my Epic is stuck. I can get it into recovery and download mode, but i cannot get it to go back to regular due to none of the 4 buttons on the screen working so i cant press the home button to click "reboot system now". i also tried using odin and the pc will not recognize it. i used another epic and it showed a com port so it is not driver related. any idea on how to get this back to normal so i can get it replaced? or use it until a replacement comes
What?
I don't understand what you are trying to do with the home button. You should be using the real buttons on the sides if you can't boot android properly.
Isnt the enter button the home key?
No, the camera button is the enter key
ok... just tried the camera button... does nothing... any idea?
Either you're not doing it right or you're screwed. You're saying that your camera button doesn't function as an "enter key" for anything in recovery?
correct... it does not click anything tried to select each option and it does not respond to the camera key
Then you're stuck. If you can't odin and you can't select anything in the recovery, then you can't do much of anything.
try sliding up the keyboard and trying the enter key or the hard keys on there

During the install, I just left it as "Clockworkmod Recovery"

So that's what I was missing... for some reason I though CWM started when you held power + vol down. I see it when I choose recovery. Thanks!
No Problem, glad I could help!
Ok another question... I'm wiping through CWM... how long does it take and how do I know it's working? It's just sitting on the logo.
you need to use the optical joystick or trackpad or whatever you want to call it down at the bottom of your phone. volume up/down can be used for navigation but enter is center press on that bottom button
EDIT: sorry, I wasn't very clear. the phone isn't freezing, the power button doesn't do anything in CMW on the dinc. If you click it again it will bring back the menu and you need to use the OJ to navigate and select to wipe system, data, data/data, cache, and dalvik cache. the first 3 of which can be done by selecting "factory reset" within CWM
I just want to add, the Power button does nothing but show the logo when you're on the main screen. The Power button serves as the back button once you've selected options using the optical button.

True! I forgot about that, I always use the regular back button on the soft keys because i'm used to that but it's still good to know.
Okay, so my problem is simple, I can't boot into recovery at all. Every time I try to boot up recovery, my phone shows the little Android dude and just gives me the option to "Start". Nothing else, even when I press the volume key down or up, does nothing! My phone is also looping on the CyanogenMod screen so I can't even go into the phone itself.
Also, when I try to use unroot my phone, it says "ADB can not be found", I install the USB driver manually, and it still says the same exact thing. I'm pretty much all out of options, hopefully someone here can help. I'll be very grateful.

Error
More info please.
What was the last ROM/kernel you flashed.?
What recovery are you using?
Did this just started after installing a ROM, kernel or mod..?
More details please...

What buttons are you pressing to get into your bootloader? I assume you are holding the volume "down" button and pressing the power key. This gets you into Odin Mode and only allows you to boot the phone normally by pressing the power key for "start." You need to hold down the volume "up" AND "down" keys at the same time to enter the correct bootloader with the recovery mode option. Once you are booted into recovery just restore your phone to a nandroid backup you have created that you know works.
I flashed Carbon ROM and RR gapps on it, and enabled ART, and ouch....
My home button is broken due to water damage. I think its shorted, and wont work however hard you press.
It goes past the boot animation, but then I see a plethora of FC dialogs, and a black screen underneath, and they keep coming no matter how many times and how fast you press OK. I had adb working in dalvik, but now it doesnt work. When i press the power button, the power menu pops up behind the FC dialogs wish i could click that.
Also tried booting in safe mode (power+vol up+ vol down), but the same thing happens and no adb access.
Is there a way you can just go to the recovery? I have disassembled my phone, except the screen which encases the home button. Is there any way to access recovery without the home button? Can I do some hardware remap? or is it possible to somehow get adb running?
If adb isnt working, you will have to spend some buck on your device. Sorry for you bro.

Hi, I've tried to flash a stock ROM using LG Flash Tool, I've selected BOARD DL mode because I got system reset 2 with UPGRADE DL mode.
When I turn my phone on It goes directly to the Mini OS 3.1 screen and there is a popup messages that says: "Auto touch test, don't touch the screen!". I've read on some forum that you can skip this screen by pressing power button and Normal Boot(+power). But I'm not able to close popup messages, I click ok button that it doens't response at all.
Any suggestion about how to fix it?
Regards.
PS: This is the screen I see

I have the same problem someone can help?
Hello,
My Mi A2 Lite stopped receiving inputs from the screen, i.e no screen response.
Numerous re-boots by pressing power button, just brings up the screen to enter pin, where I cannot enter anything since screen is not responding. There is no sign of any defects with the screen, so i think its a software problem. i have also tried to wipe data/factory reset the phone a few times using power button+ volume up and getting up the "robot" and "no command" screen, then power button + volume up again gets me to the recovery screen. The recovery screen also has the selection to "Apply update from adb" or also "Apply update from SD card", but not sure if this will work.
I have then tried to install TWRP, for me being able to install a new ROM, but cannot do it since "Minimal ADB and fastboot" commands bring up FAILED (remote:unlock device to use this command)
I assume I must enter phone settings and press 7 times on correct menu, then enable developer mode. This I cannot do, since I cannot enter the phone.
What should I do here in order to go forward in trying to get the phone working again?
