I remember doing this with CM3 and CM4 on my G1, unfortunately, the files don't exist to remove in 2.3.2.. I have a theme for evervolv gingerbread and would like to incorporate this into my theme. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Im thinking I may need to add some lines in keygaurd_rotary_unlock_port.xml, but am not positive.. or maybe remove some lines from another .xml?
Attached is an image of what id like this to look like.. Basically just the ability to view the homescreen with the keygaurd is up.

Recompiling an .apk
There are a couple of ROMs that I want to make it compatible with, and the framework is not interchangable, so this seems to be the easiest way to go about it.
Also, I did say any guidance would be appreciated. Oh gave some guidance-more than I got from anyone else. Haha

You may also have to edit policy.jar from the frameworks as it contains code for the lockscreen. Looking at the XML the color code is a transparent code. So it is the actual desktop picture showing, but how to get the widgets to show through idk.

It could be by just changing your grid sizes.
What launcher are you using?

ICS style task switching
I use an app for this, which name is "Perfect task switcher".
It shows a preview of running apps (only stock based roms, not in CM7)
You can set it to show only running tasks.
I tried a lot of task manager, switcher apps. And I found that the best .I think you like it.
Here is the market link:

Team battery bar does this via an app without the need for a mod.

Just a quick FYI.. for anyone wanting to manually do this on TW. You'll need to make changes to the tw_status_bar.xml rather than the status_bar.xml mentioned in the OP.
* Edit: Derp! Apparently this has already been mentioned in the thread....

You're rooted I assume? Metamorph had things to make that possible. Look in the themes and apps section. Also romcrazyguy, a me member of he forum has a way not sure but seem him post about it.

Hello everyone, I have recently been attempting to do some minor theming and I can't seem to understand the sizing of the images. I was told it was supposed to be 720×1280 but with some images it just doesn't seem to work. I've also noticed with some zips I've downloaded that sizes were different then the one I mentioned. Can someone please explain to me the proper sizing of each?? Thanks in advance!

The proper sizing is 720x1280. Also make sure it's in png format and that you name it the same as is in the rom. In some cases such as moar I believe the size is 1020x1280 so as to work properly in landscape mode. Also depending on which rom your trying to add a pd image to it may not be supported. ..it's a mod that has to be added. Hope this helps some.

I am currently running wicked project X, I'm pretty sure changing the pd and fw bg is supported on this rom. Thanks for all your help I appreciate it.

I was also wondering if someone could help me out with theming a keyboard? A Samsung note 3 keyboard to be specific? I just want to add some color to it. To be honest I don't know nothing about this. I've attempted to read some of the how to guides but I guess I'm to much of a book to understand them. All help is much appreciated!
