Does anyone have any problems on the evo? I am currently running myn's warm rls 5 w netarchy latest cfs, no havs, no uv, no sbc. So far it has been pretty decent. I am using it as I type. Are there any ways to test benchmark statistics wise what is too low for the evo. My current 1152 cons setting gets me in the 40s hr use wifi at home and a full time job. Whats your experiences w similar?

If I read your post right... you are getting 40hrs of use from your phone with a single charge and its overclocked?...
Sorry.. I don't believe you. Not unless you don't use the thing at all. Are you on a 3500mah battery too?.
The only time I have ever gotten my phone even close to 40grs was with 4g and wifi off and barely used it at all... and by "even close" i mean about 29hrs
Well, that's your opinion. I spend 18 to 20 hours away from wifi and the rest around 12m internet. It stayed off the charger and lost 3% in 9 hours last night. 35 to 40 is my avg. I have made it 60 once but I was around my wifi all weekend. I was just asking if anyone has had issues underclocking the snapdragon.

Oh, OK, so you barely used it, got it.
And underclocking, never found any advantage at all. I seem to get better battery not using any over or underclocking.
Well, I am using it lol. I am at work now. I have freedom at my job to use it an keep it w me. I have spent a lot of time flashing and dialing these roms and kernels to my liking and have great battery life now. Thanks for letting me know ur experience on underclocking. I didnt start this post to make mine seem amazing lmao I just started it to hear other experiences. I also had to revert to 1.77 nv/pri because I had 100% wake time. Since then it's been nice and stable.

Please forgive me if this s somewhere else, but the search function is down I think.
I feel like my brand new evo is pretty laggy compared to what Ive seen. I have rooted and am running the newest stock kernel.
Ive tried Mik's rom and Myn's rom, they both net me an average score of 1100 on quadrant.
Am I way below where I should be? Seems like my menus are much "jerkier" than what Ive seen around.
Also, if anyone knows, what does wipe SD-EXT in recovery do?

I would agree that 1100 is average, but you could make your phone so much faster. Download Spare parts from the market and set you transitions and windows animations too fast. This should increase your quadrant score, thought it may take two test to show a boost. Also how long gave you had your evo on its current rom. The evo is like a person, it needs time to adapt to its kernel. So when you flash a rom, be patient and give your phone a couple day (3 or 4) to get used to the kernel. Then if performance and/or battery is bad, you can pm and i can recommend the kernel i use as well as others. With my current set up, which is Myn's RLS 5 and net 4.3 cfs, but don't worry just sit on your current set up. Good luck

Thanks, I just flashed Myn's RLS 5 a few hours ago and I have been flashing like every day since I rooted. Ill give it a few days and see what happens. My girlfriend jsut got an EVO slide and I guess I just have envy since it seems so much snappier straight out of the box.
Not to mention my battery seems to die in a matter of a couple hours and hers has gone down only 30% in the last 16 hours.

I recommend just leaving it on the same kernel for the weekend. Also do you use sense as in the clock and different widgets. Because i removed sense from my phone and get about 19 hours on a single charge with regular use.

Yeah I do use sense. Not sure if Im ready to give it up yet though ><
1100 seems like an average score for an relatively "stock" rooted Evo with a custom rom. I've had my quadrant score range from 1100 to 1300 from just a custom rom. Flashing different kernels with net you different scores also. With just netarchy's 4.1.9 no havs, Fresh 3.5, no overclock netted me a score ranging from 1300-1400. Overclocking to 1.2 ghz got to 1450-1650. I'm sure I can tweak some more to squeeze more performance out of my Evo. But usually I keep my phone at stock speed with Fresh rom and I'm satisfied with its performance.

Okay because my bro has the same set up as me but gets about 4 hours less battery, because sense sucks battery life.
can anyone tell me if my numbers seem off i get about 1200-1300 quadrant and 32-33 on linpack with stock kernel and myns rls5...

I use MIUI and average around 1600-1700 on quadrant oc'd to 1150. The ROM itself is much smoother running than pretty much every sense rom I've tried but still not perfect. That "jerkiness" is a limitation of the EVO, no matter what ROM or kernel you use it still won't be iPhone smooth.
SD-EXT is where your apps are stored when using apps2sd. So wipe SD-EXT will wipe that partition.
I went from using stock sense with a score of 1100ish... To runnin CM6 with the stock kernel and a score of 1400 ish... My 3g speed went from an average of 450kbps to above 700... Go figure

