hi i have been playing with a cuple of custom roms and i cant seem to find one i like im looking for a rom that is fast stable and good on battery any ideas thank you
I'm still new to all this but all my research leads me to this conclusion: install the latest stable release from Cyanogen and all your troubles will be over.
You have been EVOfied.
I would try mikifroyo. All those things and more.
OMFGB is an awesome Rom I've been running a few days. Everything works but 4g and the dev is great. Smooth, fast and Gingerbread!

Sense: Calkulins EViO http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745205
Gingerbread: CM7 nightlies (or wait for stable version to come out) http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=supersonic

Just a quick question. I've been out of the loop for a while and I'm wondering what is the most stable/ best aosp rom/ kernel combination out there at the moment? Thanks for your help.

There are a few GB ROM's running around, but I don't know that I'd say the majority are.
It all depends on what you want, if you still want to have HTC Sense stuff then Lou's ROM's are great, if you want a Desire-Z based ROM then Myn's Warm 2.2 is pretty good, and then if you want an AOSP (mostly GB now) then you can't go wrong with the CM7 nightlies.
They are lightning fast now with Slayher's .37 kernel he released yesterday.
My suggestion would be to nandroid and flash away, if you don't like it, you can always restore it back to the original!

Sweet. Thanks for the info. I've had CM6 on my phone since the stable release and haven't been active on the forums since then. Appreciate the feedback.

Warn two point two isn't a Z rom, its an Evo/Inc hybrid. Just thought I'd clear that up lol

There is a Z version.
Noob here (formerly a BB user).
Okay, so I have some basic questions re installing themes:
1) How do you install themes?
2) What are ROMs and how are they associated with themes?
3) What are the common issues with installing ROMs/themes?
Any suggestions/answers are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

There are thread that explain all this. I think they are titled "read this first, complete guide to flashing custom roms/themes"
On the OP question-Incredibly re-engineered is well worth a look as well as Magnolia. Both Roms have tremendous dev support.
Thanks!

Hi, Currently running Sense(less) rEVOlution 2.0 with Kernel #4, is there a better kernel for better battery life? I like this combo very much but I think the battery could be better
Also looking for a true senseless, AOSP gingerbread rom with gapps included, or at least flashable, any suggestions?
Thanks
Try lous #8....closest thing to whst ur talkin about would b skyraider athena, that and the other 5 gingerbread roms in development

If you haven't tried chad's incredikernel:
http://chad0989.dyndns.org/2.6.32.27-incredikernel-12232010-plus25v.zip
then I suggest you give it a go.
Use it without setCPU, at least at first. It has one built in so you really don't need one, if you find it too sluggish or you think you can set it better then put it on after you gave the whole Kernel a good run without it.
I find this Kernel very fast and the best for battery life that I've tried.

Not many of those. Really CM7 is the only one I've found worthy of flashing.
Try the RC1
(If you go with AOSP then you will need a different kernel than listed above)
Thanks guys for the replies.
I will try #8 tonight, also on chad's Kernels I have read the same and will be trying that one as well. I'm really liking Senseless 2.0 with Launcher pro Plus
Yeah I understand that with a sense rom you have to have a sense Kernel and with AOSP rom an AOSP kernel. Question though. IF i did decide to try and AOSP ROM, that AOSP rom should/would come with a new Kernel right? Just don't flash Lou's stuff/sense kernel after that.. only flash another AOSP Kernel. Is that right?
I have the Droidx so this Kernel stuff is new to me lol.. still learning.

You got it Most/all ROMs for the Inc come with a kernel included. I personally like the one CM7 RC1 comes with, gives me great battery life
Ziggy's 12111 beta
If I flash to incredikernel from Lou's #4 I just need to wide delvic cache correct?
I just flashed koni's elite II rom (which is awesome) and i want a really fast kernel that's compatible, any suggestions?
any sense kernel. try a few. when i was on sense, i either used netarchy's newest cfs version, or one of ziggy's beta kernels (www.ziggy471.com). i also like calkulin's modded htc 15 kernel. try cyanogenmod nightly 7 stock kernel is new and beast. or try savagezen on aosp.
Thanks man
no problem
I wouldn't have advised him to use and AOSP kernel on a Sense rom.

i didnt.
" try cyanogenmod nightly 7 stock kernel is new and beast. or try savagezen on aosp."
i'd say thats clear enough. you can mock me for being wrong when he flashes savagezen over myns (which would totally be worth the pictures of fail that people would post btw)
Main concern: I want an extremely stable rom, as close to stock as far as reliability.
That said, should I try out this gingerbread rom? Or is there another froyo rom I should try? I've already tried incrom (too many fc) and SR 3.5 (messed with reception) so I don't want to use those.

Not really. RC2 just dropped and its almost flawless. i would wait till tonight nightly comes out. they said its going to be worth it.
in the mean time i would back up your apps and contacts. make a nandroid and watch the cm7 nightly thread to know when it drops.

If you're looking to play around with something different that is still rock solid stable i'd check out MIUI. It'll keep you entertained, has lots of nice features and has been rock solid for me with invisiblek #28 kernel for months now.

Not yet, I actually went ahead and tried the Z roms because I love sense. Now just looking for a Z rom that is basically stock with sense 2.0
Am coming from Droid Eris and was rooted so I know the ropes a little. Question is does Z4 Root work still? If i use the 1.3apk will it root right? If not whats the best next easiest way? Also....once rooted do I use Rom Manager from the market to get "Recovery."
Was trying to find most fastest and easiest way to get root and recovery aka SU right? lol thnx guys
Someone didn't take the time to search for his own answer..
There is a search button around here and I recommend that you use it.
I did I see unrevoked V3 and Z4Root both have its problems. Was just trying to get a straight forward answer. Thats all....
No problems with unrevoked 3. It roots and s-off's. Just read directions literally takes 5 minutes.

Thnx bro just read up on it and how to load drivers and all for unrevoked. The ROMs that are available for the incredible do they come with whatever updated Kernel the devs bakes into them? Or its up to me to choose one? Also can you recommended a good ROM? Fast Stable and awesome battery life. I don't like the look of GB. But maybe ill like it on this phone compared to my Droid Eris Rooted running GB. Just the look of it turns me off
With sense based roms I've had good luck with re-engineered 2.3.2 and Chad's incredikernel. Im not sure about baked kernels being up to date which is the reason I flash a kernel after any rom flash. As far as stable fast and good battery I have since left sense roms which I stripped of sense anyway and went to cm7 with invisiblek kernel and have yet to look back.

Ima try your current setup. Where do I find the Kernel your using? Dumb question does the theme chooser in Protekk ROM have a purple theme?
NVM I found the thread lol How you like the kernel? Fast nd nice battery life?
The way I setup my phone any kernel would be equally as fast, but battery is better on invisiblekk. Make sure you download fast charge kernel. Never have any issues with anything with my setup. There are alot of options in cyan settings make sure you go through them.

Hey. I'm coming over from an eris when I get my inc on tuesday. I was browsing these threads and saw your question. I believe that it provides the ability to charge your phone faster then normal. Haven't had a chance to read up on how it does so yet. It is listed as included in some kernels such as here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=854390
and here

I found a thread linking all kernels here so you can look and see what will work best for you:
