after I did reset , I cant seem to log back int the home wifi , not sure whats wrong , it seems to work fine otherwise , am I missing something a setting or what its just a simple wep key , same on wifes fone , hers works fine?
had this happen to me on multiple times (HTC Trophy). What i did was to reboot the router, and then a could connect again.
yep that what i did!
did you set any kind of security to your router? like a network key or mac address filtering?
hmmm... if you did a reset on both router and phone all config should be at its default...hmmmm....
try opening the routers gui and have the wep settings placed on "OPEN" instead of "shared"

Sounds like a DHCP problem.
Have a look at your IP and the DNS (and maybe even the gateway) of your PDA and see if it's set correct.
Now do the same with a working system with a internet connection.
In windows, Klik on start and select "Run"
Now type: cmd and klik on OK,
Now type: ipconfig /all
You should see the used IP, Subnet mask, default gateway and DNS servers.
All should be the same on your PDA EXCEPT the last part of your IP!

I am having a similar problem.
When I got the set, I set up WEP encryption on it. It didnt work. The connection was live but no browsing.
I then found out I had an incorrect WEP key on the set. I changed it and then it started working.
Now, with the correct wep key and all, its not working for me either.
What can be wrong?
fluke maybe?
well guys it could be a fluke
but this is what i have done and this is what worked for me
1. I completely reset the blue angel (reset switch and off button together)
2. THat reestablished the wifi connection
3. I went to the home page of my router set up and after perusing it a while i went to wireless security and turned it off
4. restarted wifi connection on the bluey and wham bam..straight online
5. I could not remember my wep key so i opted for turning off wireless security although i still have it passowrd protected
Dunno if it will work for others but it has for me and im run ning a buffalo router witht he blue angel
HOme system is broadband

Well I always managed to connect to my access point to get internet to my BA with WEP enc. enabled. But my problem is I can't get the IE works when I try to connect to my other PC that provides WI-FI as well but this time via Activesync :S why :?
ramram,
If you haven't done it yet, download vxUtil & vxIPconfig; they're very useful for diagnosing connectivity issues.
I noticed when im out of range of my home wifi, or turn it of then on, the TP2 forgets my wep encryprtion password and i must input it each time.
Anyone notice this?
anyway to make sure it always connects to the wifi i specify and keeps my encryption code so i dont have to keep inputing it?
EDIT - Problem appears to be connecting temporarily vs creating an access point account under settings:
My wifi issue has been solved.
"It seems that i was just doing a wifi search and connecting to my router.
Instead, you need to go into settings, then wifi settings, and CREATE an access point by inputing all your SSID data, wep key etc etc...
once it has this it stores it and whenever your in the area it auto connects as it should.
it seems that this was a user error on my part and not the TP2 error.
prior to this i was just searching for my router and connecting... the tp2 never actually saved it and each time i was out of range or turned phone off., i would have to search again.
inputing the info via wifi settings and NOT searching and connecting solved this problem"
i'm not getting this problem mate... i've got a few keys to different wireless networks and it all works seemlesley.
hmmm...
if im the only one, maybe ill delete all the info try again..
yup, got the problem here, it usually happens to me with new phones before i start installing other stuff, don't know which program though to install to really make it stick. Right now most of my settings are not sticking, they revert back to stock after a soft reset or after a few hours unattended. annoying as hell.
yep, me also. It's happened when I haven't used WiFi for a while -I think
what happens when you put in the key in the wireless tab.
hardpress wifi in the comm manager and choose wireless
then you get the "old" menu where all settings for a network have to be filled.
had the problem of forgetting first but when inserted through this way its gone.
vinciente
i don't have that problem on mine.
BTW, i use WAP not WEP. it may make different ???
My old Touch HD did the same thing, the pro2 on the same network though seems fine...

How did you create a new access point and enter SSID, wep etc. as I can only add a new wireless network in the configure wireless networks settings screen?

