Ok, so I would like to install midNIGHT ROM v3.0. I have been reading through different posts and also read the WIKI and still somewhat confused or maybe just need a confirmation so I don't brick my phone.
I currently have Andromedia prerooted kernal and ROM manager v 3.0.0.7 and ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.0.
I used the Epic All in One Root and Recovery v2.04 to install the kernal.
I have made backups with clockworkmod and Titanium and copied those folders off my SD card to my computer.
From what I understand you usually start off going to stock with ODIN. Since I am on DI18, and please correct me if I am wrong, I need to go to DK28 since the ROM is froyo based.
Do I first need to go to stock SPH-D700-DI18-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 and then to SPH-D700-DK28-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 with ODIN or straight to DK28 to start off?
The ODIN I have downloaded is the Odin3+v1.61.exe and since I am doing the DK28 tar I don't need to worry about updating the modem and pit since all is included, correct?
For the ODIN part I get my phone into download mode and open ODIN then connect my phone. Once recognized then uncheck F. Reset Time, leaving only Auto reboot checked and put my tar file on the PDA section.
Then click Start. Once all is good then I need to format my SD card, copy midNIGHT_ROM_v3.0_EXT4_CW3.zip to the sd card and rename to update.zip.
Run OneClickRootCWM3.zip (or since the ROM says AIO in the title it is already included and I can skip this step?)
Boot into CWM3 and clean data, partition, dvleck 2x each (or is this not necessary since I wiped my phone by installing the DK28 tar)
Then install the update.zip and manually download all apps
I have tried to search for everything as to not waste anyones time but please let me know if I am missing something or can skip something.
Thanks.
Odin DK28
Root and install cwm3
Flash the midnight rom zip
Boot and install your apps
You don't need to format your sdcard or rename the zip to update.zip. And I don't think midnight supports rfs anymore, so you will have to use cwm3 to convert to ext4 (or do it the "hard" way with the older cwms).
Thanks DiGi760, I will give it a shot.
Downloaded the DK28 file from the link on the Wiki. The file was no good.

<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..

<OSM> SPH-D700-DK28-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 is invalid.

Downloaded the file 3 times with the same results. I downloaded previously the DI18 file from the wiki and had success updating to that with no issues but wasn't where I wanted to go. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong and that confirmed the corrupt file.
Searched and found a good file from the link on this post.

Now on froyo and on to the rest of the process...
I downloaded and installed CW3 from this post
h**p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897612
followed the steps there and first time I tried it, it didn't work. Ran the bat file again and it installed. I then went to the Market and installed ROM Manager. Opened it and booted to recovery but said a different clockwork version so rebooted and did the 3 finger salute to get to recovery. This time correct version of clockwork so I went through the options of selecting to update from sd card, selected the option to update different zip than the update zip. Picked the midNIGHT_ROM_v3.0_EXT4_CW3.zip and installed. I went through updating and rebooted. Now I get fc from titanium and rom manager. Went it reboots and has me select the launcher I have tried all 3 options and none of the buttons or screen seem to respond and it just keeps vibrating. Any ideas?
I had this issue too when I flashed yesterday. It would boot up normal and then have you select the laucher. You would be able to scroll left or right on the screen but nothing else would respond. It'll just vibrate.
I noticed on the start up, the word "android" appears overlapping the "S" symbol. If the flash worked correctly, you should see the option to setup your phone with the market on the first boot. I'm going to assume it just launched directly to what appears to be "stock" 2.2, the midnight rom didn't flash correctly.
it worked for me when I had reflashed the midnight rom in cw3. I didn't need to odin or reset anything in cw.
when you reboot, you should see the android animation instead of the "S" symbol (i think) and it'll take a few minutes to do its thing.
Hope this helps. it worked for me.

