hi everyone
im having problem with installing clockworkmod 2.5.my phone is a rooted desire z with s-off and pvt ship.rom manager gives me a error for installing and when i wan use adb (everything hooked correct)and i use fastboot flash recovery recovery.img it says remote denied.any suggestions?
thx
Just ran into an error trying to flash the 2.5.1.3 on my replacement G2 actually.
Funny enough, I didn't get the error anymore and was able to flash when I turned on WiFi instead of being on the cell network. Some kinda issue downloading CWR or something. Give WiFi a try when you go to flash via ROM manager? Not sure why the cell network causes an issue for some people (it didn't on my first G2).
Try flashing it through ROM Manager.

Hi peeps
I got my DHD yesterday in Shanghai. It' nice but im trying to flash LeeDRoid onto the phone. The DHD has come from Germany originally and it seems the phone shop has flashed a Chinese custom rom on it already.
I checked and the phone is SHIP S-OFF and rooted. Weird thing is my superuser app wont flag any root permission requests from rom manager or apps like titanium backup. The only thing it has allowed so far is Visionary - and allows that program to root and unroot. Nothing else works...su in terminal - nada, no joy - permission denied.
So as it stands I cant get clockwork recovery on through the phone. So i try to push it through fastboot and i get this:
writing 'recovery'...FAILED <remote: not allowed>
I really have no idea of how to get CWM on the phone - can anyone give me pointers?
handle it as S-ON
permroot with visionary
S-off
install ROM manager from the market
install cw recovery
not sure how this helps as the phone is already S-OFF?
problems is i permroot - i have no access to SU in the terminal - superuser doesnt flag my request
without SU how to i got through the process of taking the phone to S-OFF?
The same thing happened to me, but solved now, what i did were:
flash a stock rom through RUU,
run the root tool from Paul again, but the recovery couldn't be flashed by the ROMManager still, as it's hboot issue, you have to flash recovery through ADB,
the following thread could be helpful:
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-333390-1-1.html
thanks chinesedavid, your suggestions were really helpful
ive now managed to flash LeeDroid on no probs
one thing i didnt have to do was push recovery via adb...i actually managed to flash CWM from rom manager
one issue i have is titanium backup though - whenever i try to remove a system app, my system will reboot but not start up - i end up with a screen of a little droid with a triangular sign with an exclaimation mark in the middle. then it gets stuck and i have to do a batt pull
is this a bug with titanium backup on the DHD or is it my phone that's not allowing the removal
if working properly the phone should boot twice and remove the system app...
Ok I have tried to root my device and flash a custom ROM but I ran in some serious truble. I rooted with unrEVOked method flashing a custom clocwork recovery, it didn't work...since I have PVT4 40000 earsize device I used the updated clokwork, tried to flash a defrost 6.1a ROM, got error when installing boot, used unrEVOked with amon_ra recovery, again tried the ROM, it didn't want to load, tried leedroid 2.3b ROM, got it to boot, but SIM, USB, BT, FM was not working, I flashed official RUU via fastboot, it booted fine, but still nos SIM, USB, BT, FM...entered HBOOT, did a Clead data, SIM started working but nothing else...
Long story short I ended up with unrooted ROM, semi bricked. I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9712568&postcount=309 solution, I got signature veryfication error...
I allso tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9056719&postcount=15 solution, but I can't enter any commands in Terminal Emulator, just premission denied, typing su first allso poped premission denied...
I guess the device has to be rooted to do su, so I wonder if I could root my device with this method http://android.modaco.com/content/h...com/309939/usb-brick-rickrolled-b0rked-fixed/ (the 1. step)? I wonder if I downgrade to stock 2.1 first (since I have 0.93 HBOOT) could it work?
Or is there maybe an another solution? Maybe someone knows why can't I get any result from the first two methodes mentioned above?
I'm really freaking right now, smoked about 12234746 cigarettes this day being so nervous
Well if I don't get a solution any time soon, I'm taking my device to repairs, acting stupid
Not sure if it's relevant but do you have a cmda device or a gsm?
I have a GSM device 100%, however windows recognizes some qualcomm cdma device when I plug USB. Allso USB seems to work in fastboot, thats how i was able to fix my sd card (was not detected in recovery) by fastboot command...yes sd was broken to luckly i get it to work
Ok nevermind I manged to fix my issue with the help from some very nice people here on xda-developers

