If I were to Design & Build an HTC Phone. - Windows Phone 7 General

If I were to Design & Build an HTC Phone, I would start with something like this.
1. Tilting Gorilla Glass Screen Size of 4.5" to 5" with Invisiable Shield Installed
2. Switchable Capacitive & Resisitive Screen
3. 2GHZ QuadCore CPU
4. 2GB RAM & 2GB ROM
5. 1GB GPU
6. 128GB NAND
7. HDMI
8. Mini USB with Dual Directional Support
9. NFC (Near Field Communication)
10. Dual WiMax & LTE Support
11. 5GHZ WiFi Support
12. Front 8MP Camera
13. Rear 16MP Camera
14. QuadBand World Phone
15. 2000MAH LiPo Standard Battery
16. Optional 4000MAH LiPo Extended Battery
17. Removable Micro SDHC Card up to 32GB
18. Removable Micro SDXA Card up to 2TB Supported
19. Optional Pico Projector with either Mini USB or HDMI Support from phone
20. SRS Surround Sound
21. Dual Microphone's for Noise Cancelation
22. Speaker Phone Exactly like HTC Touch Pro2
23. Loud Ear Piece
24. Bluetooth 3.0
25. Full QWERTY Keyboard
26. Full Carbon Fiber Built Body

very funny

That'd be nice and $5000.00.

Thats only $2000 with a 2 year contract
I don't agree with a 5" display, over 4" is getting into tablet range. The list seems to have forgot
27. DLNA support
28. FM radio
29. HDTV OTA tuner
30. 1920 X 1080 or 1280 X 720 display res (1080p/720p)
As long as we are dreaming here....

If it would cost $5,000.00 for full retail, then just wait for it to be sold on Amazon. It will then be priced at $0.01 on contract. The same contract as everyone else has on their smart phone's.

battery
how about a 3200mah battery that is the entire back of the phone, maybe 3/16" thick ?
the dual core processors are not needed.
the 30mb/s connectivity is not needed
the 1080p isn't needed
or dual cameras
dust proof, waterproof, and vibration proof. good cellular antenaes, with ports for externals. ruggedized caseswith a good drop rating. standby rating of a week.
unlocked, unbranded, uninhibited
id pay $300_400 for that. might even sell my g2 (for profit)

might as well add automatic toilet paper dispenser.
What ever happened to the idea of a projector phone? I wouldnt mind having a 3.7" screen again if it could project its picture on the wall in high quality.

Ok I see you also invented some new technology to be packed in a body to fit in pocket... nice, how about a car or a yacht that can be sized down to pocketsize next year ?

For the specs of the phones today, people a few years ago would say the same thing, but they are reality now. This would be a phone for the not too distant future. There are Quad Core Mobile CPU's that are being designed and in the R&D stage right now. There are phones that have close to some of the features. The Mini USB exists, but is not right now Dual Directional, YET. There is Gorilla Glass that's coming to market. Bluetooth 3.0, HDMI, QuadBand, Capacitive, Resistive, 8MP Camera, WiMax, LTE, Micro SDHC, NAND Flash, NFC, WiFi, Pico Projector, and more all exist right now. What's to say that these can't and won't ALL be combined in a phone in the near future.

Do your research. These things either do exist or will in the near future. All the info is out there for EVERYONE to read up on. Not just me. So read before you just bash and think that it could NEVER happen.

Remember that the NGP (PSP2) will be sporting a quad core chip by years end, so don't be surprised if we get close to the OP specs in a few years time. Mobile technology has really accelerated ever since the Cortex ARM family arrived in '08. The only thing holding the smartphones up is the battery life. We need a new type of battery that can power a smartphone for at least a few of days of HEAVY useage on one charge.

why do you need gorilla glass and invisishield, that is overkill. Gorilla glass will crack before it scratches.
This phone would weigh about 5lbs.

what you listed there, is not a phone anymore. its a netbook with phone-functionality.
why the hell do you need 5"? Lets look how it will fit in your pocket.
Switchable resistive / capacitive screen? why on earth would you need that in times of finger-optimized apps?
and the most funniest thing is the 16mpx camera (pictures dont become better just because of a higher amount of pixels).
I wouldnt even buy that "phone" if I would have the money
but the dual-microphone and srs-surround are nice features for sure.

The battery is a 3050mAh and the rom is expendable to 32gb
It's a TCL Meme Da 3S (TCL M3G 3S) clone since TCL and Umi seem to be working together now
Very interesting phone for $150US
I might order one, except that it's only available in white for now. What do you think?

