Hi!
I am experiencing a strange problem with my new DHD. At first when I bought it, it connected to my home wireless router in an instance. Even after flashing the stock rom to Revolution. But in the past few days it takes at least 20-30 seconds to connect to the router when I enable the wifi through widget.
If I enter wifi settings, it connects right away.
Any solution for this?
thanks
EDIT: I flashed LeeDroid 1.5.1 today, and I still have this issue. When I turn on Wifi through a widget, it turns on, but it does not connect to my router, well at least not until a good 30 seconds. But if I go into wifi settings, it shows my router as not in range for a moment, and after that it connects to it right away.
I have already tried to forget and re-set my home network settings, restart phone and router, it did not help.
Anybody experienced anything like this?
Thanks
So really nobody?

Hi, I got the HTC desire during the week and all going great so far except issues with connecting to my Wi-fi at home.
On initial setup i had it scan for my wireless signal but had to manually enter it, network is not hidden. 3 laptops, PS3, PSP, DS all have been able to see it and connect in the past. Anyway, connected through WPA and was able to connect to the internet and market fine.
The issue is it keeps dropping the connection, signal bar stays as if connected but all pages timeout. turning the wireless on/off does not resolve, sometimes turning the power on/off will sort it, most times not. I drove to work last night, 25km and it said i was still connected to a network untill i disabled the wireless on the phone in the carpark !!
I have trawled the net and have come across known issues with other HTC devices and wireless networks but most of the fixes i tried have drawn a blank so far, bar hard reset.
Unsure if it is settings in my router or the phone. One thing i did notice is when it was connected and i went to the settings>wireless and networks it was smooth like the usual progs on the phone, but when i cant connect and go to the settings it is serious laggy.
BB is Eircom, netopia router.
Phone is Vodafone.
Any other info needed just ask, could do with a fix for this before i pull my hair out.
edit: downloaded a wifi analyzer app and it says my signal is very weak, even sitting on the router, it is either the router sending the wrong signal or the hardware on the phone i think.
Anyone have to chage their wireless settings on the router to get the desire to connect ? If so, to what ?
Update.
powered off my phone and ran the wifi analyser again, same thing, -98db.(red, no signal)
powered off the phone again, and was hitting -40db sitting on top of the router and ~ -70 2 rooms away(green/yellow) and internet pages were flying, this is what is happening, may stay for 10 mins and go again.
Another update:
I had a good connection so changed the sleep from 1 min to 30, checked the sig strenght every 15 mins, surfed a few pages and all fine. Changed the sleep back to 1 min, let it sleep, came back 5 mins later and wifi dead again. this leads me to taking the router out of the equation and phone based issue.
Wifi issues
Hiya,
I had exactly the same problem with my desire. It is on Orange UK and came withall their crud on it. I spent two days playing around with the router settings and phone settings. I could connect to the router but not use the internet. In the end I followed the links on here to erase the orange crud and install a generic rom. After that the phone connected to wifi internet and telephone internet and switches between them without any problems whatsoever. I did wonder if it was a ploy by the telecom provider to get you to use more of their online data rather than over wifi.

Hey all,
I've been noticing some real difficulty in connecting to a WPA/PSK router after the 2.2 update. It keeps trying to connect then disconnecting for some reason then it just either gives up or goes into an endless loop of connects and disconnects.
Whats going on? I'm using LeeDroid 1.8b currently but i've had the problem across pretty much every ROM on this site.
Any help is appreciated.
Regards
you sure its the phone and not the router or ISP.
you have probably already tried that with a laptop or something but just a thought.
or do you have juice defender or something running which could knock it out.
Gonna try leedroid 1.8b today, bloody quick out after 1.8a.
I can confirm this problem on Pauls R8 as well, to be more specific, it happens when trying to get back on a WPA/PSK router after establishing the first connection and trying to move back from a different network...
Yeh exactly what jagdish describes. Its fine for the initial connection but when i move to 3g and back in range of wifi, it absolutely refuses to connect and I have to forget the connection and re-enter the password to connect. it seems to be the reverse of the 2.1 problem where after leaving wifi the phone refused to accept the 3g connection.
Looking for any ideas...
When I activate WiFi near a known network, it starts to connect, holds at obtaining an ip address, the disconnects and restarts the connection process.
Happens on multiple WiFi access points, home, work, hotel. Rebooted my home router in the hopes that it was coincidence, but it did not help. Wife's Facinate and iPad, and both of our work laptops (Windows7) connect to the home network just fine.
Running CM7 Nightly 258
11/14 Incredikernel, downgraded to the unofficial 11/04 and the official 10/8. Even tried the stock CM7 kernel.
Was running the 08.08 radio, switched to the 07.07, but still have the issue.
WiFi works after a wipe and reinstall untill I reboot, then this starts.
My droid pro did that on cm7 for a while. It would connect if I went to the WiFi settings screen though. Have you tried going to WiFi settings while its in this connecting loop?

Unfortunately yes. I have turned on wifi from the notification widget and from inside settings and receive the same result, no connection and a big battery drain.
Fixed it over the weekend. In case others have problems with AT&T U-Verse 2Wire routers, the change I made that resolved it was to switch from the router default wireless security of WPA to WPA/WPA2...
Hi,
I'm having issues connecting to my WiFi network.
When I first got the phone, I connected, and it was saved.
A few days later, when I tried connecting, it went Connecting..., and then just went back to saying "Saved, secure" .
It doesn't connect to it.
Other devices in my house connect just fine.
To clarify, I am right next to my router.
Any help?
Thanks.
Bump
When in WiFi settings, go into the Advanced settings and maybe uncheck the 'Internet Unavailable' option and see if that fixes your issue. I very much doubt it will, however I believe it maybe worth a shot.
I'm 90% certain that the issue will be with your WiFi router, maybe have a look on forums around your router to see if anyone else has the same issue with their phone?
Hey folks,
I hope somebody can help me. I have a very strange issue with my Sony Xperia XZ2 compact and my Wifi. It won't connect under any circumstances. It says "Establishing connection" but nothing happens. It worked in the first place but since two weeks, it stopped working.
What I tried yet: -
resetted the phone to default and updated to newest android
- resetted the router to default
- changed the wifi channel and Name/Password
The strange thing is: The phone connects to every other wifi, except my home wifi. And every other phone does connect to my home wifi. It seems to be a issue between my home router and my phone. But I have no clue what else I should do.
This really sucks. I really need Wifi at home.
Thank you for your help!
well,i cant turn on the wifi option now
and it will reboot randomly as i try to turn on wifi
even i could turn on wifi still there is no signal and unable to connect to everything
BUT MY LTE WORKS VERY WELL
4G SIGNAL IS STRONG AS FXXK
Bump, seeing a similar issue with my mother's phone. Wifi works at phone for her, but not at work.
