Hi everybody,
I would very much appreciate your advice about my situation with my phone : I have bought a desire in France, and it is branded by orange (my provider). I would like to unbrand it (I imagine you can all understand that), but I had much difficulties doing that. I even see that, in your tutorials for branded phones, it is specified that phones with 1.22 roms can't be unbranded using this method. I tried though, and I think this was a mistake. So, I have basically 2 questions
1- How should I do to remove Orange frome my phone ?
2- I have installed a UK rom using the unbranding tutorial with gold card et al. (RUU_Bravo_H3G_UK_1.22.771.1_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.0 6.00.02_2_release_127568_signed.exe). But, I think the fact that I am not a respectful citizen of the United Kingdoms leads to great mishaps, and now my phone won't connect to any data connection (I still have GSM functions though). Do you know if/how I can manage to connect my phone to internet with this rom ?
Ok, I have an answer for question 2 : it was only a matter of APN settings. Now, do you think there is a problem using this UK rom for a french phone ?

My Desire was bought from O2, so has it's firmware.
I'm moving abroad next month, will I still get an update to 2.2 ?
I won't be using O2.. will that stop me ?
Would I be better flashing it with a generic rom ?
Thanks

It's about choice...
Why you need flashing? if you Desire daily usage for Phone, SMS, Chat and Check Email and little bit Browse the net.. I think wait until official release for Desire much better than Rooted/Flashing your phone
Thanks for the reply.
I'd prefer not to flash or root it if I can help it.
The question really is will a UK O2 Desire automatically upgrade to 2.2 if used in New Zealand, with Vodafone ?
Thanks
Probably not. My understanding is that receiving updates is dependent on your current version. I'm on Meteor in Ireland, for example, but I won't receive any specific Meteor updates, because I have the generic HTC firmware.
So if you're on a kiwi network, with the O2 software, you'll get neither the HTC update nor any update your new network rolls out.
So either debrand now and get the HTC update whenever it's released, or wait until it comes out and flash the 2.2 rom directly.
One other thing you could do is take it to Vodafone in New Zealand and ask them to flash their own software on it. Since you're a new customer, they'll most likely oblige.
But that's if they even stock the Desire, btw. If they don't you'll have to do it yourself.
One thing to keep in mind re:carrier specific firmwares is that it may take an awfully long time for upgrades to trickle down. You could be looking at an additional month or more between HTC releasing it and your carrier releasing it.
And even when they do, they might disable certain features (wi-fi tethering, for example, isn't too popular with mobile operators)
Thanks
that is what I'd thought..
I suppose the only other thing would be if O2 released it for download, then I could manually install it !!
Are there still issues with wifi and the generic rom ?
Yeah, that's another way. Bookmark this link:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bravo/
The only issues were with people who people who debranded their phone and flashed to the generic rom. But for anybody else, there's no issues whatsoever.
Thanks
If I change the ROM is there any risk ? I'm not bothered about root, but would like to have the option of 2.2 when I'm not in the UK.
can you point me to a firmware flashing guide ?
Thanks again.
Well this is the latest (generic) rom update:

