hello
i got scratches on the sides and dents on the sides of the phone on the green part. these dents are only on the edges. so i was wondering if there is a way to replace the edging somehow ?
The edges of my vibrant has some scratches too. Have you tried any scratch remover??

When I first bought the SGS2, I got with it a TPU gel case from ebay. Recently, I removed the case and discovered the device is covered with scuffs and hairline scratches in the back bottom and bezel of the device, most probably due to the dust between the phone and cover itself.
I am just wondering, since they are not deep scratches, is there any polish cream that you guys recommend in order for me to get rid of these scratches?
Thanks
this is a problem with all cases.
any plastic solvent / polishing / buffing will disintegrate the paint as well..
you can try invisible shield or wrapsol (not sure if wrapsol has gsII model)
its a plastic screen protector, except its not just for the screen, its for the whole phone.
it doesn't protect against falls though
perhaps .. invisibleshield + your case = no scratches? might be a lil thick though

thanks for the reply
i have tried invisibleshield on other devices before and i didnt find it that useful specially after using it for some time the transparent material becomes dark and dirty and starts peel off
i was thinking of using displex since it removes scratches from plastic screens
I read that the gap between the bezel and the glass is to help with the glass expanding due to heat, but it seems to collect dust a lot and its driving me nuts. Anyone know of a way to prevent this or a slim case that covers the gap so dust does not get in there?
i don't see a problem with my phone, mostly because the case is hiding it all LOL
and even when i do take out the case, i don't see dirt collecting there
i just go blow it off easily with a gasp of air with my mouth
Mine too!!! Have 2 white specs in top left side and don't wanna stick something in there and scratch it... Annoying thing is that my d30 case covers everything up but that little damn corner where the power button is... Ugh

I just noticed this dust accumulating in there today. Hrm.
just puff it every now and then to prevent excess accumulation and prevent it from turning into dirt
this is between the bezel and glass .. so not under the glass right? this is a huge problem with my nexus one and don't want another phone where i have to deal with it
I use the body glove case from tmobile when I'm at work. My work enviroment is extremely dirty and very dusty. I mean to the point where you clean the area and by the end of the day there is a pretty thick layer of flux (lets just say dust) everywhere.
When I take my case off on the weekend my bezel is clean

The SAMOLED screens are fused to the class so there is no gap for dust to collect.
To get rid of the dust I use a stiff lens cloth damp with lens fluid and use a corner to clean. Works perfectly

dust between the bezel/screen common problem with any phone that has gap between the bezel and screen. like one person said, the digitizer is fused with the actual screen on Super Amoled screens. so dust shouldn't get underneath. However, screen repair cost more due to the fact the whole screen+digitizer has to be replaced instead of one or the other.
to get the dust out,I usually just take a very thin paper, fold it in half, and slide it. I've been doing the same method on my past phones.
Apologies if this has been covered - didn't find anything in search ...
Most of the cases for GS3 - especially the gel TPU cases that I like for grip - have a molded "racetrack" edge that runs around the perimeter of the phone. Problem I've noticed is that dust gets collected in the corners because it has nowhere to slide off.
I found some cases that only wrap along the sides on the face of the phone. That is, the upper & lower edges of the phone are exposed. Bad for drop protection but I like that the dust can just be wiped off (and often does just pulling it out of my pocket). Problem is, these types of cases are usually hard plastic and just as slippery as the plastic on the phone itself. I just received one that was sold as TPU but it's only slightly more grippy - nothing even close to the gel TPU cases.
Is there a TPU gel case that leave top or top & bottom open? Or is there a way to keep dust from collecting in the corners without constantly peeling off the edge & wiping away? I took an Xacto knife and sliced away the upper edge of the gel TPU case and that works but looks kinda crappy.
Dont think such case exsist imo. The closest to what u need it the rearth ringke slimelite. But like u mentioned the top and bottom are uncovered. But the edges and corners are covered for some slight drop protection. Also has lay on table feature

Thanks. Yeah, that slim lite is very similar to the one I have which is open top & bottom. It is "soft feeling" but doesn't give nearly the grip of TPU gel cases.
Oh the ringke has great grip. Love the grip it has. I have never dropped it once with that case on, and i have butter fingers lol. Btw i currently have the zoogue and don't get any dust underneath at all. I work in the oilfield so i should know. I take it off couple times a week to wipe it down and havent seen any dust particles on the edge nor the backside.

Interesting. I wonder if mine being a cheaper version has a harder TPU that is not as grippy as the ringke. Gonna look into that. Not sure why I'm getting so much dust in the wrap-around lip cases. Maybe overly linty pockets!
What case are u having issues with? Is it a generic tpu case

Yeah, generic TPU case that has the standard lip that wraps around the perimeter of the screen. Seems like dust gets attracted to the screen and then scoots its way to the corners since the lip prevents it from sliding off.

Swapped my case today and noticed some fine scratches on the sides of the glass.
Not the flat portion you actually use but the glass that curves around to the sides.
Has anybody else noticed any scratching on the unprotected parts of glass? Or is everyone considering these "acceptable" since that glass is vulnerable?
Are there any wet apply screen protectors out that cover the ENTIRE surface area of glass?
Up until now I haven't seen any

Correct me if I'm wrong but that doesnt curve and cover the glass on the sides?
I actually think those bits on the side are plastic, they're definitely not one solid piece along with the glass (aka its the glass + two side pieces)
Anyway, yea mine are not perfect, doesnt bother me.

I wanted to paint the metal/chrome bezel around the screen black like the note 4 so that my whole phone will have that stealth black look. I have a couple dings and scuffs on the bezel right now. Is there any way to remove the metal bezel to paint separately or can it be on the phone as is. Will this affect gps or signal? I don't want to use a case.

The 'metal' bezel is in fact plastic so just take that into account before painting anything. Check out the below repair guide to see how things come apart.
