[Q] Random freezes with ReflexTSenseHD 1.8 - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have had freezes after installing the ReflexTSenseHD 1.8 ROM. I cannot seem to find any correlation in those.
Have had it frozen during calls, randomly in the pocket, while connected to usb etc. The only way to get it working is removing the battery.
Sometimes the lights of the buttons stay on and sometimes not.
One time it had frozen either during a call or right after it ended.
I've tried
32.47.00.32U_5.10.05.23 and
32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 radios and both the default kernel
925mV -NeoPhyTe-2.6.32.28-Halcyon_HAVS.925_CFS_SLQB_VR_v38 and the non-UV kernel
1000mV -NeoPhyTe-2.6.32.28-Halcyon_HAVS.1000_CFS_SLQB_VR_v38.
I've tried setting the freq to min=max=998 with setCPU, uninstalling autokiller and setting up the phone from scratch instead of using Titanium backup.
I did notice that my RIL version is 2.2.0031HM....could this be a problem since as i found from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902752 the radio might not be supported through this RIL. I did not find any info on this RIL version also.
Is there anything i could try? Could i use logcat to get more info from the phone? The problem is that i'm not competent enough to read those logs.
Any help really appreciated.

That RIL is for the latest radio (in my signature) Try the latest radio & see if that helps.

I'm sorry, i don't see any link to radio in your signature. And i couldn't find it through search and google etc.
I have currently downgraded the RIL to HTC-RIL 2.2.0015HM which should be
32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_RIL based on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902752
This radio version is at least suggested to use on the ReflexTSenseHD thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791315
I also didn't restore anything from Titanium Backup this time and i removed AutoKiller. Will test for a couple of days to see if it helped now and post here the results.

A little search in the Desire Android Developement section, and you find the radio thread.
2. The suggested radio is outdated.
But if you downgraded, it should help.

Sorry again, i read that thread but i wasn't sure what RIL it should work against. But hopefully this downgrade does it for me. If not i will try the newest RIL with newest Radio.
Thanks a lot.

Just had a series of crashes with the downgraded rom and RILs. Will try out the new ones. Although i do not understand which RIL should be used for the latest radio from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687464
Any info on that?

The RIL is included in the ROM for the latest version.
TBH, I never flashed RILs and got working everything (always).

I understood also that RIL is a longshot for fixing it. But i have no other ideas at the moment. On next crash i will try to do logcat -b radio. Hopefully there is something interesting there.

Installed LeeDroid ROM now. Lets see if it works with the same radio and everything. I also have the app2d+ set up through ROM Manager and with swap. Maybe should try removing the swap.

I've had two more crashes with LeeDroid. After the first one i uninstalled setCPU and fixed permissions in ROM Manager. Now just had a second one and connected the dead device to adb and did logcat -b radio and logcat. This is what i got. Any ideas what those could be about?

I have downloaded the WWE RUU. Will try to get a microsd to sd adapter, make a goldcard and then try it.

It seems that iNsertCoin 1.9.5 is stable on my phone. Over a week with it and no problems whatsoever. I seem the share the problem that some other people have been having with this rom though. It seems to get a lot slower over time. So i might still end up trying the RUU. Or does anyone have any other suggestions for a good Sense or SenseHD rom that might work for me(share something in common with iNserCoin)?

baseband query

i've flashed a number of radios to my gsm hero, all the raio versions end with a U as in xxx.xxx.xx.eu/xxx.xxx.xx.iu/xxx.xxx.xxx.xxju
currently just flashed the ju radio, but now when i view the baseband version in the settings menu in either modaco or the new kugadroid roms the baseband says 63.18.55.06jh_6.35.08.29
is there anything causin this, or is this normal behaviour?
reason i'm asking is i'm having some wifi problems and trying to locate the cause
(currently turning on wifi on the kugadroid rom causes the rom to reboot, but when i first flashed the baseband said ju, and worked, now it's says jh and reboots the phone)
this happened to me aswell. flashed JU, then suddenly it read JH. if you flash JU again it should read JU again. sorry can't help with your problems, luckily i *never* had any problems with radio whatsoever...
yeah, but it's not just with ju radio, also happens with iu radio and fu radio too.
baseband keeps saying ih,fh or jh (depending on the radio rom)
would love to know what is causing it.
could it be by any chance having the newer spl posted by modaco on nov 24th causing this issue?
not sure. i have the spl too, and it happened to me only once. then again i don't flash radio unless there is a newer version or a rom forces me to use a specific version.

same here. only flash radio rom to update or if new rom requires it.
and now, here's the thing, i flashed with the FU radio earlier, and it's remaining as FU (which is good) but i'm stll getting issues with WiFI -- mainly messages like " Unable to start Wi-Fi", or "Unable to stop Wi-Fi"
it's rather frustrating and i can't seem to find the source of the issue at all.

