Im running miui 1.21. I have the wifi tether app. When I turn it on, the miui tethering starts as well. Anyways, should my friend's droid eris be able to connect to my wifi? I was trying to show off the hot spot, but his phone just sees thehotspot, says "obtaining address" for a while, then just says "remembered", but never connects. I tried this with the wifi tether app and just the pre installed wifi hotspot on miui, both with the same results.

I went through this process last night Rooting part 1 2 the whole jazz:

Everything appeared to go well. I installed Fresh rom. However now when I setup my Phone for Sprint wifi hotspot everything is perfect, until I actually connect to the wireless connection. I am able to connect, but it keeps trying to identify, seems like it never receives an IP address and as a result although I am connected to Sprint Wifi Hotspot (confirmed on the device) the computer is never able to connect to the internet.
Strangely, the Wireless Tether app (free tethering) works fine. I would use this but it seems like it lag spikes more often than the Sprint app.
Appreciate any advice you might have!!! Really miss my internet! haha
I have an HTC EVO 4G running FreshEvo 4.1.1.0
The WiFi was working fine without a hitch until recently. It seems that since I upgraded to FreshEvo 4.1.1.0 and updated the radios with the patch, that this is when the problem started.
Now, the WiFi connection "locks up" intermittently and I have to reboot my TrendNet TEW-633GR router so that the phone will connect to it again at least for awhile.
The symptoms are: The WiFi connection with my home router will be fine for awhile. Then, it will not work.
I still get an IP address from the router and the WiFi settings says it's connected. But the connection doesn't work until I reboot the router. But the router isn't really the problem because other phones and my laptop can connect to the router even if the HTC cannot.
To the best as I can tell, the WiFi connection on the HTC locks up when:
A) I run the Roku Remote Control app and something unexpected happens like the app does a force close. The Roku Remote app uses Telnet, I believe.
B) I'm connected by WiFi at home, then leave and the phone switches to 3G. When I come back home, the WiFi between my phone and my router is locked up. However, if I connect to WiFi at another location, it works fine at the other location. Also, I can still connect to my home router with WiFi from my laptop or another phone.
Does anyone have this problem too, or a solution?
Thanks

I would have a go at flashing an alternative radio ROM onto the EVO first. This should be pretty simple if you've already changed ROMs and have a custom recovery.
so, my house internet keeps going out, xda has its search engines disabled right now and i dont have a high post count to go in the subforum i want. lmao.
i had both usb and wifi tether working before on myns rom, switched to synergy and it wont work. i get an error saying its not authenticated and use wifi hotspot. i go to wifi hotspot, turn it on and it wont grab an ip it seems like. anyone else have this issue?
I happily used wireless tethering on my rooted Desire, so figured it wouldn't be too different doing exactly the same with my new One X.
I originally tried to use the stock tethering option - new phone, new firmware. I wasn't surprised when it didn't work. So I waited until I had routed my phone to try the app I used on my Desire - Wireless Tether. It didn't work. So I tried WiFi Tether for Root Users (the update of Wireless Tether). And FoxFi. And ClockworkMod Tether. And WiFi HotSpot/WiFi Tether. And Barnacle Wifi Tether...
When I activate Wireless Tether (or WiFi Tether), it begins tethering "with errors, check log". I open the log and find it's failed: Setting ad-hoc mode, Setting essid, Setting channel and (if active) Activating encryption (iwconfig). The rest did not fail, but of course I can't see it in the network list due to the essid failing.
I can only assume the other apps encounter similar errors. FoxFi simply says "WiFi mode has failed on your phone. Please use Bluetooth mode instead.". When I try Bluetooth mode: "Fail to activate. Internet not detected.", although there is definite data up and down stream.
I'm connected to the 'EE' network, formerly Orange (they've changed names), though that didn't affect my Desire when I tried it last week, it still worked. I'm running Android Revolution HD 9.7.2. I've tried creating a new APN with the same settings, but that didn't change anything.

I tried the other day to wifi tether my hox and couldn't but my old legend could, which is weird. I did mange to get it working by turning auto connect off on laptop and manually inputting the key. I ended up using usb tether in the end though, but only due to phone needing charging
USB tethering doesn't connect either...
I have an Optimus G on Sprint with the following software versions:
Android 4.1.2, kernel 3.4.0, Build JZO54K, Software LS970ZVB
My previous phone was an HTC Evo 4G that was trouble-free with root and wifi tether used daily for two and a half years until it fell in a toilet.
This Optimus is rooted (all stock, just root) and the TrevE Mod version of WiFi tether is installed. The tether SSID is visible and it will connect and give an IP address but there is no internet connection. I have tried various settings of device profile, routing fix, mss clamping and driver reload, it simply doesn't work. The Wifi tether requires the phone to be restarted if it is stopped. I could live with that, but it is useless without internet connectivity.
Giving up on the WiFi tether, I tried the simplest USB tether that I am aware of, easytether. I have used easytether on other phones without any problems. On my Optimus G, easytether establishes a connection and internet works for a minute or two, then stops and my computer network icon gets the yellow triangle with "no internet access" message. This can be repeated over and over. Disconnect, reconnect, two minutes of internet, then stop.
This is very frustrating. I would absolutely love this phone if some form of tether would function.
If anyone has any suggestions or prior experience with this issue, your help is appreciated.

I read up on this issue a few times.. Here's what I gathered if you haven't found the solution yet...
Use WiFi Tether for Root Users
Device Profile: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
MMS Clamping: Check
Routing Fix: Check
Let me know if that works.. If not I can post the rest of my settings.
Good Luck!

Did the following:
Device Profile: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
MMS Clamping: Check
Routing Fix: Check
Still not working for me. Other rooted apps do work
Sprint Optimus G here
Try this profile it works
