Upgrading from CWM 2.5.1.2 to 3.0.0.5 - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Would using 1 click for CWM3 work for upgrading from 2.5.1.2??

yep, then just boot in clockwork and it will convert your file system to ext and have the new clockwork..

awesome, thanks. I am already running EXT4 with midNight 2.9 ROM.

Thank you!!!
I installed the drivers on my Win7 64-bit machine, connected my phone, let windows identify it. Then I opened the OneClick Root for CWM3 folder I created from the zip file, ran run.bat .. and with in minutes it was done.
Powered down, 3 fingered to recovery and a pretty orange color was there.
Doing a nand back up now.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
On to midNight 3.3 for me!!!

Can't argue there, as midNight ROM is based on Bonsai
The bonsai team and ptfdmedic do excellent work.

"gingerbread recovery" doesn't make any sense.
Recoverys aren't specific to whichever ROM you have installed.

It does if Gingerbread uses ext4 and previous Android versions do not. Especially if ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0 doesn't support the earlier file systems.

Two "ifs" in that sentence.
Just cause it may allow for the use of ext4 doesn't mean it's not backward compatible.

Being as it was released via Rom Manager for all, I would doubt that they would release something like that which isn't.

Need help on building my theme

So I started working on my own theme a while ago. Most of it is pretty simple stuff. Mostly work I've done using Ninja Morph. But I wanted to create a flashable zip in case I needed to wipe my phone for some reason and reapply the theme. So I looked up directions on how to create a theme(http://www.incredibleforum.com/forum/htc-incredible-themes/6020-[tutorial]-how-make-themes.html)
I followed this as best I could and put everything in a zip file and transfered it to my phone. When I tried to flash it, it gave me an error(error 6 I think). Can anyone tell me what I am missing to get this to work?
I'll attach the zip I made so anyone can take a look at it. I call it DragonBread. I am running OMFGB 1.2.0. I'll try to attach some screen shots of what it looks like on my phone too.
Edit: Ok so for whatever reason, I cant upload my zip file. I have tried both zip and rar. Any ideas?

Had to upload on media fire. Someone check this out and let me know what is going on. Thanks.
Can nobody help me with this?

first of all bro if you didnt mod any of the jars get rid of them. they are rom specific. you want framework-res.apk and com.htc.resources and any apps you modded. if you have not modded any of the apps take them out.
if you did mod a jar leave it in but it sounds like your not there yet with your experience. also if your just swapping images use 7zip on your laptop or computer. ninjamorph is fun but i only use that on my phone when im not near my laptop.
im assumig you have a dinc. is this an aosp rom your on because i dont see sense in your theme.
also your probably not getting help because to just vaguely say error 6 is not any information. post exactly what errors you are recieving and what recovery you are using. also what rom are you on? and did you use the same framework for your theme.
I didn't see anything in that link you provided in the OP about signing the zip too.

Your zip script looks good tho you have something in there Iv e never seen before. Try updating to the newest clockwork

Here try this and see if it works. Upgrade your CWM to the newest version and then flash this. I removed all the apk's that you did not touch and the jar's that you have not touched and it made it alot smaller. I also updated your script to the 3.0 CWM version. Please note. IF Your ROM has a newer verion that works on the new CWM Then Upgrade it. After you flash the new CWM all backups that you have will not work as it is saved for the older version of CWM.

Synergy RC1 kernel

I upgraded to synergy rc1 from myns and have been having some issues. Turns out its because I flashed a netarchy kernel. Was hoping someone has a link to the stock kernel that comes with Synergy.
Thanks

Hi there!
I received one of those download "errors" myself.
From experience, when you click on the link, choose "save file."
If tyou are using a download manager (I do), it will cause a those .html files to download instead of the actual file. I sincerely believe download managers "confuse" the hosting server.
Try the above trick. It may take about 10 minutes so grab some coffee while you wait. =)

[Q] Installing Clockworkmod Recovery Help!!!

I picked up a GSII from Sprint yesterday so of course the first thing I'm going to do is root it. I've got root access with Superuser installed but I can't seem to install a custom recovery. I've been looking everywhere for a file to install via Odin 1.85 but it seems EVERY download link I've found has been broken! I'm on EL29 (White GSII) and am extremely frustrated that I can't figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yep. Definitely on Sprint.

Great, I now have CWM recovery and rogue recovery, but no matter which one I use when I try to da a backup (the reasaon I needed recovery) I gat an "can't mount backup path" message and goes back to menu..
Ok new development, I did a backup from CWM to internal sdcard and that works,, so rogue backup won't work,,
Rogue should work to backup to external SD card; it's where it puts it by default unless you choose to mount the internal card - I did it dozens and dozens of times on GB. Saves the file to a folder called sdcard or something. Try again with out any extra steps of mounting or anything.:
In recovery choose backup, then advanced backup toggle down to backup with all saying yes. [Also you might want to make sure that the first time you go into recovery that you press the volume up and down buttons a few times all the way through to make sure you enable the power button/select. See Qbking77's videos for descriptions of that too.]

Need Stock Rom

I had a backup of stock before root but when i tried to back up to it today it gave me a md5 mismatch so i couldnt back up to it. From what I seen in beaups thread that I need to be on a stock rom and stock kernal for his s-off method to work. Is there a stock rom that I could flash to use the s-off method?
I'd like this answered as well. I think andy's stock rom near the bottom of the page works, but I haven't had a confirmation yet. Also wondering if odex versus deodexed versions matter.
Same boat im in just waiting for somebody to say which one we can use when we are already rooted and unlocked. I dont know how my md5's mismatched on my stock before root backup but I can't go back to it so Im kinda stuck here until we get a answer.

EDIT: Downloading the 1.1 download not the newest. Under old downloads. I would think the more stock the better.

IIRC: If you have an md5 mismatch while trying to restore in a recovery, try this process:
IF YOU HAVE A BACKUP I HIGHLY SUGGEST STORING THE BACKUP FILE ON YOUR DESKTOP JUST IN CASE!!!!
Boot into whatever ROM you're on ATM.
Browse to your ClockworkMod (or TWRP backup must have an accessible folder for it's backups) using a Root file explorer, which I happen to use "Root Explorer" and open the backup file you just made.
Inside of that will be a nandroid.md5.
Delete that file and reboot into recovery, and try restoring again.

Ok i found it it was under /data/media/clockworkmod/backup but i dont see any files inside of that that are a md5 file im going to look in the data.ext4.tar file and the system.ext4.tar.a. Does any of those ring a bell? i see the boot.img, data.ext4.tar.a, recovery.img, system.ext4.tar.a, and system.ext4.tar.b. Thats all the files inside the backup i made before i rooted.
