Ok I'm a noob to rooting and Tom's, my friend said the villain rom was a good idea, so I got it. Should I get the cm7 nightlies instead? Will that rom remove my overclockin?

Go for the nightlies. They're more up-to-date. They also are overclockable by default.

I personally prefer GingerVillain over the nightlies, I'm not sure what I will do when CM7 is stable. Probably try them both, but gingervillain is a mix of cm7 source and stock gingerbread. I have the thinks from cyanogen 6.1 I love (all of them).
Try it out if you wish, it was the second rom I flashed. The first being CM6.1

So far all of the nightlies have been extremely stable. I've actually been very surprised with them.

Yes, the nightlies are Gingerbread with the very latest changes straight from the CM team. Nothing will happen if you don't update it nightly... You just won't have the latest updates. Most people update every couple days or every time a good change is made (it isn't heavily modified every day).

No. It is already activated. Now you just have to learn to respect a ROM that is buggy and not finished.

I installed the cmod 7 rc from Rom manager and when I install an app from the market it would force close on the first open but it works fine after uninstalling and installing again. Should I do a factory wipe or something? I have a few other questions too. What's the most stable Rom with the new sense from the desire z or hd? I have more but I'm gonna sleep now. Thanks for the help. I've done this sort of thing with the psp but I guess that isn't really that hard compared to this. Thanks for the help,I hope one day I can be a developer or something.

- Normal. That is a common bug in that release, only hope is to wait for a new release and that they fix it in the next one (that is if you want to keep flashing the nightlies)

They're most likely much more stable than the CM7 ROM you're running now- however since I haven't tried either of the above ROM's I can't really compare or comment on it.
So, since AlphaRev is comming soon(-ish) I would like to get some information about roms. Or some suggestions.
I'm looking for a non-sense rom, that is fast (preferably Gingerbread).
Also; If I install CM7 (GB) will I have to install any custom kernels for overclocking?
Thank you for your help :]
No, CM7 comes with a kernel that supports overclocking by default.
ROM List here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
Thanks for that info.
Concerning your list, I'm looking for some input from other users
Can't really help you there, because the only AOSP (Non - Sense) ROM I have used till date is CM7, both stable and nightlies. Personally, I am very satisfied with it, and would whole heartedly recommend it, but, ROM choice is a personal thing.

What is the main advantage of nightlies over the stable one?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
Nightlies integrate many changes, developed over time. They are kind of "unofficial / beta builds", so there's no official support for bugs on those. Thus, nightlies may give new features, but may also have the potential for introducing new bugs.
One example: The nightlies use Android 2.3.4 since quite a while back, but all stable versions are still on 2.3.3. The next stable version will obviously incorporate 2.3.4
Thank you
Guess I'll go for the stable cm7 once AlphaRevX comes.

You will be able to get higher than 2000 with this kernal easily. The thing is though, I don't think you can flash back to froyo after going to GB, or atleast I can't.

There are requirements every rom needs which are stated in the main post. If you download cm7 version you need cm7 hboot. Then you must decide if you want something built around newest official release or you want a port, a 2.1+3.0 hybrid etc.
But as you wrote in such fashion your first post, it seems you have some reading to do nevertheless as it seems you mix a rom and hboot. Sorry if I'm wrong.

Try oxygen 2.2.1 which is fast, stable, fully functional, works with stock hboot and is running gb 2.3.5 - its what I'm using right now. Its not sense but its a great rom.
You wont find it on xda as the dev has started his own forum - search google for oxygen forum

Guys, cool it, there's no need to be hostile. XDA is all about helping others, and the Search function, as we all know, is far from perfect. It's not the most efficient way to get to the bottom of what msdl28712 was asking--which is user's feedback of different ROMs. Actually, this is the most efficient way of getting that info: by posting and letting users answer, then let the post sink into oblivion a few days afterwards. So you don't have to PMS over something so trivial.
As to which ROMs are fast, I find that Oxygen and InsertCoin are the fastest GingerBread ROMs. Oxygen is AOSP, built with minimal hacks, while InsertCoin has Sense 2.1 from HTC. They're both lean, as can be seen from the less than 60Mb-sized zip files (less half the size of other ROMs like LeeDroid or Stock ROoted GB). MIUI is pretty slim too, only 85Mb zipped, although that's because the English language pack is itself 25Mb. If you're Chinese, then MIUI is only 60Mb zipped, which makes it a lean, sexy ROM like Oxygen. Those 3 recommended ROMs I've used myself, and have had not one single bootloop (I always do full wipe before flashing, even if I'm flashing a newer version of the same ROM). I think those 3 are the cream of the crop.
I haven't tried your others yet, but that's because I've been so happy with InsertCoin.
I haven't had any issues at all and is nice and smooth. Also the tutorials on the Devs own site are really useful.
This is not my work at all,TDJ brought this up in another thread.
I'd figured I'll share it with everybody else.
Use the normal gapps you would use for 7.1.
I'm not responsible for any damages that are done to your phone by flashing this. I have tested this ROM an it works.
Steps to install.
1. Download the ROM
2.boot into recovery, preform a backup, do it anyway.
3. Wipe data/factory reset
4. wipe cache
5. Wipe dalvick cache(under advanced)
6. Install zip from sdcard, find where you downloaded it to.
7. Kick back an let it run.
All credit goes to the developer of this ROM.
