[Q] Phone dies at 13% battery - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys (and maybe girls? ;p),
My phone dies at about 13% battery... this had been going for several months now... and I'm still not getting used to it.
People around me walk about until their phone has got 1 %, and then it turns off... mine turns off at 13%. Also, when I connect it to power and boot it up again, it says 0%.
I tried calibrating the phone (by loading it to 100% with phone on, then with phone off etc...) but that doesn't seem to have worked.
I have a print screen from my phone attached to this post.
Gr, Bart.

I had this problem after installing a few custom ROMs, but the battery calibration process (plus wiping battery stats in Recovery) made it functioning normal.

Hi, I didn't know about the resetting in recovery. Did that now, so waiting for my phone to run out of battery again. I'll do the loader thing again to

It's default in Android 2.3
I'm using Cyanogenmod 7 Nightly build (I think they're at #31 now).
Just go to 'settings', 'about phone', 'battery use' and then press on the graph ;-)

But the infos on that screenshot are way more complete!

Aww man!
I had really hoped it would have worked, but it hasn't.
I can apparently not upload a picture from the phone app, but it kinda looks the same... Except I saw 12% now, so that's a bit better

[Q] How to check MIUI 1.8.5 [English] Awake time?

I've Installed the MIUI 1.8.5 English ROM yesterday. Everything is working fine.
However, I can't seem to find the "Awake Time" of the phone.
I checked Setting>System>About Phone>Status
But it shows the "Uptime".
Can anyone suggest where I can find the actual Awake Time of the phone?

[Q] Battery level decreasing suddenly from 28 to 19

As mentioned in the thread title, the level of my Defy battery is always decreasing suddenly from 28 to 19.
I use CM 7.1.0 "official" now. I had the same problem with tanguy releases.
Does anyone know about this problem, or has encountered a similar one?
Me too. Now it seems I have same problem on CMIUI, and it was on Pikachu Edition. Probably the same driver from CM7.1? btw i calibrated the battery every time.
Did you calibrate battery after you flashed it with a new ROM? If not, then do it. DL "Battery calibration" (requires root, but if you are on CM7, then you must be rooted) app from the market, fully charge the battery and leave it charging for at least an hour after that, the open "Battery Calibration", hit the Calibrate battery button and unplug the charger.
sorry but I wrote that I calibrated the battery. I did it after flashing, using battery calibration after fully charging the battery.

[Q] Weird artifacts instead of letters?

Hello,
I know I am not a most active member of XDA comunity, but I am lurking here for a while now.
I tried to search across the forum to find help for my problem but couldn't find it.
Here is what happens. At some parts of a menu(app order or blinkfeed themes) letters are not shown the way should be,but I'm only getting some weird artifacts instead.
When I accces setting menu through those artifacts,my setting menu is shown same way,but if I acces it normally, through an app screen(home>settings) letters are shown normally.
Since English is not my native language, and I have trouble to explain and describe what my problem really is,I attached 3 screenshots therefore.
This is an ebay phone,so I don't have a guarantee list what makes xda my first choice in trying to solve a problem.
Thank you in advance

Can you add some screenshots of the software info panel. Settings - about - software ?

Back to the civilisation...
I tried to turn phone on and off several times but no success at all.I searched all over the internet to find people with similar problem, and have actually find quite a few,but their problem was broken screen, where artifacts were always on the screen, and not only on 2 menus with submenus.Since I haven't been at home,I did most of my search on the phone, and of course,at the evening, battery was almost drained so I put the phone on the charger over the night.Unfortunatelly(or maybe I should say luckily),somehow the connection between phone and the charger was loose, and was interrupted,so till morning, phone was really dead. After connecting it to a charger,it needed couple of minutes only to get a charging light, but after turning the phone on,the artifacts were gone!Everything was as it used to be,
Conclusion:
Where the problem was?I really can't say.
Like I said before,I tried to get rid of those artifacts by switching the phone of and on several times, but it didn't help.
I haven't done a factory reset primarily because I was to lazy to even think about adjusting the phone again, not to mention doing it.
And at some moment, when O was already at peace with those two menus shown with artifacts instead of letters, charger situation happened,Seems that battery draining and recharging it again had some weird connection with artifacts on the screen.
Thanks everybody for,at least, reading my post
Cheers

