Here's my problem, I have dumped my old provider and now have the SIM from my iPhone and want to use it in my DHD. Does anyone know the settings to do this?
If I go to O2 and request it they will change my tariff and reduce my data to 750MB a month instead of the unlimited I get with "iPhone".
Any help would be greatly appreciated I'll buy you a beer if successful.

Ive done that and i found no help for it other than some settings, which i already tried(didnt work) and ive gotten more settings from the fido csr
and ive plugged those in but still no.(tested gprs/edge by starting pocket IE)
no connection.
I've gotten the value pack for fido which includes the Instant messaging portal for msn and yahoo where i can chat and message and check email unlimited... now the only problem is i cant connect to gprs/edge to use it.
question 1. how do i get the dam settings to work?
question 2. am i able to use the messenger included in the rom? or do i need to use the one specifically for fido?
question 3. once the previous 2 are answered..... Am I able to make it where only the associated program uses gprs/edge for data..so that way if i use pocket ie on wifi i can still use watever im using with gprs?
ie: surf the net on wifi, while im chatting msn on gprs?

When I first got a windows phone I was so determined to get it set for Fido's services. With my Universal it took me days to figure out what the settings were. I thought I knew everything after that. Turns out that there are a bunch of other factors such as MMS won't work until you've exchanged msg's with another FIDO customer. Also internet doesnt work without a proper plan first, it doesnt work like it used to , which was PAYG. Lastly the settings don't kick in until you reset the phone, and even then I have heard stories from some where it took upto half hour for some settings to kick in. I find it so complicated now that I seem to know where all the free wi-fi hotspots are around my area.
I hope this doesn't discourage you from figuring out ur settings through trial&error.
I encounter none of what you said. I dont use MMS so I am not familiar with ..all others is no big deal.
It takes me 30 seconds for set up and I am ready to go.
ps: I am on a unlimited for years.....
Well I guess it mustve been different with the Universal and your Hermes.
thanks for the feedback still havent figured it out as of yet though i do know theres supposed to be a dial out to *90# or something like that cant check the txt i received from fido right now.
anyways i hope to get it up soon, im gonna try to port over the IM program thats in my friends rogers tytn and see if i can change the settings on that thing for fido.

You bet money on it. I have an 8125 and also an 8525, both have exactly the same UI to set the connections up, however with exactly the same settings I´m able to surf the WEB, get GMail, all MSN Live services,etc only with my Wizard because with the Hermes I´m able to open just a very few wap sites. I´ve had this problem since day one with my Hermes and looking for a solution in this site and in many others I´ve found that I´m not the only lucky person with a $400 toy that performs worst than the cheapest Nokia, there´s a lot of people with same problem and nobody knows why this happens. I wanted to know how to configure my HTC S620 Phone with WM 6.5 to use the $9.99 data plan and NOT the Smart Phone Data Plan.
I wont use it to surf the internet, ONLY FOR EMAILS. I feel like I will be paying way too much for the Smart phone data plan.
Can any one confirm that the $9.99 plan works? If so what configurations did you do?

I would also like to know the answer to this question, as before I switched to a Dash, I had the web service that is listed as T-mobileWeb service. With the 6.5 WM 3vo rom, I have no problem loading the internet. But when I switch to Kavana's rom, I can send and receive text and calls, but have problems with accessing the internet, and it refuses to load. Am I doing something, or are these two roms actually set up to recieve data differently?
Also on a side note, I would prefer to use Kavana's so if anyone can shed some light on what settings I need to change so that my internet begins to function again, I would highly appreciate it, and I believe it would answer both of our questions.

Sorry guys, if i am postin this in the wrong section...I have searched and searched, but I still havent found an answer.
My problem is on my TyTn, before i had some other cooked ROM, and since my TyTn is not from the carrier I am using (switched from Rogers, to Fido>>Canada), I have a a data plan with them. On the previous rom i had, manilla2D or something like that, all I had to do was select my country, Canada in the Connection setup, and then choose my carrier, and then my internet would be set up.
Now.....
I have upgraded my Rom to "Pays_WWE_305_Final_Full" and when i go to connection set-up, Canada is not there. Fido gave me an APN, username+password, and primary & secondary DNS. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong.
Can anyone please help me, I currently paying an extra 25 bucks for this but i can't even use it. Is there like a patch or any of the sort to just upload to my TyTn so that I can have these settings; Location: Canada, Carrier: Fido...?

Hi all I've been a member here since my first HTC8525 and all of you have helped me tremendously. But today I believe I need to ask for help. I just recently purchased a T-mobile HTC Touchpro 2 and brought it back to Canada to run on the Rogers network. I have unlocked the phone and set up everything fine. My only problem is that I cannot change the MMS setting in the phone Tmob has locked them out. Could anyone point me in the right direction. I have searched the threads and to no avail. Any help at all is greatly appricated. Sorry if i am repeating earlier threads.
same issue here, im trying to change the setting on my tp2 but it is locked for changes, i cant even add a new setting.
i did the changes when i had my tilt 2 but here i can't any help please.

Unlocking the device via Hard SPL to accept other ROMs will allow you to flash any of a ton of ROMs for this device that allow editing of MMS settings. Most custom ROMs are faster, lighter, and generally prettier than the stock one. Otherwise, as I recall, you'll need the IP address from the cell network to change the MMS gateway in the registry. Good luck getting that from a carrier.

I have been looking high and low for a straight answer on this, but none exist. Softbank staff are less then helpful.

HTC Desire , global unlocked, i believe from hong kong
Softbank Black Sim Card.
I am trying to get this to work and set the APN settings. Im starting to think that when connecting to their network it will detect it as a foreign phone
so, if someone knows, please share how to do the following;
1. Root phone and change settings to register as Japanese mobile
2. Setup APN

Correct me if I am wrong, but you want to set up your APN to Softbank?

It basically explains what you need to fill in under your APN fields.

All is not lost though. I remember when I first got my phone, I was roaming the internet and I found this blog where this Android owner who is/was living in Japan.
Give me a few moments to see if I can find it.
At worse case, you could always contact the owner for his help on his APN settings and the sorts.
Edit: http://www.desire.giesecke.tk/ seems to be the place.
The website contains mods made by the owner on top of custom roms found on XDA. Some (or most) of his ROM mods comes with this "Softbank APN (special Desire version)". Although, if you are not too keen on flashing a ROM over what you have, you could just ask him how he did it.

I dont care about rooting, flashing, etc, as long as i can get this bad boy to work.
my friedn is saying it might be a little easier, all i have to do is change the strong name, which i beleive requires rooting.
i am going to try a few things this week i guess and see how we go. I am really going to try and find that one guy though and see if he can help me out in this.
