[Q] are there any seriou differences in HD roms? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

after tryin every hd rom cept cool hd ive noticed there no reaal difference other then kernels and maybe afew removed features. is there anything significantly different im not seeing?

No, there's only so much you can do with a ROM...this is why I make my own
Same with all ROMs tbh

How can you not notice a difference?
The new version of Sense is stunning. That was the seller for me.
Been using an Hd Rom for a while now, but its really starting to slow down.
I'm considering going gingerbread

That's quite a transition tbh, going from Sense 2.0 to a non sense ROM.

Can we expect wildfire s Rom on our wildfire?

With the release of HTC new smart phones including the wildfire s, I was wondering if the new wildfire s Rom could be ported to our wildfire. Both models doesn't have much difference in hardware apart from a slightly faster processor and a gpu, its roughly the same.. with a same screen size though different resolution. The Rom that comes with is 2.3 and has some extra features for instance Facebook face tagging which I saw on the wildfire s first look video posted by HTC on YouTube. So I'm just wondering can we expect this latest Rom on our wildfire?

i dont think htc will release 2.3 on wildfire considering 2.2 took so long and didnt even have almost any improvements due to lack of hardware.

I think the original poster is asking whether anyone here on XDA will be able to port the Wildfire S ROM over to our original Wildfires...in my opinion it is probably possible but we will have to wait and see as no one has the Wildfire S yet
Yeah but it won't be long before its released. Since it was possible to port the DHD Rom to desire so maybe its possible for wildfire s Rom to wildfire too.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I am not counting on it to be honest, because, the Wildfire S is a totally different phone compared to the Wildfire. It is now much more of an Aria / Gratia.
Desire HD is pretty similar to Desire, with the same screen resolution, almost same CPU (Just a mildly upgraded one), same GPU, and, only increased screen size, internal memory and RAM.
However, obviously, if the WF S ROM is ported to WF, it will be a great thing, it is just that I am not crossing my fingers (yet)
Not really, the differences in screen resolutions roils imply terrible amounts of resizing with little to no benefits for the old wildfire, except 2.3 that is.

is there a way to port the new sense ui to the original wildfire, coz i like that ui..

No. Because it is not designed for QVGA. Also, for Sense to be "ported", HTC must release the code AFAIK.
Porting the Wildfire S ROM is like porting the Aria ROM to Wildfire.
It's almost impossible.
No one knows whether it is impossible yet as no one has the wildfire s... it could be possible despite the resolution difference... probably not but we will have to wait and see

Just download and take a look. I can't extract system.img/boot.img.
Here is a better system dump of the wildfire s rom which someone confirmed in evolution 4g forum
http://www.morninglion.com/tp2martin/Marvel_Dump.zip
Can the dumps be modified to fit the wildfire? Maybe not the entire Rom but features of the Rom itself?

[Q] Sense vs. HD Sense ROM's

So ive just been going through all the ROM's i have used and trying to find a good reason to use standard Sense e.g LeeDroid, AuraxTSense etc... over an HD ROM like iNsertCoin or Reflex?
I just want to know features ive missed that arnt included in HD ROM's etc not a "I like that one better" thread
Thanks !
DHD roms are just as fast and bugfree as regular roms, so I don't see any reasons for running a regular one
DHD roms use a bit more resources to run but you get a little more with them than you do on regular sense. Just wish with sense you could tweak it like not running certain apps on startup. That sort of thing.

Lol sound just like me yesterday. It all depends. In using core droid right now. Still trying to get it sand understand sense. But I'd try that one. The Dev is always around to help. You could also try sense less Romeo or the other one. I may give those a try. Stock look and feel but sense widgets and stuff
Edit= full 3.0 is unity I think
Sent from my G2 coredroid
Is recommend starting with virtuous froyo 1.0.x. reason being the build has been around for long enough and the devs are very dedicated to fixing every single little bug reported.
You can go with one of the more recent and I'd argue more experimental roms based on gingerbread but there are at least a few minor issues that you gotta deal with which might lead you to think that there are fundmental build quality problems with Sense; there isn't.
Happy sensing!

