anybody have any recomendations or thoughts on any alternative gingerbread based custom roms for the g2? i love cyanogenmod not bashing it at all, theres just a few perticular reasons i dont want to use it anymore but thats another thread already. thanks for any info
MIUI 1.8.12 - Why not give that a try. There's no sense.
well there's stock G2 OTA rooted builds up. There's also a couple other AOSP based ROMs like g-lite and one stock 2.3 build by xboarder56.
I'm running a CM7 nightly right now. But sometimes I like to run a MIUI with launcher Pro. Smooth neat Improvements.
thanks for the feedback everyone. im just actually looking at replies as i was sick for a few days. im very much considering the miui but the one time i did flash it i was almost confused by the completly redesigned settings menu almost overwhelming, very cool rom though. what i really want it basically a tuned down cyanmod, i do love his roms its just that 65-70% of the options in it i dont and will never use. i understand why all the tweaks its so it includes something for everyone. actually is there a cyanogenmod online kitchen? that could be my cup of tea perhaps.

Fail.
Am I blind, is my Tapatalk broken, or did he open two same threads whose meaning is beyond any rational level of stupidity?

yet another thread about rom recommendation
lol, theres loads
personally, i'd say the one i'm running with launcher7- see sig.
well imagine EVERYBODY could cut & paste this reply. what is your favorite colour? i like red but it's not blue enough for some. better just try a few & see what takes yr fancy
The most stable imo is GingerVillian, it's a stock Gingerbread ROM with latest Google Market.
Runnymede AIO all the way for me, it is a brilliant rom.
Lol, I don't know who's moar funny here, trolls or those who spoon feed morons again, and again and again out of some false courtesy and thinking they are helpful....
If you want an AOSP rom try CyanogenMod 7, it's fast and stable. If you're searching for a Sense rom I think Runnymede AIO is the best at the moment
I wanted to know what are the best roms too but then i realized that i would have to try it out.
It really depends on you, do you want Sense or stock design, usability or speed...
I can really recommend you Redux or Oxygen, both are fast and both have propably everything what you need.
But it is my taste, i don't really like sense roms for example...
imo the best is not created yet
at the moment i have CoolSense 3.0 Aces v6 Bravo (it is so fast and stable), before i had LeeDroid 2.5 (stable, but no so fast, good battery life) and good factory stock rom
It's a hard question
I've tried cyano but i want lo have sense so i put InsertCoin.
Then i tried gingerbread with Aurora and now I have runnymede.
The last two is very good rom.I prefer the first because it's more easy but if u want a complete rom, use runnymede.
Oxygen is the most stable custom rom on desire imo. Its essentially hack free with a great kernel.

The best stable rom for the desire = cm7 . In my opinion

i stick to the official..way better than anything else!
I used to enjoy the stock roms, but found that sense was terrible. I, personally, would go for the latest Oxygen release for stability. I'm currently using Sandvold's ICS rom and enjoying it, but it isn't without it's bugs currently.

Sense is terrible in what way exactly?!
I really want a ROM that looks nice like sense roms but they really don't have the best performance. I want a rom that let's me play games without lag or rebooting. One with a good camera and camcorder like in sense roms. Doesn't matter if it's sense, miui, aosp, whichever one. Just want a fast rom with these features. Im running mikg 3.11 with anthrax right now

Digitalkarma v7 it is the best rom.

There are too many roms to single one out as "the best"
Nitrous rom, Simplicity, DigitalKarma V7 and classic are the top sense roms.
Decks reloaded is the best gingerbread hands down.
Ics roms don't have working 4g or camcorder but Jmz has found a way to get it working (cm9 nightlies) team dirt cm9 and the new RemICS are the best ics in my opinion. It'd be in your best interest to look around for something you'd like.
Call me "Lord His Soapiness" because I clean s*** up
Totally agree with death by soap. I'm really loving Team DIRT and the RemICS Rom he put out (I believe there was an update yesterday).
Also, the Decks Reloaded was actually referred/recommended by MazRaida if I'm not mistaken, and that was within his own thread.
Lastly, if you are looking for something that is similar to what you get with the standard EVO, but want to be able to Tether, and have free reign to do as you please with your apps, I would also suggest Nitrous or Simplicity. Loved those when I first rooted my phone a month ago.
Since then, I've been getting with Tadow, who has been showing me how to put more interesting ROMS on my phone.
Oh...and be sure to read, because if you are like me, and like having Netflix/Hulu/HBO, etc, then be very careful. I know alot of the ICS roms have had issues with them. But that's what flashing is for
I'm basically looking for the ARHD of TouchWiz. I'm seeing a lot of stock-BASED roms, with a bunch of mods and themes I don't want. I'm looking for souped up stock Jelly Bean. Any ideas?
These threads are frowned upon... This is a resource bible that has almost all of the stock roms with a write up for the popular ones.

