[Q] gps.conf file gone - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there. I have used VISIONary + to root my DHD just to change the gps.conf into my nearest NTP.
But now I do not know where is the gps.conf file gone to. It is now totally missing from my device. Even using the search engine I am unable to find it.
Unrooting back the device also makes no difference (i.e. still missing).
Where go wrong??
Can I find any other ways to create back that file??

the gps.conf file is located in /system/etc/ you cannot search for it, you also need a root enabled file explorer in order to see it

[Q] How To Make a .txt file?

I tried searching and didnt find what I was looking for
Can someone explain how to make a .txt file? I was wanting to modify my power widgets in MikFroyo and I am lost as to what program to use to make it. Thanks for the help
You can use any word processor, the easiest one is probably notepad or wordpad. When you save the file make sure to select .txt as the file type
If you mean on your phone, get es file explorer from the market. Then you just hit: menu new and name it with a .txt at the end of the file name
Ok, so I got how to make the .txt file but using ES file explorer it wont let me paste/move it into the system>customize directory... It just says "copy failed"...
Also, the permission set on the existing widget.txt file are set to read only so I cant just modify that one...
I got it to copy one time and upon reboot the phone stuck at the white HTC EVO screen.. had to android back to pre-messed up copied file...
Anybody already done this and know what I'm missing?
The reason it is not copying is because the system is mounted read only.you can try going into settings in es and go to root options at the bottom. Those options don't work on all roms but you can check it out and see. Mount as read write and then you should be able to copy to system

Alright, so I used the "experimental" feature to copy the .txt file into the system>customize directory and it actually worked, I have my power widgets the way I want them now..
But, I tried it again a little bit ago and ES file Exlp wouldnt let me use that feature... It kept saying that "mounting failed, this feature wont work on your phone."... Any idea what's up with that?
thanks for the help BTW

[Q] unable to edit build.prop

Hi,
I have a rooted Desire with sandvold's ics 4.03 rom. Wanted to make some changes to build.prop but nothing I tried so far works... I tried Mount R/W app, Root explorer, adb, adb over wifi, ES explorer, tried to mount via clockwork... with ES explorer I managed to edit the file and make it save (what the program tells me) but when I browse back to the system folder the build.prop file is gone ?? I reboot the phone and build.prop is back but not with the changes I made to it ... it gets reset to default every time ...
Does anyone have any ideas how I can change the file ?
THx

I've truer to change build prop many a time with root explorer and it just reverts back to same after you reboot.....I've set to re changed file saved change set to ro rebooted had file remained the same.
I just use my mobile and this is how I successfully edited build prop
If you have ota files like miui Xj. Unzip the update file edit build prop....save changes....rezip and flash in recovery or you can edit the rom zip.

Well,if you constantly fail to successfully edit it on phone, you can edit it on computer if its not problem for you to flash ROM again. So when you have unpacked it use text editor(notepad,notepad++,gedit,sublimetext2....) and just edit build-prop,when you are done click save and repack it again.

Camera Fix for MIUI "cant connect to camera"

Let me start by saying that i do not take credit, by any means for this fix, i did use the SEARCH tool and found the solution. What i'm doing is posting a faster/easier fix for the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196200
All of the help i read, is from this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102981&highlight=miui+camera.
Our common issue was that each time we flashed an AOSP ROM(for me the new MIUI PORT FROM SPRING TO SHG3 TMO) the camera wouldn't connect, and that's a deal breaker. Im sure it was for many of you. (I'm a noob, just giving a heads up, and this is why i have to post here rather than the first thread, being understandbly limited and all) As the 2nd of the two threads says, the issue is that on stock rom there is a bin file named SlimISP_ZH.bin, once flashed, it's no longer there, causing the camera to simply not connect. I odin'ed back to stock(because i didn't have access to the bin file), used ES File Explorer to "copy" the SlimISP_ZH.bin file into my external sd card, then i proceeded to flash to the MIUI ROM of my choice, after setting up the phone, using ES File Explorer again, i placed the bin file on the /data directory. If a mod can confirm it's ok, i'll be more than happy to upload the bin file to make it easier. Oh one last thing i changed permissions, so it should show as rw-r--r--

How do you change permissions? Do I need to be rooted? Do I need busybox?

Yes you need to be rooted. No you do not need busybox. Use ES File Explorer. Better yet, try Fix Permissions in Custom Recovery.

[Q] Where is the nv_data.bin located on S3 i747m android 4.4.2

Hi,
I have a rooted Galaxy S3 i747m that I need to find the nv_data.bin file.
It has stock 4.4.2 KitKat.
I have used Root Explorer and other file managers however I cannot see this file. It is NOT in the EFS folder as far as I can see. I have put it every search mode I could, mounted R/W...
Does 4.4.2 even use a nv_data.bin file or does it use another file? Is is it encrypted? Hidden?
I have searched all over but all I can find is people telling me to check my EFS folder, root my phone, etc.. but I still can't find it.
I know this is a pretty important file so possibly Samsung has done something to make it inaccessible?
Still with all the expertise in this forum there must be someone who can tell me where it is, how to find it, or which other file replaced it (if this is the case).
Please do not ask me why I want to find it,what I need it for I am not asking for any other information, I just want to find it because I want to know where it is and how I can get to it ...simple. I believe when we own something we should be able to access it without restrictions and I am curious about why I cannot find it.
I have used an NV reader to see the information so I presume the file is somewhere.
I can provide any other information about the phone if that helps.
