Is there an app that can keep a record of what makes my phone random reboot?

Try logcat
It's a free app in market.
Like alogcat in the market?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Well I guess kinda logcat but I don't understand that stuff. I looked at it and couldn't figure out what was making my phone reboot.

We would need more information about your phone to help determine the problem. Is it rooted? Did you flash a different rom? Did you flash a new kernel? Did you flash anything? Is this at random or when you're doing something like using a specific program. Did you change the battery? It could be a number of different things.
Overclocking/Underclocking to a too high/low feq. can cause your phone to reboot. Don't know if you are though.

Yep I'm rooted. I'm on MIUI ROM right now. I have tried about 15 different kernels and still had the rebooting issue. Yeah its random reboots out of nowhere. Nope, haven't changed my battery

Did you set your wifi to NEVER sleep? Have you tried the BCnice kernel? I also used to have the random reboots while on MIUI but I installed version 1.2.11 which came with the BCnice kernel and have not had a reboot with it since.
PS. My name is HondaCop and I approve this message.

Yea I'm on same version as you 1.2.11. Was hoping the newest version would of fixed it but no luck. I tried all Savage kernels and snap kernels already. And yep I have wifi on never sleep. Is it possible something in my sdcard is causing the reboots?

So every time I flash I wipe data/cache/Dalvik/Battstats. I was using CWM2 for a while and when every ROM continued to slow down and lock up I tried upgrading to CWM3, narrowing my ROM choices but not solving the problem. Whenever I flash, my phone will return to it's snappy self for a varying amount of time before crapping out again. I've tried Sense, AOSP, Evo, and Z ROMs and all behave the same for no apparent reason. What am I doing wrong? My phone used to be lightning quick, I sampled many ROMs and kernels without incident, only experimented with OC briefly, and all of a sudden it's gotten painfully slow no matter what i do. Please help me make my Incredible, "incredible" again
Is it still slow on the Stock ROM? If you haven't tried that already, I would try that. It's possible something else may be wrong with the phone if you've tried many different ROMS and all do the same thing. Do you have all the same apps installed as well, or are they different for the most part?
try fixing permissions
Try wiping your SD card and when you sign in your gmail account don't let it restore all of your apps. Setcpu is also a good investment if you have not already purchased it

Nope, doesn't delete anything.

This seems to have fixed the problem, thank you so much.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Actually, on closer inspection, the permission fix only temporarily stopped the issue. I even switched to the nearly stock Nothing Special Peanut ROM and I still got a FC from Sense. Is my phone a dud?

How are you restoring apps? I would wipe everything and flash a fresh ROM. does it freeze up now? If not, my $$ is on a rogue app that doesn't like playing with your phone.

Hmm I just flashed OMFGB w/o restoring my apps. The only things I've installed are the Google Apps, Google Voice (which is my primary method of communication), XDA, and SetCPU. The fcs seem random, not tied to any particular action. They even happen when I'm not doing anything on the phone. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help everyone.

update: I think the problem stemmed from using the SetCPU widget with the refresh rate set to 5 seconds. Not sure if changing the setting makes a difference, but removing the widget from my home screen has solved all the issues insofar. We'll see if it takes this time.

setcpu is always a "use with caution" kind of app. you can get great results, but it's mostly educated trial and error with your rom/kernel combination.
How do I find out which Android process is force closing? It happens every time I restart my phone. It doesn't happen too often but it happens at least once every time I restart. The notification does not say which process, it only says Android process. Sometimes my default keyboard, swiftkey x, is replaced by swype after force closing the Android process. Thanks in advance.
Edit: it actually says the application Android system force closes

That actually means "Android System" is force closing. I know useful right? I don't remember where to get the information that might help figure out why but typically a full wipe and a reflash will take care of it.

yea you may have deleted something thats acting up or maybe you installed something your phone is not happy with. I would try to do as the poster above said or run fix permissions in recovery or Rom Manager and see what happens
Are you on an EL13 build? What is your exact setup? If its EL, I may know why.

Yes I'm on calks 2.5, so I'm on el13. Also I don't mind reflashing and a wipe, but if there is an easier way, I would prefer to do that.

I do know that undervolting was causing a lot of people to have reboots including myself. I reduced it from 75 to 50. Also did you use Titanium Backup to restore data to your apps. That also causes some issues
I have neither manually undervolted my phone nor backed it up using titanium, so i dont think its from that

I was told that the Android System is calling a file that doesn't exist on EL13. Is it only when you power on phone? Strongsteve found it and fixed it on his ROM but I don't have the knowledge to locate it myself. Is 2.5 Calk's latest update? If he has a newer build, you may want to update. Maybe he found it and fixed it as well.