Start menu, settings, connections tab, wifi icon, "wireless networks" button, then "add new" should be listed on top of all the networks seen.
click "add new" then follow prompts to enter network name, encryption type, etc etc...
been having trouble with wifi connecting. It was working fine... i decided to give a different rom a try (express 3.61 landscape). i couldnt get wifi to work and there were a couple things i didnt really care for, so i switched back to my energy 2/6/12 with anthrax kernel and still not connecting to wifi... well thats only partially true. I have a linksys WRT54GS2 router and i use CISCO NETWORK MAGIC to manage/monitor my network. When i try to disable the network lock to add my phone back in it just keeps searching and never finds it, but my phone will be connected to my network. As soon as I cancel the scan it drops the wifi connection. I even tried using WPS with no luck. Do you think it has something to do with updating my PRL and profile while on the Express rom? this is really annoying me.
UPDATE: I've been playing around in my routers configuration utility and i got this figured out. I jsut couldnt do it with in Network Magic. Ill post my steps incase anyone had this same issue:
1. open web browser on pc enter you address to get into your router(this is usually 192.168.1.1 on linksys routers)
2. leave the user name blank and type admin in the PW section(unless you changed it when you did setup)
3. Go to the "wireless" tab
4. Then goto "wireless MAC filter" subtab
5. click edit mac filter list button
6. get your phones mac address( menu\settings\about phone\hardware information
7. enter phones mac address into an open slot then click save settings at the bottom of the page. then save the changes in the router setup.
It may vary some for different routers but this worked for me... WHAT A PITA!
Hello. I search the forum and the net and I didn't find an answer. I Have an Arc S, and the phone doesn´t seem to find my wi-fi. The strangest is that the phone recognizes other networks, and it was already connected at my network.
Already disabled all the WPA/WEP securitys, changed the name of the wi-fi network, Pulled the baterry out of the phone etc. My Computer is working fine over the wi-fi.
Strangest part is that my wife's phone (arc S) is doing exactly the same as mine. It all started with a electricity fail. It happened before once, but with a router reset was OK, but not this time.
Really messed up.. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Have you tried manually connect to your network?
Your wifes arc s works, probably the promblem is 99% on your phone. Try a repair on pc companion
From my sexy LT15i
Already tried a manual connection, but the network does not appear. My wifes phone is not finding the network as well....
Sorry for misreading
Some troubleshoots:
*Check your firewall on your router. Try to disable
*Change SSID/key -keytypes
*Check if your SSID us hidden, if so make it visible
*Frimware upgrade/reinstall on router
*Try other signal channels like 11, 6
Set auto if possible
Theres a app on store to find the best one
*Try other radio type, like b, g, n
Set auto if possible
*Tried to set up a static ip on you arc?
Settings > wireless and network > wireless settings > push menu button ang press advanced > check the static ip option and configure it
*Try a app to connect like wifi manager and wifi connect etc.
*Check device (arc s) settings/permissions on router
*Are the phone using the latest frimware?
**The last solution. Contact internet provider about giving you a new router (if they gave this one)
***Ultimate solution. Throw that piece if sheit out and get a new one.
From my sexy LT15i
probably your your wifi is ad-hoc mode
android stock roms can not recognize ad-hoc wifi mode . just access point mode .
if it is your problem you have 2 solutions :
change your wifi mode to access point mode
use customs roms like miui or cm
Hello All. I already tried all the above, excluding somethings that was impossible in my router (software update).
After changing every single parameter im my router, the one that worked was changing the ssid channel from auto to manual. The first channel I tryed the phone immidiatly recgonized my Wi-fi, and now I changed Again to auto and its working fine....
Dont have a clue why!!
Thanks for all!!
Is there any other router signals where you live witch your phone finds ?
Thats why, radio jamming together
From my sexy LT15i
Yes, there are some other networks with same brand of routers (same ISP provider), but with different names.
The strangest part was that it worked before, than with no changes other than the power shortage both phones stop finding the network... But now is fine
Thanks!!
my phone can see any wireless network just fine and even can see any network encryption changes but for unkown reason the connect button feels like the cancel button
when i try to connect to any encrypted network it ask me for the password then nothing happens
i tried installing different firmwares and they all do the same thing
now what?!
oh...i tried wifi fix.zip and it missed up the network enable/disable key so i restored my phone back to my 2 days old backup which also suffer from the same problem
i am on CM9 BETA4
when this problem happend i was using the internet on my phone and all the sudden the net access was down so i checked the router log very fast and the last thing i seen on the mikrotik wifi server log was my phone connecting with too many diff mac address (6 of them) with the same ip
i checked the wifi server if my phone's ip or mac was banned and the answer was no
i have one place left and it is the phone itself can a virus unbind the wifi connect key?
turned out that the phone for some unknow reasons doesn't connect to any wifi network with space in ssid name
changed the ssid from space to under score and everything is working again on CM9 B4