Here's what I did and where I'm at please help if you can? **MOVED TO CORRECT FORUM **
Originally I tried to root but it didn't root. In fact my phone started to have issues right after my attempt to root.
PHONE: Tmobile Samsung galaxy S2 SGHT989 loaded w Jelly Bean 4.1.2
WHAT I DID: I followed this guide to root my phone (it didn’t work/root, even though the Recovery message said it rooted)
**I'm sorry for referencing another forum..I just googled a how to**
downloaded extracted: ODIN 1.85
downloaded: TWRP (touch recovery 2.5.0)
downloaded to pc then put on SD card: Superuser – CWM_ROOT_SUPERUSER_3.1.3_BUSYBOX
*THEN I FOLLOWED THE REST OF THE GUIDE ON HOW TO ROOT..very meticulously (the guide shows CWM recovery but I used TWRP recovery).
From TWRP I selected and ran the zipfile for Superuser (the CWM***BUSY BOX file).
I got the message that said that I was rooted.
I rebooted the phone and downloaded the Titanium Backup app because it requires root. I got the message from Titanium Backup app that said I wasn’t rooted.
The guide says that if it’s not rooted then to go back to recovery/TWRP and flash Superuser again. I did and it STILL didn’t work.
I tried reloading the cwm recovery as well (both CLOCKWORD MOD RECOVERY I thought maybe this was the issue “nope” and then back to TWRP because it’s easier to use).
After this it started doing the endless “BOOTLOOP”. I had to take out the battery to stop it.
I tried going into MASTER RESET from boot “volume down, power, home key” it didn’t work..still BOOTLOOP.
So I rebooted into recovery/TWRP to wipe thinking that this might fix it. I wiped out everything including the OS (I got a message when I was about to reboot that said “you don’t have an OS, do you want to proceed reboot?”.
In my attempt to unbrick my phone I tried to go through Kies but it didn't recognize my phone (I checked the model & serial number 4-5 times).
So I downloaded the stock ROM through samsung updates so I could flash the ROM with ODIN. I started made sure auto reboot f.reset time was checked, clicked PDA, browsed to the file, highlighted the file and when I clicked "open" to add the file it doesn't show the path in PDA section as it usually does. So ODIN won't let me flash the stock ROM.
I don't think the file's corrupted because I downloaded the stock ROM from 2 sites multiple times, I tried switching USB ports, switched USB cables, rebooted PC, restarted odin. I can't get it to recognize the file.
I'm at my wits end so if anybody can assist I'd be very grateful.
Thank you for your time and help

Ok..so that I don't mess this up.
after I download this to desk top should I not open the zip file? Just open up ODIN select PDA then browse to the file location?

Hello,
I hope someone can help me. I'm not completely ignorant when it comes to rooting and flashing custom roms, but it's been a while since the last time I did (last time was my Samsung Galaxy S2). Today I decided I was going to root my N5110 Note 8 and install a 4.4.2 rom on it.
I decided I was going to install the Omni Rom linked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2569099
I apologize in advance for the long descriptions below.
Here are the steps and issues in the order that it happened:
1) Flashed CF-Auto-Root-konawifi-konawifixx-gtn5110 using Odin (Auto Reboot, F. Reset Time)
2) Downloaded Rom Manager App, and booted into Recovery from there.
3) Using CWM Recovery, I followed instructions as described on the Omni link and did a Wipe/Factory Reset
4) Using CWM Recovery, I selected to install zip from SDCard, and selected the omni-4.4.2-20140102-n5110-HOMEMADE.zip
5) After a few seconds, I got an error 7, and the installation aborted.
6) Tried to reboot back to the system, but of course now that everything is wiped, it just loops back to recovery.
7) I tried installing the zip again, same error. I checked the thread and someone mentioned the same error. OP mentioned using TWRP, so I went back into Download mode and flashed TWRP via Odin
8) After reboot, it went into TWRP. Tried installing zip again, same error. I decided I'll pick up another rom to try first. So, I took out my microSD card so that I can load the ROM over to it.
9) Booted back into TWRP - it no longer sees my SD card. Tried to power down from recovery menus in hopes to get it to see the sd card. No luck
10) I'm desperate now--I am trying to force it off by holding down the power button. It reboots back into recovery. I even try to get it back to download mode so I can flash CWM back on, in hopes that it will let me retry. But now it just shows the battery screen (like when you're charging it while powered off) at empty. I unplug the USB cable, the screen turns off.
11) I try to power it back on without the USB cable plugged in, nothing happens.
12) I plug the USB power back in, and it looks like it's booting up. It goes to the Samsung Note 8.0 N5110 screen and just flickers. The flickering increases in speed over time.
13) I force it back into Download mode, and try to run the CF Auto-Root again (like I said I'm desperate now).
14) After Odin reboots the device, it goes into the battery screen and is doing the weird flickering thing again.
I'm currently attempting to download XXCMH3_stock-rooted-official.zip in hopes to flash via Odin, but the d/l keeps timing out before the whole thing can be transferred.
Someone, please help! What am I doing wrong?

Hi, just so you know... you do not need to root a stock ROM to flash a custom ROM... I am surprised that you think that is necessary
Did you ever set USB debugging to enabled?
Also what Odin do you have?
Turn off note, remove SD, and see if you can start in Stock download mode.
Flash with Odin 3.07... repeat flash with Odin 3.07 and use N5110UEFMI1_N5110XARFMI1_HOME.tar.md5 from http://samsungis.com/
Here is a copy of a reply on a thread it may help if you cannot perform the simple task of reflashing stock ROM from my small list of steps.

