So I wanted to start a thread for all the possible gmail skins out there, so I converted this thread!!!
Anyone with a custom Gmail app can post it here and if anyone has a How-To to mod our gmail skin please share!!!

And more importantly, is it possible to see the actual colours I give my "labels" on gmail? That is, each group has it's own colour on my pc, I would like the same thing on my phone...

Not that I know but that would be cool. Maybe one could make a flash zip like this colored Android Market zip...

Put it in system/app make a backup of your origional gmail apk and delete it prior or rename the origional apk to gmail.bak.

Could you post a screenshot? In the said Market app there is a problem with the text being white against a white background. Would be nice to know if there's the same issue with this one...

Hi guys. I was wondering if someone could answer this for me . The appearance of my Gmail app inbox has gone dark grey background with white txt and new mail comes in with a black background with white txt.
This is quite annoying as i don't remember changing any settings and i am finding it a bit off putting.
I can't for the life of me find how to change it back to the white background.
Can anybody point it out to me pls??

Dunno how it happened. It was white till yesterday. I have the latest version installed but the icon is even slightly different to my friends ones. I've got a closed envelope with 'M 'Im the middle whereas my friends have a 'M ' popping up out of the envelope. Strange. . . .

Have you played with any THEMES for your phone? Usually, some themes are coming with few themed applications ...
The themed applications are getting installed at once with the phone theme, w/o any warning or info.
If you did install a phone theme, look inside the zip file (the theme itself) under system/app ... if you see a gmail.apk there, then you just found out how you've ended with a black gmail app.
P.S.: I'm also interested in getting your themed gmail. apk file

I've tried a few different themes the last few days to honest . Have them all on my sd card. Just checked and the only one with a Gmail.apk is gingermix. Maybe this is where it came from .
I've changed since though and wiped cache and dalvik first??
If you guys explain how i can attach the Gmail.apk then no prob. Can i do it on my SGS?

I've ran some tests based on your input and YES, the gingermix theme is the culprit here ...
Please find attached the gingermix themed gmail apk and also the stock gmail. Both packages are installable via CWM.
I personally like more the gingermix themed one ... thanks for bringing this issue up
Its funny actually. Now that I've copped it i see bits of various themes all over my phone. . Lol.
I have generation x blue theme installed right now but also see these :

I've uploaded again the zips with the gmail.apk only .. it was something wrong with the update scripts earlier (I've edited the scripts with wordpad so it got screwed up).
If you like to play with the themes, you will have to use a deodexed rom in the forst place, then you can play with various png files inside the framework-res.apk file under /system/framework dorectory (this is quite dangerous if you're not really sure what you are doing IMO).
Personally I'm using the Generation X V2.0B with some elements from generationX V1.14 (wifi icons to be more exact), some personal touch-ups in the buttons for the AOSP unlock screen and puzzle unlock, modified taskbar ... and some various themed applications that are going really well with this theme
If anyone is interested I can share it. I'm not taking credit for anything .. these are just things found here, on this very forum
I would like that alright. Is that the standard looking wifi icon as opposed to the battle axe looking one in v2?

[THEME/MOD] LatinIME(keyboard) SystemUI, Mms, Contact & Calendar - Jelly Bean 4.1.1 -
These here are inverted, modded and tweaked apk's for ...Awesome...'s 4.1.1 Jelly Bean rom, I really like the inverted Mms and Contacts I use on ICS. So I decided to do the same for Jelly Bean. As well as some other work I will randomly add here, Hope you all like them.
EDIT!!!#1 Here is the Mms with left right conversation, rename it to just Mms.apk. And smaller DeskClock Widget 1x1, so it doesn't take up that much room.
EDIT!!!#2 Darkened the Contacts Widget and made the text gray. Thanks Ngo93 for pointing it out.
Mms Side Note: This has animated notification. Thanks to tgwaste, nbeebe24 (Contacts too), santacruzdz for their inspiring theming work.
EDIT!!!#3 SystemUI.apk. Added Menu button to NavBar, with blue android battery. BIG! Thanks to mistm for his work on hiding new buttons on lock screen.
SystemUI Side Note: I've made it so the little menu, the one with the 3 little vertical dots, won't show up. It's still there and works in some windows, just to the right of the big menu, but you won't see either the little dots or the button animation when you press it.
EDIT!!!#4 Fixed SystemUI NavBar while in Camera.
EDIT!!!#5 Fixed Mms Contact Search, now easier to see. Make sure to rename any and all Mms apk's to just Mms.apk. The G-Icons-Mms's stand for Green Icon, for those of you that prefer the green icon...
EDIT!!!#6 Calendar. Darkened the Calendar, tried to get it as close to RootzWiki's travp624 themed Calendar App.
Calendar Side Note: Menu: Calendars to display and Settings Windows are not inverted. This is because when I make those changes, the app stops working. This won't always be like this, just til Jelly Bean source comes out... hopefully.
EDIT!!!#7 Updated all apps to Jelly Bean 4.1.1. Changed Contact picture in Mms and Contacts. If you do not like the new contact picture, I have uploaded a zip of different contact pics for you to choose from. just drag n drop via zip or 7zip
EDIT!!!#8 Fixed Contacts background in landscape and lower lcd_density. And fixed Calendar background, no longer green.
EDIT!!!#9 Fixed Mms emoticon, heart wasn't showing up properly.
EDIT!!!#10 Post #148, BigBrother1984 pm'd me his SystemUI.apk which allows displays menu in landscape.

