Highest capacity battery without replacing cover? - EVO 4G Accessories

Like the title says, just wondering what the highest capacity battery is that doesn't require you to extend the size of the phone by replacing the battery cover.

Thanks! Any links/model numbers I should look for?
Also do these batteries have to be wall charged like some I've heard of?

Check out http://batteryboss.org/. There are some 2000mAhs out there that are actually 1100s.

These are the batteries that I use. I have a few, and I have bought them for my friends. I have found them to be the best battery that fits under the stock door. They do last a fair amount longer than the stock batteries.

I'm glad to hear that. I just ordered those yesterday. I wasn't too sure about getting those Chinese batteries, but I figured I couldn't really go wrong at 16 bucks for 2 batteries and an external charger.
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G with Tapatalk

So if it comes with a quick charger, does that mean the battery shouldn't be charged while inside the phone or is it just a convenience thing?

It's much more convenient to use that charger, and plus it FULLY charges the battery. I never plug my phone in, I just swap fully charged batteries every morning.

Somehow when I see a $16 price tag for 2x2000Mah batteries + charger, a mental image of an exploded shrapnel piercing a Chinese man's carotid artery comes to mind.

Somehow when I see a $70 dollar price tag for a battery i see a greedy little monopoly man wiping his ass with $100 bills. Batteries are dirt cheap to manufacture, we only pay exorbitant amounts for them because Americans are stupid. Same reason why companies like Monster Cable are still in business. "If it costs more it MUST be better!"

Yep. If you don't already have a wall charger I recommend getting the set I linked. That charger is key.

The stock battery as far as I'm aware of is the best battery for the size. All those higher rated ones, are liez.

the best battery that doesn't require you to change the cover is the stock red oem battery the phone comes with. check batteryboss.org for proof. if you could get more juice out of the same size htc would of done that.

Sorry to say, but you're wrong. The galilio batteries that I linked last noticeably longer than the stock red batteries. I have 2 of the stock ones and I don't use them at all because the galilios are better. Check this thread out, dude tested them and the 1800mah ones from galilio tested higher capacity than the oem batteries, over 100mah more. Sure they aren't true 1800 and the 2000s arent true 2000 but who cares? They are dirt cheap and DO perform better than the stock battery.

Because, you can keep a charged spare. Plus as I said before, the dock chargers fully charge the battery so you don't have to deal with the EVOs finicky charging method.

I just ordered mine as well. If I can get through the day with medium to heavy use on these I will be happy. I love my extended battery would would really rather have a case on my phone

7 batteries?! more like 20 plus 10 AC chargers.... I'm with you, no way I'd put this in my captivate, the added bulk plus the price is just too outrageous for me when I got 2 batteries and a charger for 10 bucks, plus 4-12' usb to microusb cables from monoprice for $8.

a) It does make the phone look ridiculous, why buy an 11mm thick cellphone, only to double the thickness?
b) My battery already lasts a day easy with moderate use, maybe you're doing something wrong.

Oh, the irony.
Look: more battery requires more space, which means more bulk which means a bulge and a custom back cover. No other way around it... simple physics. If you don't want a bulge in your phone, get something like a Zaggsparq to plug into for portable rechargeability.

It seems obvious that someone looking for an extended battery is looking for just that. I want my cordless phone to be cordless and I don't want to have to keep swapping batteries. The Mugen is pretty ugly but it really doesn't make the phone that much thicker (17mm vs 11mm). I really just wish there were cases that fit it.

Didn't see Galilio on batteryboss.org list, but I am assuming that they would probably be fake.
They are easily the best of the cheap ebay batteries.
I bought the 2000mAh Galilio on ebay for $8.99. It came nicely package- http://cgi.ebay.com/High-Quality-Ba...451129?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item230b00b539
My take, it lasts longer than the stock by far, but I am used to my 3500 battery... so I switch back and forth. Not a bad deal if you want to keep the original back cover and have a little more juice that the stock battery.
i agree, i have two of them and bow definitely last longer than the stock battery. They are a great buy.
I got two of those buggers and a wall charger and with shipping it cost me $17.52. They are at least as good as original battery if not slightly better.
Sorry, double post.
I've got one. When I switch between it and my stock one, I can feel the difference between the two. With it I can get close to 2 days w/o recharge, stock battery is only 1.5 days w/o recharge. I use my phone very lightly and a lot of wifi so take that into consideration with battery use.

Has anyone tried one of these cheapo ebay extended batteries?

Found this extended battery on ebay, was wondering if anyone on here has tried it, i know it looks hideous, but if you know your making a trip somewhere it could come in handy if it works the way its supposed to. Its cheap as hell too.

but what can you lose? lol
Seems to me that if the larger aftermarket brands have trouble meeting the stated mAh rating on their batteries, what more of unbranded ones that goes for an even lower value?

