Case with Flip Out Keyboard? - Captivate Accessories

Has anybody seen the flip out case for the iPhone 3gs on thinkgeek.com.
http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/cellphone/e66e/
I was wondering if there was such a case for the Captivate?

Don't think there is. The keyboard they use is the same keyboard you can get off Ebay for $20 or so though. But it won't work(AFAIK) without special drivers or if you are running a 2.2 rom.

thats crazy

Funny, I have that exact keyboard and have been planning a way to mount it to a spare otterbox defender holster that has a broken belt clip. I just need to design a tray that the keyboard can mount to and attach it with a hinge to that back portion of the original belt clip which is still intact.

Instead of posting and reposting and reposting again just to add onto your initial post, use the edit button and add it to the original post. It's annoying.
And change your sig since you're trying to promote warez and downloading paid apps for free. Again. Seeing how that is stated in the forum rules and all....
Can a mod put a lock on his sig by any chance? Really. I'd say put a lock on stupidity too, but that's asking too much.
Taking money out of app dev's pockets, whether it be 99 cents or 7 bucks, these people worked hard on the apps, so show some respect and don't be a douchebag.
Edit: Sig has been changed.

Calm down! I agree with the thing about the paid apps but honestly the link in the sig doesn't bother me as it doesn't say "HERE'S WAREZ!".
But jumping on him since he did a double post? Really? Come on, man! I personally will edit a post I have made but sometimes I just plain forgot or don't see that I was the last to post.
In closing, if you have issues with someone double posting or having links in their sigs just PM a mod and don't clutter up threads with your rants.
Now onto that pretty freakin' sweet case that was posted. I'd be buying it right now except for the price.

Awesome case! Sup Bay_wolf !
i got one on the way! i was able to get it a bit cheaper too by buying the keyboard and leather case seprately from different sellers i was able to save 6$
$14 for the keyboard (inc s/h) and i "made an offer" on ebay for the case and haggled him down a bit.
and nutz is a "developer" and "people like me" steal from him... supposedly.

His last two sigs were promoting warez pretty blatantly, with links to his "magic android folder" which is full of paid apps, that you can download for free, thus effing the app developers. He claims to support XDA devs and won't rip them off either.... But XDA Premium app is up there too. Just trying to stop people from getting ripped off, that's all. Probably could have conducted myself better, but oh well, what's out there is out there and I can't take it back.
Not trying to pick fights, especially on the internet, cuz honestly, it's just ignorant.
EDIT: He just removed the XDA app from his site, so don't bother checking it.

There are some really nice looking ones (including some of the ones posted here) on usb.brando.com. I was thinking about modding the small one listed earlier into a bt gamepad if it was recognized by the cappy.

yeah i just looked at that site and their bluetooth keyboard selection, they have alot of medium size keyboards and alot of the small and foldable ones that are on ebay/ in this post. overpriced by about 10 bucks compared to ebay for some of the ones i recognized.

hey yea I just got one of those mini bluetooth keyboards for the captivate, and it works perfectly! all u need is to download the bluetooth jp app from the app store and itll work out of the box! Anyone have any idea how to fashion some kind of keyboard holster for captivate to fucntion as a gamepad?

Flygrip

Hey guys, I was browsing through some threads and stumbled upon this curious contraption called Flygrip. It's like a brace that you slip your finger through that you put on the back of the phone. It improves more stability and allows easier access to the screen because you don't have to fully grip the phone. This is probably useful especially with the Nexus because it has a rather large screen.
Anyone have any experience on this? I'm thinking of buying one and trying it out because it looks really handy.

