I did search and could not find my answer. The closest I found was in the Main forum for GingerVillain 1.5 was 1 post about pershoot kernel and saying not to install it as it doesn't work but that was like a month ago. So I was wondering if there is a difference in the kernel that comes with Gingervillain and the Pershoot kernel that is available in ROM Manager? I was thinking about flashing the Pershoot (Gingerbread) in the ROM Manager, but I was not sure if it was a good idea, compatible or would make it better or worse.
Sorry I would have posted this in the Gingervillain 1.5 thread but I do not have enough post to do so. I just started rooting and flashing last week so I am new and still learning a lot. I have already successfully rooted and have flashed already Cyanogenmod 6.1 and now am trying Gingervillain 1.5. Thank you for any help.

Sorry guys, I haven't flashed my rom in months - last time i did the 2 most popular were LeeDroid and Oxygen.
What are people using these days? What are the most popular ones?
Thanks!
I'm running Oxygen 2.0.2, since I want a fast, stable and minimum system
Hey. check this thread out, its got a poll that might help you decide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846926
personally im running leedroids latest still. holding out untill ginegerbread
sense. i dipped my toes in the waters of HD sense roms and CM but always
came back to leedroid.
I'm Running Redux 1.1.1 RC2 at the moment, Not had a problem with it (well infact I have, I found a very minor bug, reported it and it's going to be fixed for RC3 apparently )
I am running RCmixHD 3.5.1 ... and curious about the selling point of leedroid, better a comparison....
i personnally think Cyanagen 7, but its still testing so not 100% great yet
so recommend Oxygen
that is of course assuming you dont want sense
Just tried Nil's Business gingersense rom. I like it. Doesn't seem to be as sanppy as CM 7 but maybe it will show the 3G bars correctly. I don't have enough posts to pose this question in the Nil's thread so I'll post it here. Can you overclock with this ROM? I know you can't use setcpu. If so, what is a recommended ROM?
No you cannot overclock, as it's the stock kernel. I don't understand the last part of the question, If so what is a recommended ROM...? Do you mean kernel? I know there were a couple of people in that thread the said Hydra's and someone else's kernel worked for Nils' ROM, but I haven't seen a post updating how stable/unstable it is.
Sorry, I meant kernel. I switched away from Nils' as it was missing a few features I wanted. I had CM 7 for a while but now I am back to Virtuous.
Once the GingerSense kernel source code is released, it's game on for custom kernels.
Ok so I am new to the droid Incredible and as you can kind of tell I am coming from the HTC Hero by sprint. I looked around but nothing really helped me making a decision so now I am asking you! I am currently running the newest Synergy ROM which is android 2.3.3 and I haven't seen any gingerbread Kernels, just froyo. What kernel would you recommend for battery life because I am used to having atleast 2 days but I was running cm7 but I missed sense way too much lol
Unfortunately there are no options for custom sense GB kernels aside from what the rom comes with.
ok so that's why I could not find any, is there one in the works though?
That'll be a possibility when the official GB version source code is released, which will be after we would receive the OTA.

Kernal help
I too need help picking a Kernal. I am totally new to this Rom thing but luckly was able to root & get SkyRaider 4.2 running on my Droid Inc. on my first go with no trouble.
So what I'm mainly looking for is to get:
1. Better battery life
2. To overclock cpu
(If you have any other tips for me on getting the most out of my phone, they would be MUCH appreciated.)
So I've been thinking of flashing the Incredikernal 2.632. But I know that this new version of SkyRaider was just updated or released not too long ago. Will this effect my decision? Is the Incredikernal I want even compatible with my current SkyRaider rom? Or should I just stick with what I have? Thanks in advance.
I'd recommended trying incredikernel, you're not gonna hurt anything flashing kernels so there's nothing to lose and you very well may see improvements in performance and battery life. Just make sure you get the incredikernel for sense from 12/23. Other options to look into are heyitslou and ziggys.
I have been off the scene for awhile so much changes so quick. I have rooted my phone with unrevoked last year and am on jiminy v cricket rom. My phone has been working good. I found out about hdmwin mirror and it did not work so that brought me here. I am currently still on android 2.2 and rooted and want to try some new roms like cyna 7 and nitelies. here are my questions
1. do i need to re root phone to newer version or is unrevoked still alright
2. what roms work for 2.2 and get hdmi mirror for hdmwin
3. same thing as question 2 for kernals.
4. any addtional info
I read quite a few threads and got confused..
thanks for you help.
Shouldn't need to re-root. Why are you holding off on running a 2.3 ROM?
I am not sure if the new roms matched up with android 2.2. might be missing some info on this I read but a little confused on the 2.2 to 2.3 and so forth on which roms work for each one.
You don't need to upgrade to official 2.3. I never did. The 2.3 ROMS are not gonan give you the great battery life that Froyo ROMS had, but they have a TON more to them now. No SBC Kernels for Sense, either.
You in a good state right now. Go to the link in my URL. It will explain everything about cm7 and you need to flash amon RA too which is in there
Having trouble with AOSP? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295702

Kernels: Chopsuey 9.2.7 and Freedom .9 are the major ones, if you are sticking with Sense.
Kernels are the major part. I would suggest MikG, or if you are feeling adventurous, either MikRunny or Hybrid (in Jaredthegreat's thread FEARMEde). I suggest mounting data in recovery before flashing any kernel. Under "Mounts" option in recovery.
Maybe you need to update to AmonRa 2.3, still the best
AOSP-wise, either MIUI or Deck's, paired with Tiamat 4.1 kernel SBC.

Hi every one..... I'm not so new to XDA as i have been using its threads for info about rooting, s-off and custom ROMS on my desire..... I really appreciate all the work being done here and all the developers. But this is my very first post, i hope some one will respond to me.
I have explored my device from root to tip. I have rooted, s-off desire with 4ext classic recovery and installed ROM is wmjam's runnymedde&bliss AIO which is based on sebaastians and other ppls runny ROMS. My problem is that my device does not run stable on HAVS kernels. i was previously on MIUI XJ and MIUI US, and i used MANU's SVS CFS kernels. Now im using gingercakes 0.9 sense SVS kernels. I cant seem to figure out why my device wont run HAVS kernel(sense or aosp). Can somebody help me?
Sorry for the very long post. I'm new here so will learn in time
Thanks.