Take a look at mt3g's thread and pick one. If you don't like it, you can always flash another.
The problem with threads like this is that all of the developers work hard on their ROMs, and to say one is best would not only be disrespectful to the other developers, it would be little more than a personal opinion. There is no "best" ROM, there's only a ROM that has the features you like (where someone else may like the features of another ROM better).

I used the CM9 Rom on my Epic and generally enjoyed it. With the SG3, what seems to be the Rom of choice for most to offer and stability?

All the touchwiz rom are stable, the difference between them are themes and features like multi window. 4.2 AOSP roms are a w.I.p imo, but the little bugs can be tolerated.

Like said above, touchwiz is stable but I favor CM10. Awesome ROM. People say AOSP is always buggy, but I can tolerate it. I love cyanogenmod

Miui or aokp

@OP, we're steering this conversation towards rom types because as your question stands now, its gonna get locked.
I dont yet have this phone, but I love Sense. Sense, sense, sense roms all the way
Especially Sense 4.0+. Beautiful.
MIUI seems kinda bland to me, but AOSP is simple and sweet

it sounds like most people like either CM10 or AOSP. any techies out there able to explain what one has that the other does not? I have used CM for years, but unfamiliar with AOSP. The other thing i liked having for the Epic, was I was able to switch back and forth between the stock rom and CM9 for Sprint updates. Can i still do that with the GS3? I was looking for the Stock Rom to have as a zip but did not find it on the forum. Helps with Sprint updates

CM is an AOSP style rom.
Transmitted with a portable device using Xparent Blue Tapatalk 2
what does CM10 offer that the stock rom does not?
Fo sho its the Rom to have and use is the Chemistry Rom because I have a GS3 fleshed to boost and all my main functions I need all work with this ROM. My mms and my voice mail. And with Ktweaks kernel I am getting some serious battery time on this ROM so its over all the perfect ROM right now to have. And my man Sac is there every step of the way to give support and help with any issues
If you use cm10 or any aosp or aokp rom you lose all the goodies in touchwiz like motion effects.

Personally I like MOAR ROM, great list of features and you can theme it however you want during install

It gives you a clean, stock android look, theme able, no bloatware, uses less ram. I have heard better battery life but I don't know. It has CM10 tweaks. If you can wait till cm10.1 is stable, it should be pretty awesome.

does anyone know if there is a zip file of the stock 4.1.1. rom out there so that if I do download cm10 rom, i could switch back and forth between CM10.1 and stock rom
Make a backup in recovery. Thats what its there for
I like to break stuff!
Agreed. Backups are good

Most of the roms in the Dev section are rock solid (minus a few bugs which are normal in almost everything) the only way to figure out which you are going to like is to read the OP of a few that sound interesting, flash and take it for a drive (give a day or two typically) unless you can't stand it. MOAR, TPR, and FAT ASS (Cartman Edition of TPR) are all great TW based roms, offer all the fun of normal TW.. Incredible themeing options via Morphology.
Free GS3 is another great rom (from what i hear) as well. I haven't personally ran this one either, but does work with Morphology for themeing options.
Just scan the dev section. You'll find a good fit.

Just nicks for the roms, minus the last one.. here's the direct links.
TN's rom is the best thing around right now in my opinion. Its got all the latest and greatest mods (multi, ink, 8 lock-screens, skip tracks) while keeping the stability of TW.

Well buddy that's a matter of personal preference. Find out what you like your phone to do and find a rom that suit your needs. Unfortunately you won't get a definitive answer on this subject. Trial and error until you find what you like.
