If you have clock work 3.x check if the zips you are flashing are converted to edify scripts. Or since I think truly epic is edify anyways, you're probably not on clockwork 3.x. look for dameons posts on installing the clockwork mod 3

I don't believe syndicate even has a EXT4 (Clockworkmod3 compatible) ROM, so you must be trying to flash RFS only ROM's from the sound of it.
Make sure the ROM you flash says EXT4, not RFS.
EDIT: Checked Truly Epic ROM out and it looks like it should work fine with Clockwork 3.0.0.5.
When you say it doesn't work, what do you mean exactly? Whats it do?

i can't load the amon_ra recovery, doesn't actually work when i do it through rom manager, and i used unrevoked to root. just got my evo back from a 3 month long period of not having it (it broke and i was to lazy to take it in) i had RA before and was running cynogen 6, just rooted last night, and looked in the thread for RA Recovery and none of it is working.
all the directions didn't work for me, or i forgot how to adb and therefore can't do that. i tried terminal on the phone and everything, i really don't want to flash a rom until i do a nandroid with ra.

None are complete all still in beta mode (imo) would be best to just get a good aosp Rom and add theme gingerbread. Also cm6.1.1 is the best I have used but that's all opinion. Heard cm7 will be gingerbread and should be out soon!

I have my phone with DK28 Rooted installed and that was the top of line when i did it.. But now I see all these EC?? and EI22 if will all have EPICS what changed? Which is the best to update to? What will I gain? Lastly how do I do it? I flashed Shake and Bake and Love it... Thanks for the help
DKwhat? EI22 is the latest and greatest update from 2.1 to android 2.3 gingerbread. This is the official release from sprint and samsung. Try legendary 2.2 or some others like cleangb if you like stock.
Seems like you've been in the woods huh? There's a lot of benefit now on ei22 its just so much more stability/reliablity. Plus the kernels are so much more advanced 1.5ghz clockable very stable no more cpu frying much cooler....the list goes on etc. Just update. the best route not the easiest though is to Odin to stock ec05 then download and install the update on your phone its a system update. Then root it via a qbking77 video that ill give you if you decide to do this.

Don't use acs use cwm 5.0.2.7... it is our official supported cwm! Flash that and then try again... you can also go to mounts and storage and manually mount sd card and if your going to flash an ei22 rom no need to flash superuser as the rom will come with it preinstalled

MTD? Then you are screwed. You can't get back to stock without Odin or Heimdall. You need to repartition. BUT there is an MTD version of the FB15 leak which should look enough like stock to get you through:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522816
That is the best you can do. You should also do the 2 flashable modems to get you to EL30 and delete Superuser before you bring it in.

It depends on how interested the tech is in making sure it is not a software problem. There are a few horror stories about accounts getting flagged but most of the time the techs don't care. Just smile a lot...lol.

This thread scares the hell out of me. A bad USB port on your epic is a fatal blow to your potential sprint insurance coverage. I cant think of anything worse, especially if your on MTD. Although, if your paying for insurance, i dont think it should really matter what firmware/rom you have on your device.
To the OP, you should be fine. As long as you can make it look at stock as possible, the average sprint employee is not smart enough to get into specifics. They are usually pretty cool about it. As a matter of fact, the tech at my local sprint store put gingerbread on my phone a week before it was released using odin (this was before I knew anything about flashing or rooting), most of the tech's do exactly what we do, so dont sweat it too much.

The one I posted a few posts back (post 16) by Bbelos is the closest to complete stock for MTD. Just delete superuser when done. Then you are only left with CWM recovery as evidence.
I have heard that there is a new CWM recovery fr the Samsung Epic, is this true? could it be?
Right now I'm on 5.0.0.7 and as far as I know its the latest and greatest. Am I right or am I a total dummy?

CWM6? Yes, i've used that as well on CM9 & 10. As for the Epic(my daily), i'd like to know if anyone knows where I can find a later version than v5.0.2.7 ?
I've seen v5.5.0.4, but I believe that isn't for the Epic.
What I like about the newer versions of CWM is auto-scroll. (when you just hold down/up on the volume button and away you go, VS "click-click-click-click. UGH" )
Also, Im currently on (my fav) The People's Rom (TPR). I am hoping any newer version of CWM will work with the Epic and the rom.
Feedback will be awarded with thank you's nd smileys

Heck yeah 5.0.2.7 is the latest and greatest. TWRP recovery is pretty good too, but I think that is only exclusive to some newer Roms. CWM 5.0.2.7 is about your best bet, unless you like CWM's older recovery versions but I would not recommend that.
And just another Thank you to DRockstar, awesome job! I've been using it for all different kinds of things and I haven't had one problem.

Could somebody please explain why flashing a ROM (AOKP) on this kernel/recovery would brick my phone? I'm not blaming anyone but myself, but I just really don't want to go through it again. I know it's risky, but I mean not like that. Followed instuctions and flashed per instructions like always. I was flashing AOKP. But would it matter what I was flashing, or where I'm flashing from? I do not know if it had any updates. I guess I had hoped if it was unsafe, or "risky" it would have been in the OP. I'm just trying to figure out what the heck I'm missing here. Yes, so do I. I just didn't here  So you use CWM to flash TW ICS to TW ICS?
I use the el26 kernel or I use chris41g's twrp kernelor even his cwm kernel. They will overwrite the updater binaries using its own. However some zips will not like it and abort. Its safe as hell though. El26 is the first choice though

Well went down to Sprint. $35 and getting a new phone Friday most likely. Could be worse I guess.