3500 real mah. I didn't think the 2000 extended batteries would fit under the cover from the Hyperion I had here. I agree though, if I can solder it up in an evening, Samsung certainly could work up something.
hopefully more phones in the future will be like the razr and give us a factory extended battery closer to 3000mah.
Razr maxx when I had it for a week was sick! Hard use all day, charged every other day, seriously insane battery life. If that phone ever gets bootloader unlocked, I would be all over it again.

Have you done this solder thing? Any tips?
if you look at the battery in the phone you can see that there is some space at the top of each terminal, use this space to solder a fine piece of copper wire to a second battery. make sure to solder the batteries in parallel, positive to positive and negative to negative, to retain the same voltage.
i remember taking apart a so called 3500mah battery from ebay and they were just two cheap 1500mah batteries tapped together. Apparently in china 1500X2 is 3500.
Why does everyone want extended batteries? 99% of people have access to a power cord most of the day and just don't need it. Granted, I'm new to the phone, but I really hope I don't need to carry around a huge battery or two. Personally I'd rather charge it more often. Just my own opinion.

Yea, I had an Anker battery for my EVO 3D and they're solid. Definitely want one with NFC though.
i am in the same boat but don't want to walk around with a brick with those 4000mah batteries. to me that defeats the purpose of this ultra thin phone. i keep an extra battery in car in case i need it.
i don't think you will find a decent capacity (say 2800-3000mah) battery without requiring a bulky extended back cover.. those that advertise this type of capacity are probably liars. i said it before, but if it were possible samsung would of increase capacity while keeping the same size.
sure you can get a 2200-2300mah battery that is the same size but it's pointless because the added time will only be like an additional 10-20 minutes compare to stock (that is of course if you even get the advertised capacity)..
battery technology needs improvement.. everyone is making better and better phones but battery technology is lacking and no on is investing money to improve them

[Q] Mugen Power 4600mAh battery for S3? Review?

I found this thread where G1_enthusiast reviewed Anker and Seidio batteries for S3, but I also found the 4600mAh battery from Mugen Power earlier than these, and ordered it.
All I head is that cheap batteries are made out of almost expired materials and work for like 200 charge cycles, which explains their price. The expensive ones like Mugen or Seidio work for 400-500 charges, which is better, but would be awesome if some one could review the 4600mAh one. I will post my results later when I receive it, but I don't have experience in doing such tests.

reason why they are not popular is the price tag, i used to think their company is out of japan but in fact they are base out of hong kong (people tend to think china stufff are ****ty). so what make their battery better than anker or hyperion? having say that, i have own their battery before (G2 and SGS2) and they do make battery longer than stock. however i was not into crazy testing at the time. i will not pay 100 bucks for battery again, as long as anker is in bussiness.

Well, as I head many times and experienced myself on older phones (I have a 3900mAh from Mugen for Nexus S that works for 1.5 years already) - industry standards cannot produce a good quality battery and sell it for 10$. Those batteries are usually made out of expired materials. The issue here is not just the capacity but the battery life cycle. Cheap batteries have confirmed to last for 100-200 charges, however batteries from Seidio or Mugen last for 400-600 charges, not to say about warranty and safety + NFC support.
Also, for me personally customer support and brand presence is more important than being cheap. If I can afford a phone that costs 800$, I surely can get a good quality battery for a 100$. I will get the battery soon, btw, and will let you know.
I also posted this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30770441&postcount=85
I wonder if the Mugen battery will work with the extended cases that are being offered. I got one from Hyperion that I like. Judging by pictures it looks like the Mugen extended door may be a little bigger or designed different.
If the Mugen would fit with the other extended doors and TPU cases I would buy it. I've had great luck with them,

That is why you go for tested name brand but not super expensive. a mugen costs more than 5 times what a hyperion, qcell, etc. costs. but it is very unlikely they will last 5 times as many charges. there is nothing like a fresh battery!
Well, they're always out of stock...I guess they never back back-logs. Anyways, I've received my S3 battery and now I need to calibrate the phone according to their instruction. They say that it's necessary to charge 4-5 times for 8-12 hours before the phone recognizes the new capacity. Does anyone know why?

I possibly cannot be doing a better ones that I've added to the thread. Check these videos.
$100 for a battery! That's more than half what I payed for the phone itself

Why didn't you buy a stand with extra battery that recharges both at the same time and just carry the extra one with you? I did, 18 pounds in amazon.uk. That way there is no extra bulk, and it's much cheaper!

I tend to carry my phone around, that's why. I think that's the sole purpose of having an extended battery in the first place.

Who said anything about not carring it around? I also carry it around, along with the extra battery. At the end of the day i put them both charging.

Yup, when the other extended battery costs less than $30 bucks, why pay much more?

Thanks. Is this the official Samsung extended battery kit? Also, does the S3 fit in this dock when used with either an Incipio or SGP Neo Hybrid case?

This is not the official one, it's Chinese. But in a emergency the extra battery does the trick. The phone won't fit with the case, you have to take it off.