Hello,
I've a Desire were Cyanogen 7 is installed - as I need to return the phone I need to restore the Stock-ROM.
Have downloaded RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe but when I try to install the phone stuck during the 1st reboot (HTC logo on black background appears) and then the RUU aborts (waiting for bootloader.....then error 171).
What have I missed?
Thanks for your help!
Is that the RUU that your phone came with?
No, downloaded from a link here at the forum - got the wrong one?
The thing u have to do is first install htc sync, then connect ur phobe to the pc, when ur phone reboot by installation ur internet should be turned off. Its the driver that creates problem. Works for me perfectly..

I had problems installing from RUUs, I used a zip file. Look in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10417988#post10417988
I got the same problem.
Need to return to stock but for me it won't even recognize the Phone when i plug it in. Which is strange because i can access the files through windows and all, but it says it's not connected in the RUU. :S
I think my "problem" ist ClockWork - it seems that the phone don't get into the bootloader (??) required to flash.
If I disconnect the usb while the HTC logo is shown it switchs to the loader and I can see a line RRU (normaly there are the four lines)
The first part seem to work (check phone, initiate reboot, ....)
SOLVED:
Just killed the RUU while the device showed the HTC logo and restarted the RUU.
Then the update recogniced the bootloader and installed the stock ROM.
what do u mean by killing the RUU?
*g* Windows TaskManager & killed Process
or you colud just run the ruu from fastboot lol its much easier and less likely to brick ur phone than force closing the ruu in the process of searching for the fone
oh....hmmm....
Good point - tried a lot but never tried that....damn
1st you have to flash the ...bootlloader for stock romss ...the same way u did before installing .cm7
u can find it here
alpharev.nl
flash alpharev for stock rom..... and then do a full wipe and install the rom through recovery
u cannot install stock froyo over alpharev cm7
boot.
Yes you can as the RUU replaces the AlphaRev HBOOT with the stock one. I've done it with no issues
Hi folks!
I got the Wildfire S from my Mum and flashed it to 3 different Custom-ROMs.
the problem is, her phone has an error. Everytime when waking up from standby, it takes like 5 seconds before the display does take input!
Means : When someone calls and the display went on, u have to try many times (like 5 secs or more) to receive the call. same when trying to unlock.
With stock rom it was even worse! there it took like 10 seconds or more.
now we want to flash back original rom without root and take it back to our dealer and let it change with a working phone. problem now is, the USB-Ports seems to be broken or so??
when connecting with her laptop or even with my PC the pc's recognises the phone as "unknown device" and when trying to install usb-drivers for asb or fastboot, it says "the device is already up to date".
so i CANT use fastboot, adb or even the RUU-flasher-exe files
no i am searching for a way to flash the phone with a stock rom out of the recovery menu.
is there a way or a way to fix the usb-driver problem ???
someone plz help!
i installed htc sync and tried to flash the ruu manually by fastboot.
it only flashes system.img and the boot.img. when trying to flash the other stuff like hboot and recovery or radio it says "wrong verficiation id. Remote not allowed"
now the phone wont boot further than bootloader or recovery
bootloader is unlocked!
plz someone help!!
Is there a way to flash a stock rom out of the recovery?
can SOME PLEASE make me a backup of his system and upload it anywhere so i can fix mum's phone?
plz ppl help!
ok got it back working. with custom rom only, but its ok for now.
I have been trying to root my incredible 2 ver 2.3.4 and managed to get it unlocked so I could change carriers. However, in the process of trying to also root the phone using adb I seem to have flashed improperly somehow and corrupted the recovery image instead of replacing it. Maybe I got hold of a corrupt TWC_recovery image and that is the problem. I was trying to flash TWC and it claimed to work but upon trying to reboot into recovery it simply sits at the white HTC screen and stalls.
When I use the cable and ADB to tryi and flash clockwork instead of TWC it apparently is not communicating with the phone. I used adb devices and the list is empty.
Incidentally the phone still boots up good and works fine as a phone but recovery mode using the phone menu is also history. Is there anyway to fix this. It seems like a catch 22 and I am stumped. At any rate, not being able to flash eithere using the phone itself or adb and the laptop has me stymied. Anyone have any ideas. I want to root also and it seems I have to get back to 2.3.3 in order to do that.
My experience is limited. I have successfully rooted my Hero (previous phone) and my Toshiba Thrive in the past though. All went well with them.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated with proper thanks.

