I mysteriously get these unknowns in my contacts. I had this on ee and on bonsai. Having a thousand of these in my phonebook is a pain. Is There a fix.

Do you use google voice? Do you have other names in there? What is listed as details when you click one? ....
U can even click on your post and edit it to include some more details if you're looking for help.
If u wanna explore something, to to your contacts, hit menu, more, display options.
If u have all or most of your contacts saved to your gmail account (and not just to the "phone), you would also he able to go to google.com/contacts to so some contact list maintenance.

I have the same problem haha. Its a Google contact thing.
Shifted from my Evo using XDA app.
I found that editing my contacts through google on my PC corrected most of these for me. I also got a bunch because I had two identical Facebook profiles under my synced accounts. Pared it down to 1 google and 1 facebook account, and all was good.

Just wanted to check to see if there were any updates either through Froyo or developer to deleting multiple emails at once. It is soooo annoying to click one by one. Even when I delete them directly from hotmail on my computer and refresh my phone, they still stay there (on phone). Am I missing something?

Yes I too suffered this frustration but figured out how to do it last night. Go to your email client and then hit Tue menu button then select the delete option now just tap all the messAges that you want deleted Nd then hit delete and presto your all done works very well and fast. Go luck....
Pure genius...thanks
This has been bugging me for over a year. You sir, are a genius. Thanks!!
in the gmail app all you have to do is check the ones you dont want (the check box is directly to the left of the subjects in your and it will autmatically bring up option at the bottom to either archive, labels, or delete.

Hey! Don't know if you've tried this method yet but I'll post it anyway:
Transferring your contacts
The first step in this rather easy process would be to create a Gmail account if you don’t already have one. Why do you need to do this? Android requires -- note how we put that in bold italics -- a Google account in order to activate the phone. Once your new account is created add it to your device, then download Google Sync on your BlackBerry, which syncs your contacts and calendar into Gmail. The backup process can take some time, depending on the size of your phone book. But once you sync that new Gmail account to your Android phone, it will now pull all of your contacts, e-mail and calendar to the device. Rather simple, huh?
Did a quick Google search on this topic and got that info from here: http://www.androidcentral.com/jumping-blackberry-android-heres-what-you-need-know
Let us know if it helped!
The title says it all,
The gmail native app, when various accounts are set, does not allow switching accounts, in the "from" section.
I dont know what happen cos my last sgs with gb could do it with no issues.
any ideas?

Use the email app instead?

I just had a quick check and my GN has no problems allowing me to switch accounts in the "from" field when creating emails with gmail.
I have 3 accounts and they all show up when I click "from"

I know, but when i looked for it at the market couldnt find it either, i was thinking on just apk it but had no time yet.
Now I tried and still is not working, because I meant when trying to reply or forward email, not when composing.
Still my old Sgs could do without a problem. I still think it is a missing feature.
Am I right or wrong?
Want a nice High-Res pic for most, if not all your contacts?
Things you'll need:
CM9 Alpha0 or higher on your Samsung Epic4G.
Haxsync (99 cents on Android Market)
Patience to re-organize your contacts.
A facebook account to sync your friends and family.
NOTICE!! Some of your contacts may not sync, but that's due to their facebook name not matching your contacts saved name. This can be avoided by either: adding ALL Facebook friends, and joining every profile with the corresponding saved contact, or: allowing haxsync to match what it can, and manually saving a high res image of your family/friends yourself. The advantage of using Haxsync is that it not only gives you high res images, but also updates their FB status.
Steps are straightforward:
Go to google.com/contacts
Export your contacts to a google CSV file, make sure ALL contacts are selected!!!
Begin to Organize your contacts, I.e. (remove those one-time email addresses that auto-saved, outdated contact info, etc)
Once its clean, with only the contacts you care about, make another csv backup with a different name.
Purchase Haxsync from the Android market, and sync.
Enjoy High-Res goodness.
Profit.

Hello,
i've noticed this annoying fact on my NoteII.
I've tried on various roms but the problems remains.
I sync my photos with google+ and it's ok with the Galaxy Nexus. I see my local folders and 1 (ONE!), only one gallery called "Automatic backup"; plus other picasa gallery, all created on google+.
This is what i have with the samsung default gallery app
countless f*****g galleries ...not even in a logical order!

I've also installed AOSP gallery on my noteII. Works fine but, what's the problem with the stock gallery?
someone else?
thanks
Remove your google account, then add it again. After login, quickly go to your google account settings and disable picasa web albums sync.
Hope this help...
Simple solution go to settings application manager scroll to all select gallery and now clear data and disabled Le sync works like a charm.

uhmmm nope,
i don't want to stop using this service, i want to use it in the right way, like the AOSP gallery
no way?
It's not properly a "fix" but...i had to delete all my google+ images on posts and now i have only my albums and the folder for the automatic backup.
On Galaxy Nexus all the f+++ing galleries are grouped under a single folder. I'm not able to understand what's wrong with samsung gallery
