Any dev on here ever considered modifying the TORCH app with the strobe to make the camera LED strobe on incoming call.. or flash every minute or so for a notofication??? Ive done this before with a .pat file for a z3 rizr, but not to familiar with doing something like this for android. Thoughts? Comments??

I think LEDmeknow might be the app that does the flashing on calls, I know I read about it a few months ago.
Tried that app. Kind of cool how it makes the main menu home button back button flash along with the trackpad -- but does NOT make camera LED flash. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of that app.

You are going to want this app: http://db.tt/9m8CqOS
I've been using it for my past 3 phones and it works perfectly on all of them. Including on this one both Froyo and Gingerbread.
NICE thanks you!!!

I particularly am fond of the DEATH RAY flashlight built into cyanogenmod all you have to do is pull down your notification bar and hit the flash..and it will turn night into day. Its so bright it will blind someone if you direct it in their face.
vision
Cyanogenmod comes with a handy Torch application
I have a original Torch app on my desire Z. European.. pre installed!!
Is there a mod that makes the keyboard backlight flash like the trackpad when you get a text?

Any response?

Haven't heard of such an app, especially since most people keep the keyboard closed when not typing...

Why
Because it would be cool.
+1 I think this would be a cool app just to show lmfao

well for instance if you were searching the market or something and get a message or a phone call, it would be really cool in my opinion just for looks if nothing else.
i think there is no app for this, but it is possible to do it with tasker.
there is a plugin for tasker which can can use root-rights, or start scripts with root rights. so in you know the right command to turn the backlight on and off you can do it with tasker in a script.
--edit--
the command to turn off the lights:
echo 0 > sys/class/leds/keyboard-back
and to turn on
echo 255 > sys/class/leds/keyboard-back
but i forget the name of the plugin ^^
Can anyone tell my why the flashlight app turns on when my phone is in sleep mode? It will just do it on its own and I've checked running apps and all and its not running. Should I uninstall?

yes uninstall...somethings not right...check to see if you have a profile setup
Someone else reported that one of the flashlight apps did this. Lose it and get another one...there are dozens in the market.
I've tried a ton of flashlight apps and most of them didn't work properly on my epic. The one I am currently using is called Tiny Flashlight + LED. It works perfect, give it a try!

The flashlight on T989 is probably the 2nd brightest I've seen on a phone, but nowhere near as bright as the dual-LED HTC. I loved stunning (literally, as in blinding) people with the HD2. The extra brightness came in handy many times. This is my biggest complaint about GS2, by far. Otherwise, I've grown to really liking it.

I always thought my hd2 was so bright until I tried a nexus one on cyanogen mod and I put like the super bright feature and omg that one led destroyed the hd2. It lit up an entire backyard

Another thing with all the flashlight apps I've tried is that all of them have only on/off; my Kumar ROM WM6.5 flashlight app on the HD2 has low/medium/high. Anyone know if this is a hardware or Android limitation?

Was your HD2 on WM or Android? When I went with upgraded WM ROMs, the flashlight was way brighter than on the stock TMo, although even stock the HD2 is pretty bright.

You can have varying levels of brightness. The app just has to support it.
lol what? really? the flashlight is your complaint?
Not the fact that the screen is low res or has issues with blobs and vertical lines?
If the flashlight was my only problem, I would have kept the phone(s).
Use CM7 with the flashlight app, and you can get some awesome brightness.

Not 100% Sure what you looking for, but this app can switch the lights off, I started this thread a few days ago. Hope it helps.

edit: Sorry I see the title properly now. my bad this isn't what you are looking for, I will see what info I can find regarding this.
You can do it with Tasker if u are rooted. Just tested sms notification and it works, however little buggy when screen is off (when u need it lol). It is lit up, and blinks but with a very long interval due to slow update I guess.
Good thing is that it works for any app that uses notifications.
