what icons are you looking at changing? Almost all icons can be changesd witha standard .png icon you can find all over. I also beleive riptide has a glass icon pack in his theme thread and a few others are available on the forums in themes/apps ussually with inside the theme folders as a compliment.

hi guys.. i need some help..
cause i didnt get an answer at Q/A ill give it a try here..
looking for the answer the hole evening, but i dont find it..
you probably can see my problem when looking at the screen..
the background of the icons at my dock is not transparent..
and i dont know how to make them transparent...
tried everything..
googled for it for hours ....
try using transparent background icons?
It depends on what launcher you are using.
If you are using LauncherPro its in the display->dock settings
If you are using Touchwiz then you will need to change the dock background ping in TWFramework.apk, there's tutorials on here for changing themes in TW
I can't advise on ADW as I've not used it for about a year
Im using adw ex ...
When I take icons from gingerbread theme they are transparent... But when I take different ones ( I.e. the ones from launcher pro ) they are not transparent

You'll probably find the icons you are using don't have transparency set in them, you'll ned to edit the .png files
I already tried with transparent mode at my draw program.. Using mac, I don't have photo shop or sth like that... Guesd it's called " don't show background " ... But it just affect the drawing program and not the png file ...

How would I go about changing the color of the battery icon, 3g icon and everything else in the notification bar and notification area in a theme I didn't build?
Or change the entire color scheme of a finished theme?

You'll need the framework-res.apk. Open it with winrar or 7zip, navigate to /res, and drag the folder drawable-hdpi to your desktop or wherever. Inside there you'll find a lot of images that you may or may not want to alter. Once altered, go back to that framework-res.apk that you have opened but not altered, delete the matching .png, and simply drag your altered .png into the archive. That's the simplest way to make changes, as decompiling/recompiling a themed framework usually yields issues.
Edit....

Just so you know, the notification icons for messaging and email and stuff are in the apks themselves. If you need any help let me know.
Yeah it took me a little while and then I was like oh wait you can look inside apks with winrar and I found the res folder so im coloring everything right now.... so .... many..... files.... its gonna take a while.... could I take maddoggin's 6 lock screen mod and just drop it in the theme or is there some files I would have to change first to accomplish this

Hey guys. I have been on CM7 for a while now but have never used or even looked at the Theme Engine before. I was hoping that you guys could answer a few basic questions about it:
1. Are these THEMES also launchers as well? Currently I am using CM7 with GoLauncher. If I install a Theme will it replace Go Launcher as the default launcher or will it theme Go Launcher?
2. Is there a massive thread that has a list of all the CM7 Themes? I have only been able to find individual theme threads (MattedBlues, etc.)
3. I like custom icons but I hate when I have apps that aren't supported...they stick out like a sore thumb on the desktop. Is that the issue with the THEME ENGINE themes or do they alter the default icons on their own?
Thanks in advance!
1)the themes dont overwrite your launcher, use what you prefer.
2)I believe there is a thread somewhere with all themes try google, there is also alot of them on the market.
3)some themes do have custom icons, depends on what the theme creator included.
Here's a list of some themes.you want HDPI for the evo http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046108

Thanks a lot for your input guys! I tried a few out. The only thing I'm not liking is when there are custom icons. More than likely they don't have customized icons for ALL the apps you want to display on your desktop. Then you either have to have ugly mismatching icons or remove the unsupported icons from your desktop altogether.
Can any of you guys advise on a THEME that themes all your existing icons?

Thank you Fergie....that is the exact idea I was looking for. Do you know if there is a black theme that has a similar effect (making all of your icons have a dark/black tint? I already tried DarkGinger. but it only has customized icons...and not very many of them.
Can somebody direct me on a tutorial on how to create icons and themes for go launcher. Or basically just for theming purposes. Id like to be able to change my drawer icons as well as my homescreen.
I know homescreens are easy but how to I get them to work in a launcher setting?
Top of Themes subforum would be where you should look. Sticky on how to theme.