Hey guys, im using MikFroyo 4.4, stock kernel, no app killer. Im getting about 15 hours of what most would consider light-moderate use.
Im wondering what i can do to extend this without losing features. Is anyone getting better battery life and if so how?
custom kernel? overclock/underclock? other tweaks?
Thanks.
I use an SBC kernel (SBC #15 v7 from MS79723). There's rumors that it causes battery meltdowns, but from my experience I find that highly unlikely. I've been unplugged for 11 hours and I'm at 60% with what most consider moderate usage (about 100-150 texts, some light web browsing, a phone call or two, a few levels of angry birds). I'm also using Slayer's Cyan Dragon theme which looks badass but I'm not sure what it does for battery life (lessens it, makes it better, i dunno). The set up seems to be working pretty well after a couple of days of the kernel reading accurate battery stats.
I also reboot every morning when I wake up before I unplug to close any programs I still had running from the prior evening. Hope that helps.
Cool, anyone else using the same? different? Thanks guys
I too have been using SBC kernels for a while now with no problems and excellent battery life. Im also running a rom based on Mik's. Im using the 131 sbc kernel and i could not be happier. I also run setcpu for a screen off profile.
There are many different ways to conserve battery do a search. I believe HTC admits we should only get like 6 hours use. Try different kernals and see what works best, but give each one a couple charging cycles before deciding. The setup im using is great but peoples phones react differently.
Thanks for the input guys. I have been searching but i wanted some direct input.
Do you guys use app killers/memory managers too?I was using auto memory manager, but decided it was having little or no benefit at the cost of occassionally having to reload the UI.
Also what does SBC stand for?
Thanks everyone

I do not use anything but set cpu. Do a search for sbc theres a thread that gives all the explanation of different kernal terminology but im not sure exactly where it is
Ok cool, yea i looked it up last night and figured out what things like SBC and Havs are.
So what kind of battery life are you guys getting?
What kernel are u using with setcpu? you cant use that with stock kernel right?

You can, you just can't overclock on the stock kernel.
Kernel:
Netarchy 4.3.1 cfs-havs-sbc
Set CPU:
Screen off - 245 min 576 max
Screen on - 998 max 245 min (conservative)
Juice Defender:
Data turns off when screens off, reneables after unlock only. Enables every hour for 3 minutes to check email and such.
Task Manager: Quick system info task killer widget (only when I need to free memory for a heavy game)
Been listening to radio.com app over Bluetooth headphones while connected to wifi for 3.5 hours. Down to 76% from full charge.
Normal daily use for me is 200 texts, 50 or so emails, hour of calls, 2 hours of web, and at least 30 minutes of games. I take the phone off the charger at 7:30am and I can go till midnight no problem.
Friday I did a reboot at 10:50 am from a full charge and at midnight I was at 62% with a little lighter usage than listed above.
Thanks, sounds like the two most used kernels are netarchy and SBC. Any other good ones?

Welcome to the scene. Sorry for the smartass comment, literally just read the sprint echo announcement and had some anger to get out. Try mikfroyo with either launcher pro or adw ex for serious speed and smoothness. I prefer launcher pro for the sense like widgets without the sense like lag.

I am running Tiamat with the CM7 Final. My battery life has been much better than before, usually get about 18 hours of use. Everything seems to run nicely! I did a lot of research and tried a bunch of different ROMs, this one has been the best for me.

I get awful battery life with SavegedZen. Everything is smooth with Tiamat, and I get great battery life. Ironically, I feel my 3G/4G and tethering speeds are faster with the Tiamat kernel as well.
I was using Tiamat when I was running CM. I was getting really good battery life and leaving data, wifi, gps ect... on. I usually charge at bed time and average moderate use but never had an issue with low battery.
In fairness to this post I have NOT used SZ so I might be biased. I have been reading up on it and noticed on cyanogens forums a lot of people swearing by the combo so I will probably give it a ****. I think this far into the game either are superb choices and it boils down to personal experience and phone specific issues.

I use Tiatmat 3.3.5 scb kernel and love it. I took my phone off the charger about 11pm last night. I played on it for almost 2 hours solid and went to sleep and left it off the charger. I got up and spent about 30 minutes on it this morning. So far it has been up 9 hours and 44 minutes and still have 52%.
I selected a SBC kernel because I read on a thread over on XDA that it's best to use them if not charging all the time and you only charge overnight. Lot's of speculation on these kernels killing the batteries from what I read but I have yet to see any confirmed reports that this kernel damaged the phone.
Cyanogenmod & Tiatmat for the win!
Tiamat for battery, but savage has it beat on performance. Depends on what you want.

No you wouldn't notice it much, in scores yes but not much to the end user.

Mine is slightly reversed from everyone else in this thread.
Tiamat gives better performance but SavagedZen gives better battery life for me. I even discussed this with Tiamat's dev, cayniarb. I guess my Evo is weird.
I am actually a Captivate owner running the Mosaic ROM. It doubled or more my battery life and now a freind of mine who has an Epic 4G wants the same. Can anyone recommend something? Are you guys seeing these amazing battery life improvements on your GB ROMS? Figured I would ask anyway. Thanks in advance.
can you link to the Mosaic ROM thread?
How many hours do you get on Mosaic ROM? i just flashed my friends Epic to [ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 With the Genocide 2.0 Kernel
I am running UrBan Regeneration ROM With Genocide 2.0 How techie is your friend? with the Genocide Kernel you can custom undervolt & you can overclock it up to 1400 Mhz. Some Epics dont like higher clock speeds most Epics can do 1200 Mhz as for the undervolting you have to test by running benchmarking apps & see what the SoC/CPU of your friends Epic can handle
But i say just flash SRF 1.2 or Urban Reg
edit P.S i like your avatar do you have the full size pic?

