Hello, long time reader, first time poster. I'm using the stock Windows Mobile ROM on my Tilt 2. The network I am using is AT&T.
There has been some weird things that break without any reason on my phone. Internet broke earlier today, but I figured that out by creating my own connection to wap.cingular. (and not using the preconfigured Media Net connection).
Now, the only problem that I've had for a few months now that I haven't been able to resolve is this strange MMS error. I can receive MMS messages fine, but when I go to send an MMS message it will act like its sending for a few minutes, and then an error pops up saying "Wrong Structure"
I have tried a few different things, including resetting the messaging settings according to HTC's website
I tried it with Media Net and all my MMS just got a generic "message could not be sent. Saving to drafts" type error. Then, I changed it from Media Net to my created wap.cingular connection and I get the Wrong Structure message.
How do I fix this?
The easiest way would be to call AT&T and have them give you the proper connection settings. Have you tried that?

Hi,
First of all, I am terribly sorry if this has been answered previously by anyone. I have read through a ton of articles on different boards unsuccessfully trying to find the solution.
I am running the AX3L_WM6_WWE_v2.0.8.1 release on my trinity and after two days use I am very happy with it. However there is one problem that is getting on my nerves. MMS.
Whenever I want to send an MMS i get a warning saying:
"In order to send/download MM messages, the current active connection may be closed (this may affect other applications in use). Do you want to continue ?
This message keeps appearing and appearing untill I select menu -> yes.
The same thing happens whenevers someone tries to send me an MMS.
So I can both send and recieve, but this warning message is killing me..
In my MMS settings messages are set to automatically download.
I cant really understand the warning cause the phone automatically shifts between different connections when shifting from wap to tv-streamiing for instance.
So, does anyone know how to end this misery?
Kind Regards
Tommy
I can also add that the stupid warning keeps popping up whenever i open any messaging account (work, gmail, sms, mms) regardless if I have any MMS in the outbox or any inbound mms.
For example: I recieve an sms and click on the link to open up messaging to read it and perhaps reply, immediately I get the stupid MMS message.

change the setting to use the internet connection in your MMS I had that problem and it's great now..
Hope this help
Okay, I think I know what you mean, however it did not work, this is what i did:
MY ISP connection is a direct connection to the internet with an APN (internet.ventelo.no) and no password / user or any other setting, works great for web and every other program that requires the internet.
Under Connections - Advanced - Select Networks I have created an mms account with another apn (mms.ventelo.no) and added Ventelo's username and password for mms. This is the account that is linked to in the messaging settings.
I then went in to the messaging settings / servers and changed the "Connect Via" to "My ISP" (internet.ventelo.no) instead of using the mms account descrived above.
The result is that I cannot send or receive MMS anymore, and probably because the APN for internet-traffic and mms-traffic are different.
Any other suggestions ?
I use the same rom as you and I'm experiencing the same problem with that annoying mms pop-up...
I'm still investigating how to avoid that... For me it only happens when I connect to my PC through Activesync.
Have you discovered a solution yet?
Regards,
Rayan
Sorry to ask such a stupid question guys, but how the hell does this work???
MMS doesn't seem to be in the front screen of messages anymore, but when I select new the option for MMS is there, it lets me create a new MMS but will not send? I have the settings in the 'Connections' part of settings and they are correct (used to work for Orange many years ago) but what I can't seem to find is the MMS Server settings as MMS is not listed in 'Tools/Options'
What the hell am I missing?
Thanks in advance guys

By the way for anyone else who is still having issues with MMS all you have to do is install the cab and rerun the Connection setup on your pda that is localed in start/setting/connections and your all set
MMS on 6.1 not working, still.
MMS is still not functioning for me on my ATT 8525.
I am using FARIA.R-32 6.1 ROM (Dated 11/06/07), with Radio version 1.47.00.10 and Protocol: 32.80.7020.20H. I have repeatedly tried installing ArcSoft 4281 and 5.0.31.11. I have run through the connection settings, MMS settings and also even ran the Network Wizard.
Every time I try to receive msgs, I get a "Error Synchronizing" but they send no problem. I also called ATT earlier and had them ensure that the MMS was enabled for my phone. Any thoughts?
MMS works like a charm with CRC's Release 10 WM 6.1

