Benchmark - Defy General

Hi, i would like to start a new post to comment the difference between roms in terms of speed/battery duration, so please post your benchmark points and estimated duration time of battery.
thanks

this should not be in dev section.
well, since it's already here, i'll give my input anyway;
tmo & uk versions are roughly the same while pl version is noticably faster as far as benchmark goes.

i just got 1183 @ quadrant
1ghz/52vsel
UK 3.4.2-117 (Froyo) @ jboogie3's blurlessginger4 (final)
will run another one after a reboot.
/edit
1130 after reboot
/edit 2
now 1203 :B
idc, as long as it runs as smooth as it does now

Stock China Froyo - bloatware removed
I get scores from 1200 to 1280, most of the times it's around 1230-1240 (800mhz)
This is the best and the fastest ROM i tried, by the way i tried all the other Froyo ROMs* except the PL deblured one.
Edit: *I tried all the other "downgradable" Froyo ROMs.

I'm on UK 3.4.2-117 stock FW
All the motoblur stuff is installed
1.1Ghz @ 62 Vsel
1473 Quadrant score
Battery with 3g and Wifi standby time is somehere around the 50-55 hours.

i dug out my old scores.
PL gives me [email protected] [email protected]
UK gives me [email protected] [email protected]
both without bloatwares

fresh(+ Black status bar mod) UK 3.4.2-117 fw @ 1.3ghz
fresh(+ all Black status bar mod) Orange Deblur BlurlessGingerFroyo 4(Final) with performance update @ 1.3ghz
both using same settings in SetVsel all in all very happy with my phone

HK 2.51.0 version. Got 900+ at stock speed, and 1200+ at 1000Hz/52Vsel.
Actually there really no need to overclock in my case. Just feel better to have 1g CPU

Quadrant says nothing i have got 1804 on stock +OC orange froyo but it is totaly unstable even without oc.

Can not post links :/

Here are some screenshots from jboogies Rom, running on 800 Mhz, 1Ghz and 1,2Ghz.

ok, thank you guys. this post it's becoming very interesting. xD
So that in conclusion. Which rom do you think it's more stable/fast/better battery draining?

Jboogie3 stems nice to me so far
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App

do you recommend it to me better than others?

I just ran Quadrant Standard then and got a score of 1059.
That is running the stock AUS Telstra firmware with root access.
Is this good, bad what?

cpu @ 1200mhz + higgsy 3.4.2 rc2 rom: 1578 pts

That's just normal. I get 1080 to 1120 on stock sytemversion 2.2.1 with the standard 2.1 Eclair. In use it is smooth (only the appdrawer is laggy but how often do you go there?). Note: my first run is always a little slower.
Curious if the european update to systemversion 2.5.1 from Moto is making a difference, It's available now; will update next week.

(using Pays 2.0) 1211 points at stock 800Mhz, 1593 points at 1200Mhz (w/ default vsel 53)

Hi
I set mine at 60/1200, quadrant shows 1615 ..
on this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933555
Thanks.

[Q] HTC Desire Speed Improvements

Hi,
Not sure if this is mean't to go in here, so apologies firstly if it isn't.
My friend has a Samsung Galaxy S Android phone and from Stock 2.1 he gets a score of about 800 from Quadrant. He looked on the forums and noticed a post for a fix to do with application lagging here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760571
This is an APK which appears to install a EXT2 partition on the internal SD card/memory. This increased the Quadrant score to over 2100, not so far from 3 times the score without the fix. The ROM itself has not changed, he still has stock installed, but his phone was rooted to do this.
My Desire now looks feeble in comparison to the Galaxy, with a score of around 1100 in Quadrant. I am running the LeeDroid ROM and have the latest radio installed.
I don't know enough about the make up of the two phones or enough experience of Linux to know if this is possible on the Desire. If someone can get a similar performance increase in the Desire, that would be amazing.... Any ideas?
Thanks
Jason
are you using Lee's 1.9a ROM? if so, it addded a new default governeur(sp?) for setCPU that's interactive.. when you first run quadrant, it'll always show a low score cause the CPU runs slow, then ramps up as it's needed.. Run the test a few times back to back, and see the score rise. I'm getting into the mid to high 1300's steady after running it a couple times to get the CPU up there.
Have you read the FAQ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7620940&postcount=2
There he explains what this fix is and why it works and why it probably only really works on the Galaxy
PS: your Quadrant score is pretty low, I get about 1500-1600 without overclocking. However the Galaxy S haas a faster hardware.

Finding the ultimate quadrant rom

Hi, i'm testing lots of roms for my motorola defy cause i'm looking for the one who as the better score overclocked at 1.25ghz so please if you think that the rom that you're using rocks, share your quadrant score, and your overclocking settings on this thread. i now that the
Ps: if you want me to try a rom and upload his quadrant score say it and i will do it as soon as possible but i will not test 2.1 or froyosense rom except if they fix the h264 bug
I never use any custom rom, just stock asia 2.1 (2.51.0), orange 2.2, and finland 2.2. In my case the finland rom has slightly higher quadrant scores than the others, around 50~100 at 1000MHz.
BTW when quadrant scores are compared, make sure the H264 issue is accounted for http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=956645.
I know that some roms are unable to decode h264 movies and this is why I will not test the froyo sense rom until they fix that bug

no one is interested ?
I get around 1100 at stock speed on Pays Rom. Nice rom

About what ?

How far can you push your defy?

