[APP] Video call / chat from GT-I9000b to PC - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Hi,
Is there an App that does video calling from phone to PC using the front facing camera on GT-I9000b?
I've searched quite a bit for it, but so far it seems that only tango uses the front facing cam.
Thanks!

Hello carlosrjbr,
I'm not sure, but you might take a look at Fring. Heard some rumors you could videochat when you are signed into WLM.
And on other forums I saw that it might not be available yet, as it isn't available for other platforms also (iOS, iPhone 3/4).
Hope you find this information usefull.
Sincerely yours,
S1GNZ

Mac has facetime.

Try ooVoo that might work

Yeah, I tried ooVoo... unfortunately it doesnt support the front cam in the i9000b...
I guess I'm out of luck then, I'll try to contact ooVoo support to see if they can resolve the camera issue.
Thanks for the replies!

Yahoo messanger try it.

Hy
Im using Fring for quite a bit and works like a charm with front camera. Works on wifi and hsdpa/hsupa networks. Phone to phone and phone to pc.

DroidcamX works like a charm.

Fring has a camera issue with only the international versions of the Galaxy S. Btw, how do you do fring to pc?
I'll test the one mentioned above... Thanks guys

yeah i been tring a few vid apps and tango seem the best. I was able to chat with my aunt in alberta on her iphone using my SGS from ontario. I dont like fring because you have to register and its a pain.
I wish it was just as easy as apples facetime and not resort to 3rd party apps or if we can get skype video calls.
Dumb question can you make video calls from android to android devices without 3rd party apps? Like SGS to SGS or SGS to Desire etc

If your carrier supports it you can do a video call to any phone with video calling support including Nokias dating back several years.
Just choose "video call" instead of call when you select a contact or use the video call icon in the dialler.

well when ever i try that it says video call failed. Well this is calling to an iphone 4 so its not a prefect test.

Iphone 4 doesn't support videocall :/

then explain why i was chatting with my aunts iphone 4 using tango yesterday

The iPhone 4 only supports video calling through use of wi-fi or 3G (in some cases). The actual old school network video call is not supported by the iphone.
So you can use tango, skype or facetime (with another iphone), but you can't use the video call from the dialer when using it with an iphone.

yeh its called video calling. nah jokes i've got nothing. But i do hear along the grapevine that Skype is trying to implement the video chat to be released for 6.5. Last I heard its in its very early alpha stages, it would be cool though.

any hope for video conferencing?

are there any apps in the android market that let you video conference with someone? i found fridge for android, which claimed to support video conferencing, but the comments said it was removed. is there any way to video conference?

Isn't skype a verizon only thing? I also read skype only allows 3g (no wifi), which sucks.
But a evo, switch to sprint.

I downloaded the qik for evo 4g app off the market. Seems to work, has a video chat option on the main screen. Using a Vibrant so no front cam unfortunately, but rear cam seems to work so far.
Try Tango (tango.me) works on Android + Iphone, I haven't tried myself.
The Brazilian I9000 (I9000B) has native Videocall support. Maybe I could extract the APK for you?

[Q] Does SGS2 support proper call recording ?

So, i'm about to get a new phone which MAY be an SGS2.
However i need to know if it can record calls properly, without all this external speaker bull**** ?
Currently i own SGS and its useless in this regard.
If SGS2 doesnt record properly, which of new dualcores does ?
Yes it does. Just use CallRecorder from the market.
CallRecorder works great on the S2, the quality of the sound is perfect. The downside is that when you transfer the wav. file to your laptop, the file format is not recognised.
I have downloaded some software to my pc that converts wav format to mp3 but the file is still not recognised.
Any advice please.
There seems to be quite a few CallRecorder apps on the market, could you please give a market link to the one you are referring too please.
Call recorder has a little green android next to it in market.

