I dont have any complaints with my phone. Im running htc kernel #17 and myn's warm2.2
The phone is great to me as it sits, so is there any other features that should sway me to flashing a new kernel?
also whats the difference between HAVs and non-HAVs? Whats sbc? Dont tell me to search because I did and well didnt get much, only on BFS and CFS
Imo, if you like your kernel don't change it. When I find a good kernel I stick with it . Just my 2 cents

Thats kinda what I was thinking.. but I dont know whats out there ya know? Is there really something better out there for battery and speed versus the HTC #17? I seen alot of myn's running the stock kernel. So that could be they are happy with it, or maybe they haven't flashed anything over it yet.
Surely with all the knowledge out here, there has to be a kernel that still utilizes great battery with more speed.
Heat does effect these phones right? Like life span of the CPU, battery etc.
Just a quick question...I'm running 3.70....and I'm currently using kernel 15.
Which kernel gives the best battery life?
Thanks.

like nuggy said, it depends. it seems like everytime i update my rom i need a new kernel to go with it.
i personally recommend netarchy's. i used his 4.1.9.1 kernel with great results for a long time, but recently upgraded to his 4.2.1.
you can check evobenchers for a general rundown on what kernels are running at, but once again, every phone handles things differently and your results may vary.

I have an HTC Evo 4G rooted running Myn's rls 5 .
What's the best kernel to get the most out of my battery ?
Sent From One BadAss Rooted Evo 4G On Myn's Warm 2.2 Rls 5 Steroids Via XDA App. ;-)
ima straight flash addict. ive flashed 95% of evo roms and kernels out there, unmatched battery life is SBC kernel #15. it honestly lasts me all day and im a heavy user but apperently it can lead to your phone blowing up ive never had that problem tho so ill keep taking the risk
Others are right. Try a few and see what works best. Try Netarchy's HAVS kernels with SBC for full battery and smartass or conservative governor (SetCPU from the market to set it easily).
SBC got a little harder to find recently, but it's out there, just not on the main netarchy page. Give the devs a little time and they'll work out the right legalese to appease the fear mongers...
I have myn rls5 as well and I use netarchy's 4.3.1 no SBC with cfs and havs (the newest beta) and have been doing okay with it. I typically have about 15%-25% at the end of an average day. It also improves the speed of myn rls5, which I like.
I gave up SBC for all my nandroid backed-up roms when everyone stopped supporting it, but I do still have SBC #15 v7 if you would like it (PM me and I'll upload it to you).
Keep in mind that a few people have claimed that it destroyed their battery, but I didn't overclock and all the data I've read on my phone tells me that everything was fine. So obviously, no one is responsible for your phone blowing up but you, lol.
I used SBC #15 v7 for about 2 and a half weeks and it was the best battery life I had. I ended every day at about 30% battery life and I'm a moderate user. When I flash to mikfroyo, I keep that kernel as the performance of the rom plus the battery life is a combo from awesomeville.
So I decided to root my evo a couple of days ago but I didnt flash any roms so Im still using the stock sense ui. Are there any good battery kernels to use with stock sense ui because Im having a hard time finding any? What do you guys suggest?

If I were running a sense ROM I would flash Netarchy's kernels...
netarchy or ziggy's are your main choice listed on XDA. else where on the web you can find Baked kernel and kings kernel.
i would just start with Netarchy and see how it goes.
Thanks alot guys. Ill try them out...
I'm kind of slow with this. Which file would I download if I wanted to use a kernal out of this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876590

First make sure u read up on SBC so you are aware of any 'possible ' issues. That said I use SBC, and I would use the netarchy 4.2.2 less aggressive HAVS
i dont really suggest using a SBC kernel personally. if you decide yuo want to it depends the more aggresive the undervolt the better the battery. this can impact performance and not all phones like an aggressive undervolt kernel and can reboot more often.
I would jsut find the netarchy kernel thread itself and lookf or the latest and try the aggressive undervolt kernel. if you have performance issues (random reboots) then flash the less aggressive one.
I'm not really digging an SBC Kernal as well. You of any good kernels that aren't SBC?
SBC-HTC15
Best yet

Just look for netarchys thread... they don't have SBC
Really surprised no one sent you to MYN's warm 2.2 rom thread....great rom....lots of great kernal options....lots of mods...it truly is the king of roms for your evo...give it a try you won't be disappointed...let me know if you have any questions. Mike

so, i get a hair up my butt every couple weeks or so and load up a new rom. there are certainly some good ones out there (thanks to all you coders!). but i always wind up going back to stock. between the features of sense and the stability and the non-fc's, it just seems to work best for me.
but, if i could eek a little more performance out of the stock rom, i wouldn't say no to that. so, can anyone recommend a kernel that runs well on the stock rom (no fc's!) and can get me a little more oomph? there seems to be quite a few, and instead of trial and error, i thought someone here might know...
thx!