UMI Emax Mini battery is about 3050mAh.
Oy, this thread died already?
I'm having trouble finding an official section for this phone. I'm SUPER tempted to buy this thing, but I don't want to get stuck on an old OS - need to know that there is development on it... at least to get us to Marshmallow (Android 6).
Where I can get stock firmware for this phone?
Anyone that is interested, the phone will be on sale for just 75$ in about an hour: http://dealsnow.info/2015/10/14/umi-emax-mini-for-just-75/

It's a bit odd that this model doesn't support band 20 LTE (800MHz).
I have read some methods to unlock it, however nobody confirm that it works

Theoretically you can enable any bands on the software side, but it won't work because of hardware limitations.
today is arrived!
Unboxing & Review Received from Coolicool :
Review Umi EMax Mini (Sorry for the translation, i've used Google)
Package, Content, Aesthetics:
The pack is now a classic for the latest products Umi, a square box of a generous size with treatment embossed silver; on the back there is a label with the model and IMEI numbers.
Box contents: Smartphone with pre-applied protective film screen, 1 AC outlet with USB 5V 1A White Italian and 1 USB Cable TV; no headphone is extra protective films.
- External dimensions of the smartphone to be a very compact 5 "; it measures 139.9 x 69.8 x 8.5mm for a little more than 130g weight.
- Construction of good quality, the materials return a good feeling to the touch, the metallic finish of the side frame and processing cover embellish smartphone.
- On the left side we find keys, and the right side we find the volume rocker on the top and the power button slightly lower.
- At the top we are the only audio jack; on the underside there is the Micro USB socket and the speakek (only in the right part, since the symmetrical opening on the left has no speaker inside).
- In the back at the top center we are the 13 megapixel camera from Sony / Samsung f / 2.2, slightly below the flash with dual led to even lower the microphone.
- In the front we find the earpiece at the top, the camera 8Mpixel f / 2.2 and light sensors / proximity.
- The soft touch buttons are three and except the center button circular, the sides are backlit.
- Cover removable; the presence of a knurled machining, allows to obtain very good grip.
- Outer pane with pre-applied film from the house; the glass does not seem to work rounded perimeter.
- Display brightness and good viewing angles; Full HD IPS LCD screen with colors well played, good sharpness for the category, and white balance after all good and very deep black.
- Touch-sensitive and comes with multitouch 5 touches, writing quickly and accurately with both function that Swype typing with two fingers (keyboard used google)
- Two sim slots: Two Micro Sim 4G (with dynamic selection software).
- Presence slot MicroSD up to 64Gb (tested).
- Battery is not removable from 3050mAh declared, to the test with amperomento we found about 2950mAh, which can cover the busy day with no problem.
- Android 5.0.2 without any customization (if we omit icons) and launcher Onetouch (that of TCL M3G 3S).
- Opening apps and switching between apps is not without some small hitch browser .. stock fairly accessible but suggest that Chrome while consuming a lot of ram speeds up navigation.
- Excellent management 16Gb of internal ROM that are available in a 11GB partition for apps and data.
- Good management 2Gb ram by Android 5.0.2 .. more than 930Mb of ram vacated after loading some apps into memory at startup.
Connectivity:
WiFi b / g with no problem hooking stable, good power (presence of dual band).
BT 4 tested pairing with headsets, car and other smartphones without problems
OTG: Properly functioning
GPS: good, the outside has fixato cold in 20 seconds, 12 satellites, with an accuracy of a few meters; GLONASS compatibility and Baidu
Camera:
- Main camera 13Mpixel f / 2.2 that produces good shots in daylight; fast focusing and saving shots; camera interface very well-structured and comprehensive; the flash of good power allows some shots in most light conditions poor. Even without using the flash, the use of high ISO (up to about 1500iso) still allows you to take extreme emergency after all decent.
- Good performance video
- Secondary camera for Selfie 8Mpixel with face detection function, shots and discrete video
.
Bench:
Antutu 5.7.1 more than 30000 punti..risultato in line with that of other 615 CPU Snapdragon 1.5Ghz.
Geekbench 3 with 2260 points in multi-core test and 647 in the single-core test.
https://browser.primatelabs.com/user/ 3909297
Geekbench Battery Test (over 5 hours and 30 'screen on time, a little low for a 3050mAh but enough for at least 4 hours of screen on the busy day of work with active data traffic.
https://browser.primatelabs.com/battery3/ 138925
Audio:
Good sound quality, good volumes of speaker and earpiece, the other party has no problem and feel the item is free from noise and interference or metallic effect.
Position of the speaker in the lower apt, although the presence of the second speaker for the stereo effect would have appreciated !.
Good vibe and the sound with headphones.
Conclusion:
PRO:
- Price of 130 € for a terminal with characteristics of medium range 2Gb RAM / 16GB ROM and 5 "FullHD that if proposed by a brand known, would have cost twice as much.
- Full HD screen that shows good brightness, color and viewing angle of the display (bright colors and deep black)
- Good assembly, the materials used, the distribution of weight (130g) and the grip that gives the cover with knurled processing.
- Good reception and good also the audio
- Dual SIM (two slots micro sim) and MicroSD card support (tested support up to 64Gb)
- Android 5.0.2 practically stock of 10 September 2015
- Main camera from 13Mpixel f / 2.2 with good quality if good light and holds well even high ISO.
- Battery 3050mAh from that in spite the snapdragon 615 and the Full HD screen will take you to end the day in an easy way.
- Double tap to wake
- GPS with Glonass + Baidu and presence magnetometer (compass) and Gyroscope
- OTG supported
- Led Notification and keys backlit soft touch side
- Total identical to TCL M3G 3S, then Accessories / cover compatible those of the latter
AGAINST:
- SD card can not be set as memory for the installation of APP (photos and videos can be stored instead on sd)
- Android 5.0.2 with some problems of fluidity of the interface and some acclaimed as the memory leak.
- Presence of Chinese app One Cleaner "cleaning system" that makes the device slowed; simply best to remove it from the app.
- 4G with these bands 1,3,7 (then is absent the band 20 to 800Mhz essential especially with the wind).
- Some uncertainty in the fluidity of the interface and too general, which improves putting in developer mode animations 0.5xe GPU rendering and with the help of alternative launcher like Nova.
- Unfortunately not practicable root trying different tools; Umi had accustomed us to the root of the factory and so in this case we were wrong