download a recovery then rename it to recovery.img then boot your phone to fastboot and connect it to pc put the recovery into your fastboot folder then run this command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
this should fix your recovery NOTE ADB commands doesn't work until your phone boots up completely hence recovery is always flashed using fastboot commands
Or better yet, install rom manager and click install recovery

When I try to install clockworkMod Recovery via Rom Mgr it downloads ok and then as it tries to install it dies with the error 'An error occurred while flashing your recovery.'
As I said earlier, when I try using the pc and cable it stalls on 'waiting' because it can't communicate with the phone.
The phone no longer goes into USB Boot like it did earlier..... it did though prior to the corruption.
Any other ideas? Thanks for the help.

Ver 2.3.4
I tried each of the methods in the earlier posts in the thread and neither worked for me. In the process, I have screwed something and now my phone will not boot into normal phone mode either.
Somehow I have corrupted something that is preventing my flashing a new recovery. Since it is not rooted, I am not sure what I can adb flash and what I can't. I have tried flashing both Clockwork recovery and TWP and although adb reports success the phone will not go into recovery. It simply displays stuck on the white screen with the HTC logo. I also tried flashing by zipping up a rom and clockwork recovery and renaming the zip PG32IMG.zip, loading it onto the sdcard, and loading it at bootup of hboot. It shows loading, then I select reboot bootloader, then try loading recovery and the same thing. Stuck on the HTC white screen. Now, the phone will not boot into normal phone mode either but just sticks on the white screen. I am wondering..... do I need to do a wipe or anything else prior to flashing the recovery? Maybe partition is bad. I don't know the procedure for any of that. I appreciate any help I can get.

I have tried that but it won't work because my phone is has hboot-0.98.0000 and when I follow the exact described procedure to change back to 97 it fails.
Is there some guru that fixes these for a living I can send the phone to? Anyone know? :crying:
What carrier are you planning to switch to? On the GSM side, you will most likely get no faster than 2G or 2.5G / Edge speed on data, depending on the radio band used by your provider. It is reliable & dependable for voice and/or WiFi calling with excellent battery life.
SInce you've tried to fixed it a number of ways with limited luck, you should consider flashing one of the factory/VZW's RUU file to restore it back to stock condition, unrooted - then, start the process over. The tacoroot method is what I've used last year to fixed one that appeared to be 100% brick.
PM me if you have trouble locating and want to use the RUU files as I believed that are no longer on the server - see what I can come up with from offline storage.

I have droid Incredible 2 by verizone. I got it unlocked and S-OFF to use custom rom.
During the process, SD card is not detecting any more. Also, USB debugging is not functioning. Therefore, I cannot use any custom ROM now.
I have flashed Chinese 3.07.1401.3 as S710D. Because any of original Vrizone rom are not loading. The current situation is that all functions
are working except which are related to SD CARD, like photo/video, music, software download etc.
USB HOST CONTROLLER shown that S3C usb driver is missing. Please help.

You are most likely missing the correct HTC drivers or have corrupted ones installed. Uninstall & clean it off your PC first, reboot & start over (or, use/borrow another computer to do this - look into the Control Panel ...)
Unless you are planning or using the DI2 on a Chinese carrier that support CDMA and/or GSM, you could run into issues - and, getting it to reset & work properly back on CDMA with VZW could be problematic too.
As for the SD card read error, have you checked its usability on the PC or another device directly, do you have another mSD card to check & verify that the slot ont the device isn't broken/damaged/dirty, etc. ?? Format it on a PC to FAT32 and copy a dummy file, re-insert to DI2 and see what happened ...