I dunno. I think it would make it more awkward with one hand and 2 handed isn't needed.
I like the direction their going though. Creative thinking.
Galaxy Nexus - 4.0.3 CM9
Asus Transformer - 3.2 Revolver
A creative product, but ultimately more hassle than it's worth. A phone case will protect it from falls; this product reduces the likelihood of drops but does nothing for you if you do.
And you have to remember to carry around your phone and this Flygrip. And you'll constantly be answering the question, "what's that?"
maybe everyone has small hands but i dont seem to have a problem only using 1 hand

What if you stick it on to your phone case?
I guess you could, but that seems cumbersome... You'd have a bulge in your pocket for sure, and then you'd be dealing with a whole new set of questions...
I wish there was a vote up button.. I just thank people that I think are witty
In terms of the product.. I do agree it would bring a slew of questions and I'm not sure how much help it would actually be.. guess I should try it before I say anything negative though.
A perfect example of a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.
Can't wait for the follow up product that allows you to strap a phone to your face so you don't miss that important message.

Actually, I think this is pretty cool. While it certainly isn't necessary, it looks actually pretty useful. I just ordered one for myself. I have smaller hands and the gNex has been a bit of a challenge lately since I can't text or browse one handed anymore. It comes with a free case (they're getting a batch of gNex cases in next week) so I'm going to attach it to the case or maybe just put it on one of the other cases I ordered. Oh and if you wan't free shipping, use the code "IDIOT".
I can't tell if your post was one long setup to a snarky punchline, or if "idiot" is an actual discount code.
The world may never know.

lol, sorry for sounding snarky. I totally didn't mean it to come out that way although that's definitely how it reads. "IDIOT" actually is the discount code. I found it by googling it (http://sideshownetwork.tv/category/shows/iotw).
I really did order this so as silly as it may appear to be, I don't mind being a guinea pig. I'll post my thoughts on it and the gnex case when it arrives hopefully next week sometime.
it does look interesting, altho useless.
apple brand it, and they've got themselves a winner.
I just wanted to bump this thread. I just put in an order for one after being on the fence for a while and will let you guys know how it is!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKNUkB9N1Yg
That review kinda pushed me over the edge and with that "IDIOT" code (it gave me option to choose Next-Day shipping...for free), I was down to check it out.
Looks ghetto as hell but seems pretty functional since I always have problems reaching around the screen with one hand. I wouldn't mind getting one to try but getting it internationally shipped would probably add even more to the already steep price...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
You had me interested until I saw the price. $30 is way too much for what it does.
i picked one up out of curiosity... i like it. it's nice to be able to reach everywhere with your thumb and not have to reposition or oddly balance your phone. gimmicky ? yeah, kinda. will it become a must have on my phone ? i dunno, still getting use to the feel and i need to adjust the position of it a bit. there isn't a way to temporarily fit it in order to know exactly where you need to mount it so it's kinda trial and error for what's most comfortable. i ordered a couple spare mounting pads so i can dial it in then see how i like it.
they should cut down on the bells and whistles packaging and sell it for 8 bucks, that's what i see the retail value of something like this. i think they'd easily sell 5x the amount for 1/3 the price.

Very cool product. My main hesitation of using something like this, is the fact that it's a "permanent" fixture on your phone - unless you sacrifice a case and adhere the fly grip to it.
My second problem is the price. $30?? I would have thought no more than $5...

The *Best* Case Available - Benks Magic Cookies (w/pics)

OK, so I'm anal about my phone and its cases. I wanted something that was a color match, covered the corners and camera, was slim, and well finished. This is it. It's a fantastic case. It matches the grey perfectly, has a soft-touch finish, no moulding seams at all, doesn't cover the on/off switch, and is a 100% perfect fit. Outside the light of the camera you can't even tell the phone's in a case. I'd recommend it highly.
P.S. - The model really is "Magic Cookies."

At the risk of sounding prejudice, there are some really horrible individuals on this forum. So far, I've not had the greatest of impressions from XDA. Seems to be full of rude, arrogant smart-alecs!
ANYWAY Great find OP! I've been looking for a case just like this, though I'm still tempted by Casemate's 'Tough' case after a good run with them on my last phone If you've used Casemate before, how does it stack up?