ADB Push these or use a Root Explorer to get them to your "/system/app".
Side Note: If you use a Root Explorer to move these over, your will have to reboot after to get the Icons back.

You can either adb push or move them over with a root explorer.
Either way they go in your "/system/app/" folder.

i pushed contacts.apk to system/apps and changed permissions using root explorer. But the contacts and the phone apps and icons have disappeared. I cleared cache+fixed permissions and the problem still persists. I re-installed Modaco JR1 Rom and still. I may have to nandroid restore.. any suggestions?

Grab your roms Contacts.apk from the rom zip and push that back... maybe that'll do it? Make sure the C is capitalized, case sensitive. I'll do some more testing with that apk to see if I can reproduce this problem.
EDIT!! The only way I could the icons to disappear, was when I used my Root Explorer to move them over to the system folder. But after I rebooted, they came back. Did you use a Explorer to move them or ADB?

I attached both the modaco Contacts.apk and phone.apk if you want to have a look on them..
I used root explorer, changed permissions and rebooted. But the icons didn't came back.. Weird

One thing we need is to change the ugly white Google search bar on top, it needs to be transparent, or at least much darker.
Wait. Is this mod plain vanilla inverted MMS? Because I see you have different colored dates (green, orange), so I was wondering if it's all white/black/ics blue?

I think the apks don't work on Modaco JB ROM for some reason. I had to revert to nandroid to have the contacts and phone apks back!

Sorry I don't know what else to do for ya, I installed the Modaco JB rom to see if I could do anything to fix this. But they all installed fine for me.

I don't think anyone has created any yet, I'm looking myself. The email app is supposed to be invertible through settings, but at least on my phone it doesn't work right. Only a small part of the email body at the top changes to either blue or black. Changing font color works fine however. You can change the font to white and see no text at all, lol.

I like the square message bubbles and the crisp clean look of windows phone 7's messaging. If there isn't one out there and you are looking to make one, It would be nice to have a black background, white or grey received bubbles, and like the ICS blue sent bubbles. Please and thank you for the help.

This is very nice only thing I found is when selecting the bubble colors the blue is white and the yellow is blue any way to change the icon to the stock icon. You should create a thread for this I've been looking for a stock themed mms. Pm me I have a buddy who themes as well who wants to start a team. Once I get my new laptop I will be able to as well.

I don't want to sound like a complete idiot, but it keeps downloading as a '.zip'. How to I make it'.apk'?
Or is it just a theme you flash to the stock apk? If so where can I find a stock version of the secmms.apk? I'm using the one from JellyBomb domination.
edit: Scratch that.. I just downloaded it straight to my phone with the QR and it worked.

Been trying for two days to install this app on cm10 8/1 build w no luck. I delete the stock messenger, move yours to system/app folder, fix permissions, reboot and when I try to install it gives me message app not installed.
Any suggestions please and pixs would be great before I attempt again. Will nandroid back in the meantime.

they are still white as i see or you mean without transparency or?
for apps icon like whatsapp ,facebook messenger ,viber system use apps icons which came with app they are in app,apk not in systemui.apk
and if you want change them than you have to change icons in apps ,apk for each app
but than you have problem with app signature
or you have solution to use some "white" CM theme which have all these icons already in it (i dont know which one because i never use white themes i hate white)

i had tried some other system ui and they were white and i tried to do this on my own systemui and couldnt find anything on how to do it
