Is there a way to remove the network name from the lock screen ?
I'm with Virgin Mobile in Australia and on the lock screen it is displayed as:
Virgin
Mobile
With the bottom half of Mobile cut off.
It's not a major problem, but i just gets annoying.
I have a unlocked stock DHD with the 1.72 software update.
If possible i wanna do it without having to downgrade and Root my phone

To change /edit system files you will need to root,
Or you could buy widget locker from the market
Running CM8 aka Meringue, From the Future lol DHD
I would like to know if this is possible too.
Really want to remove T-Mobile from my lockscreen, but don't want to use Widgetlocker as it doesn't work well enough for me (slight delay where you can see standard lockscreen).
I'm running ARHD 2.0.9 with Liamstears Green theme... so fully rooted, s-off etc. I know how to change and edit system files, just unsure of what files I will need to chage or edit to do this
Thanks.

Hey all, i just flashed my T-Mobile Dash with the latest WWE 1.33.422.1, and i have a couple of issues that i am unable to solve.
1) Why does the carrier name say "Get More...", and is it possible to change this?
2) Is there any way to enable alphanumeric dialing like there was on the t-mobile rom? Not with the call screen background hack, i mean true alphanumeric dialing. (registry edit or something)
Help is greatly appreciated

I tried using an original Dash homescreen and it displayed as T-Mobile. I'm guessing it's hidden in the home screen XML.
I tried dumping the registry from the Dash ROM and the new ROM but there are too many differences between the two for me to figure out if it's a simple registry change. (At least not without a guide).
hmm, using a home screen from another one did it for you? thats weird... im using the same home screen i was using on the T-Mobile firmware and it still isnt displaying properly....

I wonder if it's location based, but it did say T-Mobile when I was using the blue T-Mo homescreen.
I would check, but I flashed back to T-Mobile's ROM, I didn't like the quirks in this one.
I agree, my only big complaint about this rom is the lack of alphanumeric dialing.
I've installed the cab that puts the image up with the letters, but it DOESN'T SHOW DURING INITAL DIALING, only during a call.
WTF?
Anyone have any idea how we can figure this out?
with theh htc rom there's two images you have to overwrite, not just one.
HTC_BrandingBrickImg_320x27.bmp
and
HTC_CallProgressBkg_320x186.bmp
replacing (or editing) those two images will give you the button image (or whatever you want to call it) for a regular phone.
Hallo Guys,
my Name is Veit and im from Germany, so please dont hang me up if my english is incorrect.
Ive bought a HTC Desire and i know an App called "Best Profiles" from my Nokia-Symbian-Phone and now i want to get something else on my Desire.
Best Profiles could switch my Nokia during the night into a "Offline-Profile" where Networking and WLAN is disabled so save Battery. In the morning it automatically switch back to a "Online-Profile" WITHOUT entry of the PIN.
I found some apps that could switch between several Profiles by time-schedule but always the PIN needs to be re-entered.
Is there a way to get it like on the Symbian-Phone ???
Will it be possible with a other App or with a Custom-ROM ?? My Desire is already rooted and my current ROM is the Offficial Untouched Froyo 2.2 from the Forums here !!
Hoping for future answers and a big THX for the guys who do the hard work here !!!
Have you looked at JuiceDefender on the market?
Can do all you want and more
It's free for controlling the mobile internet but you will need to buy UltimateJuice if you want to be able to control WiFi etc.
Hey, thats a good question. I didnt know that app before now.
So if i install / buy that app i should set the phone into Flight-Profile ( Disconnect from Network, shut down WiFi, shutdown Bluetooth ) and reverse all those settings after sleeping without retyping my PIN ???
Hello,
its me again. Ive tried 3 different Apps but everytime the same situation:
I have to re-enter my PIN after reconnect to the Network !!
Any suggestions ????
I don't think you will get an app to do exactly what you want.
When the desire is in flight mode it turns the radio off, turning the radio back on requires the pin entry.
Ultimate juice can turn off wifi, apn's etc, but would leave the radio on so it's not ideal for you.
Other than turning the pin prompt off, I can't see an easy solution for you.
S..t,
OK if its the only way i will switch off my PINcheck and will secure my Phone with the Unlock-Figure.
Maybe in the future some of the ROM-Kookers could switch of the PIN-Reentry procedure after switch off the Flight-profile.
Regards
Veit

Good idea! It might be worth asking for this feature in a specific rom thread so you can be sure the dev knows about it?
Hey guys,
I was using vodafone offical rom but sometimes having black screen or frozen screen when my connection instantly drops down from High Speed TO Edge connection..
So I tried upgrade my desire with a custom rom, but I still have the same problem. Plus now, not only in the change type of the connection, but olsu on multiple task (like talking with someone and having text message at the same time) I got the problem again.
And only way to get back normally, remove the battery and put it back again ( If I am lucky it runs, sometimes freezing after I enter the pin code)
Getting mad about it, plz help (
What you should have done was hand it over to vodafone first.
u mean it can be about hardware?
no, I mean it was vodafone official, and therefore, it is better to go through them.
on the vodafone official rom, I had the same problem when I have Edge connection, cause of that I installed a custom rom..
you don't understand. Because you were on official vodafone, you could have had official support.
I had many many freeze
I tried to bend the sim slot and the SD slot
It worked for me not a single freeze for one month