For some reason, this is a tough forum. The two flickering threads pretty much sum it up. The level of emotionalism and circuitous ranting is pretty incredible. And the tone in the petition thread changed from happy to pissed to happy again in the span of three hours. All the forums aren't this way. The SGS2 forum is very civil. The Prime had issues, worse than the One X, but for the most part people were realistic while they were being investigated. This one will get better once the early issues get resolved.
I'm going to get a Case-Mate tough case too. I use it when I'm traveling. If I'm going to screw up my phone there's a 90% chance it'll be while I'm on the road. I can't count the number of times I've dropped my phone in airports and on planes. I have three cases normally. A PDAir holster (I'll post pics later) for going out and running around locally. The Benks for around the house and office so I can toss the phone around and not worry about scratching it. And a tough case for travel. A little over the top but I get good money when I resell my used phones because they look new.

I like the clear banks a lot.
And some of the people on this thread need to take a walk.... to a therapist or something. I can understand being upset by a post and correcting someone, but it gets ridiculous sometimes.
does this case add grip to the phone ? I find the one X is quite slippery for me (coming from a desire z/G2 which is smaller and has rubber sides that adds grip).
and yep, seems the one x forum has a lot of people that needs some form of anger management, I mean seriously when you get pissed off by a misplaced thread and start throwing some insults around clearly means you need to get out of the basement, have a drink or two and get laid to release some of that stress....

The GameKlip™

The new GameKlip™ is here! I started a new thread to keep things organized. Check it out here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2027611
Hello again everyone! I just launched an accessory for the Galaxy SIII (and other android phones) that you guys might be interested in! I've always loved playing games on my smartphones, but on screen controls were always frustrating. When I discovered the Sixaxis App, and native usb host and controller compatibility with the SIII, I had to figure out a good way to attach my phone to the controller. I came up with the GameKlip™.
I am a university student, and long time xda member. I've been tinkering with this project in my spare time and am now ready to produce them. I hope you guys like it! Let me know what you think!
More information and ordering info available here: http://thegameklip.com/ Starts at $15!!
Update: I shot another quick video showing how strong the GameKlip™ is. Take a look!
Update2: I have replaced the photos of the Galaxy S3 GameKlip™ with a cleaner, more accurate, representation of the final GameKlip™ (still hand cut). Its actually the same one I used in the video above! I have no issues pressing the buttons. The final version has the tabs moved up a little as well to accommodate for the bottom curve on most phones
Update3: I added a lot more information to my website. Check it out!
Update4: I just took some new photos of the production model! Notice the smooth cuts and plenty of room to press all the buttons. I have also updated the first image above.

I'm looking at the pictures of this device and I don't see how it is secure? it is just molded hard plastic in the general width of the phone. The plastic touching the phone is smooth. There is no tensioning device to squeeze the sides. i imagine if i put my phone in it and tipped it past level the phone would fall right out. Thats probably why that phone and hand that is "holding it upside down" is cut and pasted out of its original surroundings. I would imagine that it didn't get picked up by Kickstarter because they know it will be the cause of many a broken phone. Sorry to be a downer.

The phone isn't cut and pasted in the balcony picture. I held the phone with one hand and took the picture with the other I used a fill flash to light the controller, which may be throwing you off.
The material itself has a little spring to it and is molded to be just a hair thinner than the phone. The tabs hold it very securely. I can hold mine upside down with my S3 and shake it without anything coming lose or falling off.
I was looking all around for a clip with no success. Even tried to talk a Gamestop worker to give me their display clip! That's why I love xda. Is it wrong to find out if someone out there owns one and what its like. I don't mean ripoff money wise. I mean copy of crapple smart cover. Im not a kid and my dad is dead btw thanks. In the one video it shows them remove it from the sticky and show it won't stick to the case. So I'm not sure what it would do to the tablet pretty much why I asked.

Sorry about your dad, really! But still... your topic is offensive and it will affect the answers you get.

No biggie tubgirl u just caught me by surprise with that. Sorry about being off topic but I guess I never thought of it being a big deal. A lot of cases resemble a "smart cover" but I've never seen one that is this close to being the same. To anyone offended I'll change the post.

The maker of the videos is located in Hong Kong, so I assume its a product from overseas, and although I'm willing to buy one I find it interesting, that the only place I see the Wraplette is on YouTube. There is no other mention of it other than videos. No place to buy it or a review of it. zip nada nothing.

