I copied the htccamera.apk from one of the sense roms and put it on the root of my sdcard.
Can anyone tell me how to install it. I use astro and it doesn't let me do it. It just says did not install.

Oh. And I'm running cm 6.1.1

I have read that you cant have sense apps on a non sense rom, different framework.
That's a shame. The only thing I like about sense is that camera.

Could anyone make a flashable zip or adb push .zip to change the smileys in the messaging app to more normal ones I really hate the stock green gemlins one :/ I'm running cm7 nightly 153 if that helps, thanks a lot

There is an option in UOT kitchen to change the smileys. Or if you all ready have set you want to use the image files are located in framework-res.apk /res/drawable-hdpi.
Extract the apk using apk manager and swap the .png's
I don't have uot kitchen it would be good if the cm team did so you could choose what smileys you want

I tried this but the apk won't install, using foxhound Rom if that makes any difference.
Anyone got any other ideas?

Hi, I was just wondering if there is any chance to get CM10.1 messaging working on a sense rom? Don't really like the HTC messaging app, and haven't found anything nearly as good as the cm messaging app on play store.
Thanks!

Extract the .apk from a CM based ROM and place it in /system/app/.
It should work after a reboot.

Nope, the app just force closes.

Sorry, I think that is the only way. You're stuck with the old messaging mate.

I cant see it being this simple but can you copy apks from one roms to another?
For example....if I copyed the samsung keyboard apk or wallpaper apk from one rom and then flashed another rom and placed the apk file in the system apk folder using root browser

It will installed as long as cm10.1 to cm10.1 but not on aosp rom but some cm10.1 to aosp (except all TW apk's are not working) and also those system.apk like sytemui.apk, settings.apk and framework-res.apk etc. and other apk's that developers of the rom had modified it.
So I cant take the samsung keyboard apk and copy it to an aosp rom and use it

Above answer was specific to roms. As long as framework used is same/similar its possible.
Custom roms themselves an example. Portability of app depends on libraries.
