I'm having a issue where I can't access ClockworkMod Recovery (or any other recovery, to be fair) when booting in HBOOT and selecting Recovery.
If I boot throught ROM Manager, I can go into CM like everybody else. If I try to go manually, I end up in the stock Recovery with exclamation mark.
The thing is that I made a tutorial to install CM in Desire and shared with some friends and all of them, following the same steps I made, can go into CM just by selecting Recovery in HBOOT.
Installed thru Unrevoked succefully but got the same issue.
I've tried to flash CM again thru ROM Manager several times with no luck. I can only go to CM if I use the option in ROM Manager.
I've searched a lot but I don't think I'm finding the correct key words.
Anyone has any ideas?
This is important because if I have problems with flashing some ROM and can't get into Android and ROM Manager, I won't be able to do anything without a PC.
I'm using Official SenseFroyo 1.0c from Open Desire.

You will have to flash a RUU Rom to restore recovery
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You have forgotten one simple step.
When you choose recovery and get the red exclamation mark with a triangle, as described, you then need to press the volume down key and power at the same time. You will then have a blue text menu, choose apply update.zip to load CW recovery ( assuming you have CW recovery stored on your SD card root folder, renamed to update.zip )

Do you mean flash a RUU Rom and then flash a Custom Recovery back thru ROM Manager?
If so, is there any explanation why out of about 5 Desires rooted and with custom recovery flashed the same way, only 1 can't go into CM Recovery strait from HBOOT?
I'll try that as a last resource... If I can avoid flashing a 2.1 ROM and then a Froyo ROM back this would be nice.
Anyway, thanks for the quick help.

I already have CW installed. I just can't access it directly. Nothing happened when I pressed voldown+power while the red triangle was showing.

Sorry guys, you were right.
It turns out that dispite having using Unrevoked until it said "done", I though it would install CW directly...
Anyway, I just had to push VolUp + Power properly and managed to go into stock recovery and then flash CW.
Thanks atomfix and gekkonz for your help. I would never figure this out myself...
And that ROM Manager thing pointing out I had CW installed is really misleading, by the way...
Doh, yes vol up not vol down
Just flashed shipped rom by the way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826465
Then installed Visionary to root, it was OK.
Then did a "one click radio S-off" it was ok.
Then installed ROM Manager to install ClockworkMod Recovery .... Everything was OK. Then I reboot to Recovery mode, screen burst upon with "!" symbol in triangle and halt ...
Try to do many ways ... but nothing happened better.
Somehow I got mistake or something went wrong? Because before re-flashed the rom said above I can boot into recovery mode without problem.
Please help.
Thanks.
You need km flash the clockwork recovery image over the top of the stock recovery. Flashing with ROM manager is a fake flash and not the real thing, have a look at the stickies have flash the recovery then you'll be good to go,
Good luck

Blinkydamo what are you talking about?? Rom manager flashes it just fine. It just has a bug, that sometimes users have to flash cwm twice.
So, HkDng, just try to flash clockworkmod again using rom manager.

Thanks jkoljo.
I tried to flash using rom manager many times but still failed.
Try to remove the rom manager and install it again.. And check in bootloader that you have S-OFF.

Personally I would flash the recovery from fastboot, at least then you know if it's worked or not, I am finding rom manager a little flaky with the latest cwm 3.0.0.5, and end up using Clockwork recovery directly for the time being

from rom manager it reboot, i select recovery it then freezes at the green and white HTC logo screen
the same happens when i try to boot into recovery using adb
can someone help?
Have you tried reflashing the recovery either via rom manager or using adb?
Sent from my HTC Vision
Don't think so, is the flash recovery 1 of the selection at the top of the Rom manager?
At the top of the rom manger app it will say flash recover 3.0.2.4. This is the most recent offical version. Click it and it will install CWM

So flash recovery and try booting into recovery again?

Cool, glad you got it sorted, happy flashing

See if this recovery works. You can either flash it through recovery or extract the image. Once you do that, you can flash it through either Fastboot, ADB, or Terminal Emulator.
Alright i had to get a new Dinc 2 because my lights for the bottom control buttons quit working. So i am trying to root again but i have to downgrade from android 2.3.4 to 2.2.1 with the file PG32IMG.zip. So i do that and now everytime i try to get into my recover after i push everything to my phone i get into the hboot and it does that scan thing it does, and then it just keeps trying to apply that PG32IMG file. And if i try to delete the file after i'm downgraded i can boot into hboot everything works fine but when i select recover it acts like it wants to go into it and then i get the screen with the phone and the exclamation point which im guessing means bricked. but i can reboot my phone and it works just phone. Is there anything i can do??
Did you use revolutionary exploit to root. It sounds as if you don't have a custom recovery installed.
If you are rooted then install Tom manager from market and flash recovery or download 4ext updater and install 4ext recovery. Then try to boot into recovery.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
As far as the yellow triangle that is the stock recovery built into the Android operating system. You aren't bricked.

Ya, i used revolutionary and it ran all through that and got to where it asks to install the recovery, i said yes and as far as i could tell from when i did it the first time it worked just fine
well last night i had gained s-off and couldnt get into recovery so i got back to s-on and now today i'm trying to run revolutionary and it keeps failing.....should i just give up?

No. Try to redo the ruu. Then root using revolution (well try to). Then download rom manager and check you recovery. When ever I ruu I will always reflash recovery through rom manager. Although I have switched to 4ext recovery.

Hi everyone.
I was able to successfully unlock the bootloader and root the phone.
However, I have trouble trying to get into the Clockwork Recovery Mode. Every time I try I just get a message saying that this is a special distribution and some other legal stuff. I can't get into recovery mode.
Anyone else have this problem and fix it? If so, how so? I would like to install some custom ROMs.
Have u flashed the recovery in fastboot?. The screen with red letters is normal.it shows u have installed custom firmware on ur phone.

I believe I have. I have also done it via the Clockwork Mod app.
How would I go about making backups and installing custom roms?
For that u have to flash custom recovery. Flash it again...
Download appropriate recovery.img for ur phone. place it in fastboot folder.rename it recovery.img.go into fastboot n connect phone 2 pc.it should say fastboot USB. Now use command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img while in fastboot( not in boatloader screen).

I think I did that. But I will try again

Did it twice, unfortunately all I get is the disclaimer instead of the Clockword Mod recovery options. I can't even do a factory reset.
Here is what I used:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1635520
Still doesn't work.
If you flashed the clockworkmod recovery.img via fastboot and it says successful it should be on there. The HTC disclaimer boot screen is normal. You must boot into the bootloader and select recovery to get into clockworkmod.
The only recovery I can get working is Team Win. I Unfortunately after I install a rom it either freezes at the disclaimer or the rom reboots the system. The I can't even restore the stock recovery.
Any advice?

TWRP is more convenient than clockworkmod for this particular phone in my opinion. When flashing rom don't forget you have to flash boot.img (kernel) from the rom (usually extracted from the zip). If your having problems with roms you may have to RUU back to stock.