What rom are you using, I think you should post this issue in that thread so you can get the proper help.
SPB may be harming your MMS state
Most likely you are using SPB's backup. That, when used will wipeout your MMS on a restore of your contacts. The best way around this is to hard reset your device, then reload your contacts using ActiveSync and Outlook. SPB can be used but not for your email, contacts, etc. unless you want to lose your MMS ability. A hard reset is done by the two - keys simultaneously and also holding in the power button from a powered off state.
Yes....probably.
Sure for me, with a restore with SPB restore...
But there is a way to set or restore the original registry value/settings?

Mine always does this IF I try to manually send/receive....MMS's should come to your phone automatically and u should not need to ever press that button.
thats been my experience anyway..

The reason for your specific issue i think is poutlook.lnk is missing from startup file. Don't know much about mms, just trying to suggest somthing to be helpful

I have more or less the same problem with my phone
I have a mobile phone with Windows 6.1 and no opccion to send or receive multimedia messages. did not have that opccion download from the internet an app from ArcSoft an now i have the oppcion but when i'm going to recive the message said the massage remain in the inbox there are get a message that was not possible to download the message
Hi all,
Been loving the Desire so far but this evening I got an mms from a friend, presumably showing me his own new Desire, and while the messaging app shows an unread message waiting it doesn't seem to want to download it.
The picture messaging settings seem accurate in the network settings so I'm at a loss as to what's up. This is all via T-Mobile, as per the subject, and everything configured itself when I put the sim in.
Any ideas?
I'm on t-mobile and receive and send mms mostly okay but there have been occasions where my mms wouldn't send at all. tried a different picture and it worked. I've had problems with mms and t-mobile on my iPhone before I got my Desire so I think it's a problem with t-mobile not the Desire?

You need to enable mms for you account, they are not included in the contract and thus you need to activate them online or by contacting them if it doesn't activate when you receive or send an mms.
All good suggestions, thanks.
I checked my account online and it's set to allow picture messages. I also just sent a picture to a friend, which arrived fine. I did notice that it disconnected from the net both before and after sending, so I'm thinking it's using different settings to send them.
Under Settings/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names it does actually show two connections. One called T-Mobile Internet and one called Picture Message.
They're both very similar, except the T-Mobile Internet has no username/password set and no MMS server details. Also the APN type is set to "default" and "mms" respectively. Wondering if I should try combining the two...
Fake Edit: I just asked the same friend to send me a message back and this time it worked. Guess I just need to keep trying every once in a while to see if it happens again.
T-Mobile accounts generally are enabled for MMS to begin with, but to finalise the settings and actually activate it, you have to SEND an MMS. This activates the service.
Once you have done that, you can then normally receive.
if you hadn't sent an MMS before this, that is probably why.
Yeah that could be it, too; although I'm sure I'd sent MMS messages on my Touch HD before (same SIM). Ah well, it seems to be working for now at least! Thanks again all.
If you're using Handcent for sms / mms, that might also cause your issues...
I searched the CM7 thread, but MMS and issue are such vague queries that I was unable to find anything pertaining to my issue.
I can receive MMS fine, but I cannot send at all. I choose the pic I want to send and hit send, and it just disappears. Doesn't show up in the thread of messages. Then when I back out of it, I see the last message I sent that person is (no subject) like it was my pic, but when I go into the thread it is not sent. But it shows up with the pic again like I never sent it. It saves it as a draft. Any time I hit send it does the same thing over and over. I can't even get the pic to delete from drafts. The only way is to delete the whole thread.
I have changed my number in the call settings to show with a +509251xxxx, no dashes or anything. Is there something else I am missing? I have tried several different CM7 builds and all have the same problem.
bump - really? Nothin guys?
Edit: reflashed CM7 and only restored apps+data, no system data and problem was resolved. I assumed since my system data was from a prior CM7 version that it would be no problem, apparently I was wrong. Thank me for all the help
I have the same issue. It doesn't disappear for me, but it just stays there wit the spinning circle thing. It never sends and after a couple of minutes, it says I cannot send the MMS.
Is there a solution without reflashing?
same problem.mine says mms is too large
I have the opposite issue. I've been completely unable to pin down the issue. I can MMS myself pictures and can MMS them to my email, but I cannot receive them. I used to receive them just fine, but now it's an issue.
I've confirmed that I can't receive them from iPhones, BlackBerries, and other Android phones.
I've checked my APN and know it works. I can access Mobile Data.
I've tried third party apps for messaging and that doesn't help.
I've spoofed as an iPhone, BlackBerry, and Custom (Blank) Agent without any results.
I've ensured my phone number in system settings doesn't have any symbols.
Anyone fix this issue?