You're absolutely correct ... but I have to laugh about someone who took their username from one of the most disgusting shock videos to ever grace the internet correcting someone else's netiquette.
Cool thanks for the info. Did u buy it on eBay?

I ordered the Gimmick Five a week ago (see this post). Hopefully I'll get the cover within the next week or two.
I'm just looking for something slim that will protect the Note against scratches while I wait for a better case. On the video it looks like magnets are used to lock the cover in closed position... I would have prefered an elastic band instead and not having the cover wrap around the edge to the back side.
Well well... we'll se what it's like when I get it.

PS. I've emailed Belkin asking them to make their fine Slim Folio Case for the Note 10.1 as well. A friend of mine has it for the iPad 2 and the case is awesome. To get in contact with Belkin I used this link and supplied the Youtube link as reference. I suggest everyone else do the same and maybe they'll listen to us.

Ill shoot belkin an email. That case seems pretty nice I just don't care for the bezel being covered. I say that never owing a case for my tablets like that. How much did it sell for in the Ipad version

Well if you don't want the bezel to be covered (I do) then you can just go for the Belkin Cinema Case for the Galaxy Note 10.1. Good materials used and nice finish I think.

Here's a video review of it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_ymHTmbXGc
Personally however I prefer the bezel to be covered (even better protection).

I tried the Belkin case in the store. Feels very cheap and flimsy, especially for the price.

Ok, well then it must be very different from the iPad version which I think has very nice quality. If by flimsy you mean the opposite to stiff well then that's a good think imho.

So you guys are going to (semi) permanently glue your Note's to a case?
"Magic tape -- allows adhesive to the device firmly and removal the device hassle-freely without any mark of glue."
Yeah, no.
Ugh... this doesn't look good at all!!

So now we know that magnets really should be avoided on cases for the Note 10.1. As I wrote in an earlier post I would have preferred an elastic strap instead.

Otterbox (free) I bought two on accident - Symmetry Series Case for Pixel 3XL

Probably NOT the right forum or location for this post but IDK where it should go so I am putting here (mods move if its in the wrong spot). I am a long time developer and user on XDA so I figured I would help someone who needs a case and offer it to the first person that responds. I have the following otterbox case for anyone who wants it, just pay the buck shipping, or whatever it comes to (I am in NJ/NYC). I bought 2 of them in a rush to protect my new Pixel so of course the less expensive one came first and I like it better (slim 8 buck - ESR Essential Zero Compatible for The Pixel 3 XL Case) on Amazon. I like this one better as it fits perfectly in my butt pocket and the otterbox version is way to chunky for my taste (but is excellent for absolute total device protection) otterboxes are fantastic for protection, its just to much for me.

Its a 50$ case so the first user that responds they want it, its theirs (assuming they pay shipping), I am not losing more money to ship out a free case that already cost me 50$s. I cannot return it because I opened it so anyone that wants it, its yours (no strings attached, this is not a trick), I just help when I can!

If all else fails, I'll take it and use it while I work since I'm always climbing through ceilings. I'm also in NY, btw.
Anyway, just PM me if everyone else backs out! And thanks for being generous and giving away the extra.
last time I ever do anything nice for anyone like this ever again. not only was I burned on the shipping but also for the case, I was giving it out for free but I lost on both ends, the guy either dicked me or it was truly stolen from his mailbox, either way, this will be the last time ever! I escalated to USPS as theft and police but nothing will come from it, its been over a month since opening it

That is unfortunate, don't let it lose all hope though. I did something similar and sent a several hundred Euros to a young dev in Romania to get a new device. He bough said device so he could keep developing (I had the same device). I could see how your situation is discouraging though.

Thank you for this reply, it helps.
I will also say, that my faith in humanity has been restored. A (stranger) XDA user who was following this forum and I have never met, "gifted" me enough dollars to cover the shipping and what was lost. She didnt have to do this and was out of the good of her heart just to restore humanity!
Thank you for the one who gifted me the money, I wont mention your name unless you want me to!