This is the comparison video between Cubot X16 and Umi Emax Mini:
(Italian language Comments)
can you share also this comparison?
The band-problem (800MHz) of the UMI Emax is still not fixed?? Sad, I hoped they would fix it...
Megthebest - great review, thanks for that! But two questions:
1. You wrote, it's not possible to install apps on SD-Card - isn't it pre rooted, so you can use Link2SD for that procedure?
2. Did you test RootJoy? Because UMI said with RootJoy you can install the newest CM on the UMI Emax Mini.
800mhz band is not fixed yet.
Stock rom comes without root, and you may have to install twrp (chinese/english) and try if with sulersu you can work with link2sd and ext partition on sd.
I have not tested rootjoy yet, i will check today

Design
Leagoo Shark 1 comes with olycarbonate plastic and aluminum alloy on the side and back of the device. It has three various colors, twilight blue, starlight silver and champagne gold. So it has provided you with the nice choices for men and women. It sports by 6inch 2.5D FHD Corning Gorilla Glass screen, and the dimensions of this phone are 158.6×82.8×8.5 mm. Because of large battery, the overall weight has 240.9 grams. But that’s ok for me.
What’s more, you can see the front camera, light sensor, the speaker, LED notification light on the front side above the display.
There are 3.5mm Headphone jack and IR port on the top of the smartphone for TVs, home appliances, etc.On the back side of the phone, there are fingerprint sensor and 13MP camera with dual LED flash. In the center of the back, there is a Leagoo logo and, below the removable cover, there is a speaker grill.
The power button and volume up and down buttons are placed on the right side of the phone. You can see there is a micro card slot, and the micro USB port is located in the bottom right side.
Made by LG, display on this phone breaks the 5.7″ boundary, featuring 6″. Manufactured in LTPS technology, this 6-inch full HD “monster” will provide 30% more brightness than a standard LCD and, it will reduce power consumption by 20%.
By the way, 6 inch FHD Corning Gorilla screen provides you with nice viewing angles and superb contrast. You can use your smartphone freely during sunlight and moonlight.
In conclusion, Leagoo shark 1 has a great design in terms of its appearance. So i believe 6inch smartphone will meet your nice needs.
Hardware
Leagoo Shark 1 is equipped with Mediatek’s 64bit Octa core processor and 1.3Ghz main frequency. It is also built in RAM 3GB ROM 16GB internal storage. Of course it can be expanded to 64GB via a micro SD card.
as a flaw, but when you need more room, you can always expand it with additional 64GB via micro SD card.
Therefore, you can enjoy the latest 3D games, movies, tv plays, etc. And here is the antutu benchmark screenshot result.
Hope it will be helpful for you to know more about this Leagoo shark 1.
You can see there is 31406 Antutu scores. It can beat most Xiaomi Smartphone. There is no problem to play the 3D games, watch tv without limits and stopping.
Camera
Leagoo Shark 1 has Sony 13MP BSI-2 sensor camera for the back camera, and 5MP camera for the selfies, or front camera. Of course, you can do the HD video calls by the front camera.
The front 5MP camera can offer five lenses and large f2.0 aperture.
Here are the details about the images as example you can see. And you can feel that the dual camera have taken the nice pictures clearly and crisply with the help of dual-tone LED flash. images look natural when shot in the dark and you don’t get those too bright photos. Front facing camera is very good as well.
Here are the pictures as examples:
Operating System
Leagoo Shark 1 runs Android5.1 Lollipop OS which has a flat interface which looks very professional. Of course, you can download the latest apps or games in the google play store. And it didn’t support OTA updated to Android6.0 Marshmellow OS.
Connectivity
Leagoo Shark 1 has dual SIM card, dual standby support which can let you enjoy 4G, 3G network freely. It can also support bluebooth 4.0 port. You can transfer the data with others.
Shark 1 has dual SIM, dual standby support which is excellent because many people have a personal SIM card and the other one for work. The device is 4G LTE network supported, and it has good signal strength. What’s more, it can support hotspot to share the data with others. But there is a flaw that it doesn’t support NFC function.
Battery
Leagoo shark 1 supports 6,300mAh battery. And the smartphone can last at least 72 hours for general using and you can watch online videos for 25 hours straight and listen to music over 49 hours.
It is simply amazing, and it is not even the best part of it. The best part would be its rapid charge LGQC v3.0 technology. It charges the phone in 3 hours (considering its massive battery, this is quite a feat) and you can use the device for a day after you charged it for only an hour.
Other features:
Leagoo Shark 1 supports various sensor like gravity, motion sensor, GPS, compass, GLONASS, Galileo, and Beidou, etc. So it’s very useful for you to make the position. You will never lost yourself in the strange place.
Leagoo shark 1 also has a fingerprint sensor, and it supports to unlock in 0.39 seconds which is very responsive and quite useful. it’s manageable.Shark 1 uses AWINiC K6 amplifier and offers pleasant and loud sound over the earphones and speaker.
In conclusion
Leagoo Shark 1 has nice design, large 6,300mAh battery, good quality, fingerprint ID, 64bit 4G LTE processor. But others think it’s too large in terms of the display, and it doesn’t support NFC, 4k video, therefore, in your opinion, Leagoo Shark 1 will your nice or first choice? Which aspect do you like best?
It looks like a bigger Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which is a good thing imho. Hopefully battery life will be great with those 6300mAh.
I'm really glad that the manufactures are starting to realize that we need bigger batteries! Looking forward for this device though

In fact, I think the same thing
here are the real pictures of Leagoo Shark 1:
Doesn't look too big/thick, at least in the photos..
They should add wcdma-1900 to work in America, I would buy it cause I like it.
sweet...

Mod Edit by @Darth : Selling site promoting video removed. Spam not welcome here thanks!
and i have also prepared TWRP 3.0.0.0 for Shark.. in few hours it will be avalable on needrom!
i'm only disappointed on shark fingerprint feature.. .after a Factory Reset fingerprint app goes in Force Close . .and no luck flashing firmware again or other things (only old rom december fix, but that rom was worst and buggy (camera, flash, lags, setting menus..)
I hope for a software update to fix!
Which one is better between Shark 1 and Oukitel K10000? I love to get one
Thanks for your advice. I will go for Oukitel K10000. Does Oukitel K10000 has freezing or hanging issue?

If battery life is the most important thing to you, then get the K10000. It also has a very bright display. I've seen somewhere that Leagoo Shark 1 scores around 10-11 hours in PCMark Battery test while K10000 scores 29 hours. You can find reviews for both the devices at devicespecifications.com

Is Oukitel K10000 free from freezing or hanging ROM ? How smooth or fast is its ROM ? Most China made phones are plagued with freezing or hanging issue.
Dual stand by with MicroSD
Can I use 2 SIM cards with memory card together on Leagoo shark or there is same "problem" like on Oukitel K10000?
Can you please share the wallpapers found in this device? thanks.

Hang on FumiJ, i'm confused. In your 'real pictures' of the Leagoo shark, the bezel/border is waaaaay thicker than in any other photos i've seen, or the photos posted in this initial thread. It looks like a completely different phone. I can't get a straight answer out of leagoo about what the phone actually looks like. Are you sure these photos are of the same phone/version?

Hi,
I also bought one, But mine has a little bit trouble with focusing while taking a picture.
It is working fine while shooting a video, but whenever i try to take a picture, most of the time the picture gets a focusing issue (resulting in too much or too less light).
Did you encounter similair problems?

The decision for me was a no brainer....NONE OF THEM.
Yup, they didn't include the Notification LED.

Four water-proof phones you'll want right now
Lots of people tells you electronics and water cannot mix. If you work outdoors, tired of being afraid of having something spilt on your precious phone; or you just want to Tweet while you shower. Whatever the reason, an IP67/IP68 rating smartphone should be at the top of your shopping list. The following are 4 waterproof smartphones I would recommend.
iPhone7/7 Plus
Although iPhone7/7 Plus almost looks like the same as iPhone6s/6s Plus except for adding two new colors and redesigning back antenna, there are still some new impressing features. Aside from iPhone 7 Plus coming with dual rear cameras for the first time, what appeals to me is that iPhone7/7 Plus finally come with IP67 rating water and dust resistant which allow for briefly dunking in the water. Besides, iPhone7/7 Plus come with the most powerful specs especially the A10 processor that is almost twice as fast as iPhone6s/6s Plus. It is safe to say iPhone7/7 Plus is one the best smartphones in the world. When you are looking for a smartphone with water and dust resistance, taking iPhone7/7 Plus into account is reasonable.
Galaxy S7 Edge
Samsung made Galaxy S5 feature IP67 2 years ago, and now Galaxy S7 Edge is also IP68 dust and water proof (30 minutes in water over 1.5 m deep). As the best android smartphone after Galaxy note 7 suffered its disastrous failure, not only is Galaxy S7 Edge equipped with high-end specs but also has the gorgeous appearance with the edge to edge AMOLED display and a metal body, but also the performance of its cameras is very likely to be the best of all the smartphones including iPhone7/7 Plus. Galaxy S7 Edge definitely deserves being considered by everyone who is into Android phones.
Sony Xperia XZ
Sony Xperia XZ as the latest addition to their flagship X family features the general rectangular slab-like design, with glass up front, an all metal back plate, and of course, an IP68 rating for resistance to dust and water. In terms of specs, Xperia XZ comes with a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32 GB or 64 GB of on-board storage, 23 MP rear and 5 MP front cameras, bears 2,900*mAh battery which is good enough for a full day of use. This device is priced at $699 which is in the same price range as Galaxy Note 7, I would say the price is a bit high, but if you want a high-end smartphone with IP68 rating and you don’t like Galaxy S7 Edge, then you can’t ignore Sony Xperia XZ.
Nomu S20
After introducing 3 high-end flagships, now I am going to recommend a budget rugged phone named Nomu S20 which comes with a 5-inch HD display, 8MP rear and 5MP front cameras. Under the hood, this phone comes with MediaTek quad-core 4G LTE processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of ROM and is packed with 3000*mA battery along with a fast charging feature. Nomu S20 has IP68 rating just like Galaxy S7 Edge, but unlike those three above, Nomu S20 is a professional rugged phone. It is able to survive a drop from 1.5 meter height, which those high-end flagships are too fragile to survive. Also, -20℃ to 55℃ working temperature range allows you to use it in most of the places you can imagine. You can feel free to use this handset without worrying in the most unexpected conditions. What’s more, $169.99 price point make it the most affordable waterproof smartphone. If you do not have hundreds of dollar to spend, maybe Nomu S20 is a good choice for you.