Uhh, yeah that sucks: I have absolutely no idea, im on GingerVill 1.5 and it works fine, I also flashed sense, regular cm7, miui, and I never had a problem with it..
Try to download handscent or go sms and try that? I doubt that will work but give it a try!

I've got a similar issue -
Using CM7 7.0.3's Mms.apk my phone processes sms no problem, however it will not process mms - send or receive.
Go SMS Pro however will let me SEND picture messages - and Its going through my carrier because in an email to myself it was full of their crap - Sent to you from a Koodo Mobile Customer!
Unfortunately I cannot receive mms; Go SMS implies that it relies on the Mms.apk to forward notifications.
Considering that the Mms.apk isn't syncing with the mmsc properly, I'm assuming the problem lies there. I've even gone so far as to go to one of the phone kiosks and ask to play with their new Nexus S (*drool*) and ripped the apns off of it and uploaded their apn directly to my phone. Still, no dice.
Any suggestions anyone?
I've been having the same problems. Tried lots of things. I was also using Go SMS pro, and thought that was the issue. Tried fooling around with apn, user agent and MMS size etc... Nothing worked except the simple fix:
What I had to do to make it work was to have my mobile network on -- (which I almost always have off from the notification switches). Once it was turned on, it still didn't kick over because I was connected to wifi. So I had to manually disable wifi and then resend the message. It worked fine then.
So:
Turn off wifi
turn on mobile / 3g
resend message
Seems like a simple bug that's keeping the mobile network from kicking on.
When I get an MMS it does not download it (option to auto retrieve is set), instead the message is shown with a DOWNLOAD button, if I press this it says downloading but doesnt, sometimes the message will then show up minutes or hours later or not at all.
Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks!
edit: never mind, got confused due to multiple tabs, didn't read the thread title, didn't spot the Handcent bit.
lol No probs!
Still having this problem, can't send MMS's or receive them.
This is almost certainly due to your MMS settings. Check that they exactly match those for your service provider (menu -> settings -> wireless & networks -> mobile networks -> access point names).
I also thought this and had them resend the settings, in addition to that if they were wrong then I would never be able to send or receive MMS's.... Not just have a massive delay before/after sending/receiving!
Also this problem exists if I use the SE messaging app too not just Handcent.
From what I noticed this is due to the regular data-connection, as the regular data-connection needs to disconnect and the MMS connection going online to retreive the MMS.
I saw that at times the regular connection then tries to revert back since it went offline and thus killing the MMS transfer. If I connect to wifi the MMS will download instantly as the regular connection is down.
It's a shame that you cannot specify that MMS should be retreived over the normal data connection (yes I know a cost thing for many people).
I recall the X1 being able to set which connection to use for MMS, that was nice.
