Anyone else have this problem?
I'll go into Handscent to reply to a text or open up the Dolphin browser to surf the web, and my touch input keyboard doesn't work. I'll have a cursor in the field and the DINC will vibrate when I hit the keys, but nothing appears. I have to back out and go back into whatever app I'm using sometimes five or six times for it to correct itself. It's getting very frustrating. I have tried switching to the Android keyboard when the problem is going on and have found it has the same issues.
I am running SkyRaider 3.3.2 with the 07.28 radio. Stock kernel, and stock everything else I'm pretty sure.
If anyone has any ideas or an actual fix I'd be greatly appreciative.
To me, it sounds like a kernel issue. Try flashing a different kernel like Lou's #4 and see if that helps improve the issue.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I just upgraded to SkyRaider 3.5 and so far the problem hasn't resurfaced. If it does, I may try your idea.
Thank you.
I get this problem sometimes i always have even on stock

I'm not sure if anyone else has run into this issue or maybe it's just my phone but my keyboard seems to lag (both stock android and smart keyboard pro). When I hit a key, it refuses to respond. I'll have to "warm up" my phone a bit by leaving it on for about 15 seconds before I can start typing comfortably, where every key is responding.
suggestions? known issue on all ROMs?
...or just my phone?
I noticed this too on AOSP ROMs but only when I had the phone plugged in. When I installed the Tiamat kernel it disappeared. What keyboard are you using? If it uses a dictionary it might need to be reset.

I'm running the tiamat kernel, too. I experience the issue on android and smart keyboard pro.
*wait, I just checked and I'm running cm7 kernel. let me try flashing tiamat again and see if that fixes the issue
**nope, I don't think flashing tiamat worked. I changed governor to "performance" so let's see what happens then
***I guess the issue is with cm7. I experienced keyboard lag with omfgb and cm7. not a fan of MIUI so I'm not sure if there's keyboard lag on that ROM. I'm running TSM now and experiencing no lag with the keyboard (or any keyboard) so I think the problem is with AOSP ROMs.
I have the same lag with any keyboard I use. I also had the same problem with my Tbolt. This happens regardless of charging or not.
I don't mean to hijack the thread but has anyone else noticed a bad lag with the XDA app? I hate it. I press see the general section and nothing happens so I hit it again and BAM it loads and in a specific thread. I understand it takes a little bit of time to build the long list of forums but not a general section of the INC2 or other device.
(Info: currently running Myn's Synergy with Godmode and the Chop Suey 0.7 kernel, at least I'm pretty sure that's the version.)
The title sums it up -- I can't answer phone calls from my phone. Whenever I get a call, I get my phone out of my pocket, and then move the little phone icon to the circle (sense 3.0 lock screen), and then the phone dismisses the call. Sometimes it does so before I even get to touch the phone icon.
It also takes far longer than usual before it will let me call back, like it's not responding. I can get into the phone application, then I hit the number to call them back, and nothing will happen for like 30-45 seconds, then it will finally call.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions on fixes?
It's happened on-and-off since I started using Gingerbread ROMs, but recently it's been far more regular. I haven't been able to actually answer a phone call in almost a week.
I've never seen an issue like this.
You may want to try re-flashing your ROM/Kernel.
After wiping everything, that usually clears up "odd" issues.
[Not to sound insulting] have you restarted your phone since this issue started?

I'm going to try flashing the non-Godmode Synergy ROM. It seems to be happening more on this one than on others in the past.

I have, yes.
Hello, I'm currently running the latest Black Ice nightly (from 7/16) on my Inspire 4G. I love this ROM but there are a few bugs and annoyances I have. I have searched the forums with no luck, and hope somebody who has had similar problems could help me solve these.
- When I select text (for example, half a sentence) and hit delete, occasionally it will start deleting the letters in front of my selection, but will keep the selection intact (as in, it stays shown as selected but acts as if its not). This is seemingly random and happens maybe once every ten times I make a selection. I can fix this by unselecting then reselecting.
- Sometimes when I plug in my headset to talk to someone, I can hear them through the headset but they cannot hear me through it. I can fix this by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
- GPS takes forever to find location. I have tried a few different GPS settings from within IceTool with no luck. Using GPS Status I can get 7-14 locks, but Google Maps still won't find my location.
- Apps also seem to force close occasionally. I don't know how to use all of the features in IceTool or the other tools that come with the phone, so I don't use them. Perhaps there are settings or tweaks that would make my phone more stable? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Again, great rom! Thanks!
Reboot into recovery, fix permissions.
Nightly releases are experimental.
If you want a stable release you can flash either v1.50 or v1.60
I've never flashed a nightly so I can't help you much with that part.

Fixed permissions, and flashed stable 1.60. I'm still having the same problems. And now sometimes people can't hear me when I talk. I will call someone (or they will call me), I can hear them fine but they cannot hear me. I've tried reflashing a few times. Can anybody help?

I would say flash a stock rooted sense rom to find out if the issue persists. If it doesn't, report back after a full wipe: Format data/Factory reset, wipe dalvik, Format all partitions (except sd card). Download the rom again, flash it after the wipe obviously :silly:, check to see what problems you are having if any. After that we will work something out. I have a few ideas but I would like to find out first if it happens in the stock rom.
Logcat would be good too

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. I won't be able to reflash until Monday, so I will post the results then. What is logcat and how could it help me?

The logcat helps identify a problem. I know Guy doesn't know how to read one, nor do I, however, a dev or someone familiar with logcats would be able to see, if anything shows, where the problem could be.

Regardless of the application I'm using, when I click and hold on text and click copy. The phone freezes for several moments, Apex restarts, then I get a fc/stopped working message pops up for the app I was using. I tried using different keyboards, cleared google framework, neither made a difference.
Phone is rooted, stock Rom. I have no idea what went wrong, can't exactly say what I changed to make this problem start happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Bump.. nobody has any idea?
Read this thread:

Thank you so much! I can't believe i didn't find that thread myself, I was searching for days for a solution. Clear data/clipboard, force stop TestService! Worked like a charm, any idea what causes this bug?
Not a clue but it happens once every other week or so. So annoying.
I have been flashing ROMs for years and can almost always resolve issues on my own but I am stumped and can't find answers. I have been getting random aol type dial up sound when I make some calls. Even once I hang up the call the sound continues until i turn off my phone and turn it back on. Of course this seems to happen at the worst time so it is rather annoying. I first noticed it on RC8 then RC9 I have tried several other roms and even flashed root66 to try and resolve this. I have also flashed kootz kernel, lean kernel and the kernel that comes with some CM based roms and nothing has worked so far. I am looking for help if anyone has ideas I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance
