Modified second bootscreen!

My modification of the second bootscreen!
After fiddling around in framework-res/assets/images, I changed the color of the android in the second bootscreen to white, and inadvertently managed to get it to glow red. lol.

edit: figured out why it was glowing red, haha. my robot_boot_glow.png was replaced by one of the cyclon images and renamed to robot_boot_glow.png

Can this be flashed?

yes, I had to modify and flash the framework-res.apk using this command:
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework

I *knew* android was cylon technology.

Yeah, not to burst your bubble, but I did this over a week ago on my Orangedroid theme. Can't blame you though, seeing as how my theme just fails to work for others.

I can back up Phromik on this he did do it first...I got to see it....lol I've done it as well, except I modified the whole background. Someone else already did it as well....I'm posting mine so yall can see..
I also know someone else that did it for a theme he is coming out with maybe he will show it here....

You know, I was just thinking tonight how cool this would be for my theme, now that I see the background is edited too I gotta find out how to do that, I was just going to change the droid

I just posted my Blue_Star_5 Update an it has a blue droid.

Just wondering, does your android glow? or did you just replace splash2 using the fastboot flash command?

So....since I have no experence in even opening apk files,could you make a noob friendly guide? I have a great idea but I dont want it "sensored" by someone else

hmmm, when I try and extract this, like, to edit, the framework is empty, there is no folder or .apk...

Does it work when you try to install the theme?

haven't tried because I want to edit a few things

Bricked my phone when I installed the theme. Any ideas how to fix this? I tried doing a system wipe but doesn't work.

Can you post the background? For some reason the background doesn't show up on my phone anywhere.

Fixed it. I had to reload my sdcard on a blackberry and reapply a different theme.

[Q] How to make status bar background transparent?

hey guys,
how do i make the drop down status bar background transparent ? i have the changed the png with a transparent png of my choice, but even after every thing it still comes as a full black rather than a semi transparent black (which is the picture i replaced the original with).
also, how do i edit the xml file and what do i have to edit to attain transparency in the back ground. i would also love if i could do the same for the lockscreen. since all this is framework-res.apk. how do i correctly decompile and compile back the xmls and whats the best and the correct way to sign the apk back. caz i have been having issuses with reboots and FC's.
i know its alot of questions, but just tryin to learn how to skin/mod android correctly. thank you guys

Black or dark ICS MMS?

I'm running Chicago Remix rom, ICS 4.0.4 and i'm looking for a dark MMS.
I've decompiled the MMS.APK through APKTool but i'm no expert user. I don't know how to change the background color or txt color and such.
If anyone can help me I will take the time to attempt to do it myself... I don't mind some trial and error it can always be fun.

That is my plan to share it of course. I just need to figure out how in gods name to do it. I tried decompiling that apk but it's signed and I can't get to it. I was simply going to try and a little copy and paste on certain things.

Here is a great guide I found at rootzwiki that gives a step by step tutorial on how to edit the Mms apk: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/19845-how-to-theme-your-mms-a-step-by-step-guide/. I found that after I had some help and figured it out. My best advice is to decompile my theme and take a look at it. Most of what you're looking for will be in the layout folder.

I saw an awesome sig the otherday and I tried to reach the guy who made it, but hes an android dev and rarely responds (its been 2 weeks).

An animated gif? for what? Im not looking for just any animated picture to put in my sig, I was looking for something custom that someone could make.

It would take a while. You could use this gif file as a template. Break the gif down into its original .png/jpg files. Then use Photoshop cs5 to edit all those pictures manually. The hardest part will be the transitioning of the letters but should go by pretty quick once you have finished modifying your base/ background layer's color scheme. Then use a a gif making utility to turn your new modified picture sequence into an animated gif and upload as your new signature.