As the title says whats the max o/c can you get out of your defy?
Im on standard 2.1 and can get 1300mhz @ 80vesl and get 1388 in quadrant.
So if your a o/c nutter and try an get the max out of everything tell us what ya can get!
Sent from my Defy using XDA App
I'm getting 1348 at the stock 800 mhz :/ Got about the same when overclocked. So, meh.
1350/80 stable, 1409 in quadrant. (stock rom)
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
Pays ROM v5
Quadrant: 1405
setVsel: [email protected] (haven't tried higher than 1100Mhz yet)
I got 14xx (no trick) with 1000 @ 50 and 16xx (no trick) with 1200 @ 62 on finland 2.2.
For how long and how hot did your Defy get?
it ran for about an hour at 1350, and the max temprature was 39°C as i recall. based on abc's results, that jit in 2.2 is a big performance hit, looking forward to the official update

Just ran 1400mhz @ 95vsel
1508 on quadrant
Ran stability test for 2hrs30mins @28°c (had it sitting on an icepack haha)
Stock 2.1 and its very snappy.
Sent from my thumbs
just run [email protected]
quadrant 1709 1st score, 1671 2nd score.
2.2.1 froyo, 3.4.2-155
i got 1589 with 60/1200
Can running such high frequencies and vsels regularly damage the CPU? I'm kind of scared of toasting it, so i stopped at 1100/60 (scaled with setvsel)

i dont think so... did the stability test for around 15 minutes and the temp stays at 38 C
60/1200 with threshold at 80%, everything is so smooth

Hmm, i know have it at 62/1200, with threshold at 60%. 80% makes it feel a little laggy.
Hopefully the processor will last the life of the phone at these settings!

Basic defy information

Hey guys...i am planning to buy defy so just wanted to know some information from the users....
1. How many ghz can defy be overclocked too
2. Best ROM

many roms are best roms not one.
yes we have 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 leaked releases
battery life depends on you for me its 24hrs
max quadrant score 2100 +
requesting moderator to move this thread in general section
I'm using miui.us 1.6.24 and my phone is a flyer. I can overclock to 1.3ghz but stay at 1.2ghz. My battery life is around 30 hours and my Max quadrant score @ 1.2 ghz was 2884 at 1.3ghz it is 3064. Neocore I've yet to try. Cm7 did NOT agree with my battery as I got 6 hours from that rom
Sent from my MB525 using XDA Premium App
1. Mine is 800mhz, underclocked and undervolted for batery saving
2. 2.2.2 nordic 177 flawless
3. yes, not good enough for my taste tho, feels like not realy meant for defy.
4. for me, great!! 2 days on stand by, 24 hours of normal use (few calls, many emails and some bt headset), 10 hours of HEAVY use (bt headset + 3g/wifi internet radio all day + games)
5. 1200 ~ 1400
6. dont think so, locked bootloader =[

Defy+ = high frequency roundkicks or just serious OC

Hi,
Im trying to get a bit of rock ´n roll out of my Defy+ thru serious overclocking,
im running MS2Ginger 3.0 at the moment that doesnt seem to be the perfect rom for getting great speeds, but it works.
Been running 1350Mhz for a while which seems to work rather good, going to 1400 makes my Defy more sluggish than a led slug. So that doesnt work, atleast not for what i can see.
The problem i see is when running Quadrant benchmarks, i only get numbers around 300 on the 2D test, is that normal?
Can someone tell me about a rom that could make me roll even faster and higher up in the result lists of Quadrant benchmark?
Regards.
So 214 views and nobody knows anything? Sounds impoosible on this forum
Don't know much about fast ROMs but everybody brags about CM7, of course. Also there are some people who claim Mokee os (CM7 Based) is the fastest. Check them out and let us know what you find out
Anyway, they say Quadrant isn't everything.

Ok they say the Defy is a rugged phone but hell knows if that would be healthy for it. But as they say it aint the speed that kills its suddenly coming to a stop that kills so maybe i should go for a try
I recommend setting max and min to 1350 and also performance governor, on v6 supercharger before benching run an enginge flush and kill all apps using process manager except quadrant
DEFYing the Android planet with ICS
Ok i´ll try that V6 thingie but before that i thought i would tell what i have noticed so far.
MS2Ginger stayed around 1900 score on Quadrant with a top of 2100.
CyanogenMod seems to stay around 2400 with a peak of 2501 so far.
CyanogenMod seems to be better on the hardware tests except on the graphical parts where it seems to drop a couple of FPS, Anyone know any good
advice to maximize the graphical parts of CM?
A fun thing to notice is that with the original settings and MS2Ginger i achieved a score of 1350 and now riding around 2500, pretty nice.
One down thou with CM is that i woke up this morning without a statusbar and when the alarm went off i couldnt shut it off except for rebooting the phone.

Ok now im un-supercharged again, either i did something very wrong or that script only worked in the wrong direction on my Defy+. Installed it and ended up running 1700 - 1800 scores on Quadrant, uninstalled it and is now back to 2300, dont know where the last 100 - 200 points ended up, will do some more tests before moving on to the Mokee OS rom.
Have a safe day/evening
I jujst wanted to say that im in no way is trying to put down the MS2Ginger developers work, this is just me and personal opinions in the hunt for a better performing Defy+
Cheers
in my opinion, oc-ing the defy to over 1.2ghz makes no sense and it only damages your cpu in the long run. i think that managing your ram gives a lot smoother experience than oc-ing your phone, because the only apps that dont run smooth on this little beauty are hd games, but they were never intended to. im using ram manager pro from market (play store), try it, maybe it helps!