I think he meant stock as in Sense, not Vanilla/AOSP.
thx, guys. yes, I did mean the stock rom w/sense.

I am using Inc-Re-Engineered, and so far, I love it. So much faster, completely customizable, and all around kickass.
I would recommend it to anyone.
thx for the suggestion, cleveratticus. not really what i was asking, though...
i have the same question, i dont want to flash a new rom if i can get good kernel that might extend battery life. ive been looking a while and it looks like i might have to finally try the heyitslou kernel
HeyItsLou's #8 never fails me on stock sense/Redemption. Ever.
Awesome battery life, smooth as butter.
ya, but i need multi-touch. well, maybe i dont NEED it, but i want it for games and such

Then try his #7... it supports 3-10 multi touch. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859337
what does 3-10 multi touch mean?? also, are any of these able to be overclocked by setcpu?
it means you can use from 3 to 10 fingers simultaneously.
okay, cool. i got lou's #9 installed and running. thx for the tip, tim.ton.

None of Lou's custom kernels are meant to be overclocked, as far as I know.
If you're looking for one that does, try one of Ziggy's.

I personally like Chad's incredikernals. Great battery and oc'd to 1113
The most stable kernel and best on battery that I have used is the virtuous custom kernel (v3). It has worked great with several roms I have used.
Im running chads 12/23 kernel for sense and it gives me great battery life (which for me is 16-20 hours) and im running magnolia 1.1.1 rom

+1 ...his kernels rock with sense and battery life!!!
Lou's #9 has given best battery life for me on virtuous, redemptive, and warm 2.2 roms. Quadrants scores are also on par if not better with it
not to take anything away from lou or his work, but that kernel wound up not working well for me; lots of hangs and fc's. went back to the stock kernel today and everything is *****en! thx to all for your input.
So I ended up with the Sprint Lovers ROM on my phone via the Autoroot method.
It has been great so far, battery life is tons better, but it isnt perfect. I find it laggy at times.
So, my question is, where should I go from here? What would be a good ROM to transition to? Seems like Fresh, Warm 2.2, and EViO are some of the more recommended ROMs.
I am also liking what I believe is the look of vanilla android. At least, the set-up I see on the Nexus phones. That being said, what does everyone recommend for ROMs of that style?
Gingerbread- CM7 w/ Tiamat kernel
Sense- King's Ultra or Myn's w/ a net-archy kernel
cm7, its lovely
Try every single one. It's like getting a new phone every week or however often you flash.
Cm7 or my new home; salvage mod 1.1

MIUI. The only thing I wish was that it had 4g. If you can find the version before the most recent, I would go with that.
if u love sense based rom, then u will love sense 2.0 based rom
try Warm Z or recently released MikZ
Yes, Sense 2.0 is much better if you can live without 4g. I would recommend trying Warm RLS5, Warm Z, MikFroyo, Kings Unleashed, VaelPak, Miui and CM7 or variant of.
Myn's Warm Z is to die for.
Koni's new elite 3 is off the chain. Nets 4.3 bfs more haves sbc= all day fun.

Vaelpak has had me drooling on my screen every night. I love CM7, but the GPS bug kills me.=[ Oh Warm Two Point Two is awesome too but it doesn't float my boat when it comes to gaming. Even with a netarchy kernel. =\
Sent From My E\/o - \/aelpak 3.2
If you like Sense and the way that Sprint Lovers in general operates, I'd say there's no reason to switch out to a completely different ROM. Just get a new kernel, the netarchy kernels are pretty nice in my experience. And then just set up SetCPU for some overclocking fun.
At least that's what I did, but I'm really very particular in how I want my rom to look and work. If you're more open minded, then there's no reason to not go out and try different roms like the ones recommended above.
CM7, just do the REALLY simple GPS fix beforehand. It's beaten like a dead horse in the nightly thread. Then flash it and you'll never want to go back to sense.
Agreed on vaelpak. Flashed 6 roms in 5 days. Have kept vaelpak for 2 weeks since then.

definitely cm7
How does a ROM help battery life? Mine SUCKS! Won't last an 8 hour shift with mild use. I'm on the SprintLovers ROM from UAR. I bought the Sedio Extended battery and it's only mildly better with more bulk. What gives??
You need to flash a custom kernel till you find the rite fit for your phone. I use nets 4.3 sbc more havs and with the 3500 extended battery I can get a little over 24 hours with heavy use.

Explain that please. I'll find and figure out flashing the kernal, but what does "more havs" mean? Misspell? Just making sure I'm not missing an acronym. There's no way my battery will last 24. You have the Sedio?

This link will explain everything you need to know about kernels with more havs, less havs, sbc, no sbc, it should help you a lot. I get 24 hours plus with heavy usage. I have the sedio 3500 mah battery.
