DHD stuck on boot logo - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, i was flashing my DHD to CyanogenMod but i didn't wipe anything before that.
(i did it though RomManager) it got stuck on the splash/logo screen for about 10 - 15 mins so i turned off my phone (by removing the battery)
now i'm trying to restore, factory rest but its not working
tried everything on ClockworkMod v3.0.0.5 (wipe data/factory rest, wipe cache partition), backup and restore (restore and Advanced Restore) tried to restore (boot, system, data, cache and sd-ext)
Thanks !

Hey why don't you read through the forum before you make posts? There are more than 3 threads discussing the same problem!!!

Restoring backups with 3.0.5 is a pain in the ass...not working atm...you would have known only if you have read before!

Weird problem after unlocking NAND...

Followed it step by step (it worked!), but now when I restore the Nandroid backup I made my phone just cycles through the Sprint/4G boot screen continuously. I've wiped data, cache, and Dalvik/cache, and nothing. I restored to an earlier Nadroid backup (from like a month ago) and that one boots fine. Any ideas? Is my newest Nandroid backup just corrupt or something?
If this doesn't work I think I'll just flash to a brand new ROM, but gosh I'd like to backup my SMS messages lol
Thanks!
did you wipe?
I wiped:
Data/Factory Reset
Cache
Dalvik-cache
I didn't do SD:ext partition though...
Am I supposed to? Will it erase my SD card?

Don't wipe that, that's just for using Apps2sd
You need to wipe the user data. I dont remember how get there off the top of my head but it is where nandroid is.
I found it. I am using clockworkmod recovery, but you go to "wipe data factory reset" and you will see a bunch of no's and then a "yes -- delete all user data" select that and reboot. This should fix your problem.

I also had this problem once, I rebooted into recovery and flashed the newest radio and no more boot. Not sure if it was a fluke but you might try it if you cant get anything esle to work.

Full wipe means:
data/factory reset
cache wipe
dalvik cache wipe
wipe system in mounts and storage
wipe cache in mounts and storage
Wiping system is very important as a flash is usually an update to a different and improved system version! ( for instance from KKA to LA4).
When getting into a bootloop pull the battery, reinsert battery and go in recovery mode and wipe data/factory reset and cache and reboot, done

Why would you format or "Wipe" the Cache partition 3 times? Just curious...
i got a bootloop after installing google apps. I've already installed cyanogen but after installing the Google Apps, cynaogenmod does startup and its a black screen.
Can you please help?

[Q] HELP! I've bricked my phone

Guys, I've changed a lot of ROMs, and now i don't know what I did, none of the ROMs works for me, every one i install, justs freezes at boot, or returns to clockwork, what should I do? CM7 doesn't work now, .sense, please help
* do a factory reset in cwm.
* then go to mounts & storage menu.
* format /system and /boot
* flash rom again
Yeah, do what was said above, or what I usually do.
Backup data and format your SD card
Wipe data in CWM
Wipe cache in CWM
Wipe Dalvik in CWM
Install the Rom,
Boot and set up.
Hopefully that should work.

What partitions do I wipe to reflash stock?

Heya! Thanks for taking the time to read this!
I'm trying to flash the NAND backup of stock I made in TWRP before flashing a custom Rom. I'm just wondering which partitions (in TWRP) I should wipe before restoring the backup?
In Advanced Wipe, the following partitions are listed:
-Dalvik Cache
-Cache
-System
-Data
-Internal Storage
-MicroSDcard
-Android Secure
-USB-OTG
-SD-Ext
In the past I have flashed my Galaxy S2X and S3, and for those phones, the first 4 were all that needed to be wiped. I assumed it would be the same for the M8, but wanted to ask first as I couldn't find it listed anywhere to be sure.

in my case I just wipe
-Dalvik Cache
-Cache
-System
-Data
this will "factory reset" your phone, but keep the Internal Memory intact
Just wiping cache and Dalvik should be fine.
I believe system and data will be wiped automatically and your nandroid data restored to those partitions. No need to do it manually. Although it probably don't hurt to do so; and may even be prudent to avoid random issues.
But in fact, I'm pretty sure I've restored nandroids without wiping anything, and it worked fine.

Also, you can try twrp 2.8.0.1 (the one that I use).
Head up to recovery -> Wipe -> Advanced wipe
From there you can chose what to wipe (except boot, this s**t cannot be wiped).
And if this doesnt help you, just remove your SD card, go to recovery -> wipe -> factory reset (wipes everything, not sure if wiping SD card data, but it's better to remove it first) and this should do your work.
It's always working for me, even when the ROM developer says "use the recommended recovery"