Nomu S20/Xperia XZ/Galaxy S7/iPhone 7 comparison:
http://www.devicespecifications.com/en/comparison/e71d9cf7c
The Nomu S10 and S30 both have 5000mAh batteries.
You forgot the Cat S60 with the FLIR camera....FLIR camera, now how cool is that!
It also is a true IP68, it can go down to 15 Ft for 30 minutes, that is a true IP68 rating, not this 3 feet for 30 min that Nonu and Samsung have.....iPhone and Xperia only take a splash, not a dunk, the'e IP67.
http://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/75203bc3
If you do anything outdoors that relies on GPS, with the screen ON, and listening to music, the bigger the battery the better....for me.
My criteria:
5.5" / 720p / Backlit keys / Notification LED / 4000mAh min / Quad 64bit 2000MHz min OR Octo 64bit 1500MHz min / 2GB RAM DDR3 min / 16GB ROM min / 64GB SDHC/XC / IP68 / Mil STD-810G OR Ruggedized / GPS / Gyro/ Compass / Proximity / Accelerometer / SIM2 3G / Lollipop or lower, I want R00T capability.
Its not that far of a dream the phone I want, the Nomu S30 had it all and then they left out the Notification LED....A phone with some amazing specs and NO Notification LED.....WTF.....
http://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/b0e73f1b
I will give up 4G, or backlit keys....I won't compramise on the Notification LED.
Well, you mentioned your innermost need of the notification led twice already. I do not need it but please follow your ideal phone.
Please also give us a ballpark price range of the CAT phone when you have a chance. What is it? Like FOUR times the Nomu's price?

3X The $$ and 4X the phone. 15 feet deep for ½ Hour!
> FLIR camera .... Fun stuff! I can think of all sorts of places to use it and annoy my girlfriend at the same time.
> MIL-STD-810G
What's annoying about the CAT S60, and prevented me doing the purchase is ...
#1) Battery, Nomu/3800mAh - CAT/3000mAh
#2) Smaller screen, Nomu/5"(on screen keys) - CAT/4.7"
CAT S60 is a solid, robust phone that is weak in the battery department and a step back for me as I have a 5" phone and want to go to a 5.5" phone.
The Nomu S30 was almost perfect, then they missed the Notification LED, what a letdown......
Kinda like, meeting the perfect girl, then she opens her mouth and sounds like Fran Drescher.
so much talking about nice phones from Nomu but you claim to have bought HT20 with the smallest screen. just for Notification light.
HT20 claims 3850 battery and you admit yourself it below 3000.
Moreover Ht20 has serious mic problems and hence waterproof problems if one uses Homtom cure for mic..
BTW you are mistaken Nomu S20 does not have 3800 battery . it is 3000 mAh.
Personally I do not like LED light at night. I do not care for NL. I like t check myself than be bothered by the light

