I've search up and down the forum and googling, all I see is people asking the same question over and over again, but there are no answers to it.
How can I create a shortcut to the settings page generally? not to any specific features! I'm using the new manila and would like to place a shortcut to the settings browser at the new start menu. I know how to edit a custom shortcut but what's the link to it? any body have any idea? It's the same link as we click on the 'All Settings' softkey when we go to settings tab.
This mite help Its not vga but it works for me.
just unzip
put the settings.exe on your ppc
and create a shortcut to it
let me now if it works for you
it works perfect! thanks! 1 thing is that it's vga so the fonts are bigger than usual.. but at least it does the job for now! how can i get a wvga version of this?
glad I could help
If you find a wvga one let me know
This is what I have on Dutty's ROM for Settings from Programs:
Registry entry HCLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\3
Command: STRING: --switchtopage Manila://settings.page
DispName: STRING: Settings
IconPath: STRING: \windows\HTC\Assets\Images\programlauncher\Program_icon\settings_88.qtc
Path: STRING: \Windows\manila.exe
I guess you can try to remove settings for VGA and setup this registry. You can choose any free position, in my case it's 3 for the first icon in second row.

No this is not I want, I had this on Dutty's rom too. But I can always get there using the touchflo slider. What I want is straight to the settings browser of windows where you got the 'Personal', 'System', 'Connection' tabs at the bottom. Thanks for helping though.
Is there a WVGA version of settings.exe?
VGA is good but not very beautiful...
Thanks.
up, is anybody have the settings.exe for wvga?
up, please, seems that dutty had this settings.exe for wvga
I'm also searching for a solution, i like the new start menu but it's very annoying not to have a direct link to the windows settings. Why do we need a settings.exe ?? I mean if go to the settings tab the left button "All Settings" points to the windows settings, there should be a registry entry or something.
Nobody has a solution for this?
sure there's a solution, for exemple dutty use it in his roms but it seems nobody show interest in this topic.....

But on the Manila Settings tab, the left softkey goes to the Windows setting. So there have to be some kind of shortcut or registry entry behind it.

there is a program called "sk shortcut manager" you can use it to create shortcuts to any settings item, the program is not free but you can use the trial period to create and save all your shortcuts, google it you'll find it

but, who knows, maybe it is rom dependent.
Hi Guys,
I would like to know if it's possible for the Touch Pro 2 screen keyboard to support word suggestion (suggwords) and dynamic auto completion just like in the "good old" SIPs from days of TytnII. eg when i type "goo", I would like "good morning" to appear as a suggested word based on my past use.
I like the layout of the HTC stock Full Qwerty keyboard but much prefer the old system over the new xt9 system.
Any advise on whether and how the above can be achieved would be greatly appreciated!
cheers,
anyone?
I have the same issue. I would love to have the auto complete and suggested words working on my TP2
Use the Advanced Configuration Tool - works
http://www.touchxperience.com/en/advanced-configuration-tool.html
Solution
Hi all,
I had the same problem and could get rid of it via HD Tweak tool, which you can find here: HD Tweak
What I did was simply "20. Keyboard (SIP)" options, I have disabled 20.1 - Automatic display popup, enabled 20.2 T9 Mode and 20.3 Suggest Words to 4 words; and restart.
Now I get 4 recommendations easily when I am sending and sms etc. just like the old days in Kaiser; Works like a charm
I hope it helps.

Diable eT9. Enable COMP IME. This is a registry edit.
Go to: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\layouts\e0010409

Layout Text = COMP IME
Go to: HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9

Ime File : \windows\et9ime.dll change to Ime File :\windows\compime.dll
and
Layout Text : eT9 IME change to Layout Text : COMP IME
And soft reset.

Many thanks, but only one question:
I use frequently as input method the letter recognizer in my HTC Touch HD. With your modifications in the registry, I saw a list of 4 words suggested dinamically (which changes) when introducing one or another letter.
BUT, when I introduce a word that is not in the dictionary (a technical medical word, for example) in one appointment or SMS, and I want to introduce again (in another appointment or SMS) the first two or three letters again, this word is not suggested. It seems like this word is not incorporated in the custom dictionary.
I remember this new word introduced in one appointment or a SMS, was suggested when I introduce the first letters as one of 4 of the list, in my old QTEK s200 (HTC Prophet).
Do you know if is necessary any registry modifications to obtain this feature?
Best Regards and many thanks

Go to: HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9
Edit: XT9SupportMSSip= 0
XT9SupportMSSip was already set to 0. I still cant get auto suggest to work.
I tried setting WordCompletion to 1 from 0, but that did work either.
Anyone get it working? How?
***UPDATE*** Never mind, I used AdvanceConfigTool to set word suggest to 4 words. It was set to 0, so I got 0.

