Is it possible to replace the HTC gallery on inc roms with the gallery from the Z-roms?
The newer (Z) gallery renders photos better when viewing. You have to zoom in a bit in the Inc gallery to get a sharp view otherwise it's a slightly blurry.
I tried pulling/installing the apk from 'Uber-Z' but it was no go.
I tried and the Z gallery on the stack ROM and it won't work.
I tried this one and it is great. It is the 3d gallery that comes with the G2 I think

I've used the one you mentioned and didn't care for it.
I also have this 3d gallery installed.
Just wondering why the pics don't render properly on the Inc HTC gallery. Thanks for trying!
The thing I like most about the Z gallery is that when you open it up it starts with viewing the most recent pictures instead of the oldest like the stock gallery.
Have you tried the 2d gallery from this thread?

Does anyone have Gallery 3D successfully working on the EVO and syncing photos with picasa???
If so, how... and can you provide directions.
Thanks!!!

From what I've read, the Gallery 3D has bugs (crashes when you use the camera). Anyone know of a more bullet-proof way of synching Picasa web photos with the Evo? How about a Picasa-like photo viewer on the Evo that will edit & organize photos like the Picasa desk-top application?
Try this one...it works great.
i've been using 3D gallery on my EVO since the first day I got it. It's been flawless and it's extremely smooth as well. You probably just got a bad apk. Try the newer ones, you'll love it.
Thanks david279. Your attached APK worked great on my Evo.
Many thanks, I appreciate it.
When you open the camera via the gallery, it only gives you the ****tiest resolution, it hasnt been properly ported to the evo yet
also zooming in on a photo makes it look like its crap in 3-d gallery, its like its zooming in on a low-res sample and not the 8mp image that it is. If i zoom in with htc's gallery it looks incredible.

Works fine on my phone as well... for the record, you do have to wait a bit for the image to full load when you zoom in. It will zoom in pixelated and then after a bit it will sharpen up and look the way it should.
Here's the new working link.

there you go guys.
why wasnt it included? this gallery is way cooler than stock android or htc sense gallery
probably not the right place to ask, but I noticed that in 3d gallery you cannot share a photo through MMS, while in the regular Desire gallery you can. In 3d gallery, the share menu does not have as an option share through messaging. Is this true or is there something wrong with mine?
thanks!

Well I'm running CM6 on my Desire with 3D gallery and I can share via MMS from the gallery no problem
and also to OP: I don't know why they didn't include it but I don't see it as too much of a problem as it is easily installed

its because if htc includes it , its highly likely that it will work better , less buggy, and more responsive, can u post the file youre using?
its because the 3D Gallery is a nexus one app, not a htc app lol here is the apk you can install it normally, also this is the version called Gallery 3D not just gallery so it dosent clash with the native htc gallery app
Hello all
prehaps im missing the point, and it is just that its in 3d. but why are so many people interested in gallery 3d over the stock htc desire gallery.
stock has access to facebook and seems faster.
whats so good about it?
The 3D gallery is more polished and visually appealing. The HTC gallery on the other hand is better optimized. It's faster and it renders pictures at a higher quality when you zoom. Depends on what you want really. I used to have the 3D gallery and even with the quality hack it didn't render pictures as well as the HTC gallery and it was a bit sluggish on the Desire.
also dont know whats all the fuss about gallery 3d
there is nothing 3d about it - yeah, you have to tilt your phone (and you have to get it right or else it wont register the movement) and tiles of pictures shift to the side
dont see any real use to it - it doesnt even have that "cool" factor since its useless
+ its slow as hell compared to normal gallery
Yeah i hate when it is included in roms as i do not use it at all. It's so freaking slow. HTC Gallery everytime where possible.
lol, so glad its not just me, know to work out how to package a rom after i remove it each time....
gallery 3d has integration with picasa web albums. that`s why ivuse it.
Is it possible to put HTC Gallery instead of 3D in Custom ROM?

Hey mate, thx for rq,
I just installed this one, but it seems to be the same, when i zoom the pictures, its the same zoom quality, i think the stock gallery app from android 2.2 is much better, but dont know where to finde it :S
^The Gallery app that is linked in the above post gave me issues on Darky's rom with a JPY 2.2.1 base. It didn't build thumbnails properly and showed "no items" when I would try to scroll through the contents of subfolders.
The version of that Gallery was 1.1.30683.
Attached is Gallery 1.1.30682. It seems to work a lot better for me. Give it a shot. Don't forget to clear your current Gallery app data before swapping. (Menu->Settings->Applications->Manage Apps->(show) All->Gallery->Clear Data)
Hope this helps, let me know if it doesn't!
Previous post...upload fail! Here it is.
different Gallery3D.apk tests
I tested different versions of galleries which I've gathered since I started messing with galleries some time ago... I tagged each screenshot and apk with filesize, because I lost track from where each apk came from. I'd appreciate if somebody could help me identify them properly.
these versions are:
Gallery3D.apk 713KB - from post above me
Gallery3D.apk 973KB - probably stock 2.2?
Gallery3D.apk 1021KB - probably stock 2.2.1?
Gallery3D.apk 604KB (desire) - "hacked gallery" - the one which comes with SGS tools, or Darky's ROM 8.0
and results:
- all stock galleries (713, 973, 1021) have same crappy quality whem zooming
+ all stock galleries (713, 973, 1021) have not any ugly pattern over photos when no zoom is applied
+ all stock galleries (713, 973, 1021) are fast
? 1021 stock gallery has backward ordering of photos (newest are first)
+ 604 desire gallery has better quality when zooming probably due to less jpeg compression, and better colors
- 604 desire gallery is slow
- 604 desire gallery has some weird pattern over some images (those which are landscape and viewed in portrait mode and vice versa) when no zoom applied
- Note: when migrating from/to 604 desire gallery, you will loose an option for each photo "show on map" (GPS tags are ok, because it works in 3rd party apps)
(I didn't test any of these galleries for sensor bug, battery drain or whatsoever...)
conclusion:
THEY ALL ****ING SUCK
why the hell does the SGS have 5Mpix camera when you cannot take full advantage of it by zooming your photos?? And don't tell me that the SGS's hardware can't handle 5Mpix photos...
update:
I just switched to JustPictures! app and its great! screw you Gallery3D
update2:
Switched to QuickPic which is simplier than JustPictures! but it performs better
I have froyo 2.2.1 with its stock gallery3d and i noticed that after a few hours of non use, it gets killed and when you start it up it takes forever for it to load all the pictures an folders instaid if been instantaneous.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Hi there,
So I noticed recently (I think after updates...) that when I preview my gallery via the bottom right corner in the htc camera app, it now previews all of my photos (aka the timeline section and includes screenshots, downloads, whatsapp videos) rather than just previewing my camera shots album (photos taking only with camera).
I was under the impression that before it would only show my camera shots when I use the gallery shortcut via the Htc camera app. I tried installing previous versions and had no luck.
Basically I really don't want it to go through all my other folders when just trying to do a quick preview of recent photos! I could put .nomedia in all of those folders I guess -- but I still want them in my gallery app, just not when doing a quick preview of my camera shots.
Anyone know if there is a place to change it? Thanks for any help
Htc one m8, most recent version htc camera and gallery. On lollipop 5.0.1.
I also hate this change.
I don't want to see all of my whatsapp, facebook, etc. images in camera preview.
Does anyone know how to change this?
Thank you
I hate it too.. Facing this issue on HTC one m7 running kitkat.. Anyone knows how to fix it?

You should look for a solution in the M7 device section. Applying fixes mean for other devices may not work, and may even harm your device.
Also, Kitkat is very old, and that may be part of the problem.