Poptel P9000 Max Review
Looking great. I like it because of 9000mAH battery capacity, 5.5" FHD screen, and 4 LED light for torch. I hope you will be add the review soon.
i want to see the quality of rear camera.
I ordered this from GearBest, and it's currently in the process of being shipped to Canada. If you guys have any questions, let me know. When it arrives, I can answer them for you. I will also post my impressions later.
This phone claims to be a "tough" & "rugged" phone. And I will put that to the test in real life situations. I work out all week in the gym, and my phone routinely falls or gets exposed to water.
My last phone was the "Leagoo Elite 1". Here were my problems with my Leagoo (and what I will be looking for improvement for, in the Poptel):
I routinely listen to streaming music, watch, & download videos on my phone. After 6 hours in the gym, with this media usage, my Leagoo battery drops to 5% to 10% battery. The Poptel P9000 claims to have a long-lasting battery...so I will be excited to see excited to see if it can survive my heavy daily usage.
Apparently, both the "Poptel P9000" and my "Leagoo Elite 1" utilize "Gorilla Glass 3". This claims to be strong. But my Leagoo suffered a crack on the left side from a short accidental drop on hard surface. Through that crack, the screen messed up due to small water exposure. So right off the bat, I am a little skeptical about the P9000 glass material.
My "Leagoo Elite 1" had terrible OS glitches. If you held the home button long to bring up the task manager, the entire OS would crash. This was never fixed in the two years I had the phone. Then an even worse problem was that the Leagoo camera or background service installed a program every anti-virus flagged as a trojan. This happened after the first year after one of their updates. It was very difficult to disable, and while installed it created many performance & internet issues. Speaking of updates, there hasn't been a single one in the last year for my "Leagoo Elite 1". So I will see how much Poptel supports their phone. But I am not so confident, because I looked at their FaceBook page, and it seems PopTel is already releasing a new phone...so I am worried they may stop supporting the P9000.
Poptel P9000 Max Quick Review
I am writing the review just after receiving the Poptel P9000 Max Orange version.
It’s available in three colors: Green, Orange, and Black. Let’s start, what I got in the box?
Unboxing
The Poptel P9000 max comes with a lot of accessories. The box is containing the phone, User Manual, Warranty Certificate, USB Type-C cable, OTG Type-C cable (Also for Reverse Charge), 9V/2A Quick Charger and screen protector. The earphone is here in the box too.
Design
Starting from the design, good use of rubber and plastic to protect the phone from shock and drop. The device feels really solid, probably one of the best-rugged phones in the price category, and overall the build quality is decent. Being a rugged phone, it isn't possible to expect the most compact device. Due to the huge battery and body cover with multiple layers of rubber, I feel it cumbersome and bulky (16.80 x 8.30 x 1.70 cm / 6.61 x 3.27 x 0.67 inches approximately for weight 320g); although heavy it seems to be balanced in handling.
On the front side, Poptel adopts 5.5-inch FHD 1920 x 1080p resolution, the glass uses Corning 3rd generation gorilla. The upper front side of the device features a Front-Facing Camera, an Earpiece, and the Sensors hole that includes Light and Proximity Sensors. As regards the lower front side, there isn't anything at all except a nice-looking Poptel logo, primary microphone, and type-c port. On-screen keys are used here.
The upper back side of the device features a big camera sensor and 4 high LED lights. On the right side of the LED lights, there is a little hole that seems to be for the secondary microphone. The fingerprint sensor located just below the LED lights. On the lower back side, there isn't anything at all except a stereo speaker grills and some words about the device protection certification.
On the right side of the phone, there is Volume up and down buttons. Another button located on the right side is for direct open the torch or use it as a camera shutter.
On the left side of the phone, there is one button for On/Off the device and card slot.
There is an audio port located on the top of the phone.
On the bottom of the phone, there is USB-Type C port.
Screen:
The Poptel P9000 Max adopts 5.5-inch FHD 1920 x 1080p resolution, As regards the screen, it is just perfect. It’s Bright enough for a decent outdoor usage. I found it pretty good, with excellent color accuracy and an overall nice viewing experience.
Camera:
An outdoor phone needs to be a great camera. Thanks, Poptel for not adding the fake dual camera. Its equipped with a 13MP camera, the manufacturer of the camera not mentioned. The autofocus works quickly, on-screen shutter button and physical button both work very quick. The pictures are usually sharp, the colors look natural and the contrasts are also great. Even in Low light, the Poptel can still deliver great images. It has a 5MP Front camera for a selfie.
Very good in daylight / good light, but in low light, you can't get the result.
Hardware:
It’s powered by MTK6750V octa-core processor; it can run at the rate of 1.5 GHz. With the support of the 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM, and a Mali T860 GPU, the processor can perform every task smoothly. That’s mean you can watch HD videos and play heavy games without any problem.
Battery:
As we know that, outdoor phone need to have a big battery with quick charger and it is a vital part of the rugged phone. Poptel p9000 max has 9000mAH battery with 9V/2A charger.
Software:
Poptel chooses to use a pure Android OS for this device. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with May 2018 security patches and no bloatware pre-installed. The OS feels smooth.

Where are the SIM cards located and what size are they? What is/are the best US major carriers that support the phone? I have Red Pocket right now, paid like $220 for 365 days of service (5 GB data unlimited text/calls) using a Moto G5+. The P9000 would be to replace this phone. The card slot on the side is for a microSD card? - if so what is the max capacity it can handle? I went to the product page and these question are not answered there.
Thanx in advance!
Manual?
Anyone have a link to an owner/user manual, preferably in English. Scary part to me about this phone is support. Nor sold yet but I am really wanting this phone.

I disagree with this evaluation.
Your samples look pretty dark & rich. As if there's too much contrast.
There was another recent YouTube review - which compared pictures from the "Poptel P9000" & the "Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro" (at 5:00 in the video):
https://youtu.be/kT1J3kTDHto?t=298
As you can see from this comparison, it's the same problem.
The Xiaomi's photos are more brighter and cleaner looking - while Poptel's colors look overly rich & dark.
More importantly...human skin looks much better on Xiaomi's camera - whereas Poptel's camera makes human's look ugly & pimply!