Have you tried to flash with Re-Partition checked in Odin 3.07? It looks like your partions are messed up, if it was me I would just give it a try "flashing with re-partition checked" seeing as though its not working anyway.
If that don't work see if you can get a PIT file somewhere, I did read someone put up a link for a PIT file here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544451 although I am NOT 100% sure if this is for the GT-N5110 but read thru it and if you feel adventurous give that PIT file a try.
And here is a link http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/Galaxy+Note+8/XXCMG2/ that someone put up with a leaked firmware and the PIT file and CODE file for the N5110 you can give that a try also.
- Unzip the file
- Open Odin 3.07 (already included in the firmware package)
- Restart phone in download mode
(Press and hold Home + Power + Volume down buttons)
- Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
- Add CODE_N5110XXCMG2_1031850_REV01_user_low_ship.tar to CODE
- Add CSC_OXA_N5110OXACMG2_1031850_REV01_user_mid_noship .tar to CSC
- Add kona_wifi.pit to PIT
- Make sure re-partition is ticked
- Start flash, sit back and wait a few minutes.
- If you encounter any issues with the firmware (Any FC, Bootloop etc)
- Boot into recovery mode (Home+ Power + Volume Up)
- Choose to wipe/factory reset.
(THIS WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR DATA INCLUDING YOUR INTERNAL SD CARD!)
- Then choose reboot and you should be good to go!

GT-N5110 & GT-N5120 - 64GB 633x on board, Status Official on SafeRooted OEM ROMs with Wanam Xposed and RootCloak. The only way to fly 8+ hours!
This badboy don't play with Play & Triangle away!
In TWRP v2.6.3.0 look under mount and see if Micro Sdcard has an "x" if there is no "x" check this and go back to the screen where is says reboot ... reboot recovery from there, once rebooted in recovery go to install and in the top (if you are on v2.6.3.0) you should see storage, tap that and you should have a choice from internal storage and Micro SDcard, if you see Micro SDcard there you should select that and hit ok.
Hoping this helps.

My apologies. I didn't see any of the replies since my email subscription went to my spam folder.
Thank you for those of you who took the time to try and help me.
I know I didn't have to flash stock, but it was more of me being desperate and just trying to put ANY rom on to get it to turn on.
By some weird luck, I had got my tablet working the next day. Basically, in defeat, I just let it sit on the charger overnight thinking a full tank of gas would help it. The next morning, I seriously just pressed all the button combinations and managed to get it to go into recovery and see my SD. I tried yet again to install the Omni Rom again but no dice. It gave me an error again.
So I tried to install a rom again, this time the PAC-rom.
It worked!
Tablet is functional again!
So thank all of you and the electronics god for the miracle!
Have a great weekend you fine folks!
today i was trying to wipe my phone in twrp to re start everything. i was inside wipe/advance wipe and i click all the check boxes. System cache micro sd internal storage all of em. i did not no that it would wipe my os. now im stuck without an os and ive tryed to flash a stock rom onto it with odin but it just tells me Nand write failed on it so idk what im doing or what i am doing wrong.
Here's what I would do to at least get a working ROM on the phone:
1) copy the latest version of d2lte cm11 to your external SD card: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2lte;
2) flash the latest tar.md5 version of Philz Touch from here: https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2lte/ in the PDA box of Odin;
3) reboot to recovery and flash CM11.

thank you for the response. only thing is. i dont have a sd card.
how do i no what rom i need to flash with odin?
and what pit file i need to use?
i have a file but in odin i just get write failed
also i downloaded the phils touch thing and there is no md5.tar file in it so i cannot find anything on the odin pda
Use Odin 3.07 to flash Philz Touch in the PDA box. Philz is a custom recovery for the d2lte (North American s3). The file you need is d2lte/philz_touch_6.48.4-d2lte.tar.md5
You flash CM11 (the ROM) in recovery mode, not with Odin.
There is no need for a pit file.
Without a microsd card, you would need to push a ROM to your phone via ADB commands which is rather complicated for beginners.
ok im downloading that version and i have that version of odin. i also got my hands on a sd card. just cant get this odin to do what is needed.
Are you putting the phone in download mode before connecting to Odin? What errors are you getting?
it worked thanks, well the odin part worked. im still waiting on the cm11 to finish downloading so i can flash it. how did you no what i needed. ive been researching for hours man and i couldent find anything that would help me.
i have this file root66_ATT_I747UCDLK3.tar and i downloaded a file it was like i747cuem some other letters i cant find the file now just have all that was inside it.
also in the phils touch it tells me that i cannot mount /data to setup /data /media path! and i dont no how to fix that cause my phone wont open up on my computer so i cant put the files in it
It's been a while for me but you need to install a zip from external SD card.
The nand write failure you got in Odin was probably due to the fact that you have a 4.3 or 4.4 bootloader on your phone. The LK3 file has a 4.1.1 bootloader. Once you have a 4.3 or 4.4 bootloader on your phone, you cannot load a file with a 4.1.1 bootloader.
i cant get it to even open on my computer to put the files on it >.<
hopefully gott it to work, flashed cm on it now im waiting with the little head and the arrow spinning around him been doing so for like 3 minites thou...
yeah idk its just stuck on the cyanogenmod boot screen ig uess it wont go anywhere from there
Boot back into recovery and factory reset. Then reboot. It'll appear to hang for a few minutes, this is normal as it is rebuilding dalvik-cache.