No, it doesnt
Killer mobile have just updated their Total Recall app for android and cleared out a couple bugs, this now seems to work just fine for me. It also has the option to record in 3gp, wav, mp3, amr, plus you can auto upload to evernote or e-mail out through gmail.
Call quality is pretty good, only downside is it will not work with blue tooth head sets, correction it does work and record but you cant hear the person your talking to but the recording comes out fine lol.
Ill try the other one recommended here and see if its any better on the quality side but best thing for me with TR is you can set it to prompt at the end of the call to save or not so routine calls or family ones can be deleted without taking up space, you can also use as a dictaphone with a instant record button widget and remote sms into it to record when you have left it in a room and want to know what's been said if your feeling a little paranoid lol.
Is there any free call recorder which works without having to install new ROM?
I use stock 2.3.3 ROM and would like to continue using stock ROM.
I saw "audio hack" on forum - is it needed?
Maybe I have to upgrade to 2.3.5?
Maybe I need kernel supporting it (I use Speedmod)?
I've tried 5 programs and all of them doesn;t record anything or records silence. (dind't try TotalRecall because it isn't free).
alternatively you can try MIUI rom which comes with build in call recording. =)
I don't want MIUI, I don't want alternative ROM, I only need to know why sometimes call recording works, and sometimes doesn't. Is it ROM problem, kernel problem, lack of libraries problem?
Search forum for hacked call app it has native call recording works with any rom.

I've searched but found nothing. Can you you give me more directions?
I use callrecorder from svalec, it works perfectly with stock kernel.
Total Recall with recording strategy C works perfect.

Please stop spamming about Total Recall, all threads about call recording are full of that. Total Recall isn't free and I ask for a free solution.
I've tried callrecorder, it seems to work, thank you!

[Q] Alternative Video Call app

Hi, my girlfriend use an iphone 4 and well obviously I use SGS2.
is there a video call app other than skype? we've tried fring and qik, but really bad video quality.
so is there an app that will work for android + iphone 4?
i've tried the modded skype by pulser and the other dev(sorry i forgot), it has the video call feature but when use the video option, my gf accept the call but skype made it voice call, hence fail to video call~~
skype from phone should be able to make calls to desktop pc and iphone 4's skype right?
Try Tango...
Sent from Galaxy!
To be honest, the video calling feature on android sucks. On iphone face time calling is clear and reliable, were as on android you have to resort to 3rd party apps, which pretty much suck. So you can't expect cross platform calling to work properly when android to android pretty much sucks. Av tried nearly all the available video calling apps, and none impressed me in comparison to face time calling.

What about ooVoo? You can call mobile-mobile and pc-mobile with ooVoo. Take a look at their homepage, which is their name between www and com
Whatever works best for you!

well it says in their site coming soon for SGS2? found in browser's market but incompatible with device.
looks promising though.
I've used Skype from my phone to my friend's iPhone and the video quality was brilliant. Just make sure you're on WiFi. Don't forget, this is a requirement for facetime on iPhone, so that's the only way to compare quality.

thanks for the link but i have them already.
speaking of skype, i have problems video calling to iphone 4. calling to desktop computer has no problem though. when i called ip4, it connects to video for moment(but just black with the video buttons) then immediately changed to voice call and it will be changing forth or so until i end it. any clue?
Just tested with v5 and iPhone4 and iPod4 sgs2. One autoswitch to audio only in 20 test calls on wifi. Also limiting resolution in advanced options might help. I left it on auto.
One note. If your GF on iPhone has app off in suspend and not in app then after she accepts call she has to enable video manually by selecting camera icon and choosing which camera she wants to use.

Perfectly smooth video on Tango for me too.
Tested and works on:
SGS <-> SGS
SGS <-> iCrap Touch

Best Video Chat app?

Ive searched around didnt find much info on the Nitro HD.
I just picked this up for my wife, she loves it.
Whats the best video chat app (preferably free & mainly 3G)?
We tried Fring, doesnt look like front cam is supported.
Tango doesn't seem to work either.
Skype didnt work.
We got ooVoo to work, but quality seems a bit lower than Fring.
Hows the Qik app? It seems its wi-fi only is that correct?
Thanks for the help guys.
Skype works fine, if you don't mind hold the phone sideways.
GTalk (already installed as Talk) also works, which I found sound quality better then skype, but video worse. However you'll need root and SQLite Editor to manually set flag "gtalk_vc_wifi_only" to false in "Google Services Framework" -> gservices.db -> main
and do that after every update.
Or maybe this app will do

skype green on receiving end
Hi all,
The front facing camera of my nitro hd is not working properly in skype. I got my HD nitro recently and updated it to the ICS leak. So I don't know if the problem existed on gingerbread or not. My talking partners can see me but only through very annoying green vertical lines (see attched jpg). However, I can see myself without the green lines on the lg nitro screen. I can also clearly see my talking partners, so no problems here.
Is there a workaround for this? any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.
Moe77
P.s. It seems like other devices have had similar problems.
can't include links becaus I'm a new user, sorry, just google
green lines skype video support