[Q] GPS problem - very strange

I have a GPS problem, and despite reading a number of the threads in the forum and trying the usual fixes (downloading GPS Status, clearing downloaded data, re-downloading A-GPS data, factory reset, upgrading to 2.3.3 etc...) I still figure out what's wrong.
Symptoms are:
I do have a GPS icon in the task bar in the apps where I would expect it appear
I never get a lock
Both GPS Status and GPS Test seem to indicate I have *no* signal from any sats
I am outside when I try this
aLogcat seesm to show no NMEA data, though I've never read a logcat entry for working GPS, so I'm guessing a bit here. It does show GPS start up and shutdown lines however
It didn't work in 1.84, when I downgraded, and it still doesn't work in 2.3.3 - seems to be version independant!
Does anyone have any bright ideas? It's really irritating. As a side note, the phone isn't rooted (as I forgot to S-off when I upgraded to 2.3.3) though it could be downgraded fairly easily if there was a good reason to do it...
Thanks!
If it has never worked and you have wiped the device, re-installed etc....
Then I would guess that it may be a defective unit...

1. are you running custom roms? if so which?
2. have you updated your radio and made sure that the RIL is matching?

1. Nope. The stock 2.3.3 RUU and before that the UK T-Mobile Stock 1.84 ROM.
2. Stock only, so standard RIL.

That is my fear. It did work when I first got it, but it now doesn't on any ROM. Unfortunately I can't quite work out what changed...
If this is the problem, does anyone know a way to get back on the T-Mobile official ROM so i can take it back to the shop?
Hi there, Your best bet would be to try and downgrade, root and flash a matched ROM, RIL & radio to retest. This happened to me a while back and this was the only thing that sorted it. CoreDroid has been particularly good for GPS on my DHD, hope this helps

Yeah - I tried the Coredroid rom - no dice. Think that confirms it's hardware. Back to stock and then back to the shop for this one.
I heard rumours that early DHDs were flaky for GPS. Guess that confirms it for me...
Had exactly the same problem with mine after using the gingerbread ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056329
Are there different versions for different countries? Maybe this only works in the US or something? I'm guessing here!
Are there different stock ROMS for different countries/ networks? I didn't write down the version numbers before updating

Couple of issues with Wifi/Radio updates

So I recently installed MIUI, and as soon as I did my Wifi radio stopped working. Every time I try to switch it, it turns back off and says "error."
I figured this was a problem with my radio (26.02.01.15_M2) when I found another irksome problem. When I go to flash PC10IMG.zip the bootloader gets to "Checking PC10IMG.zip) and then quits and refuses to attempt the update.
Any ideas?
I apologize if this question has been asked, but I couldn't find anything similar in the short search I did.
Thanks in advance!
Could be a bad download? Which Radio are you trying to flash?
Download the radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970809
Dont know what ROM you are running but Vision_Radio_12.52. 60.25_26.08.04.30 seems to be a good one, download the attached file for wiping the EFS(Important when flashing radios)
The link has further instructions and information, hope that helps
Hey, thanks for your response! I actually tried three different Radios from that thread (the first three), and none of them worked. I ran an efs wipe yesterday because I was having GPS problems, and these problems persisted after that...
FWIW, when I flash other kernels/ROMs, things work fine (CM7, PyroMod, Stock) but on MIUI these problems crop up.

Do you mean you can update the radio with other ROMs or do you mean that the wifi problem is only on MIUI?If your problem is only with MIUI cant help as I dont use that ROM but still doesnt explain your problem with flashing a radio as the bootloader is independent of the ROM
I think the wifi radio and the cellular radio are different and when you flash the radio firmware, it only updates the cellular radio firmware. Someone more knowledgable than me will probably correct me. It's probably something screwy with the MIUI roms which is effecting you. If you want to use MIUI then try one of the other MIUI roms that are out there and also notify the developer of the MIUI rom your using about your issue.
I hate the recent radios for G2 latest one from Bell sucks. Signal drops every few seconds, data connection is just OK. Very disappointed. I did the efs wipe and auto ril matcher V6 and all this other bs and I hate it.