I did this on my Tilt 2 and did not have any issues with my HW keyboard.
I only wish I could edit the fallowing options:
1. Number of letter before it Auto Suggest a word.
2. Set it to not automatically insert a space after I select a suggested word.
Anyone know how to do this?
Aside from that it works great.
The first time I did it, the next day it gave my a keyboard without a spacebar, it had a ".com" & "/" key instead. I did a Clear Storage and did it all again and it works fine now.
UPDATE: Well it was working until I enter my owner info and while inputting my phone number the keyboard switched to a number keypad and now it stuck there. I can't get the regular keyboard to pop back up.
This is getting frustrating!

Best I can tell when the reg is edited to replace eT9 with the original Auto suggest & Auto Complete once the number keyboard come up, it wont go away.
this is a real bummer, I like the nice Touch input keyboard BUT I much prefer the original Auto suggest & Auto Complete. SO far I can't find a way to keep both.

I have a Tilt 2 and running AT&T's stock ROM. For now I'm sticking with the eT9 as to keep an actual usable SW keyboard. Hope there a solution soon.
I haven't seen this anywhere else on this forum, but is anyone else frustrated by the notification bar (top of screen) on the TP2?
On my kaiser I was used to being able to tap on each icon to take me directly into the relevant screen (e.g. Mail, calendar appointment, battery status, volume control or connections screen).
On the TP2 every icon just takes you into 'Notifications' and then you have to click again to go into mail or appointments, but there is no way to the battery, volume control or connections.
Is there any way of restoring the previous functionality of this bar?
Also - (unconnected) anyone know how to change the text colour on the Today screen?
Cheers,
Yup.... asking same question myself.
Get a registry editor, and find the key HKLM\Services\NOTIFICATIONMANAGER\Flags. It should be 0 by default - change it to 4. This stops the HTC notification manager running and restores the default WM functionality.

Works great. Thank you.
*edit* After hours of trying to find out why my text alerts (custom only) wouldn't ring. I changed the value back to "0" and my text alerts worked again. When I used the HTC stock text tones it would work, but not my custom ones. The phones ringtones and custom ringtones worked fine. Any ideas what would have caused the custom text tones not to work with this registry change?

If you are still having this problem, post the ROM version and the registry editor you are using and I can try to help you make the change to your registry key.
Thanks for the response
Rom version is: 1.19.61.3 (51489) WWE This is the standard Orange uk rom
For the registry editor i am using either Schaps registry editor on the phone or Mobile registry editor by Breaksoft on my pc.
Thanks in advance.
If you install the Topaz Notification Manager it gives you the battery status & an icon that'll bring you to the battery options.

How can I change the shortcuts that appear on the TouchFlo 3D Settings tab?
Endless searching on xda-developers and I can't find it, except for hints that it's hidden in some Diamond cab files people have created.
I want to remove some infrequently used settings (eg. "Mail Setup") and add others (eg. Power).
I've seen threads on how to add/change the Programs shortcuts to do this, but not to change the actual Settings tab.
Thanks.
(Reposted from General Discussion Q&A forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550183&goto=newpost; realised this was a better forum as it may be Rhodium-/Manila-specific.)
Hmm you'd probably have to find the _manilla file that displays the settings tab and edit it. This may be a difficult task because there is a ton of _manilla files in the windows folder!
I have managed to remove Mail Setup by editing the registry
\HKCU\Software\Htc\Manila\
"IsShowEmailSetup" = 0
Thanks. Works nicely for that silly Email shortcut, but there are several others I'd like to kill (I really don't change my wallpaper, tabs, 'My Contact Card', or G-Sensor that much HTC!) and more I'd like to add in from the "All Settings" list.
It's a start though, appreciate the tweak.
i just decided to hide the settings tab altogether! totally a waste of space.
How did you hide the settings tab completely? I've been looking to try and do this. it is locked and not editable in my customize tabs. Also I've looked through the manila reg edit and still can't find a binary value that hides settings tab

is it possible to just do a reg edit of this. I hate installing programs I will only use for one purpose and uninstalling them.
in addition, to that ,advance config requires newer framenet which I don't want to install either. (also working off vista, which does not support activesync).
nevermind, I figured it out... but hiding the settings tab renders the whole thing unusable. I just wanted to hide the tab, but not hide the functionality (through start menu).
for those who want to know its as follows:
HKCU\software\htc\manila\
"Manila://settings.page.hidden" = 1
This may be my dumbest post ever, but I find nothing on the topic. I lost my phone 2 nights ago and a nice lady found it and took it home to contact me. By then it locked to the default WM lock screen. Because it had locked, she could not see owner information and returned it to the restaurant. I got it back today.
Question, absent a Manila editor or 3rd party app (e.g. S2U2) is there any way to display owner information on the lock screen of a wm 6.5 sense (manila) stock rom?
M$ must have thought of this but I have no idea how to do it. Sorry if there are 1,000 posts somewhere on this topic.
Thank you!!!