[Q] [PROBLEM] my battery percentage doesn't show more than 70

hello everybody, thanks for coming out tonight!
the problem:
no matter how much i leave my wildfire charging, it DOES NOT REACH 100% and the percentage that it reads at most is 70%
this problem occurred after i used Battery Callibration app to calibrate my battery (i tried to calibrate cause i thought that it reads wrong percentage)
is there ANYONE helping me out please?
p.s. i have root access and i have tried hard reseting (bootloader clear storage) and format \cache \boot \system \data in recovery and all......... nothing helped! i also tried several roms including cm7.2 and RUUs. non of them helped.
That is a hardware issue, most of us including me face this issue.I'm sorry, there's no real solution for it.

thanks for the answer dude
how come this is a hardware issue? we went through a software-related procedure and now it is about hardware!? i mean we didn't change the input voltage... did we??? it's really odd to me.
did it happen for ur phone after using Battery Calibration app?
what if i change the battery, does it make it right like before?
another thing to consider is what Battery Monitor Widget Pro shows. it says that my battery at most is filled with 900 mAh out of its 1300 mAh nominal capacity!!
what exactly does this app do??

I dont think that battery calibration app caused this..There mst be some flaw with our motherboard or may be it caused due to voltage fluctuations.I saw people changing batteries which didnt help.I dont know but no matter what you do,the problem is just there.

In that case I would make a backup and flash a complete stock rom (including stock kernel and a full wipe). It is the kernel that does the power management.

and in clockworkmod recovery i also tried removing battery stats, wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache partition, formated boot & system & data & cache. none of them helped!

if it had something to do with the rom or even the kernel, flashing a ruu should have fixed it.
As others say, I also expect it to be hardware related, perhaps the app somehow changed certain voltage parameters and overburned/underburned/eated your battery cappacity. But I just stumbled upon this, and thought you might as well give it a try.
Good luck!

HELP! Massive battery drain on OnePlus 3!

Guys, my OnePlus 3 (running OxygenOS 3.2.7 no root) battery is HORRIBLE! I can only get a maximum of 3 hours SOT from 100% to ~5%!
I've tried every method i found. I don't keep location ON, set my wi-fi off during night, i only charge it until full (NOT overnight!). Wiped my cache yesterday and still NO RESULT!
You can see in the screenshots below that #1 app that eats battery is "Android System" that has CPU total 2h 13m. (today)
Please help me on what to do!!!

Same problem here
Android system is supposed to do that. It's quite normal it really depends on usage. What are you doing in the meantime? What is your usage pattern?

Whoa! I downloaded wakelock detector lite now and i see that i can make it work even without root. This wasn't possible an year ago when i tried :victory:
I'm gonna come back with the results! Thank you!!!
I had the same problem with my OP³ running stock OOS 3.2.7 locked bootloader and unrooted. The battery used to drain by 15-20% overnight and also got similar results while using the phone during the day.
Yesterday night i installed google now launcher. The drain came down to just 2% overnight. For the first time i could see "phone idle" in the battery stats instead of android system.
Will use the phone during the day and report back today.
I figured from wakelock detector that the oneplus launcher was keeping the system awake by creating a wakelock for its weather service in shelf even when the option was turned off. Hope this helps you too.

Yeah, i also have Oneplus launcher keeping CPU awake and last night i installed nova launcher. Now the oneplus launcher is not keeping the system awake anymore but in phone's battery stats there is still "Android System" consuming 7% (the most) with "CPU total - 1h 20m" and this process never stops!
I will keep it 1-2 more days to see if something happens and if not, i'm gonna wipe it.
