Hi everyone
What is the maximum frequency desire can be overclocked to?
And where can i get the kernel?
Thank you in advance

Max stable OC is 1190MHz and can be found here. Scroll down to the kernels and see whats what.
One caveat: 1190 is not universally stable. Some desires can handle it, but many have found that the phone freezes requiring a battery pull. Overclocking to 1152 seems stable for everyone afaik.

I stand corrected
Can anyone help me to use setcpu?
It always return to the default frequency 998mhz!

Hi.
I tried many kernels and many oc profiles with setcpu and now I'm back on stock frequencies 998 mhz, because with that it is stable, batterydrain is "normal" and the quadrant score isn't a score for me...

Mine is 2550 With Overclocked CPU 1190MHz on latest Starburst Rom 1.3.3.4 Data2ext
Without Overclocking at 1000MHz i get 2050
Have you seen my video I get a little more than that with the insertcoin Rom HD PORT
2659!

After I install the fake score plus script, I get 4000
Btw, A2SD+ and 1850.

Before the overclock i get a score of 2149 @ 998mhz
Real score is around 1850 with the ROM in my signature (A2SD+ version). With OC, I manage to get near 2000, but not really tested it I'm fine with it.
why are you people so concerned on the Quadrant score? it is impactless in real life usage

Agreed....
Depends on what you use your phone for? Maybe it doesn't matter for texting, calling, alarms and small apps, but its more advanced programs such as PhotoShop or wireless hacking or programs that demand more speed. I want people to post different speeds of different ROMs for trying out and playing with and so people can discuss which speeds can be achieved by different roms and therefore compare easily

Well, then don't rely on those D2Ext fake scores then
devNULL standard 1100 no idea about CPU etc
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Mine was 2497 with starburst ROM with 1190 of and class 4 4GB Micro SD card
What causes lighter ROM's such as DevNull to have lower scores than ROM's running Sense? Seems like Sense should be slower since it has more to process.

I think the CPU is underclocked running alot slower

Does make sense but I remember trying it on Oxygen RC7 with OC to 1100MHz or whatever was setCPU's max and all I could get out of it was around 1400...no idea how people get over 2000.
I am getting average of late 1700's with Insertcoin 2.0.0 APP2SD version on standard 998 clocks with smartass gov
About the same,~1100, I'm using leedroid 2.3d

To be honest I'm not too fussed. DevNULL is faster than any other rom I've tried and far faster than a sense rom. Not sure why the quadrant score doesn't reflect that.

getting about 1200ish on gingervillian
ditched quadrant after that en switched to smartbench
Hey guys is it safe to use set cpu to oc evo? or what app would you recommend?
I use set CPU and it is safe to a certain point. If you overclock to far your phone will lock up and you will have to pull the battery. You have to experiment to see how far u can go. My phone is stable as a rock at 1152 MHz but gets llocked up at 1190 MHz so like i said experiement with it

614 mhz is the new OC! Try over clocking for sure but you see more profitable results under clocking. I do however use set cpu to OC when I am charging

Fellas,im looking to use SetCPU to OC my evo,i need a custom kernel i assume.two questions.
1.can i flash a custom kernel using the mount/unmount zip in recovery for my GodMode Synergy?
2.What Are Good Values,im trying to safely underclock to save battery life.
HTC EVO 4G Synergy RC2
--We Are Revolutionary--
@gotheart, I strongly suggest freedom kernel by Lithid. There are bugs as it is in beta stage but he is an amazing developer and will implement an incredible kernel. He has one specifically for godmode so make sure you get that. He has versions that underVOLT the processor, using less battery. Though I would be cautious as some phones become very unstable with these changes.
Underclocking for CPU is variable... I like 614 MHz, some choose to go lower. I have noticed Sense ROMs (like synergy) are a bit more touchy with performance tweaks. For me, even in hot weather I need to bump my settings up, as my phone can't keep up with the heat.

Thanks so much man.i was a dev at one point..but i dunno jack about clocking cpu.lol.so youre saying 614,as in set the max value to 614 correct?and i sure will check out that kernel

My best battery life is on AOSP ROM's with this set up on tiamat kernel.

what aosp rom your running?
I had been running decks, however, I have jumped skip to SalvagMod.

