[Request] WiFi Teather Infrastructure - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How hard would it be to get wifi tether to work with infrastructure on the epic? The sprint hotspot has it so we are capable.

Did you not read the OP? It is a WORK IN PROGRESS. Be patient lad.
That said, that is the ONLY thread dealing with a legit attempt at infrastructure wireless tether. Wireless Tether app on the market might come out with a version soon that will allow for infrastructure mode on the epic but currently it only offers that to HTC users and Droid X users. Keep an eye out for their updates.

Teh roxxorz has a great thread detailing everything you need. Basically a wireless tether app, and a bin file to go on SD. Sorry I can't get you a link not at the computer atm.

Root your device then install the Wireless Tether app.
thanks for the responses. I was trying to stay away from that app. It drains battery a lot faster than hacked hotspot.

Yes I imagine it does but then it is also using the wimax radio which inherently uses more power.

Usb
lol tethering? it depends.. personally im rooted with a custom rom that has tethering built in that just works.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Dont need root for usb tether.

If you want Wifi Tethering you don't need root either, try Foxfi.
Check with Sprint in order to make sure that you don't break your contract though. Obviously if it does break your contract, don't use it.
Foxfi does not work when updated to ics

That is exactly my problem as well. Foxfi was working fine until the stupid update to ICS. Anyone know any other ways to get free wifi from my phone now?

FK23 Wifi tether

Has anyone found a working tether app? I have tried 'wireless tether for root users', and Foxfi. Stock tether works but disables 4g when activated.

It works without portable wifi hot spot... 4g tethering however is BUSTED which makes staying on the rom impossible for me at the moment

Does the sprint native hot spot not work?

Which version did you run?WifiTether_TrevE_Mod_11_22_2012 (defaults to Wifi Driver Reload 1
or
WifiTether-TrevE_Mod_11_22_2012_driverReload2
And what if any other steps did you use to get it to work properly (stay connectec on 4g) on our device?

I used reload2. Netd connection. Disable sprint hot spot and connection manager. Generic ics/jb device as profile.. There were probably a couple others but I forget. Currently driving. If it doesn't work for you let me know and I'll get you the correct settings. I'm working on a post fi the general thread as well.

What is a good Wi-Fi tether app for stock rooted MB1?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Treve mod wifi tether is the only one that works for the S3, on stock anyway
AOSP roms usually have one built-in, but for the S3 all of them are based on Treves
