Greets people,
I have been using the LeeDroid roms for a while now, for some reason i like sense UI but i have encountered a problem when installing LeeDroid 2.3d from 2.3b. I made sure i NANDROID'd beforehand (I may be new but i saw that was important) but anyway, my SD card will not mount when i flash with or without wiping data and cache...I have a Kingston 16GB class 4 or 6 (i can't remember lol) and was using no A2SD+ on both versions.
Thanks in advance
Scan your SD card for errors, that solves it most of the time. Do this with a cardreader or from within the recovery.
alright, i will try that mate. If i copied everything off the SD card and re-formatted it as FAT32 will that do as well if there are any errors?

I have a lot of apps stored on my sd card via app2sd. If I rip the currently installed card to a folder then copy the files to the root of the new card and plug it in will it work without problem, or will I lose all of my app2sd apps? Thanks for clarifying.

Are you using froyo native Apps2sd or EXT3?
I guess it doesn't really matter. However, I only have experience with EXT3 (darktremor) and moving to another SD card worked fine for me. I copied the ext3 partition over to the new card (after partitioning it of course) and it worked fine.

I am using the app2sd that stores all of the apps in a file rather than a second partition because I heard partitioning sdhc cards can lead to unforeseen consequences.
Hi,
I've bought a 16gb sandisk microsd to replace the 2gb that came with my phone. When i have the 16gb card in the phone won't boot - just stays one the first splash screen. I've tried reformating as fat32 from windows, formated from recovery but still won't boot.
Any ideas??
What ROM are you using?

Using Alex-V 1.5 HD atm.
Did you moved the content from the old card to the new one?
AND ANSWERED this many times - search for it.
Using a ROM with A2SD+ > the new card needs to be partitioned and a nandroid backup restored to the ext partition.
Hello,
Okay, I have 2 SD cards here.. one is just an SD card and the other one is SDHC.
I cannot update any zip files when my SDHC is inserted to my Galaxy Y. Ive already tried to reformat it and did all the possible cure.
I am currently using a Merruk Kernel 2.0 but Ive tried it also going back to a fresh stock ROM using ODIN at no luck.
Are there any solutions for this? or have you encountered like this one too?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
please close this thread! Already been resolved. Thanks
Okay, I have resolved the issue for some SD cards who cannot use in CWM or stock recovery.
I reformatted my SD CARD using Minitool partition wizard --> fat 32.
from there, i concluded that reformatting the SD card using your PC (right click - format) will not work, because the phone only reads fat32 system.
thanks ;D
Hey guys,
So, having a little problem with my dad's Galaxy Y. I tried to root the device this evening and when I went to the stock recovery and chose "Update from SD card" it gave me an error.
E:Could not mount /sdcard No such file or folder exists.
This happened with a Class 4 Kingston 4Gig SD card.
However, when I used another SD card(1 Gigabyte-Class4 Kingston), it worked perfectly. However, I want to use my 4 Gig card for custom ROMs and link2SD. Is there any way I can keep using my 4 Gig card and NOT get that Error?
Thanks.
PS. By the way, the SD card is working fine, and it's working in the phone OS, Windows, Mac OS X SL and Linux.

Reformat your SD Card using MiniTool Partition Wizard and make sure the file system is Fat32. Report back after you tried this step.

Done and done, still the same error. :/
I remember having the same problem with a Kingston SDHC Card, repartitioning fixed it.
Try re-moving the card when in recovery and then re-insert it and try again. If that'll not work, re-flash it to stock firmware then root the device. Re-flashing won't take that much time, between 43-46 seconds only. Everything you need is in my Samsung Galaxy Young for Dummies guide, under ROM and Kernel Flashing.
Simply format the sd card in "full" i.e. Full format, not quick format. Fat32.
Prob solved.
Try mini tool this way
1. Delete the entire partition
2.Now create new partition
3. First one for links2sd 512mb ext 3
4.remaining space for the primary memory fat32
5. Now copy your update. Zip to the card. Try again

Guys, I know how to format an SD card. Been a Linux geek for seven years now. On the topic, I think there was a problem with the previous repartition. Formatted and repartitioned it with Linux.
Solved. Thanks for the help. Cheers!
I have had my GS3 for a little over a month, rooted and had no issues, I installed another rom with no issue. Unfortunately when I tried to install a CM10 or AOKP rom, each say my ext sd card is damaged and needs to be formatted. I try to format, but it hangs and then just quits without completing the task.
I have tried formatting to fat32 on my PC, downloaded EaseUS Disk utility to format, but none seem to work. When I restore back into the previous rom, it still says damaged and then I can format and start over only in that non AOSP/AOKP rom.
I boot into recovery when the AOSP/AOKP roms are loaded and it wont even mount or format in recovery either.
Any ideas?

I think I read somewhere that in CM10/AOKP that it won't read/understand exFat very well.
So, formatting to Fat32 is definitely the way to go.
When I used some other programs it would say the same thing... that my card was damaged and had to be fixed.
I had a heck of a time finding a program that would do it for me on my 64gb sdxc SanDisk card!
But I found a free one called GUI Fat 32 Format that actually worked.
Click this link and it will start to download:
http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/guiformat.exe
It didn't work immediately, for me at first, but after a few tries it actually worked very well.
I think that once you get it into Fat32 all of your problems will go away. Hope so anyway.:cyclops:

Glad it worked for you!

I had a similar issue... I flashed an AOSP ROM on my phone n it corrupted my sd card and wouldn't format. before formatting I went back to a touchwiz ROM and it still said it was a bad sd card and needed to format I ended up formatting my card in my phone and lost all my data. I put music on my sd card and removed the sd card from my phone before flashing another AOSP ROM. After I installed another AOSP ROM I re-inserted the sd card and it again said it was bad and needed to be reformatted...
So my question is...How can you use a 64gb sd card on an AOSP ROM...I'm back on touchwiz for now. Sd card works fine.
Does formatting the sd card in your phone format it to exfat and not fat32?

Wait, so you're saying that AOKP/CM10 don't have the necessary drivers to handle exFAT formatted sd cards?
Do you remember where/how you came upon this information? Was this issue particular to 64gb SDXC cards vs smaller SDHC cards or maybe to certain classes of cards?
I find this shocking, but I can't say it isn't unfounded.
I have a 64gb uhs-1 sandisk card coming from newegg in a few days, so I'm obviously concerned.
Any insight you could provide is greatly appreciated!
Hey guys... after doing some fooling around I've found out some (useful) information for people with 64 gb sd cards...
1. When you format an sd card while its inside your phone it will format it to exFat.... which is fine if you plan on only staying on TW ROMs. This format is not compatible with TWRP Recovery and has given me issues (causing me to loose all my data on my card) just by flashing an AOSP ROM
2. If you use the program posted in the second post(thanks iomega311) you can format your sd card to Fat32 and it will now work on TW ROMs, TWRP, and AOSP ROMs.
Hope this helps for anyone with SD Card Questions/issues.
In my opinion... Never program sd cards on phone... Always use a computer. Especially if you want it done right!!!!

CM 10 which all the AOSP roms are based off does not support exFAT since it is a proprietary format and they don't want any legal trouble. The best way to format a 64GB gard is with GUI formatter
What allocation size did you guys use? Just got my 64GB SDXC and need to format it so that I can use it on CM10.
