Ok i installed the Stock HTC Hero 1.76.405.6 WWE but realized all apps setting and stuff are removed, stuff like my wifi keys and stuff (i got loads and cant remeber them all) so i reverted back to my original nandroid backup, but i did find my phone was alot quicker and smoother with the stock ROM is there any way of transfering all my SMS, bookmarks, WEP keys and customizations to the stock ROM?
Maybe with sprite backup beta? I've used this to back-up my SMS and Call history. There is also a setting for backing up system settings..
I have search the answer with no luck.
i'm always upgrading new roms version or different roms. From the changelog i can see that alot of tweak are done to roms in every new version for different purpose (stability, speed etc).
My question is, if i change roms (from bugless to fresh) or if i just upgrade roms version (from 1.0 to 2.0) using titanium back would it return the system to previous roms version, or it will only restore system setting, programs and datas (phones, sms, call history etc)?
thank you
As far as I know it just retains the system data for the app, leaving the ROM business alone. I've switched between ROMs and the only issue I had was that I had to put the widgets back on manually under ADW.Launcher. All of the widgets said 'Problem loading widget'.

Take a look at the guide in my sig. It should answer these questions.
Here's what I do: I setup the phone with all the settings that I like to use, then I backup with titanium backup, then I wipe and flash a rom, and restore with titanium backup. Usually the widgets don't come back due to some error or another, but I just delete and re-add them. Some apps also don't like TB and need to be reinstalled, but most of them work after doing a reboot after the restore of the apps.
This allows you to upgrade without the hassle of reinstalling and setting up all your options.
The backups are also located on the SD card in the Titanium Backup folder if you want to make a backup of the backup.
Same with Mybackup pro, just save apps then if you have root it will ask to use the additional features. Backup you data, home screens, bookmarks, etc then when you put on the new rom you can restore, widgets do not seem to restore on the screens properly but you only need to remove and replace on the screen.
My day to day rom is Shinzul's CM7 G. However, I wanted to have a Sense rom on hand that I can restore on occasion. I chose MikFroyo, which I liked a lot.
Before flashing MikFroyo I backed up my SMS, MMS and CALL LOG with MyBackupPro. I also backed up my apps with data (non system apps.) After, flashing MikFroyo and installing MyBackupPro I attempted to restore the SMS, MMS and CALL LOG. When I chose the restore option it said that I didn't not have a backup to restore to. No idea why it wasn't able to access it because I definitely did do a backup.
When I tried to restore my apps with data it seemed to go through ok. However, after trying to open a few apps I got FC. Namely a few of my games, such as Angry Birds and Flick Kick Football. I uninstalled these apps and then I just restored the APK w/o the data. The app restored just fine, however, I really wanted the data.
Trying to restore apps with data on Titanium had a similar problem. The programs would FC and I would only be able to restore the APK w/o the data. This really sucks! Is this a known issue when trying to restore apps + data when going from AOSP to Sense and vice versa?
Someone help, because if nothing else I need to be able to restore my MMS/SMS and my Angry Birds data!
Anyone have any input?
Im not sure, I use titanium pro and never had that issue. Did you go to the website and look at the trouble shooting section yet? Maybe its a bad backup.
That's the reason in a nutshell. You're not suppose to restore your data from AOSP to Sense, and vice versa. Try App only, and post your results after.
Hello all,
I installed MIUI rom on my galaxy S I900which seems to be working fine.
Prior to this I had made a full titanium backup of system data and apps
Now after resetting rights to TB, I would like to restore my contacts and messages.
As I set the folder location and go to backup/restore and contacts item, TB has well detected my backup with the correct date and time at which I made it.
The problem is TB displays a message data restored successfully but my contacts list is empty.
Same problem with messages.
Please help i really need this data back.
Thanks in advance
Wrong forum, mate
In general though, it's inadvisable to restore system apps or data with TiBu, especially going between TouchWiz/Sense and AOSP, which MIUI is.
System apps are generally dependent on framework proprietary to TW, and that framework isn't present on AOSP.
For contacts, migrate them all to google contacts, so you never have to worry again.
For messages, try SMS backup and restore (free in market)

Got another mind bongler with my first time flashing. I'm using titanium backup and since I'm gonna flash from stock note 2 with touchwiz to CM with vanilla android, am I supposed to backup all user apps + system data? I've read that if you restore touchwiz apps and Samsung closed network apks onto a phone without touch wiz or the stock rom it might mess your phone up or put it in a loop. So... 1)do I back up everything and then when I restore do I only select my user apps(apps ive downloaded) and system data(sms, contacts, etc)? Or do I restore everything on to my phone after I wiped and flashed? 2) are the red labeled apps the apps I'm supposed to not restore? Do I restore the white, green and yellow labled apps only? This is all on titanium backup premium edition! Thank you for the help!
NEVER RESTORE SYSTEM APPS. It will mess up your phone especially if it replaces important things like settings.apk or systemui. Just do your user apps and you should be fine but a lot of people nowadays say its just better to redownload everyting off the play store
Does Cyanogenmod come with no apps? Except for the basic system apps like phone dialer contacts camera etc. And your sure just user apps will be okay? What about my system data? Like messages emails, and call logs?

Ya it only has basic system apps then whatever they are bundling nowadays (focal, cm file manager ect) you need to flash a gaaps package to get the play store, youtube, gmail ect. User apps should be fine. Call logs and messages need to be backed up with a third party app. I think you can back up messages to a .xml in tibu. Email should auto back up and redownload when you sign in
Call logs and messages can be backed up with titanium, and restored. I do it all the time.

You can backup and restore your non-system apps, the ones downloaded from the Play Store for example, but you shouldn't restore the app data until you know what you are doing (some will work, some won't) - apk's only.
You definitely don't want to backup and restore system apps as mentioned above.
You can backup and restore text messages, phone log and such, but not settings etc.
Don't bother with calendar entries and contacts, they should be backed up and restored by Google