I don't yet have 6.5 but in 6.1 you go to Settings>Personal (Tab)>Owner Information>Options (Tab) and put a checkmark next to "Identification information" for the setting "When the device is turned on, display:"
Has this setting been removed from 6.5?

Thank you, but it does not show when the device is locked in Manila. M$ and HTC are soooo stupid!
On my HTC Touch Pro 2 once its locked i get the owner information when i wake the device, but it seems that once you press the screen to access the unlock screen, you cant get back to the owner information unless you unlock the phone. Its a bit stupid that when you press the power button to put the device to sleep it brings up the owner information every time, but when its locked it doesnt. Pretty stupid if you consider that the only time you really need the owner information to be constant is when you lose your phone or it gets stolen!
I've been googling the whole weekend and did not find anything. Still searching.
Does somebody have any idea about how to show owner info ? As TPC knows the way to move right/left/down the "slide" button, is there a way to add the owner info to the screen ?
(I know S2U does have this option, but I mean using the built-in new unlock feature in WM6.5)
Owner info on lock screen HTC TP2
Anybody who help me out with the owner info on the lock screen? It worked fine in the previous BIOS version and in the latest released BIOS update it 's gone.
I'm able to fill in all the owner details, but it's not displayed when I switch on the device.
Awaiting for a positive response
Kindly regards
Andries
This is something I'd like to do as well. My previous Blackberrys had this and it was a nice feature.
I'm not on wm6.5 but try using WM's built-in Lock feature. On wm6.1 and before, owner's info is displayed before showing the password screen
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/v6-5/Lock-your-phone-touch.aspx
Has anyone found a good solution to displaying the owner information yet? I had put it in the 'hint' but this only appears after you have mistyped the password several times.
Ok, I've found a solution. You can change the text that appears under the slider (usually 'slide'). I've changed to my name followed by my phone number.
You can find it here.

It's a good (provisory) solution !! I think it's the best way to tell whose is the device or what to do in emergency case.
Now, what about connecting what is inside the sentence in the .cpr file to another file ? Does somebody think it's possible ? Or maybe the .dll file could be adapted to read from the "username" keys in the registry ?? (sorry for my question, I have no idea about programming)
Another way
I changed my welcomehead.192.png file to my own picture, and included text in the picture with my name and a request to call a phone number if the phone is found. All you need to have is a program that can put out a 480X800 PNG and be able to add text.
EDIT: The file has to be moved to the \Windows directory. This file says up for almost a minute when the phone boots.

Setting Owner Information on Touch Pro 2
The option to do this easily was removed in 6.5. To enable this follow the advice below:
1. Navigate to Settings, All Settings, Today
2. Click on the Items tab
3. Disable HTC Sense
4. Enable “Owner Info” and tap OK.
5. Enter the Owner information that you would like displayed on the Today screen.
6. Highlight the "Owner Information", and go to the Options tab
7. Check that the "When the device is turned on Display" Identification information is enabled
8. Go back to Item 1 and re-enable HTC Sense
9. The Owner Information will now show when the phone is locked
EDIT: My ROM's Chef said that selecting the 'Owner Info' option will not allow the 'Options' button to function even though 'Owner Info' is enabled for the ROM that I am currently using. However, I was successful in changing my lock screen text by using the 1st posted method above (Customize or Remove Lock Screen Text).
I edited both "TapOrSlide" and "SlideToUnlock", because I noticed that my custom text would not display if I received a notification. Also, keep the number of characters to a minimum, so that it displays correctly. If it is too long, the far left and far right characters will fall off the screen.
Hmm, wonder if there's a way to add additional lines to the displayed text???
Many thanks to the original poster for posing a question that I didn't even know I needed to know!

Thanks so much for this, however, for some reason the "Options" button is greyed out (unavailable) in the Today Screen Item Settings page even though I have Owner Info highlighted... Damn! May have to try the other method. Anyone have any success with either?
I've also sent a message to my ROM's Chef asking if this is a bug or whether this is an option that was somehow left out of the build that I'm using.
Debbie
jamiemckee posted a good solution that I use. Make a reg edit to revert back to the WM6.1 Device Lock & do away with the 6.5 Lockscreen. Just your Today Screen shows.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\LockScreen\Enable
Default Value: 1 (for Sliding lock screen)
Changed Value: 0 (for soft key lock a la wm6.1)
I found this because I actually WANTED to disable the default WM6.5 lockscreen as I prefer the soft key unlock, partly because of the memory the sliding lock uses, and also because I want to be able to see the gorgeous sense 2.5 interface when I turn my phone on to see the time.
BK
This functionality has to be in the 6.5 OS somewhere. I used to have a TouchPro 2 with 6.1 and it displayed the owner information during power up. To get this information to appear on my Tilt 2, I had to download and install an app called SKTools. Now I have an applet in the Personal settings under the Settings option in the start menu where one wasn't before.
