Maybe this is a total noob question but i haven't had issues with this in the other roms I've tried but after i flashed the viper rom I noticed the youtube wasn't a installed app. Am I missing something here?
I'm also trying to add this package to my launcherpro but how would I go about installing this as everything Ive upzipped so far has been through cwm.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928575
Ok I figured out the zip thing on my own. So simple lol/ Still though if anybody can chime in about the youtube thing
odd. im still on 4.0.2 and its in there. i did notice that my email apk was missing though which really bugs me because i use my phone for my college email account and i just started classes back up. is the email apk back in 4.0.3? i didnt see it in the changelog.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed post links to apks

I can't guarantee that it will work but you could follow the links to the sprint updated flashable vvm zip. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743781
If that fails, you could try to extract the zip to grab the apk inside. I think I might have tried this with something else and failed but it's worth a shot.
The stock evo visual voicemail works
Fine it is not part of sense the calendar is so you should have no problem with the voicemail I'm ruining it on cm6.0 right now

Wolf,
Wow, Sprint VVM will work on a senseless ROM. I had it on a cyanogem ROM on my old hero and also on my Evo. It even worked on the early, rough builds on the stuff darchstar was doing for the Hero. It sucks that it doesn't work for you, but that doesn't mean that it will not work at all. Searching the CM6 thread would have shown you people discussing how to get vvm working AND their success in doing so.
Oh, and here is something we all probably forget from time to time about internet arguments.
"Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded."
I have cm6 and I instaled the vvm and everytime I get a vm I get a text from 9016...its so annoying how can I stop it

I've never installed this program before so I cannot vouch for it. You can try "Super - Private Conversation" in the market. You can search for "call sms mms block" in the market and pick your poison. At the very least, search "sms block" in the market app.
My suggestion is if someone doesn't have the patience or desire to help a newb, then don't flame them. Ignore the newb. Let someone else respond to them.
Could the errors you're experiencing when trying to install it be that the download, for whatever reason, got corrupted? It could be that the cm6 you have downloaded and flashed might be bad but I doubt it. Another idea is to go back into recovery and wipe phone and all caches and flash it again from the beginning. Maybe the flash snafu'd the first time around.
I'm not saying this is the answer to everything, I'm just offering up suggestions I would try myself. Installing or reinstalling isn't a big deal to me. I'm used to it from the windows days and linux when I screwed up something so bad I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Maybe reflashing the google apps on top of itself might fix the google voice problems. My gv is working fine.
I'm trying my best to ignore the drama...
wow 5 pages down to one after cleaning out the bad stuff.
look this is the Q&A section. its a place to ask questions. no one should feel like they cant ask a question in this section. those who would like to debate that please keep it to yourself. that said back on topic.
to contribute to the thread instead of flaming and calling names. i will add that u need a few libs and a few other apks to go with the VVM.apk. u will also need part of htcs frameworks that are missing from cm. this is the issue. cm doesnt have everything the apks and libs need. one could fix this but it would take some time sorting it all out.
I posted this on the CM Slide forum but I haven't gotten any actual help yet, I'm hoping someone here on XDA will be a bit more helpful
CM6/7 comes with the Gallery3D apk, which looks nice. However, it's slow. I hate opening it and sitting there waiting for the pictures to load, especially in folders with a lot of pictures.
It's even more annoying when I am trying to send an email/picture message and I have to sit there for a couple minutes waiting for them to load.
Does anyone have the stock gallery apk, or a good alternative? Or ANYTHING which will help whatsoever?
Thanks
So I don't know what this is, but the thread looked similar.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775897&highlight=gallery
You could try that out, the file on mediafire there is Gallery.apk, but I haven't tried it out.
Thanks for the quick response
I actually did try doing that, it worked but it was very..unorganized, I guess. And no way to change it around to make it better
I'm currently using JustPictures...hoping to pull the stock gallery from my girlfriends Slide when I see her..but I was hoping maybe someone had a nandroid backup or something.
I looked in the stock Eclair ROM and it' says HTCAlbum.apk. I'll upload the .apk for ya, I hope it helps you out somewhat.
EDIT: AlbumStuffs.zip has 3 files, the .odex and 2 lib files. Lemme know if that helps out Now I'm interested in if this works.
Thank you!
I'm going to try it now, I'll edit this when I find out what happens.
*edit*
No good. I get Application Not Installed.
I'm currently trying to push to /system/app via ADB, hoping that helps.
Any ideas on what might work if this doesn't?
Thanks!
**edit 2**
ADB install gives me Install Failed Missing Shared Library, I'm guessing there's another file that goes with the HTCAlbum.apk, maybe an odex or whatever?
Would you mind maybe doing a quick search for anything associated with it, and upload if you find it? I'd appreciate it
Thanks again.
i would like the samething. i hate that the 3d gallery lags!!
well, I've tried pushing those files, fresh installs, and a few other unorthodox methods... can't seem to get the 2D gallery working from the HTC based Album. I'm not a dev at all, so I really can't do much else to help out here. Maybe a dev will glance over here while they are bored and looking for a project or something? Good Luck though, hope you are able to get this working.
You can't pull the stock gallery for several reasons. One, it's odexed, and our rom isn't, which might be why you get app not installed. Frameworks aren't compatible. Even if it was deodexed, it wouldn't work, since stock htc apps are tightly tied into com.htc.resources.apk and other htc and tmobile framework apk files which cm roms don't have. It is probably impossible to run htc system apps as standalone apps on other roms. Personally I don't have gallery issues running cm7, but if you do you will have to find a market alternative.
You can also select a tool like astro when attaching images when it asks you what you want to use to select an image, if you are having issues with the stock gallery from google.