[Q] CM 7.1 no GPS or Bluetooth!!

ok im a noob and cant find what im looking for, ive read around and i see a radio change or upgrade would fix this but im reluctant to flash as i have the latest radio (13.55.55.24h_3.35.20.10)
can someone help me out or point me in the right direction please!!??
thanks in advance!
Irrespective of the version you have, you have to reflash the radio. (Even if you are reflashing it with the same version you are having). A longer alternative is to go back to a Sense ROM, keep GPS on there, get a fix, and reinstall CM7 without turning off GPS, but, for your BT issues you will probably have to reflash the radio anyway.

[Q] Phone restarts when using 3G (GSM/WCDMA)

Hi XDA people,
This is my first post in XDA and its a problem i am facing. Whenever i switch to GSM/WCDMA Mode and start using the 3G internet, the phone restarts with 5 - 7 vibrating alerts. I did searched this forum before posting and got similar posting for HTC Buzz
BIG ISSUE: 3G problem..!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823816
Went through that and found out that by updating the radio this problem can be fixed, so went ahead to find the udpated radio and hboot and updated them using RUU, got a tutorial for the same in XDA forums
So updated Radio from 7.53.39.03M to 7.54.39.28M
Hboot : 1.08.0000
But the problem is still there, as soon as i switch it to 3G mode, i can see the H symol comes up for the GPRS and the network changes to R (Roaming- no clues why this happens but i am fine with this as long it works.) and within minutes it restarts making 5-7 vibrating alerts before rebooting.
can someone help me with this, is there a way to fix this for HTC Wildfire S (Marvel)

it happened to me, the only solution I found was flash the backup of my original Rom Sense PREROOT, turn on 3G and check that it worked.
Then without turning off the 3G flash another rom clean (a bit like the problem of the gps).
is a bit long but I was going crazy, my Willy sometimes restarted.
it may be useful with my HTC Buzz it worked ... but you're rooted?

Yes i am rooted, also i dont have any stock backup
I read in the forums that in HTC buzz if you update to an older radio then wipe cache then update to a higher radio version it fixes it, but i need to find out if that would work for MARVEL, and what would be versions that i should switch to.
thanks for the help

Hi Eventcom, i went through the forum and found that you too had this same problem of bootloop after switching to 3g. I see that you have Buzz, just wanted to know will this simiar fix (update older radio, wipe cache, update to newer radio) can be applied on HTC wildfire Marvel as well.
I have posted my question after a lot of search, got similar threads for BUZZ but none for MARVEL, can you please help.

Well, I don't know anything about the Marvel. Both phones are quite different besides their names and enclosure.
Anyway I don't think that your phones radio will be touched when flashing a ROM or restoring a nandroid backup or that you could wipe, clear or format your radio partition - so in theory it could work with the Marvel, too.
A short explanation about the whole thing: The Buzz has well known issues with the radio (no GPS or BT, WiFi probs) - even directly after rooting and flashing the first custom ROM. There's also a chance that something might go wrong or get messed up when flashing different ROMs, installing tweaks etc. and the problem is that the radio resides on a separate partition which can't be wiped or formatted. All this sounds pretty logical to me but I'm not a developer so I might be totally wrong
The solution seems to be to flash a different radio (older/newer doesn't matter) to "overwrite" the current one - and sometimes reflash the current ROM again.
The problem I had has been hard to spot and even harder to solve. Luckily I found out that switching on 3G initiated the reboots (after quite a while and by accident, really). I made a lot of tests and could put it down to that (WiFi, 2G had no probs - phone rebooted only when switching to 3G or switching on data when 3G has been activated/chosen).
Furthermore I found the "solution" by accident, too: I reflashed the current radio without any success. Then I also tried an older radio - no success. So, as a final attempt, I started to download a RUU to reset the phone to factory condition.
The download server has been awful slow - it took ages to download the file - so I (almost randomly) decided to flash the previous radio again.
I couldn't believe it: that did the trick. (Luckily) I rebooted again, switched on data and 3G and noticed that the phone didn't reboot anymore.
So if you're able to flash a different radio - just give it a try. For the Buzz you need to be S-OFF to flash a radio - no idea about your phones.
I'd be glad if that would work for the Marvel, too :fingers-crossed:
I found this tread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485345
if you do not solve in any other way you could give it a try
I do not know the Marvel, but the Buzz htc are not all the same, the same solution to different results :silly:
