[Q] Inc and SYNC (Ford)? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can't get the audio to play through the car.
Calls work fine, connects fine...but with winamp playing and car on Aux Input, no sound comes through the car.
I couldn't find any settings to switch audio output. Phone plays no sound and nothing is heard from the car either.
Anyone else experience this an have a remedy?
Thanks!

Is this through a cable or bluetooth?

I know it's a stupid question, but have you paired the Dinc properly? Have you been able to make phone calls with the Incredible over Bluetooth and Sync? What year/model Ford?
One issue I've had is when you have >2000 contacts and you download them to Sync. That breaks connectivity incessently. Solution is to NOT download phonebook, only those handful of contacts (family, office, etc.) you believe you'll need regularly.

never downloaded the phonebook and its worked the couple times i've used it. 2011 fusion. Seems to pair fine, just can't figure out how to properly play music.

Pair & Play
I can assist - I use Ford Sync w/ my Incredible. Works seamlessly, one of my favorite features!
Make sure vehicle & device is paired successfully - follow instructions in manual to do that.
I press the speak button, say "Bluetooth Audio", open my music player on the Incredible and the music plays through the car speakers - just like voice BT.
When playing Angry Birds or other things on the device, you hear game output sound through the car speakers.
Note that when you flash other ROMs, your BT pairing(s) for Ford Sync, ear-based BT devices, etc will go away.
Solution? Titanium Backup - backup those pairings, flash, restore BT pairings.

[Q] Car Bluetooth Audio Problem

I have a LG Nitro HD running on AT&T. The phone came pre-loaded with 2.3.5. The bluetooth phone part works as I can make and receive calls with my car (Suzuki Kizoshi 2010), but the audio over bluetooth doesn't work. The phone part works as I can make and receive calls. This is very important for me to be able to play the audio over bluetooth as I have a long commute to work and like to listen to my music. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You.
It's been about a month and still no solution. Has anyone else come across this problem?
I do not have this problem. I have a Pioneer X930BT headunit in my car and my Nitro streams audio over bluetooth (A2DP) to it perfectly as well as phone calls.
Have you tried streaming Sirius or spotify over bluetooth? I found that the only app on the phone that streams audio to my car correctly is the pre-installed audio app that comes with the phone.
I can confirm google music and napster stream great over bluetooth. I have not used spotify or sirius for android.
Are you sure your car supports audio profile?
I stream spotify, tunein radio every day through bluetooth.
Spotify actually pauses when bluetooth connection is lost which is great for getting out of the car. I wish TuneIn would do it.

I have had the same problem with my nitro, it will automatically connect the phone but the media (A2DP) seems to drop automatically after connection. I've found if I manually re-connect to the receiver both will stay connected.
(settings > Wireless & Network > Bluetooth settings > *tap device name*)
I, like you, use it every time I'm in the car so it's annoying but it's a fix until there is a valid solution like a update or properly built rom.
In your case I would delete all the phone profiles from the car memory and re pair them. A lot of cars have a seperate a2dp profile for streaming music and if you pair them seperately the car stereo thinks that it needs to be paired only with the cell phone while the phone says that is paired with phone and audio.
It is not a LG Nitro 4g issue. Updates/firmware would not fix it.

That seems to be your problem JoTomlin and Kaiser. Before I installed my new headunit in my subaru I had tons of issues with my captivate playing music over bluetooth because the car had seperate profiles for A2DP and handsfree. When I got my new headunit which has a single profile containing both A2DP and handsfree it all worked without headache on the captivate and now the nitro. This is a problem with your car stereo. If its anything like my subarus, it would prefer to connect to handsfree and it would have to physically disconnect handsfree to connect A2DP (I would have to manually connect via the bluetooth menu). I solved it by getting a tunelink bluetooth audio receiver so handsfree would connect to the stereo and to the tunelink at the same time. Eventually I got tired of that and bought a new headunit.
Apparently a lot of people have swapped out their factory Kizashi factory head units for something better. But again, you'll want to bug Suzuki about something like this.
FWIW, I can stream Pandora just fine over a VW headunit with factory bluetooth. I do have to sometimes to a reconnect/pair though.
Has anyone figured out this issue? I stopped using my Nitro for about 5 months and then just recently updated it with 4.0.4, but still have the audio issue. My Samsung Galaxy SII doesn't have this issue. It's frustrating because I really like the Nitro. The Bluetooth audio is a huge issue though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Bluetooth in car...phone and/or audio???

Hey all
I have had a lot of trouble with my Galaxy's bluetooth connecting with the system in my Infiniti M37x
I now am able to have it so everytime I get into my car, the phone's "phone" bluetooth connects automatically, I can use the hands free system to make and receive calls AND the phonebook is downloaded into the system as well. Works just GREAT! I can talk on the phone and I have my contacts there. All hands free.
But......
that is only if I pair it to the phone part of the Galaxy.
If I also pair it to the audio device, then the troubles begin.
If I were to pair the audio to my car, the music sounds great...but once I turn off the car and leave, come back, the car won't recognize the phone part. Even if I go to BLUETOOTH settings, and click the little button, it won't stay or connect to my car.
This worked great with my EVO using Gingerbread.
Is this an ICS thing?
Are there any apps that would allow me to just leave the phone as the default car connection and if I want to listen to music, just click something to switch it over to audio part?
Whenever pair to the audio and I use the audio bluetooth connection, I have to unpair and start all over to get the phone to connect.
Hopefully this makes sense. Any advice would be helpful.
Mike
This is a Samsung thing (and I hate their phones because of this)
To have this function correctly, you need to enter car dock mode. To enter car dock mode, you need a samsung car dock.
If my phone is docked, I can stream music, receive calls, etc, all work great.
If I leave it in my pocket and I stream music and receive a call, the audio comes through the phone, and not through bluetooth.
My E4GT was like this. I opened an issue with Samsung to which they replied "Working as designed"
No other phones work like this, only Samsung and their ****ty bluetooth switching.
I think you can also solve this by going AOSP or AOKP.
I have no issue with my s3 when connecting to audio or phone. and im able to answer calls, and play music no problem
How did you pair both? Do you have to switch between the two?

I am also having this same problem but only after flashing a customer ROM. With the costume ROM the phone will connect phone and I can make calls no problem but I can not get music to stream to my car stereo no matter what I do with the costume ROM when back to stock just to verify this and I have no problems streaming music on stock ROM or making calls via Bluetooth.
Sprint GS3 horrible in car
The first two days the phone worked great. Now it connects but the sound is noisy and unintelligible from either end. I don't know what changed. anyone can help me on this? can I stream music through bluetooth if it ever starts working again?
are you running the stock software not modded in any way?

[Q] Bluetooth handsfree and using music player when driving

So should I be hearing music through my handsfree?
I used my phone for GPS for the first time and I love hearing Nav notifications through my handsfree set. What I couldn't figure out is how to keep using my handsfree set without music playing through it. Nothing would play through the AUX port of my car stereo unless I turned off my handsfree.
I want to be able to hear music through the car stereo and notifications / calls through the headset - is that possible?

I don't think it's possible. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think your phone manages both at the same time. You could have them go through the same one tough. That's what I personally do, both on bluetooth audio system (car).
How did you manage to get it to play on both? For me it seems like it has to be one or the other

Both on bluetooth? I simply have both running at the same time.
My issue was that it seemed like I can only do one or the other. I saw in the settings for my voyager legend that you can make calls through headset but have music still play through car stereo
That works

Not sure I completely understood what you're trying to do, so this may not be what you're wanting.
But if you go to your Bluetooth pairings on the phone and then go to the settings for your Car Stereo Bluetooth pairing, there is an option for either Call Audio or Music Audio. You can de-select the Music Audio so that only Call Audio plays through Bluetooth to the Car Stereo.
All I want is to be able to still hear navigation notifications in my headset while still be able to hear music through car stereo. That doesn't seem possible. I either hear it....
1) All in my headset (phone calls, music and notifications) or car stereo
2) Phone calls in headset (and navigation notifications if I'm on the phone) with music and notifications in car stereo
But I want it to be phone calls plus all notifications in headset regardless if I'm using the phone and music in car stereo

I went ahead and did a little search. Android seems to do it on it's on so I'm not sure why you can't connect to both and hear what you want in both.
I personally don't connect to 2 devices at the same time but I do get/hear everything in my car audio system (navigation, music, calls, notifications) and that can all be at the same time. The music sound will just lower when navigation girl speaks and when a notification comes in.
Now I dunno if you searched for this but I did find a app that might help (can't try it myself as I only connect to one): Smart Bluetooth Widget Free. There's also a paid version.
And like the other guy mentioned, you can select in the bluetooth options what you want to be streamed through it.

[Q] CM10.1 4.2.2 -- Bluetooth Audio in Car?