I have searched for and answer and have come up empty. Should start off with I love this rom I am using, fast, smooth, pretty.
I have the latest venum ice ICS rom, when I can add my work email account and see the emails and all, but after I sync my phone will freeze for 15 seconds or so, then it will say 'sorry, exchange service has stopped working' or something very close to that. Even while I am doing something else, cruising web, messaging, whatever. I can go into email settings and delete the account, then everything works fine. I have synced my work email to the exchange service on the phone with other roms with no problems, any ideas?
also, I do not have google talk, can I download a gapps.apk and get it?
EDIT: I installed the gapps.zip for ICS and I have google talk, yay!

It's a known issue with a couple of ROM's. Beejmeister posted this on the dev thread for Mijjz Blend ICS ROM.

Follow the links and instructions in his post and you should be good to go.

awesome, thanks I am going to give this a try. I think my calender was working fine, but I will see if this fixes it. I searched around but didn't come up with much, but I had seen it being mentioned in a few different development threads.
ok, so I tried what they were talking about, i switched the two files, email.apk and exchange.apk. Now I am getting more fc's. saying 'exchange stopped working' and 'email stopped working', I havent even added any accounts yet.
someone else had my problem and they were told this:
If you are odexed delete the odex files.

I do not know if I am odexed, but I think I am deodexed.
any help would be appreciated, I would hate to have to start over, I would rather figure it out, I will keep messing around.

Unfortunately I have only used Venom's ROM twice and I didn't use exchange on it. Sorry!
If you want an ICS ROM known to work with exchange I'd suggest either Mijjz's Goodness our Calk's stock.
Hello All,
I'm new to the forums, new to android, and new to rooting. I recently switched over from iphone, and it has been a bumpy yet fun ride.
I have an unlocked Galaxy SIII SGH-i747M running the Illusion ROM, android ver. 4.2.2 illusion ver. 4.2.2.2.1 beta
I really miss the stock email app and S-voice, I'm trying to get them back. I've tried the email app from this package:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28000240
as well as this modded app here, which installed OK but doesn't seem to be working as it will not sync any mail no matter what sync settings I choose.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28246860
I don't know what to do about the S-voice. So far what I've read says it cannot be done. Any ideas guys? Please go easy on me, as I am new to this stuff and yes, I did do my research on the forums and wasn't getting anywhere on my own. Thanks!

While I'm only 99 percent certain, I'd say this is not going to work for you. From what I know, both of these apps are integrated and reliant upon the Touchwiz interface to work correctly. May be a stupid question, but have you correctly set the incoming/outgoing servers in the email app?

Yes, I believe so. I used the same settings which did work when I had touchwiz. I could tell it was talking to the server because it still prompted to accept all the security settings, etc. it requires, just would never display anything in the inbox.
I did get the s voice to work last night, though (yay) a couple bugs but will work for me. If I cant use the stock email app, do you have any other suggestions? Something lightweight and clean?
Thank you.

When you installed the email APK, did you use a package installer or did you place it in system/apk? If you took the latter step, you may have needed to fix the permissions of the apk. If you used a package installer you may want to try the system apk method. Let me know if you don't fully understand and I will try to be of more help. BTW the permissions should read rw x r x r
. Another thing to look into would be to install the secemail.apk from the S4, as it may be an Android 4.2 thing.
Rooted and flashed over to the Cyanogenmod (unofficial) release over in the Dev forum here, but I can't find an apk that will install correctly and the play store says my phone is not compatible. The Marshmallow Visual Voicemail seems to be the only thing I've found in this release that isn't working for me, too.
I'm wondering if anyone can provide an APK from their phone or something? Might just be out of luck until the dev in charge of the Note 4 Cyanogen is back or Verizon releases 6.0.1 for the Note 4. All the APKs (and a flashable zip or two) have been kinda old. Most of them would install but force close if you tried to open them.

There's some promising stuff there. Frustratingly someone claims to have it working on AOSP, like CM, but the link 404s. I'll edit this post if I find something that works in case anyone else looks here. Thank you!
Edit: Nope, none of it seemed to work; it still just FCs when I open it. Oddly, I can't uninstall the app now even after undoing the build.prop changes. Oh well, if it causes problems I can wipe and reflash later.