Looking for new rom

Hi
I am new to rooting to my phone and would like to know if any roms that supports traditional Chinese and Korean?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I guess that the MIUI ROMS support that...considering they are made by devs who are originated in china and all.
You can find the version for our phone in their site here
Hope it helps.
Edit: I don't know if it supports korean. Also MIUI is fairly heavy on the phone. If I find myself some time and no-one has already replied, I might be able to look it up.
Thanks for the reply, is there a leedroid Rom for the HTC Desire Z?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I'm not aware of Leedroid for Desire Z. However, if you do not require a chinese UI, only the ability to read and write Chinese, then any ROM will have this ability.
For input you may need to supplement it with the likes of multilang keyboard for chinese input, if you choose to go with a non-sense RoM. Many sense ROMs will have the HTC chinese input method intact.
If you are a Mandarin speaker I'd suggest Google PinYin method anyways since its one of the best, and supports both tradition and simplified chinese.
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
MIUI has been made by japanese third-party devs. also i like RCMIX3D 4.0 ROM. and i thought that it also supports chinese and japanese.android 2.3.5 sense 3.5 download: http://uploading.com/files/7c69c9c7/RCMix3D_v4.0.zip/
I am in favor of the MIUI..great interface, stable and great performance.
Just regarding about overclocking the processor, would some of the time include the application to do this? I don't really need the Chinese input. I would maybe go and try out a few different roms as I have just downgraded to 2.2 and rooted the phone.

You might try Andromadus if you're looking for bleeding edge. So far, its the smoothest and most capable ice cream sandwich build available. You can find it under the desire z/g2 rom development section, and I'll edit this post to include a link later. Or if you prefer a more stable, established rom try CyanogenMod 7.1 from CyanogenMod.com. both will support Chinese among other default languages, and are both far more capable than the stock sense rom and both include OC as well. Hope this helps..

Hi all,
I'm back and would like your input on good roms. I have been using Virtuous Quattro RC3 for sometime but I just don't like how the graphical glitches make me have to reboot my phone several times a day. I would like to use an ics rom.

I would HIGHLY recommend Ice Cold Sandwich, the homescreen is actually smooth and seems to be running at 60 FPS. It also has HEAPS of tweaks because it's based on AOKP. Give it a shot if you really want ICS.
Well, if u know chinese, u can go to the bbs.gfan.com to have to look at their rom. Although most of them are originally from xda, they may give u some different experience. U should check it out

Unless youre sold on the UI of ICS id give one of the Sense 4 roms a spin (taz's for example) theyre actually stupidly stable and smooth!

I had enough of HTC Sense. I will not go back to it. It slow and buggy. I tried sense 4. Still slow. Not as fast stock android.

I would definitely try the MIUI roms. They're great!
I think Sense 4.0 is a disappointment. Tried it on my Desire Z and it's not what I expected. The stock Android is much faster and better.
The MIUI ROM's absolutely don't work for me... Found them very laggy, but it does have some great functionalities.
I just use JIBwich, a stock Android ROM as it is on the Galaxy Nexus.

I would very strongly recomend the ILWT CM7 build (available under the development section). You will never want to move away. Atleast that has been the case with me, after trying sense and miui, I found home with this one.
Its fast, issue free, pretty optimized (although got further optimization you can use v6, akmo or rmp) and is pretty frequently updated (generally on every major CM build).
Been using it for almost a few months and can't even think of moving, not to any ICS either (personally, don't like the virtual keys always on screen on the ICS).
Hope it helps - cheers!

I flashed to that rom. I really miss how the the suggestions for the keyboard in ics. Im glad to back on a fully functional on-screen keyboard that doesn't lag. I was using the unofficial cyanogen mod 9. It had issues here and there. I kind of miss ics for its looks.

[Q] Any Desensed Roms for Desire

Hi,
Are there any desensed Roms for the Desire?
Now im using cm, but sense roms have the original drivers and things like camera work better.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
leedroid. search for it.
I know leedroid, it isnt desensed.
Desensed means, it is base on a sense rom, bit almost anything of sense is replaced by aosp apps.

you mean the froyo rom, i knowed only the gb. Thank you
Are there any gingerbreads? Some gb-sensr have a very good camera too.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
That concept was a fail. There was only one version without Sense which had annoying issues which could've been avoided.
This prerequisite is silly IMHO. Why would you change apps for aosp ones as Sense apps are at least two or three leagues ahead?