I have had sporadic results in battery life ranging from 30-40 hours with light to average use. I mostly use email and never turn off the WiFi, Bluetooth or GPS. Oddly enough I seem to get better results when I leave it all on. I do keep the screen brightness down to the minimum and average about 1-1/2 hours of screen on time per day. Keep in mind I have only had this ROM about a week now, but so far it is the best I have seen. Previously I had Firefly which I loved and it rarely made the 24 hour mark on battery life no matter what I did. The guy who was managing Firefly moved to the Mosaic project so that is why I followed.
Here is the link for the Mosaic thread.

My friend is just a simple use, not very techie so he just wants something that gives him results like I am getting without all the work. That doesn't bother me much since I have rooted and setup many phones for friends already. It's my sworn duty to rid the world of crappy stock ROM's and let people see the real Android operating system at work. Wish I had the talent of the developers... maybe someday!
Edit:
Almost forgot... I have no idea where I picked up that Avatar. No link for it anymore, just the file saved on my harddrive somewhere, but can't seem to find it now.
ROM: Urban regeneration, KERNEL: genocide 2.0, setCPU set to conservative, any ec05 based theme and the lockscreen mod and you wont hear from him until he wants to start messing with the UV/OC settings to see how much more battery life he can get if he customizes, considering i was getting ~30 hours with that set up WITHOUT tweaking anything and started messing with the UV and got 2 days use with my phone even with 4g on.
But now im on eh06, 2.3.4, because i just wanted to see how far along GB was and its stable as fluff for me running the Stock ODEX-ed one but i dont last as long as i did with the above set up. Keep in mind that i use my phone EXTENSIVELY lol like during the hurricane i just chilled playing gameboid cuz all the other electronics were put away and i lasted through the night and a couple hours the next day
EDIT: was running eh06, which doesnt last aslong as the froyo setup i mentioned, but it lasted as long as irene so that puts it into perspective lol

Do you have any suggested links for installing this ROM. Like so many I have tried in the past, it seems like every ROM has a slightly different procedure. I'd hate to brick a perfectly good phone because I picked the wrong thread for instructions. Thanks again for the info.
this will help you if you end up Fing up an Epic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052813
Right. So a friend of my friend made me root his phone a while back and I threw mikg 2.52 on it and all was good. Now the guy contacted me today and said his battery life was in the crapper and wants me to change it to something more battery life favored since he isn't by a charger for a long time throughout the day. And since I have been using the new ics roms and jumping back and forth often I don't really know what to give him now.
So what's your opinions? I need something stable as a rock and best battery possible. I need this to last him a while since I almost never see this guy... Haha
P.s. I know people hate these kind of post. Just bear with me here because I'm meeting this guy tomorrow morning and have to know what I should flash for him. Also no aosp please.

You could have him try the one in your sig. It gave me great battery life when I used it, but as always, YMMV. You really have to try them out and see which gives the best battery life for you.
Also could try apps like Juice Defender or similar that aim to optimize battery life.
The only rom i can think of that ive used that doesnt drain your battery would be cm7 or decks gb. Ive used it myself & ive seen good battery life even with my cpu overclocked.
Does it work on viper rom? V2 redline? Thanks! Please let me know
I have the latest MIUI by Swiper, and since 2.2.6, my battery life has been phenomenal with Tiamat kernel 4.1.0, Car-O-Dope tweaks and Vipermod -50.
Phenomenal as in comes off the charger at 6AM and when I get home from work at 5, it's still over 80%

I can confirm this.. ALthough I use 2.3.2 b1 and 3.3.7 sbc kernel as I had some reboot issues with 4.1.0 but yeah.. I'm still at 100 percent at 11:00 am (work at 8).. come home and still at 90. go to bed and hit the charger right above 80. It's unreal.. I consider myself a heavy user too... email, sms, phone calls... etc.
I am currently using Swiper's 2.3.2 b1 with 3.3.7 sbc and have not run into any issues. Battery life is great with this combination for me. Also, keep in mind that I do not run many widgets except an calendar agenda widget.
Myn's Warm series rom's always gave me the best battery life.
i use energy sense 3.5 rom with anthrax kernel. iv had decent battery life w it. about 14 hours or so w moderate use and in and out of roam looking for signal. from what iv read CM7 and MIUI roms are much better with battery life than sense roms. they also seem to be more customizable.

He did mention no AOSP (although AOSP really does have the best battery life IMHO)
Koni's Elite Series III combined with netarchy-toastmod HAVS-less had decent battery life, only issue is that was a Froyo build.
kluster1999: I agree, pic would be awesome.
I don't mean to sound rude, but different ROM and kernel combinations can only make so much of a difference. I'm skeptical of claims of amazing battery life with heavy usage because in the end, the battery is still the same size and the large screen still draws a lot of power.
Been having great Battery life with "The Exress" using" Lionfish more" kernnal and smurfed out....