ive had help in rom section but unable to get the rom installed trying to install the ultimate note 5 rom ok i follow op instructions tried muti twrp and the lastest philz ever time i flash the rom i get a error 7 code tried muti formatted sd cards tried putting on phone storage then flashing still same error.. ive read on the error 7 a little bit about it look in the updater script dont see the line it says to erase, ive flash other rom no problem but this 1 keeps failing with that error the picture says twrp 2.8.6 did it just to try out but im on twrp 3.0 now when i got the phone it was already on 5.1.1 ok1
I will be as specific and give as much detail as i can here...
You need to start over with a clean slate. Use standard class 10 micro-sd card and don't mess with multi format whatever. Use TWRP 2.8.7 or 3.0.0. Start by rebooting into recovery and wiping everything clean several times. backup any files that you need to keep. But you must wipe internal sd, system, cache, data and dalvic-cache. wipe thenm in advanced wipe options of twrp. Next reboot to download mode. Launch odin 3.10.6 or newer on your pc. connect your phone to your pc via the usb cable. In the options tab of odin make sure auto-reboot and reset time is CHECKED!!! Open the official stock OK1 rom tar using the AP button in odin. Once the md5 check completes just press start to flash the stock rom. when it finishe LET THE PHONE REBOOT!!! Once the phone boots, setup as usual then go into Settings and open "Activate this device". Let it do it's thing and it will automatically reboot. Once the phone reboots, go to settings/System update and do the prl AND profile updates. Reboot your phone again. Then make sure your data and calls work as they should.
Once you are on stock and have done all of these steps above you are ready to odin TWRP. Download the tar version of TWRP to use in odin. It is the best way to flash recoveries. Launch odin on your pc and use the AP button to add the TWRP tar. In the options tab you can uncheck auto reboot if you want. (I've never had to do that but you can). Once it flashes you can let the phone reboot or you can just pull the battery then force reboot into recovery by holding the volume-up, home and power buttons until you feel the phone vibrate. Release all buttons and wait for TWRP to boot. Once in TWRP, do all of the wipes same as before multiple times. Then for good measure go to TWRP homescreen and press "Reboot" then "Recovery" and this will reboot recovery and ensure that the rom zip will flash with no trouble. Reboot recovery then flash the UN5 rom and remember to wait for data to conect before proceeding with setup wizard. Success. If this doesn't work then give up and leave your phone stock until you figure out what's causing your problems. Good luck.
So, I've wanted to root my Galaxy Tab S 10.5 SM-T815 (6.0.1) which didn't go quite as planned. I ended up in a boot loop.
After reading forums Ive thought it should be best reinstalling a stock rom to my device.
In Download mode I got kies working, It downloaded the software, but the installing process seems to tuck at 2-3%, tried it 3 times.
So the last time I've copied the rom files from Kies's temp folder and tried Odin. Unfortunately looks like it has the same problem.
I load in the 4 files, and hit start. Everything looks fine, untin I get stuck at system.img
Then nothing happens, the green bar under "system" goes like 1mm, and stops.
If I reboot I get an error saying software upgrade failed and I should connect the device to Kies for recovery.
I'd like to ask for some advice if you can help me, thanks.
Figured it out
So I was at the failed upgrade screen.
Then I took out the sd card ( don't know if mattered) and via Odin I succesfully installed the rom.
I am having close to the same problem. Got the message to connect to Kies. Gets to the installing screen and after 3 hours still at 0%. Try ODIN and it shows:
<ID:0/018> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/018> boot.img
<ID:0/018> recovery.img
and then just sits there. No process line no nothing.
I can get to the ODIN mode, but cannot get to recovery mode.
Any thoughts on what to try next?
Not sure what corrected my issue. Downloaded Android Studio to try and get to recovery by ADB (not sure if that is possible from ODIN mode) and noticed it installed an android driver. Tried ODIN again and this time it took.
