I had a rom, that restarted the phone on its own, and the launcher kept getting erased, so i installed another rom and it wouldnt work.I had to Odin, and then have tried to install about 6 diffrent roms, with none working. Either it will get stuck in a boot loop, or just the buttons would light up with no screen. Please Help me
Give us more information. What roms are you trying to install. Rfs or ext4. What cwm are you using?

You listed his issues he's probably flashing in wrong Cwm or with wrong build....
Odin the ECO5
THEN ROOT WITH THE ONE CLICK ROOT 3.0.2.5
THEN FLASH ACS FROZEN 1.1.1 (Best ROM Ever )
.... Thats it
thats exacly what i did. Frozen was the 1st rom..then i later went to the gingerbread leak (anoymous) and it was working but i kept losing data connection so i went back to urban fury...then it ramdomly would reboot with no launcher and i tried to reinstall, and ever since then all i can do is odin. i wonder if my root some how is messed up or something
I'm currently running acs's sfr 1.1.1. I Flashed it twice because I had a bad flash. But otherwise its running great. There's great vid's that show you step by step. It should be in sfr 1.1.1 first post in the dev section.

What ROM?
And if its SRF did you download the version without the kernel included? Or the one with the kernel in it?
Could be bad downloads?
Try running CWM 3.0.0.6? I think is the previous version
I was having a ton of problems with 3.0.2.5 constant boot animation loop
couldn't get past any of the roms boot animations
I odin'd back to EC05, completely rerooted with the previous clockwork and it flashed good after the second time of course
had the double boot logo at first lol
if that doesnt work you could go into the bonsai recovery, I havent had any problems with that recovery at all
I have been trying to hook a buddy of mine up with a new rom for his Evo, basically make it exactly like mine with the newest Fresh Rom. I rooted his phone with Revolutionary and it all went just fine, the phone is now rooted with Superuser successfully installed. I put the Fresh zip on his SD card, wiped everything as you are supposed to, and then flashed the zip. It flashes fine and boots up, loads to the lockscreen and setup, but then reboots and does the whole process again, basically a bootloop. I have tried various roms and kernels, wiped over and over again, redownloaded the file, etc., but nothing seems to work. Am I missing something?! I never had this issue installing this rom on my phone. Any help would be appreciated!
try using a different recovery
Something other than RA? What do you suggest? CWM is crap isn't it?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Give newer versions on CWM its work just fine for me. I never had a problem.
Sloth
I am skeptical that a different recovery will fix the problem, but I will give it a try and report back. Is there anything else anyone can come up with?
I had a really weird issue where I couldn't flash any of the Gingerbread roms a while back, and had flashed goodness knows how many since I bought my evo on launch day and rooted it day one when it was available.
Trying different recovery versions might help, but if it doesn't, I'd suggest to unroot it and start all over. Find a post in the dev section on unrooting, go back to the stock sprint rom, and start over.
I did that, and was then able to flash all gingerbread roms and get them to not bootloop.
I'm not the only one that was having the problem, but NO devs could/would help figure it out. Not even flipz. Give it a shot.
Thanks for the info, I will try to Recovery thing first and then do a full wipe out and start over from a stock rom. The weird thing about it is that this is the first time this phone has been rooted and the first attempt at flashing roms.
Just curious, how many times does it reboot?? Over and over and over, or are you pulling the battery after the first or send time?
Over and over

Try recovery and fast boot from there.
Sloth
I changed recoveries to clock work, and it did not make a difference. I continued to get the same boot loop as before with RA. I just wiped out the entire system, and went into the boot loader to unroot back to stock. I will report back my results once I am done

Either change you clockworkmod or try something else. Dam man that sucks.

Changing up the recovery did nothing to fix my problem. I unrooted his phone, regained s-on, flashed a stock rom and am starting over. I will report back my results.
Well damnit anyway, starting all over from scratch did nothing as well. Still get the same damn bootloop. WTF!?!? Anyone else have any other ideas?
I've read every post and I can't think of anything that would help. You think it's a software issue, like inside the phone itself might be bad?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Is this something that could be discovered on a logcat? I have never done one or know how they work, but would anyone be willing to diagnose the problem if I am able to get a logcat?
Damn that sucks. What your status. Did you fix the bootloop?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Still no fix discovered, any help on this would be greatly appreciated

What's interesting, is that this is the exact same boot loop problem I was having on my Evo when trying to flash any sense 3.0 rom.

Have you tried using / flashing any of the zips that are prepackaged " wipes " ?
Have you tried using TWRP recovery ?
I never had any problems while using RA but had numerous failed flashes with Clockwork.
TWRP has been stellar so far ... no failed flashes yet.
Ok well I rooted and I flashed some roms here and there everything was fine until last night... I was going to flash calklin's 2.5.1 rom... I was in the recovery that uses the "pre wipe for theme" & another option was "pre wipe for rom" it was something like that... So I selected pre wipe for rom then I flashed calklin's 2.5.1... Everything went well until I rebooted.... It stayed at the Samsung galaxy s II screen so I left it for 10min nd nothing happen... So I tryed to nand myself back to life and I couldnt even get to my recovery... So I odin el13 stock rooted then flashed cwm n still the same results... So I odin eg30 stock and the same results, stuck at the samsung galaxy s II screen.... Can some one please help me this is bugging me alot I HATE TOUCH WIZ!!! Im willing to try out any method someone could suggest
Thanks I appreciate the help xda community!!!