Ill also note a program i purchased, was cpu master by antutu inc.
Pretty much similar to setcpu.
Has profile options etc.

What is the safest speed that a desire can be overclocked to?
Are there any disadvantages or any long term drawbacks with overclocking?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
With a pc, the danger of overclocking was a combination of high clock cycle + increase of heat by introducing more power.
We don't have the heat issue as our kernels are undervolted. This means we get same clock (998 mhz) for less power. Ergo, we can get a higher clock at similar voltage as HTC stock.
Now I'm not going to say your CPU won't degrade over time. But the largest contributor (by s long way) has been removed.
The only issue really is what is stable. Some desires overclocked, when put under load will freeze and / or reboot. If this happens, you're overclocked too much.
1190 is the max but many desires aren't stable there

Well it depends what you mean by that.
If you have a kernel that is 998Mhz at 1200 mV, then you overclock the same kernal to 1113mhz which is at 1275mV, whilst you are running at 1113mhz you will be using more power than you would have been on 998 - yes.
However, I believe (correct me if I am wrong as its been a long time) stock sense kernels are 998mhz at 1300mV so in comparisson to that, overclocking wont use more power.
Hey guys,
I actually rooted my One v and also began using a custom Rom - KangBang v3 with hellboy kernel. I found the overclocking and voltag-controll in the menu. What is the maximum you wold overclock and at wich voltage?
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
I personally don't use and prefer OCing above 1.5ghz.at 1.9ghz,phone reboots every time an app is opened, freezes sometimes...
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
i never overcloked my Phone for me he is fast i think there is also a risk when you overclock
1.5 is pretty stable, any higher than that is a gamble. I got pretty good scores in antutu at 1.5, but not high enough to warrant constant over clock. Heck I usually run with 768 MHz on the high side for tiny bit better battery life and don't notice any slowdowns.
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
I go 245 low and 1200 high and 1708 low and max for games, that's the max without reboot
Sent from my HTC One V using a laser
Ok, i overclocked it up to 1.5 GHz maximum. At this frequenzy gta III runs smooth xD.
But for daily use, this drains the battery too fast -.-
But I think 1ghz is enough for normal use without gaming

Hey guys,
I am using Surprimo Rom v30
just wanted to ask if it has any such option of setting the processor setting
I haven't found any such settings during my usage.
So if it doesn't have such settings then what is the default setting set to?
I overclocked to 1,5 Ghz and use it daily with SmartassV2 governor. Battery lasts enough to load it back up overnight.

Your insane for trying 1.9 xD.
Don't exceed 1.4.
Overclocking a 1ghz kernel to 1.9 is dangerous.
Sent from my HTC One V using Tapatalk 2
even at 2ghz,there is no damage done to ur phone.generally people feel that it will damage and fry their phone, but thats not true.it only may reboot and freeze just for some time.there is no serious damage as many feel.
Running at 1.2GHz max right now. I'm too paranoid to go any higher than that. It got rid of the minor lag issues I was having (occasionally seeing "loading" when going back to the Sense home screen from an app)
Hello!
I am playing arround with XM Kernel #235 and Black Pearl 5.0.1 ROM.
With stock values @ 1200MHZ AnTuTu scores arround 16000 but when i UV it - my phone gets uber slow (only on benchmark, not UI) and scores only 2500.
Even Subway Surfer seems to be strugling abit.
Another thing, I tried OverClocking to the limits.
This is what happened:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39069291&postcount=3693
Hello
I have some questions regarding #235.
I am using it on Black Pearl v5.0.1
I tried to overclock as much as possible
3D at 766mhz
2D at 620mhz
EMC at 900mhz
CPU at 1500mhz
yet I don't see any difference on any benchmark except my phone is hot as hell =)
Is it possible those values don't stack?
I am not getting any reboot or lag or anything. Stable as rock.
Thank you for your answers

What is your CPU variant and how much did you UV?
Sent from my One X using xda premium
I have variant 2 using 1500MHz @ 1100mV.
Hm, what was the original value? I can't check right now...
Sent from my One X using xda premium
1237mV stock.
Try a milder UV.
Even -100mV is considered heavy UV so you should stick with values not much higher than that.
