When i try to download some files (not using market) it says that i need SD card. How to fix it?
Does anyone experience this problem too? I just cant download most of the files unless i can find them on the market. Why does it say i have no sd card whhy i have, i cant even run android without it.
1.-Backup SD card to your computer
2.-Download HP format tool (google) and format sdcard FAT32+FULL FORMAT
3.-Restore sd card contents
4.-Try again.
Also, which build are you using? XDAndroid or neopeek variants?
I am using xdandroid posted by aaarghh
From THIS thread? That has the most up-to-date and working package build, to my knowledge.
Give it a once over and leave some feedback. Format FAT32 is suggested.
I have formated and cleared sd card. Downloaded the package with new android and problem still occurs :/.
Even if i go to setting-location and security-install from sd card it says that sd card isnt present. It says there is no sd card under SD CARD/PHONE STORAGE(or something like that) too.
-Where should i put apk file to install it?
You are using an at&t Fuze/RAPH110/TP, right?
You can put the APK under the folder called AndroidApps
Additionally, make sure you are using something other than the windows format tool. (FAT32 ofc). Also, I've heard of these situations (not able to download from Market) with the earlier builds such as Eclair and Donut but very rarely with FroYo. Not saying that it is impossible, just that you are the first person I have attampted to help with this issue

I am having a strange problem when I try to flash a rom. When I boot into recovery and choose file from SD card it is showing a listing of files that do not correspond to what is on the SD card, they are an old listing of files.
If I take out the SD card and go in it correctly shows no files. I have done a complete format of the SD card and put the ROM on and I can see it fine in Windows but when i reboot the old files are listed....Also I can see the correct ROM ok within the phone when using ROM Manager but then it reboots into recovery and then can't find the file!!
It must be some issue with the SD card any idea how i can fix it?

Have you rooted you phone eg. with unrevoked 3...?
Yes I have, everything has been working great until now.
I can still use everything in the phone and apps2sd+ is working. Astro file manager lists files on sd card.
but in recovery there are old folders and an old rom that i flashed a while ago.
WTF
i think flash orginal again...maybe from provider´s site (on my o2 site is a original) or from xda devs rom´s thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
and start from zero:
unrevoke again....change radio...change rom...
with kind regards...Alex
edit: if you don´t have it...make a ext3 with rom manager
recreated the partitions in linux and everything is ok now...strange
I just got a 32GB Micro SD Card for my evo and I am trying to replace my current 8gb card. I was previously running MIUI 11.26 and using clockworkmod recovery. I followed these steps because I couldn't find anything Evo specific:
http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/15/ho...-android-when-using-swap-hero-and-or-apps2sd/
when trying to format and reapply the rom i was using i received this error msg:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory)
Now I don't know where to go from there. I previously had a 16GB card fry because apparently i didn't take the correct steps to get it working properly, i do not want that to happen again. Can ANYONE give me specific instructions for swapping my SD Card for my Evo?? If so I would GREATLY appreciate it!!!
And yes...this is probably rather "noob-ish" and I DID already search the forums for any help and couldn't find what i was looking for. Again any help is appreciated
Thanks!!
just copy all files from your 8g card to the 32g card pop it in the evn and you are good to go, nothing special required. Unless you are using apps to sd, then the easiest way s to put all apps back on the phone, then after switching to the new sd put them all back on the sd.

Yea I tried that and kept getting an error msg. I think there are specific steps for partitioning etc I just don't know them.

sorry if i'm misinformed but the evo has 2.2/apps2sd built in and 2.2 partitions the sd card on reboot. The article u linked i believe is for devices with 2.1 or ealier and a modded apps2sd . I have swapped many different cards and have not had to do anything that special.
Here are my steps:
1. go into settings manage applications and pull all apps back to phone.
2. copy all files/pics/vids/whatever u want to keep to computer.
3. power off, swap out sd cards, power back on.
4. phone should boot and partition sd or whatever.
5. use astro file manager and if it shows directory for sd, asec, secure then everything is good and u can move apps back to sd.
6. hook phone to sd and move all your kept files from old sd to new sd
I have seen your problem happen with a bad sd card, where did you get the 32g card. You may want to test it and see if it is actually a 32g.

Thanks for the response...just a question before i go forward with it, when i replace the card and reboot the phone, is it automatically going to boot up w/ the rom i was using before replacing the card?
Edit: Tried these steps and got stuck in bootloop for MIUI (rom i had flashed previously). Even tried to put the initial PC36IMG file on the sd card and flash it through recovery, nothing! It searched for it then says it directory cannot be found. I've put the 32gb card in my card reader on my computer and it comes up just fine, I can add files to it, format it etc and everything works, any other suggestions...this is becoming highly frustrating! Again any help is definitely welcomed!
So i still cannot seem to get this working, and I've tried doing a lot of different things and nothing is working for me, I have tried to install some sort of file manager program (astro) but it doesn't recognize my sd card, yet my phone shows it as mounted and with plenty of space available. I do not know what else to do...can ANYONE help me?
i had a similiar problem recently. For christmas I received a new sd card. At fist it didn't recognize my card. I tried to format it using my PC but I then went to my recovery (Amon RA) and clicked on the Partition SD card option.
After I partitioned, I turned on USB-MS toggle and put all my files back into the phone (including my rom zip).
I disabled USB-MS toggle, and then wiped data/factory reset, cache, dalvik-cache
Flashed zip from sdcard and violoa. It works!
try that one out.