This is a great selling point! :good:
Coming from Xiaomi (with its custom OS that conflicts with many apps) & Leagoo (which installed a widely flagged TROJAN via their camera "beauty" app)...the fact that Poptel is providing a normal Android installation & no bloatware is much appreciated!

Right after I ordered this phone two weeks ago, Poptel announced that they are releasing a newer model called the "P10":
https://twitter.com/poptel_global/with_replies
This is so unfair. I bought the P9000 thinking it was new...and they would at least support/upgrade it for one or two years.
Then all of a sudden, they release this new model.
What especially bothers me is that the "P9000" has Android 7...and they're saying the upcoming "P10" model will have Android 8.1.
To me, this sounds like they'll never update the P9000! :crying:

Stay Tuned for the News of P9000 Max updates.
hi
im looking forward for the
1. root & recovery ...
2. the suitable audio like viper & dolby atmos
3. the original rom link
thanks for sharing
some info about the fact
http://bollywoodvivs.com/unlock-bootloader-poptel-p9000-max/
seems too bad support around !
found that the device compass not show correctly the right direction eg west/east !!
how to solve this ?
What is the status on rooting this phone? The bootloader is definitely unlockable (I just unlocked mine) but before I try anything else I wanted to check on experience with root.
Guys, I am having a crazy experience with this phone. :crying:
So a few days ago, this phone was delivered.
And now I discover the audio jack is defective :crying:.
When I asked them for help on FaceBook, they gave me a strange response.
So I own "Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro".
I bought this from Amazon, and it works in ALL devices I ever tried (laptops, phones, PS4, etc.).
But the support guy from Poptel told me it wouldn't work in their phone because "P9000 MAX can only match the headphone of 18MM pin".
I never heard of such a thing, so I asked for more information in a follow-up.
They responded: "3.5mm jack is ok, but the length shoud be 18mm".
I listen to music all day, and love Xiaomi headphones. And they tell me it doesn't work with their phones.
Okay, I thought, let me just use their stock headphones.
Then today...even their stock headphones stop working!
It's clearly a defective hardware issue. Something is wrong with their audio port.
So now is the big test. I asked them for help tonight.
If you are curious about Poptel's customer service...stay tuned.
I will let you know how they respond...hopefully, they have good customer service. :good:

Hey guys! Great news! I contacted Poptel via FaceBook.
I showed them video proof of my technical problem. They gave me no trouble.
We explored many options such as complete phone replacement or partial refund.
I chose partial refund (which was no small amount), based on typical cost for audio-port repair in my area.
This is because school was starting, and I had desperate need for a phone.
Poptel sent my Paypal account the exact amount discussed. I am now able to take my phone to a local repair shop for possible solution.
I have spent a few weeks with this phone, and set it up with lots of different media & workout apps.
I've used it for jogging and weight-lifting.
I've dropped it accidentally on hard tiles and carpet.
It lives up to its durable claims.
Later on, I will post some pictures of a great armband I found that works with this phone. It's especially useful if you use this phone outdoors & during physical activities like jogging.
The only issues I ever had was with apps. But those were app developer issues, unrelated to anything the manufacturer controls. One of the best things about this phone is the Android stock OS. This means you never have to worry that some strange OS issue is interfering with your apps. All my app problems were solved quickly after contacting developers & applying Play Store updates.
If anyone has any specific questions, let me know.
I'm a big expert in this phone now, and I can try to answer them in more detail.
But keep in mind, for me, this is more of a media device. I don't use this for phone calls.
So I can tell you more about performance & playback.

The good
Solid build quality.
IPS display.
USB-C port.
Low price.
The bad
The touchscreen isn’t the most responsive.
Do small Android tablets still have a place in the world? They’re not the trend they once were, and even Samsung — the one company making 7-inch tablets that sell in quantity — has stopped releasing smaller Android slates. The budget-friendly Galaxy Tab A, and the premium Galaxy Tab S6 released in 2019 are both 10.5-inch models. For other companies such as Huawei and Xiaomi, 8-inch is the new threshold for small tablets. It is not hard to see why, as 6.5-inch smartphones are becoming a norm, who still needs a 7-inch tablet?
But Alldocube, a Chinese company known for making budget slates, still has faith in the smallest form of Android tablets. They recently released a super-cheap 7-inch tablet called the iPlay 7T, which comes with a Unisoc SC9832E processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 4G and phone functions, Android 9 Pie, AI and a price tag of just $69.99. Who is this tablet marketing towards? Are the specs enough for day-to-day use? Let’s find out in this review.