Since installing Calkulin's 2.6 and EL13, Google Maps has been force closing on me after reboots. I'll be watching this in case it's a related issue.
I've been on aokp milestone 5.2 for a few days and I didn't know if it was related to the rom or something I did or whatever but I'll be texting or on Facebook or doin something and my phone will just go to the boot animation of the pink unicorn. And I should probably mention that the colors are out of whack for a few seconds before it goes back to normal and boots up.
Edit: Everything's still there when it boots up everything's where it should be and nothing is missing or anything it just literally reboots instantly without warning or notice.
Edit: Could it be that I'm using advanced task killer? I figured it was okay since it was on the high security level setting, just throwing that out there
Thanks for any help.

No solution to this? It's the same as when I posted this thread, 100% random as far as I can tell. I don't notice anything specific that I'm doing when the reboots happen either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've got no help but I can say that this ROM ran totally smooth for me for a while and then suddenly got laggy, and apps have begun not responding regularly.
sent from a secret underground bunker
It is usually either a kernel panic or running out of RAM. You could try the V6 Supercharger for the RAM issue. As for the other I would always try odin clean stock then root and flash ROM and do not restore any data. Download and reinstall 3rd party apps fresh.

Use to happen to me also when i was on AOKP. I only noticed it when i was listening to my music tho....all my VC settings stayed the same after it booted back up so like you said it was just a random reboot. I installed V6 and that worked for the most part. The reboots did start back later on down the road tho.....

If by stock battery you mean the battery it came with then yes. I'm also running aggressive settings with v6 supercharger.
My only real concern was if it was damaging my phone in any way, or if something had already been damaged. But as I've said I really can't see anything out of whack aside from the reboots and colors. (the colors get inverted or negative or something for a few seconds on pink unicorn boot animation then goes back to normal and boots up)

This also happens to me. Same way. But usually when backing out of a text or when ending a phone call. Stock battery. V6 and no v6. Stock kernel and nyan, sammi, and shadow. What I noticed about the reboot is that it doesn't scan sd card or media.
Kang this UNICORN!!
Solution to this is to go back to a TW based rom...try sleeper or the peoples rom, joy and profit

has anyone experienced their phone turning itself off, and the only way to turn it on is to pull the battery and restart it?
Never heard of that..at least on our note. I have experienced a weird rabdom reboot. Not sure of the relevance between the two but still falls under the weird category. Some say avast security causes these things...
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I dont have avast installed. I have had the phome for about 10 days and it has happened about 5 times. the only thing that I have noticed that is it happens when I look at my phone after I get out of my car which makes me think it might have something to do with bluetooth because I have uconnect in my car. I am running stock rooted ljc and have already tried a fresh install and it still happens.
Ive had the exact same problem on stock LJC when I leave my car having used the phone with Bluetooth. The led is usually flashing and the screen is stuck off until a batter pull.
I have not noticed any other lock ups like this otherwise when not using BT. Ive had the phone 2 months.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I have had this happen twice this week but chalked it up to being a custom kernel issue....it happened in the same exact location each time...while streaming pandora in the car....in a spot undergoing network vision upgrades. I will have to test it further

I know that there were some bluetooth fixes in lk8 I wonder if that was one of them. I cant run it cuz I need my wifi to work all the time. maybe it was adressed in ma5. does anyone running either of those builds have an issue like this?
I've ran lk8 on stock deodex and ma5 and haven't had any problems with wifi. But I only use it on my home network.

I was getting rogue restarts/shutdowns in calls on some of the Perseus kernels. Alpha29 IIRC.

I am on the stock kernel. only things different from stock out of the box are root, and I installed twrp from that goo app from the play store.
Update....
After running ma5 for the last 3 days I have not had this issue any more. If anyone is still having this issue I would recommend to flash ma5.
That's good news. Are you using just the updated modem firmware or an entire rom of MA5?

So I've seen parts of posts about Ktweaker with ktoonz not sticking. But comenly people have freezas script installed and usually removing it fixes the problem. But I'm on free gs3, ktoonz latest version for touchwiz. I don't have setcpu or anything else installed. I did have setcpu but I used titanium backup to wipe it's data and uninstall it, but even after that, Ktweaker won't stick. Every time I open it, the things pop up saying my current set stuff isn't the same as what I have it set to. I can restart my phone and it will stay, but after like 15 or so mins, it happens again. Anyone know what will fix it?

Sorry if you didn't read it, you can only help yourself by reading it. getting settings to stick has been discussed several times and in the OP it has specific instructions on getting them to stick using rom Toolbox.