Very easy to install. Just download the .exe to your PC, and open it while your phone is plugged in. The installer will walk you through.
I don't know if it's that simple for branded phones though. You might have to debrand first... I honestly couldn't say. You might ask in that thread and list your FW number. Maybe somebody else will know.
You're sure it's a branded phone, yes? There's no .405 in the version number?
My firmware is : 1.20.207.3 CL171460 release-keys
I'll ask in the other forum.
Thanks
Hi all
I'm new, and i'm glad to be a member of this great forum!
I've lot of confusion about the sim unlocking on my HTC Tattoo branded Orange.fr to my Wind SIM (italian)
After a series of research on google, i've understand that i've two options:
- The first one is buy a sim unlocker in a shop like Dealextreme
- The second one is root the Tattoo and install a ROM that doesn't have sim locking
But... i've some questions:
1. Have I well understand what i've to do?
2. It's better to have some crapy chinese unlocking stuff or doing some tricky hacking software procedure?
3. Wich ROM do u suggest me?
3.1 Is true that if i flash other roms i lose the radio and the camera?
3.2 Is it better use a rom based on android 1.6 or android 2.x? Why?
Thanks in advance for your help
matteios
Nobody can help me?
Tnx
Hi there
The debranded firmware on the Tattoo doesn't solve the unlocking issue.
We have one in store that is still waiting for a solution. To root/debrand is the same as the Hero, but the sim unlock code still doesn't get accepted after flashing. That's as far as i've got with it!
Unless something has occurred recently that i've missed that's all i can help with for now!
SU
Now i've unlocked it by using the IMEI code, but even now can't i install a costum ROM on my HTC Tattoo?
Hello
Ok so ive put update-oxygen-2.0-RC7-signed.zip back onto my mobile but now i remember why i removed it..it lacks many of the features i need i.e the original favourites contact widget.
Also which is even more disturbing is that when I went to phone my brother it kept on asking me which default sip client i wanted to use and didnt give me the option to use the standard Vodafone GSM network?
Where can I get the original Android HTC Desire UK ROM from? or better still does anyone know the best ROM for business usage or practicality usage?
Depends if you have a branded handset, what network you on?
Latest unbranded (2.29.405.5) RUU is here:

Latest Vodafone UK (2.33.161.2) RUU is here:
http://www.multiupload.com/K0FR1OK301
just flash leedoird's rom
The problem with not been able to phone people was resolved by un-installing CSipSimple SIP client. I am going to stick with the Oxygen ROM think it would be bit of a crime to go back to Android 2.2 now!
hi,

kernel; 2.6.35.10-g4a4b278
build 2.16.0.0
andriod revolution hd 4 f*cking 0 :d btw: perfect rom i like it
Hi, don't apologise for your English, its perfectly understandable!
What frequencies does this Base use, are you sure the DHD supports them?
I remember a week or so back someone had the same issue with the Base network. I don't think that was resolved either.
hi,
base uses this band :E-GSM and DCS-1800
width(mhz) : 2 x 5 and for dhs-1800 :2 x 22
channel : 25 " " " " ; 110
i think desire hd is compatible with that frequencies stuff.
why have i grps network but no normal signals?
There is something to do with imei block or something?
I would try speaking to Base see if they offer support for DHD, if they do offer official support that would suggest it should work on their network, is Base in the APN list for ARHD?
i don't know exactly
i have been spoke with them. they says you must do a unlock for the phone
but i have already done, very f*king strange.
where you exacty can see for the arhd?
i think the best solution is: i gonna sell them, and buy a regular/no branded phone.
i worked 2 weeks with that phone.
erase everythink start again, again again. factory reset etc..
but sometimes i have network when i do restart iets gone again.
damn

Sounds like an issue with ARHD to me, if you can see a network sometimes very strange, have you tried a different ROM? possibly just a rooted stock i.e one of the raidroid roms
Hi, I have a htc desire hd that lately my phone to acknowledge the problems of my sim operator TIM, I state that I have already tried other sim another operator WIND is working or even tried with another sim TIM is the problem persists. I have also tried to install the original rom but the problem persists. Aspect of your response.
PS. Knowing me how I can re-establish s-on, so if I send in the warranty?
Hi, I see that English may not be your native language.
In future you can post in your own language, providing you give us a rough translation (eg. Google Translate). As XDA is multi-national someone who speaks your language may be able to help you more.
From what I can gather your handset works when using a WIND SIM Card, but not a TIM SIM Card? And that your handset is rooted and you wish to go back to a warranty repair state?
In the development section there is a thread with HTC Desire HD RUU's --> FIND THAT HERE
You may find that the RUU does not match what you had previously, in that instance find any that has a x.xx.405.x firmware number, they are generic World Wide English (WWE) versions.
Also, please post [Q]'s in the dedicated Q&A thread.