Design and Build
As can be expected, the iPlay 7T has a plastic chassis, which doesn’t feel premium. Since it is matte black, the tablet doesn’t look too cheap, either. With relatively small bezels on the left and right sides of the 7-inch display, the screen-to-body ratio of this device is actually quite decent, and you can easily hold it in one hand.
There are a VGA front-facing camera, an earpiece, and multiple sensors sitting above the display.
The power/standby key and the volume rocker are hosted on the right side. Both buttons have decent travel and rebound quickly.
The top side plays host to a USB-C port. I was actually expecting a cheaper Micro USB port on such a budget device, so a Type-C port here is really a pleasant surprise. Well done, Alldocube!
Opening the lid on the back side, you can find a microSD card slot and two SIM card slots.
You can also find a 2MP camera on the rear side of the slate.
Finding a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom side of the slate is another nice surprise for me.
The tablet measures 190*98*9.9mm and weighs 224g. The build quality is decent, as the 7T feels quite robust in the hand. There’re no ugly mold lines on the matte black plastic shell, either.
Screen
The 7T sports a 7-inch IPS display at the resolution of 1280*720. With a pixel density of 210 PPI, the screen is not particularly sharp, but it is still not easy to pick out individual pixels in everyday use. The colors are not the most accurate, as light colors tend to look a bit paler than we would have liked, but they are still way better than the colors on an average TN panel. The screen also offers decent brightness and amazing viewing angle, outdoor visibility is also good.
Being 7-inch, the iPlay 7T’s display is still significantly larger than the Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s 6.39-inch screen, although it carries far fewer pixels.
The 16:9 aspect ratio is ideal for watching videos, as most online clips can fill up the whole screen, without leaving black bars. But the 720P screen resolution means you won’t be able to take full advantage of 1080P and 4K videos offered by YouTube or similar platforms.
The touchscreen is not the most responsive. Although every touch still registers, it just doesn’t feel so smooth as the screens on our flagship smartphones.
Audio
The built-in back-firing speaker of the 7T can get very loud. But the sound lacks texture and details, the treble tends to sound extremely harsh at the highest volume. Whenever I am listening to music or watching some serious videos, I need to have the Jabra Elite 65e wireless headphones in my ears.
Software
The iPlay 7T runs stock Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Preinstalled apps have been kept to the minimum, but you still get a full suite of Google apps, including the must-have Gmail, Play Store, YouTube, Maps, etc.
The tablet also supports OTA upgrade, which is ideal if you hate learning how to flash the firmware.
Performance
The 7T rocks a Unisoc SC9832E processor, which has a quad core CPU (4 Cortex-A53) running at 1.4Hz and Mali-T820MP1 GPU, and uses the 28nm HPC+ process. There’s also 2GB RAM on board to take care of multi-tasking and 16GB internal storage for apps and files. Meizu also uses the same internals for their C9 smartphone, a model that gained a lot of popularity in the Indian market.
As expected, the slate is no benchmark king, as it only scored 63857 in Antutu V7.
The eMMc storage isn’t very fast, either. In the Androbench test, the sequential read and write speeds are respectively 93.51MB/s and 32.84MB/S.
In the real-life use, the tablet is smooth if you don’t stress it too much. We didn’t experience frequent hiccups or delays when watching videos in the YouTube app, liking posts on Facebook and Instagram. But loading too many webpages in Chrome at the same time, or having too many big apps running in the background will result in stutters, delays and slower responses.
The device is also capable of running less demanding 3D games installed from Play Store at acceptable frame rates, but it is clearly not designed for intense gaming, as the less sensitive touchscreen and relatively weak GPU won’t really guarantee you a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Connectivity
The 7T supports 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz WiFi, so it won’t pick up 5GHz Wi-Fi hotspots. Wireless connection is generally stable, though. The device also supports 4G mobile networks and full phone functionalities, you can even hold it to your face to make phone calls, thanks to the built-in earpiece. There are also Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS on board whenever you need them.
Cameras
Both cameras on the 7T are sub-par in specs when compared to the lens found on modern budget smartphones. And it’s highly unlikely the slate will ever be someone’s primary camera. The main 2MP camera is capable of scanning QR codes, but the pictures it takes won’t be used as Instagram material, unless you don’t really care about what people think about your page. The front VGA camera can be useful for video-chatting when there’s no phone or laptop within your reach, but you won’t ever want to use it for selfies.
Battery Life
The slate only packs a 2800mAh cell, but still manages to give me around 5 hours of screen time on a full charge, thanks to the lower-resolution display and the less powerful CPU. Foraverage users like myself, it is a two-day tablet. But for intense media consumers, charging the slate on a daily basis is inevitable.
Verdict
There’s not a lot to like about the Alldocube iPlay 7T, it is an entry-level tablet with the most basic specs. But there’s not much to dislike about it, either. At $69.99, this slate offers as much as it could within the budget. It is a nice substitute for media consumption when we want to give our smartphones a rest, the 4G and full phone functionalities will also come in handy in the time of need. However, in a world where almost all phones pack 6-inch plus displays and fast charging, there’s not much room left for a 7-inch tablet, even one with full phone functionalities to fit in.

Good Review, Sir.
I interesting with this iplay 7t, I wonder what it's sensors ? Could you please screen shoot for it's sensors ?
Does it has hotspot mode ?
Which is the Android version? I mean: is it 32 or 64bit? I plan to use it with DJI Fly App and this app works only on 64bits hardware and OS.
Did you try GPS precision and speed?
How much does it take to fix after booting up the tablet?
I am in search of a not too expensive tablet for my car, at the moment I'm using an old nexus 7 2013 but it takes minutes to fix after boot and it's not precise.
thank you.
