[Q] Gingerbread Screen off animations - myTouch 3G, Magic Themes and Wallpapers

So I was curious if the Gingerbread screen off animations could be ported to cm nightly 307 by editing some files in the ROM. If so could someone possibly work on this so it's possible?

very curious about this. have been searching for an answer all over the place. what do they ever look like?

Well the only one I know of looks like an old tv turning off which is really similar to the ones on idevices. Here's a link for those that don't know what it looks like.

I know it may not seem like much but I think it's an interesting animation to have whenever you turn the screen off on your android device.

In other forums people have said it's not possible due to big differences in Gingerbread.. But if you get the source from any MDPI (like Hero) form of CM7 and then port related stuff to the animation from framework to 2.2.1 framework, maybe it could be achieved?

[Q] Android - Desire HD Transition effects

Hi,
Does anyone know how to get the transition effects that this guy is running on his Desire HD?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skKU-uI7NXA
You can see a good example at 17s into the video. It looks like the menu transition effects have been changed to fly in and also exiting and opening apps seems to have a transition effect. I've searched the web (google), searched XDA and searched youtube but nothing seems to explain it. I notice a few people have asked him on his video but he has not replied to them ...anyway, I think they look cool - if anyone has any idea how to implement these transition, please let me know Thanks in advance...
There are some effects addon packages on the miui-au site here http://www.miui-au.com/miui_au-1-1-26-r1/ don't know of they work on our devices, and they most probably won't work on anything other then a miui rom i think.
you can modify you framwork-res.apk locatet in /system/framework
with online kitchen
they got some custom transitions but i cant say if that are the same as the ones you are looking for since the yt link "doesn´t work in my country" :/

Hi,
Thanks for the offer. I need to root first (it seems) and i'm wondering if it is worth doing just to get these animations? I used to have a HardSPL'd HD2 but am new to android and will need to teach myself about the risks / trade off of Rooting...
So - im currently doing my homework...

no trouble, risks are minimal in rooting, it was a big deal a couple of years ago but now devs have created tools that make it easy, only hard part is making a goldcard and downgrading (if nesssesary), flashing s-off can be risky if somthing happens during the flash, but thats about it anyway good luck

[Q] Wakeup animation

Looking for a wakeup animation and sleep animation like the stock cm7 rc2 rom. Would like to have that on any rom. Ive been looking and cant find anything. Is it considered a lock screen animation?
Its called Screen On/Off animation and it was introduced when Gingerbread came out. I don't think any other ROM but CM7 has it, but I could be wrong.
Would it be possible to extract that from the cm7 rom? Im new to the sdk so I dont really know what can and cannot be done.
I've read somewhere that it can't be done because of the framework differences between froyo and gingerbread.
I may be wrong, but that is what I read.
Good luck.

it can be done, but by that time, evo should have stock ggb anyways. it is really hard to do, and would require some advanced java, that would ultimately lead to.... a split second screen animation :-| not that exiting for all that work....

Makes sence. Im just kind of a mod freak.... unlike most people here. Im willing to flash whatever just to learn how it works and how it dose not work. Just about everything that seems non recoverable i have somehow been able to come back from weather it be the modding of my xbox to my Evo. Im just looking for some knolage. Im trying to learn the sdk so I can be more of a contributing part of this forum.

[Q] AOSP Lockscreen

Hi everyone,
Sorry if the question has been posted before, if so, feel free to delete the thread.
Anyway, I was wondering if there's any chances to see an AOSP lockscreen mod for SGS II or if I'm definitively condemned to see this samsung (ugly) glass.. ?
I understand that some apps like widgetlocker are leading to the same result. But it still remains a little buggy and I feel like it's draining my battery a lot.
So, is it only possible ? Also, I'm curious about the reason that makes it unavailable for now, as it was quickly available for SGS (first of the name).
There is already a thread about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091689&highlight=lockscreen
Thanks but this screen deals about glass lockscreen from SGS1 and WidgetLocker.. Wich is not exactly what I meant. I'm loocking for the real stock lockscreen, with the two bars, and possibly without using widgetlocker.
Thanks anyway for caring

Yeah the first few replys suggest to use WidgetLocker but later in the thread, we tried to port the stock android lockscreen. In order to do that we used the source from SGS1 where someone ported the stock lockscreen. But we discovered that samsung changed a lot with TouchWiz 4 and therefor someone with a lot more knowledge would be needed to port the lockscreen for our SGSII and TW4.

[req\q] screen off on animation?

Anyway for us to get the GB screen off/on animation. Maybe ported to rmk's gb. Or similar. rom? I know its been asked in themes and apps but was never answered. Thanks in advance...
I have been trying all day and still not able to get the downanimation to work.
EDIT: this guy claims to have the process to make it work, although I have tried and am still not able to get my downanimation to work.
Try this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942976
I don't know why Verizon or HTC (whomever) left it out of our gb updates.
I see your referring to the screen turning off and not the shutdown animation. my bad lol.
and how is this development?

its generally just one edit in bools.xml in the framework-res (at least it is on other phones)
Yea this is really unfortunately HTC left off the Gingerbread lock screen animation. It's my favorite thing about Gingerbread besides the performance tweaks (smooth scrolling).
What they SHOULD have done under "Skins" is have a pure Gingerbread skin that includes this animation, that would have been excellent.
There doesn't seem to be any known way to enable this either

[Q] Screen-off animation?

I've used Froyo on my old phone because it never got Gingerbread, my Play has 2.3.3 and I just realized that it doesn't do that cool CRT screen-off animation. As a matter of fact, it also didn't come with Sony's Xperia launcher, I know that you can download it from here, but it has a lot of bugs. Is that all on the 2.3.4 update that (hopefully) will be available on the Verizon Play? Did I miss something, or did the Xperia Play never come with what I was expecting from an Xperia phone?
Verizon ripped us off, we just have stock android. But you can download the Sony Ericsson launcher and other things from here.
Note: Some items require root. Not all.
...Why Verizon...? Okay, I guess that'll do, I also have root. Thanks.
EDIT: I thought the CRT Screen-off effect was integrated into the Gingerbread firmware, I wonder why it won't happen on the play, it has to be in the source somewhere if that's true. I have all animations set to on.

The CRT animation is supposed to be built into Gingerbread. They must have removed it somehow. Though, from 2.3.4 SonyEricsson has replaced the CRT animation with one of their own. The display kind of quickly fades out into black from corners to middle. Soft and sweet looking in my opinion. I have grown very tired of the CRT animation as of late so I was glad that SE had made something of their own.
Heh, I accidently thanked you for your post when quoting.

I find this very funny, Everyone complains about skins and crap on their android phone, look at motoblur, sense, touchwiz. Everyone wants pure vanilla android.
They give you pure vanilla android, you complain, you want the oem launcher.
This is pathetic and stupid.

Ya, and so are people who don't help the cause.
Anyway, is there a way we could get the cool animation?

There is a tutorial on it in the arc section, the animation is there, it has just been disabled in one of tge .xml files.

I found that and just tried it, it went great until every emulator went into a force close when I tried to change their settings, I also couldn't sync my google account, so I had to go back to my unmodified framework-res.apk.
I wonder if there's a way to replace the sony screen off animation with the crt version. I prefer the crt. I'd also be interested in the possibility of people creating custom screen on/off animations, since Sony was able to do it