I saw that Bluetooth Audio was supposed to be working in CM10.1 (installed clean, formatted everything, etc; no custom kernel) and that people were saying it should stream fine to your car's stereo. I just recently tried hooking it up to my Ford Escape and don't hear anything coming from it when using Play Music. It is registered and synced. I can hear a faint buzz/hum from it off and on, like static on the line. It was showing that it was playing through Bluetooth. I'm not sure if it has to do with Play Music or something else -- I was curious if anyone else was having issues?
I've noticed this is also the same in my girlfriend's Volkswagen Golf. It syncs fine and registers with the car, but it won't actually play the music over the car speakers and instead we get silence. Her Galaxy Nexus (following the same directions/procedures) works fine in her car -- haven't tried in the Escape yet.
I'd love to be able to finally jam to some tunes in the car -- was curious if anyone had tried to sync to the car and had any issues, etc...
Thanks!

Shoot, sorry. I saw this one, instead -- and folks were saying BT was working... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2161205
Both of those threads refer to the same thing not working: headset profile for bluetooth, so you can't use it for calls.
Bluetooth audio is working. I use it myself regularly. It does not, however, show the song/artist/album title
Audio? I'm not sure what to think. I'm assuming my car thinks it's a headset instead of an audio device, so I'm assuming that is my problem at the moment...

I think I've noticed your issue, I connect my BT (Jabra SP700), start up Pandora, Pandora says it is playing but no sound. I have found that once in this state, if I directly reboot so that the BT reconnects upon startup, Pandora+BT behaves correctly. Give it a shot.
Well, the first time I had it going through Bluetooth Audio, it didn't work. I tried again later and it worked, for some reason.
I'm probably going to have to attribute that the problem was not the code, but a problem with something between the seat and steering wheel!
Thanks for all suggestions!

I have to unpair and repair my Bluetooth headset every single time I use it. (phone audio only). Looks like Samsung really borked up BT.
Thinking about upgrading to MDL this weekend to see if that fixes it.
i dont know about bluetooth with car, but i listen to my bluetooth headphones every day at work for hours and i have had no probs whatsoever with my bluetooth. it paired really easy like too easy and that was it.
I guess thanks for the fact that at least it works manually so in my case its a 100% software issue.
I'm having no issues with phone or media when hooked up to my car.

I have the same problem with my Denon aftermarket head unit.
My Motorola BT headset pairs ok, but the quality of the audio is so bad to my callers I can't use it. On my S3 it sounded fine. I had to switch to a different headset that's giant and stupid.

2011 Hyundai Sonata
have a jabra headset and its paired excellently 100% of the time
Had minor issues (device based) when it was "paired" to 2 devices.
Use Bluetooth Auto Connect from play store. I was having the same problem except mine connected on to media instead of phone. That app fixed it right up.
Mine will drop connection intermittently to my VW RNS-315 head unit and also drop connection to my Jawbone Icon HD. When it drops the Jawbone I often see a message on the screen that says Bluetooth Sharing has crashed. Not sure if this is as a result of the rooting process or if it's a glitch in the latest firmware. Hoping Samsung will fix and T-Mo will release patch soon.
Have yet to have an issue here with my S4 and my JVC Arsenel (Dont remember which model #, was one of the higher single DIN units a year ago though), use it daily and it connects on its own without issue / hassel both phone and media
I experience the same phone only problem with my Ford Sync system, I have to manually check Media audio, but it pairs both the first tube after unpairing. I'll try the Play Store app and report back today. I will say is nice to see voice control over bluetooth has been fixed in Jelly Bean.
UPDATE: Bluetooth Auto Connect (The first one listed in a Play Store search by Jakub Klos) works flawlessly to connect Phone and Media audio. Thanks @Sym_Link!
No problems with bluetooth here, my Pioneer radio in my Grand Marquis, both audio and phone sync flawlessly. However, my Sony unit in the Saturn, will sync the phone no problem, but I still have to manually check the box to sync with audio.
My experience w/ BT audio has been variable. I have an aftermarket head unit installed on a '05 Acura RSX (JVC-NSX1 - http://www.crutchfield.com/ISEO-rgbtcspd/p_105NSX1/JVC-KW-NSX1.html).
Note: my headunit also utilizes MirrorLink...which is just flippin' awesome.
BT Media audio seems to be very app dependent. I use Grooveshark and Play Music for my day to day listening, and I find that my Grooveshark will auto-play when BT Connects but if I'm going from a fresh power cycle of my automobile to Google Play I have to start the app on my phone prior to accessing the in-dash controls on my head unit.
Other times I can just select in dash controls and it will play Play Music.
Ironically, since the iOS 6.0 update plugging in the GF's iPhone no longer plays audio (freaking Apple). So if she wants to stream media it's only available over BT. Ah, progress!