Hello! I have just bought a new HTC One V mobile from amazon.com that comes from Cricket Service that bla bla bla... the thing is that, after talking with the seller, it turns out that is a CDMA phone. I would prefer it to be GSM, but its ok, since I just needed a phone to develop android apps, not to use it. And as Im from Spain... well I could have it get unlock and use it back in Spain, but I know that this is not my case.
Well, my question is... is there a way to get rid of all phone features from the phone? convert it to a media player. I was thinking in something like what the Galaxy 5 is to the Galaxy family. I know I can just put it in Flight mode... but it is posible to do this?
I was wondering... fastboot erase radio... will be ok, or it will brick my phone. On the other side, I also have a Nexus S, and one day, testing new roms, I miss-flashed it with an 4g rom (the phone is gsm). It happend nothing other that I got no signal. is this the same case? could I flash a GSM rom? or it will brick it?
I also tried cyanogenmod on some phones, and they allow you to get rid of the signal icon...
thank you!
I have managed to disable the phone capabilities via the wifi-only script with radiooptions. The thing is, is there a way to remove ariplane mode switch, data switch, and all related phone switches from the settins.apk?
Also, is there a way to remove the signal icon from statusbar?
I am using stock virgin mobile rom, because it has great compatibility with bluetooth, I have try aokp and does what I want but, it has glitches and bluetooth does not work smoothly.
Thank you!
Hi, I got my Butterfly 3 yesterday.
It had an old tampered (without "au" stuff) KDDI ROM that wouldn't update so I flashed to a more recent one, rooted, flashed the GPS fix and disabled/uninstalled all the "au" stuff. The phone is now working great except for a few things that are very annoying, and I'd like to know if the Taiwan version doesn't have the same problems:
1 - Can't seem to find a way to select 2G, 3G or 4G mode. My previous One M7 had that option under "mobile data". Here it's completely gone (what the hell? it's the first phone I've ever seen without this..).
This is especially bad because I can't seem to be able to enable LTE (the phone's bands are supported in my country). Since I can't try to force "4G only" in the phone, there's no way to know if there's a problem with my APN configuratin (which I had to input manually.. for the first time ever on a smartphone), if there's a problem with the antenna, or if my SIM card simply doesn't have 4G enabled. Does the Taiwan version have the "force 4G" option?
2 - I've added the country code to almost all my contacts (+351) in order to be able to call them whenever I was abroad. The phone won't detect any contact that has a "+" in the number, so the person's name doesn't appear. Same thing with SMS: if there's a "+" in the number, I can't reply to the sms or send new ones. Is there a way to overcome this with the KDDI ROM? Does the Taiwan ROM have this problem too?
I'm split between "upgrading" to the Taiwan Marshmallow or keeping the KDDI one.
To be honest, I'd rather stay with Lollypop if it means getting usable NFC. On the other hand, if the Taiwan ROM fixes the problems mentioned above then I'll say goodbye to NFC.
I fixed it by having two numbers on one person. So you got the number with the country code(+...) and the number without country code(for me: 06....).
As for the problem with the settings, I can't find it either :/
Maybe the option is just hidden away, but I never use mobile data.
I've been in your shoes

I'm in the states , but calling both and texts has been fine. (I had a damaged SIM couldn't send texts)
If you really want japan's au bloat that even with a pro root uninstaller still leaves grime just to keep NFC, I have a solution for you to get data.
P.S.You need root for any real fixes like this one
use es file explorer and turn on root read write permissions, it'll ask when you use the left side panel to access system directory.
Use search to find apn-config.xml
Replace file with one from cyanogenmod rom or any phone you have.
Data should now work. To fix SMS uninstall it, clear out its folder and install any HTC text messaging app and place apk in folder. (then clear cache)
Also, update as much as possible before rooting, b/c its a bootloader unlock and this phone has not bootloader update with marshmallow you can always root with twrp.
Private message me with any questions I'll respond asap. I'm no developer (despite my attempts linux hates me), but I know my way around the average android device and have kept up with everything for this one.
(Taiwan has no gps issues, uninstallable bloatware, nor apn/4g problems)

Are you absolutely sure that uninstalling sms.apk and clean the cache solved the problem for you. I tried that long time but didn't work for me. Which APK did you uninstall ? providers.apk, sms.apk or mms.apk ?
I don't have GPS, 4G issues on Japan version, the only problem is SMS "+" resolution.