So you're stuck at the Samsung Galaxy SII loading screen? Is that right?
If that's so, use this to get back to stock and proceed from there (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394332)
Yes thats correct, thanks, but I can revert to ANY STOCK ROM!!eg31, eg30, ect... But wen I try to flash another rom weather its calukin.s rom, starburst rom or midnight rom I get stuck at the galaxy s II screen... So I can flash a stock rom!!
I just cant flash A CUSTOM ROM!! Im rooted and everthing on stock I keep trying n nothing happens!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Are you sure that you're rooted? Perhaps you should try again. What method did you use to root the device originally?
Thanks again for your reply... I used the auto root method posted by sfhub... I used his method to root as soon as I got my phone! I hate stock.... Ok so if this helps im on eg30 modem, kernal, rom all is stock!! With root

Glad you got it working.
Ive tried 3 times to switch to mtd heres my steps I must be doing something wrong please point it out for me.
Step 1: odin to deodexed/rooted ec05
Step 2: eco5 modem to ei22 converted
step 3: upgrade to newest cwm5
step 4: Wipe data/cache/delvik 3x
step 5: Install MTD Clean rom/ Also tried CM7
Outcome: first seems fine restarts back to cwm5 Im assuming that means its converted to mtd? (should i reflash rom after restart to cwm5?) Then I reboot system and the screen just stays black nothing happens waited forever forceing me to odin again and repeat the steps with no luck over and over again. I have also tried installing clean rom + a different MTD Kernal. Still just a black screen buttons lit up and no sign of life I waited nearly half an hour leaving the phone like this and nothing happened.
Odin is a pain it takes 5 failured to reodin I figured id ask the pros since i want MTD and need to figure this out. Please tell me im missing something obvious and make it a simple solution lol Thanks for your help.
When you flash an MTD ROM, the phone will restart during the flash and should reboot and continue to install. Once that is done it should say install successful in CWM. Is it doing that?
I install in cwm5 it shuts off reboots back to cwm5 and thats it at that point i find myself lost and reboot to system and get black screen. Do my steps look right nothing special i have read all comments and see no issues so i feel pretty slow because i never have these problems and couldnt find a similar one.
If it helps me explain better when i installed CM7 I got as far as the CM7 loading screen and then it froze. So I tried to wipe then install clean MTD to see if it would load either and got black screen right after CM7 logo......Ill try again in a minute I just want someones help first before I try again. Then i will post new info about my issue if it continues and we can figure out what im missing.
When you odin you says it fails? You need a better cable also you converted to mtd but it won't boot so when you go back to stock you need to repartition so have that checked. Also don't go back to stock rooted go back to official stock ec05 not anything but that please. Then once done flash in a custom recovery and flash the ei22 modem conversion and finally wipe data cache and dalvik *once* and flash the mtd rom. Then it will reboot almost half way through and then it should say install complete and it will reboot your system.

Ok im going again to try after reading your post ill edit this reply with my outcome after my attemp Im using my 4g for internet so it will take a few minutes to get back here to respond.
Ok ive tried it all nothing helps reflashed on MTD even still boots back to cw5.
I did however download from the xda app I seen some threads on this. Is it possible thats the reason? I usually download roms from it and they work fine but my 16gb is running low. Im going to try again from a laptop download then transfew to microsd on sd adapter and see. I tried it all how do i check md5?
Also i was trying to flash cm710 so im not sure if that has a issue but ill try not downloading from XDA app because im really tired of starting from scratch with this phone. sm7 i see boot logo and resets to cwm5 Clean MTD i see only black screen and it resets to cwm5.
I had to do a factory data reset right before flashing CM7 otherwise I also got stuck at the circle load thingie.

Well I never solved the issues with mtd cm7 and clean rom..... But I did manage to get to MTD very easily using marcusant v3 rom then added red theme and all is well. So in short who knows what was up after trying everything but if anyone else has that issue.....give up lol I needed a lot of asprin getting through tht mess. marcusant v3 MTD is amazing with red theme its boss.
edit: Dont give up lol use dolphin browser and redownload worked like a charm I dont want to discourage anyone as I like to try every rom atleast once. Plus clean GB has stable wifi hack with 4g on.

It was probably some bad downloads. If you want to try CM7 I only was able to get it to flash with a Factory Data reset prior to flashing it. You should grab one of the nightlies from 10 and up with the working 4G toggle.
Well i was dedicated to resolving this after realizing sleeperrom mtd and Marcusant MTD had broken wifi when 4g was enabled. So yeah i resolved the issue by downloading with dolphin browser mini worked like a charm for some reason that browser is the only reliable one for me to download roms. Switched to clean gb 4g wifi hotspot is perfect. Also if anyone knows if hotspot with 4g is broken in cm7 mtd what tether app with 4g tether will work with an epic?

Working copy of wireless tether for cm7 > http://db.tt/Q6n9nOge
Open and before you start the tether change the first two settings... 1. Change to epic 4g... 2. Change to softap... I use this on EVERY ROM I run... turn on 4g after the app starts up...

Wow your a life savor im definately trying that out today. For cm7 do you have to start fresh though or can you clear then flash over clean gb mtd? Your getting a thanks I have been up and down the market and nothing worked and no trials to see if certain programs work that cost 12 bucks a pop so this info is very valuable to me thanks.

wait to get into clockwork mod its up and down arrows and power button then when it says samsung let go power button but keep holding up and down arrows until clockwork turns on.
once in clockwork factory reset wipe cache and reflash a different rom. if needed dload and new rom and load into clock work it usng mount usb option under advanced to put the rom on your phone then flash it. if you cant get into clockwork go to this guide to use odin to flash back a stock rom and start over.