how would i partition a 8 GB micro sd card with AmonRA?
I just bought a 16gb class 10 sd card. Now I am using the one that came with the phone. I thought I can copy and paste the files on the 8gig card to the 16 gig card and should be all set. I copied all files to the new card and the phone doesnt want to boot up. I believe to have a ext on the card that i am using now but I dont know if that matters. If I do have an ext or partition on the card, how can I find out? Any suggestions?? Thanks..
Format the new card, put it in the phone and boot up, then copy everything from the 8 gig
thank you...I will try that..
Let the PHONE format the card. then pull the card and copy only the selected needed files. nothing more. :-D but yeah. a class 10 card IS WHAT SHOULD have been installed in our phones. our phone doesn't support the max speed. but it is truely faster even when connected to the USB port. I tested before and after and did see a difference in speed. But for the normal use, it won't help. lol
its worked....Thank you
"...then pull the card and copy only the selected needed files. nothing more."
Could you (or anyone knowledgeable) elaborate on what the "needed files" are, please? I'm asking because my SD card just recently crapped out on me. Entirely. Crapped. Out. I couldn't even get my pc to pick it up w/ an adapter. However, the good news is that I recently did a nandroid backup and had copied it, along with all of my pics and vids to my PC.
So, I now have a brand new SD card and a folder on my PC that contains my recent nandroid, a bunch of pics, and some vids, but nothing else. I never bothered moving all of the other files to my PC. In hindsight, I guess I was prepared for a flashing fail, but not for an SD card fail
My question is this: What additional files do I need to move to my sd card to keep operating smoothly, including future rom-flashing and nandroid backups?
Do I need to add a recovery file (Amon RA or CWM) manually? Or can I just re-download CWM from the market and flash alternate recovery? What other important files am I forgetting?
Thanks.
I have been loading all the roms and just realised my sdcard is getting filled.. therefore can format my sdcard?? Will it remove the rom or change the S-off or brick my phone??
Can replace my 8gb sdcard with 32gb sdcard? Should i do anything extra to make sure it remains rooted?
Can force close be caused only by software issues or even hardware?? I ask this coz a month back i had dropped my phone and it did not start for couple of hours. After that i have being having issues with many roms and many apps esp market force closing and the clockwork recovery not flashing properly...

Your OS is installed in the internal storage of your device, not your SD Card. Formatiing your SD Card does nothing to your ROM at all. Force Closing is most probably a permission issue. Try Fix Permission in ROM Manager.

Do you mean you are keeping the ROM files, and/or nandroid backups on your SD card? After you flash a ROM, you can get rid of the zip file. Or copy it to your desktop computer, if you think you might want it again in the future.
Similar thing with nandroid backups. I usually just keep the most recent one on my SD, and move the rest to my PC.
Some apps save data to the SD card. If you want to upgrade to a larger SD, just copy the files you need (or think you might need) to your desktop computer from the SD, then copy them to the new SD card, and swap the cards out. Upgrading the SD card is that simple.

Not the zip files but the original rom which installed.. i asked this bcoz when rooting i had to create gold card change the value and so on.. so i wasn't sure if that would be affected if i formatted the sdcard or deleted all the folders ..
i have trying out many softwares, and now i dont even remember which is ones i have removed and which is need(lots of folders, some where created by some roms i hard tried)... since i always backup imp data on my pc.. i have no worries there..
just wanted to clean up whole thing since i have figured out all most all the sw i will need..

Hi, can I use SD Card as default storage? How? I have a 64 GB SD Card, but every App/Games data is in external storage(which have only 10 GB, and now it is full), when I move Android folder from external storage to SD card, every game stops working, because can't find data and try downloading it again to external storage. I try several app for moving to the SD card, but without luck, Is there any solution? Thank you.
app removed sorry
Why would you think that just moving an app's data would be okay? How on earth would the app know where you moved its files to?
Have you tried Apps2SD?

Yes, without luck. I move it to the SD card, but its same as when I do it with file explorer, game canť find data and trying downloading it again..
Are you running a custom ROM? I thought from your signature you were on Viper. Then I realized its not a Viper version number (7.0.0) that applies to this phone.
I think the SD card fix needs to be applied for Apps2SD to work, but most (if not all) custom ROMs should already have the SD card fix implemented.

Yes, sdfix is aplied in rom (Viper 3.1.0.) I see in some LG device, it have in setting/storage when people can select default storage. I need set a sd card as default, but can't find how.
